IC:
- I Impressed green Kannaroth, and took the honorific name Y'kar - We're about half way through our weyrling training now, the end can't come soon enough - Jada gave me two flirelizard eggs, they hatched into a gold who I've called Treasure, and a blue I've named Charming - We have a new weyrwoman; Malkai of Kaveth - Kaveth laid her clutch; nine eggs, one of them gold - There are rumors that the plague has returned at High Reaches... we shall see - Turns out the gold egg was a bronze, I am most amused - Apparently we get to have extra lessons. Great. - The High Reaches weyrleader died, but not of plague. Humm. - In order to graduate, I have to prove myself and Kannaroth beyond the norm. Luckily, I get to work for I'dan. This should be good.

Y'kar

Basics
Given name: Yisenkar Rider name: Y’kar Age: 16 Sex: Male Orientation: Closet bisexual Rank: Jr. Weyrling
Appearance
Height: 5’6” Build: Skinny, some wiry muscle Hair: Dark brown, straight, quite short Eyes: Light brown Skin: Pale Face: Angular, gaunt Detailed appearance: Y’kar is a scrawny youth of slightly less than average height; hard work has put a scrap of wiry muscle on his frame but nowhere near enough to be impressive. His hair is dark brown, straight, worn fairly short, and given to sticking up at odd angles. Genetics combined with spending most of his time inside have combined to give him a rather pale complexion, but he looks healthy nevertheless. Though his eyes are light brown, anyone catching him off guard will notice that they lack warmth when he isn't concentrating. His face is rather angular; not high-cheekboned and handsome, just angular, almost gaunt despite his general good health. Overall, Y’kar looks like nothing much in particular under normal circumstances, but catch him off guard or in a moment when he drops his pretences, and those chilly brown eyes might make an observer think twice before dismissing him as harmless.
Personality
Likes: Kannaroth, Y’kar, comfort, winning Dislikes: The people in power, not getting what he wants Strengths: Highly intelligent, exceptional skill at lying/acting Weaknesses: Lacks physical power, rather cowardly Quote: Character tracks: Dangerous Mind
Extended personality: Only two things truly matter to Y’kar: Y’kar, and more importantly Kannaroth. In any situation he puts their interests first even if it means going back on something he has said previously, or hurting someone else. He isn’t a brave young man when it comes to face to face confrontation; call it sensible or call it cowardly, he thinks it’s better to back down from a fight he knows he won’t win than to end up with a broken nose or something. In order to avoid such things, his methods for getting what he wants are all sneaky and or underhanded; he has no pride, and no qualms about kicking a foe when they’re down, especially if said foe won’t find out it was him doing the kicking.
Y’kar is very intelligent and has cunning in spades, but generally prefers to keep this fact between himself and his dragon; he would rather people thought him average in that respect, the last thing he wants is for people to suspect he’s trying to manipulate them. He could lie for all of Pern too, and has acting down to a fine art; he is confused and hurt that you think he might have stolen those marks, and really very intimidated by your anger even though he did nothing wrong. As one might guess, Y’kar is exceedingly private. He avoids giving away personal information wherever possible, but keeps especially quiet about his sexuality; he hasn’t really accepted it himself yet, and couldn’t begin to admit it to anyone else
Nothing is too immoral if it will get something he or Kannaroth want; they are after all the only people that really matter save the green’s sisters and their riders. As this attitude indicates, he dislikes pretty much everyone; his loathing is mostly dependant on how well a given individual is doing for themselves. While he only feels mild contempt for, say, drudges, he absolutely despises the Weyr’s leaders; Kannaroth is worth a thousand of their big stupid dragons, why should they get all the power, the nice big weyrs, more marks? Thankfully he is sensible enough to keep his feelings under wraps, but if there ever came a chance to do one of his leaders down in secret he would leap at the chance. Concepts such as honor and justice are foolish in Y’kar’s eyes; you’re never going to get anywhere in life if you hold back from doing what you must to get ahead because ‘it isn’t right’. This said, however, he is beginning to feel loyalty to the riders of Kannaroth’s clutch mates. He doesn’t really know how to make friends or how to be a friend yet but if given a chance he could come to think very well of the other two and to want to help them get what they want in life without thinking of what he might get in return, just so long as he doesn’t get in the way of what Kannaroth and he want in any case.
Just as he is good at putting His and himself first, Y’kar is good at recognizing people who could be useful to him and seeking to help them fulfill their goals, so long as they don’t conflict with his own. Kannaroth’s position in the Weyr currently makes it difficult for him to make allies - most useful people either think he’s a joke or are starting to outright despise him thanks to his dragon’s developing cruel wit - but that doesn’t put him off in the least, after all where would you be in life without challenges? If he has to spend every minute of every day getting a little closer to somebody who could help him and His in the future, so be it. His feelings towards potential allies don’t matter at all, he could quite happily cosy up to somebody he hates with all of his being if he needs to. Whether or not he will actually manage to make any useful contacts for himself remains to be seen, but if he doesn’t it certainly won’t be for lack of trying.
History
Yisenkar’s mother - Larsha - was born at Telgar to a young bakercraft journeywoman who had fallen in love with a brownrider. Though the pair were happy for some time, eventually the love faded and Larsha’s mother moved with her young daughter back to her cothold. At the age of sixteen, Larsha met her father; he loved the idea of seeing her on the sands next time there was a queen egg and called in a few favours to get her accepted back to the place of her birth. She left her hold with her mother’s and grandparents’ blessings, but only because they were glad to see the back of her. She was trouble through and through, convinced that she was the most important person in the world, everyone else was just a tool to her. On her arrival at the Weyr, she let everyone know just who would be impressing the next queen to hatch.
For some time her behaviour wasn’t quite bad enough to get her thrown out, but around six months after her arrival a trip to the healers with complaints of nausea revealed that she was four months pregnant. The very next day she found herself on a dragon heading back to her Hold; being stupid enough to get herself with child was the very last straw for the candidatemaster who had been wanting to be rid of her for some time. Her family wasn’t exactly glad to see her arrive, and she wasn’t exactly glad to be back; she should have been a queen rider! How dare they throw her out? When she gave birth to Yisenkar, she became determined that he would have what was stolen from her; one day her boy would ride a bronze, become a wingleader, fly the senior queen, etc etc.
From day one Yisenkar was trained not to trust anybody, not to help anybody unless it helped him, and to believe he would become a bronze rider. Much to his mother’s delight he took well to being sneaky, manipulative, and mostly devoid of morals. When he was searched to Telgar at the age of thirteen she was ecstatic. Yisenkar felt much the same way to begin with, but removed from his mother’s company he soon began to feel lonely and grew jealous and more resentful than ever of the rest of the world. Why did they all have friends? Not that he wanted any of course, only idiots went around making friends... That was what his mother said anyway, and she was the only person he had ever trusted. She had to be right, right?
Within a couple of turns he felt more dejected than ever; he had come to realize that he liked boys as much as girls, and that no bronze would ever have him. He tried to deny it, and to will every bronze that hatched towards him but all to no avail. He was alone, unable to reach out to anyone, and likely to remain that way so far as he could tell. Of course, he didn’t want any friends really, they just got in the way. All he wanted was a dragon, but a bronze wouldn’t have him and that was the only colour that would please his mother. Gradually however his desire for a bronze lessened. Why would any other dragon be worse? They all had their good and bad points. Maybe his mother was wrong; blasphemy!... But the feeling remained, and at the next hatching Yisenkar ignored the bronzes and focused on the browns, blues, and greens. That was not his lucky day, but afterwards he found himself feeling less hopeless than he usually did. A bronze would never have him but another might. Another would.
One more hatching passed without joy, but then came Shaith’s final, pathetic excuse for a flight. While it might have been quite a disappointment to most, to Y’kar it was the best flight ever, for it led him to Kannaroth, the best dragon in the world. His mother, who had been present at the hatching, was somewhat less impressed. A green was worthless so far as she was concerned, and she wasted no time in letting Y’kar know she no longer considered him her son; he had failed her. Y’kar wasted no time in letting her know he couldn’t care less. Though shocked by his mother’s sudden abandonment of him, the moment he heard Kannaroth’s voice in his mind she became a secondary concern by a long way. This is not to say that he was unaffected, however; as the days passed he found himself beginning to question some aspects of how she had raised him. If he couldn’t trust her to love him unconditionally, perhaps he couldn’t trust her in other matters either. He and his always had to come first of course but maybe... maybe it was possible to trust other people; not all people, but a few. It is a tenuous idea in his mind as yet, but he is beginning to feel loyalty to those others who Impressed on that fateful day; they’re all in the same situation, they all deserve more respect than they’re getting... Maybe helping them in life without getting much in return would be alright.

Kannaroth
Appearance
Kannaroth's hide is a rich mid green almost all over. Her only markings are a slightly darker hue and take the form of tipped head-knobs, darkened neck ridges, and a mask over her eyes. She is quite small for a green, but her movements have become extremely fluid and graceful. Her eyes are most commonly the dull orange of a dragon who finds the world a rather frustrating place to live in, and anyone able to read dragons' faces and body-language well would know that she almost always has a very calculating, critical air about her.
Sr. Weyrling Jr. Weyrling
Statistics
Size: Below average. Kannaroth is a bit of a runt, but not the smallest green alive by any means. Resilience: Below average. Why should she hurt herself for you? You suck, and she is awesome; she’ll only go through pain if she feels like it, and usually she doesn’t. Speed: Above average. Her small size and light weight make Kannaroth both fast and maneuverable. Stamina: Very low. Girl is quick a lightning, but burns out just as fast. Strength: Very low. She’s built for speed, not heavy labor, what do you take her for! Intelligence: Very high. Since she started getting doses of the herbal mixture Kannaroth has had an excellent memory, which has only made her better at scheming and plotting. Wit: Very high. Kannaroth can solve problems on the fly just about as well as she can make long term schemes; be very afraid.
Personality
Likes: Kannaroth, Y'kar, Roseth, Nellath, flitts, getting what she wants Dislikes: Not getting what she wants, idiots Strengths: Highly intelligent, sharp wit Weaknesses: Quite small, lacks strength, sometimes lacks judgment in who she insults/steals from Quote: Character tracks: The World is Not Enough
Extended personality: All three survivors of Shatih's last clutch have a high opinion of themselves, but when you get down to the bare facts of the matter, neither of her sisters is quite as clever as Kannaroth. Really, not many dragons are, for that matter. She's a devilish little troublemaker who decided if she can't be accepted by everyone else, the least she can do is torment them at every given opportunity. Thus, her wit is not necessarily used for any bettering effects unless you count her own amusement.
There is a very odd quirk that Kannaroth has so far unseen in any other dragon in Telgar: She is not only very fond of firelizards, but they always seem to like her. Often times she assembles the smaller creatures and somehow bribes them into doing her bidding. See that big, big cake over there? Go crash into it and she'll let you eat the whole thing and give you two meatrolls! Some of them might even listen to her just because they like her. It will be a sorry day for the Weyr if she somehow manages to build up her miniature firelizard "army".
Kannaroth is the least loyal of her sisters, but she still cares about them and her rider in a deep, special way that only a group like them could fathom. However, she will not tolerate them getting in her way. She doesn't feel the need to prove herself like the other two do, and if she wants to take something (stealing is a favorite past time), then she will. Period.
In short, Kannaroth started as the sweetest of the trio, but was the quickest to become jaded.
Why?
Both Kannaroth and Y’kar are sharp as knives, and don’t care what they have to do to get what they want. Though in public Y’kar keeps his brains under wraps, when alone with his dragon the pair of them will be able to hone the wits on one another for candlemarks at a time. Y’kar is rather more subtle than his dragon, and will easily be able to play the innocuous lad who has Impressed more than he can handle when Kannaroth steals, or insults the wrong dragon. One of the main things that drew Kannaroth to Y’kar was his willingness to meld his life to fit in with her wishes; the last thing she needed was a rider with firm ideas about what they wanted, they might have got in the way of satisfying her own desires. For Y’kar, it is Kannaroth’s mind that pleases him the most; he loves that she is brilliant, adores that she thinks about herself before anyone else, and is convinced that she deserves to have everything she wants. The final factor that brought them together was anger. At the moment of her hatching both rider and dragon were seething at the world and though it was not the deciding factor for Kannaroth, it was Yisenkar's anger that first caught her attention.

Flitts
Most of Y'kar's flitts can respond to at least a couple of verbal commands, but they will only accept them if they are in his or Kannaroth's voice. Again most of them can carry out more complex tasks when provided with step by step images of what is to be done; Kannaroth is far more adept at this kind of control than her rider, partially because of how much they all adore her.
Greens:
Name: Tweet Personality: When a lost little green flitt appeared at Telgar, barely old enough to fly, Kannaroth couldn't take her in soon enough. A piece of meatroll secured her Impression to Y'kar, and once she settled in a bright excitable personality began to shine through. Tweet finds everything fascinating, from the reflection of light on water to bootlaces and beyond. She loves to share her interest in the world, and frequently chatters excitedly as she tells the big green and the rider all about the exciting things she's seeing. As this habit can get really very annoying, one of the first things Y'kar taught her was 'shush' which buys a few minutes peace at least. Tweet is a very loving little flitt which makes up for it at least a little; if she thinks something might be wrong with one of her people (members of the trio, their riders, and flitts) she will snuggle them and tell them about pretty things until they feel better. Verbal commands: Come, Stay, Leave, Shush
Name: Clemency Personality: Clemency is very much Charming's daughter, and as such Y'kar made the same joke with the little green's name: if she has a vocabulary, mercy certainly wouldn't be in it. She hates being touched by human hands, even Y'kar can't stroke her. She will settle on his shoulder if she feels like it, but it has to be her making the first move. If any other human so much as gets close to her she will screech at them and attack if they don't back off. She likes other flitts and dragons, however, and is quite affectionate with them, especially Y'kar's other flitts and Kannaroth. Her temperament, and general dislike of flying around more than necessary, makes her an excellent guard flitt; most of her time is spent up in Y'kar's weyr, or watching over somewhere he or Kannaroth have asked her to stay. Anyone who comes close or, first egg forbid, tries to take something from the place she is guarding is in for a face full of claws. Verbal commands: Leave, Guard
Name: Aria Personality: Aria was a graduation gift from Y'ul, and from day one showed herself to be a rather dappy soul. She has trouble remembering anything for more than a candlemark or two unless it's really important (like a good sunning spot), interesting (like a lovely shiny) or delicious (like, well, anything meat related). She's a sweet natured little thing, and will approach anybody at all if she wants some fuss, or of course if they have food; for a green she's somewhat on the large and chubby side, but Kannaroth restrains her enough to keep her healthy. Verbal commands confuse her a great deal, but Kannaroth can control her quite adeptly with images. Verbal commands: None; only response to images and flitt-like thoughts from Kannaroth
Name: Charis* Personality: Life can be tough when you're not much longer than a man's hand, but Charis deals with it cheerfully. She doesn't spend very much time in the air, preferring to ride on Y'kar or Kannaroth, or to find a comfortable place to curl up and doze. Her small size makes her fairly inconspicuous, so Y'kar or Kannaroth will often direct her to stay somewhere they want watched and pass on what she sees. When she isn't being given orders and she isn't around Y'kar, when she wants to go somewhere she will often hitch a lift on a passing person, hopping shoulders when they start heading in the wrong direction. Verbal commands: Come, Stay, Leave, Watch
Blues:
Name: Charming Personality: Y'kar likes a joke as much as anyone, and as such couldn't resist naming this angry blue (a gift from Jada) Charming. He hates everyone save other firelizards (and he's pretty wary of most of them), Kannaroth, her sisters, their riders, and of course Y'kar. He is extremely possessive and territorial; if he's sitting on Y'kar's shoulder and somebody gets within a couple of feet he will give a warning screech. If they don't back off, he will try to bite. He does his best to follow the commands Kannaroth and Y'kar give him, but he is not as adept as his clutchmate Treasure. One thing he does grasp rather well however his havoc: he will gleefully zoom around screeching and making a huge nuscience of himself at a nudge from Kannaroth, often causing a distraction so that she can send Treasure to carry out a more complex task. Verbal commands: Come, Stay, Leave, Havoc RPs: xxx
Name: Surf Personality: Another gift from Jada, Surf is a beach bum in the middle of the northern continent. Water is his favorite thing ever, and he'd spend all day in the baths or the hot springs if he could. A lot of the time Y'kar humors him, as these are great places to observe the goings on of the Weyr. Though far from an antisocial flitt, he tends not to approach people of his own accord; if they come to him he'll permit petting and treat giving cheerfully, he just doesn't take the initiative. Left to his own devices, Surf will only leave the water to rest and sun on a rock nearby the water, to eat, and to sleep; for these last two he seeks out Y'kar and Kannaroth without fail, so they see him at least once or twice a day. Verbal commands: Come, Stay, Leave
Name: Reflection Personality: A gift from Jasrai, Y'kar named this flitt Reflection because he was so very different in temper to his confident sire. Everything is scary to this blue, save for Y'kar, Kannaroth, and (most) of their other flitts. Most of his time is spent clinging tightly onto one of these trusted people, and watching the rest of the world unhappily. The only time his eyes shift from yellow is when he's up in Y'kar's weyr beside either the rider himself, or Kannaroth. If asked to do something by one or the other of them, he'll do his best but probably get too scared to finish up the job and rush back to them creelinn unhappily. Verbal commands: Come, Stay (only works if he'll be staying with somebody he knows and likes)
Name: Lazuli Personality: Like is father Lawrence Lazuli likes a challenge, but he is more of a daredevil than his sire. He loves flying through crowds - specifically weaving in and out of people's legs - and can be counted on to just zip into the room before the door shuts, or to zoom underneath the very hot pot just as somebody is trying to put it down. As he loves his thrills, Kannaroth often sends him on daring heists to fetch whatever pretty thing has caught her eye, or to topple over something that she wants to see ruined. Verbal commands: Come, Stay, Leave, Fetch
Browns:
Name: Andre Personality: Andre is hopelessly in love with Kannaroth; from the moment he first saw her all he could think of was pleasing her. He feels great affection for Y'kar of course, but in the end it's Kannaroth he takes order from, and Kannaroth he wants to be around. His adoration for the green dragon makes him reckless and fearless; he'd try to fight a wher if he thought that was what she wanted from him and though left to his own devices he likes pretty well everyone, whenever he is around Kannaroth he will be hostile towards anyone she is hostile towards. Verbal commands: Come, Stay, Leave, Fetch (obeys only with Kannaroth's approval)
Name: Chance Personality: Chance is named Chance because Y'kar found his egg by chance down in the lower caverns, and was not feeling very imaginative. It turned out to be fairly fitting, as this brown seems to forever having things happen to him. Sometimes, by chance, he is in the right place to get scraps of lovely hot fresh meat from the kitchen. Sometimes, by chance, he is in the right place to get chased around by a very angry gold flitt whose eggs he accidentally bumped into. He's a happy-go-lucky sort in general, and accepts his good fortune with joy, and his bad fortune with acceptance. Like all of Y'kar's flitts he adores Kannaroth, and spends a lot time either with her, or fetching things for her that he thinks she'll like. Verbal commands: Come, Stay, Leave, Fetch
Name: Skitter Personality: Skitter got his name because he is always on the move, and always worried. Not about himself, no, all of this flitt's worries center around Y'kar, Kannaroth, their other flitts, and the other members of the terrible trio. He's always sure that something bad will happen to one of his people if he isn't around to watch over them, but he can't ever seem to keep all of them in one place to look after. As such, his life is spent zipping after one flitt-friend or another, or hanging onto Y'kar or Kannaroth trying to tell them to be careful out there! Skitter has never failed to find somebody within the circle, and as such Y'kar often uses him to fetch a particular firelizard he wants for a given task, or to take a message to one of the other members of the terrible trio. Verbal commands: Come, Stay, Leave, Find x (find one of Y'kar's flitts, or a member of the terrible trio), Tell x Come (tell one of Y'kar's other flitts to go to him)
Bronzes:
Name: Lawrence Personality: Lawrence likes three things above all else; racing, hunting, and chasing females. He loves a good challenge in all of these fields as well, the faster the opponent, the tougher the prey, and the harder to catch the female is the happier he is when he wins, kills, or catches. Failure will always make him mope for a little while but he's a pretty proud, confident sort, and awlays gets over it before he forgets about it. He is very fond of his human and the Big Green, but isn't as intent on making them happy as some of the others are. If he's got nothing better to do he'll happily obey, but if he spots something more fun and is told not to go and do it, he'll have a good strop about it, and occasionally decide not to listen at all if Kannaroth is anything less than totally insistent. Verbal commands: Come, Stay, Leave, Fetch RPs: x
Golds:
Name: Treasure Personality: An intelligent, relaxed firelizard, Treasure takes life in her stride. She doesn't understand the hostility Charming and Kannaroth show to humans and dragons other than the green's sisters and Theirs but she doesn't try to fight it. So long as she is allowed to make friends where she likes, she's happy. She is also very eager to please Kannaroth and Y'kar, she delights in carrying out any task given to her whether it be to just sit and watch a given place, or to retrieve an object of some kind for them. Verbal commands: Come, Stay, Leave, Fetch, Follow, Watch, Speak, Shake hands, and another of other tricks such as play dead and loop-the-loop RPs: xxx
*Due to her small size, Charis will never have more than two eggs per clutch.

That Fateful Day
There had been only four eggs, and one of the hatchlings had just vanished between at the end of a trail of shaken and bleeding candidates. He was pretty sure that some of them were dead or dying, but frankly he couldn’t care less. There were still three greens on the sands yet to choose their riders, and he was no more going to let himself be put off them than he would stand outside during Threadfall. He was sick of failing, he was tired of walking off the sands alone...
He was angry.
Y’kar clenched his fists, willing the trio to know him for who he truly was. The world was unfair, seemed set against him, and he hated most of the people in it. Who did they think they were, boasting over the big dragons they Impressed, the positions they had been given? He was ten times smarter than most of them and the world ignored him, he never got anything, ever! If only one of these would choose him he would make sure they got what they wanted in life, no matter what it took, no matter what he had to do... What he really truly wanted was a dragon who understood him, a dragon with brains, a dragon who wasn’t going to trot around the place simpering pathetically at everyone, what he wanted was -
"You! Move!"
The cry startled him back to awareness just in time to dive out of the way of the vicious green who had screamed so loudly when she burst out of her shell; had he not moved at that very moment he would probably have become another casualty of this bloody hatching.
"I am Kannaroth, you are Mine now."
Pushing himself to his knees, Yisenkar - Y’kar - found himself face to face with another of the dragonets, and his heart seemed to freeze for a moment as he stared into her swirling red eyes. Anger was there, but though the young creature’s burning rage he could see intelligence to match his own... No. He couldn’t just see it, he could feel it. All of it. She had spoken to him. She had chosen him.
"We are good for one another Mine," the dragonet went on, confirming what the skinny youth already knew in his heart. "There are a lot of things I want to do and have, and you will help me get them and achieve them... Starting with food, feed me now Mine!"
There was no denying that demand; her hunger was his hunger, her desires were his desires. Yes, this was the dragon for him, he was the rider for her. Whatever she wanted, she would have even if he had to take it away from somebody else to give it to her. Without a word, he didn’t need to speak for her to know his heart and mind as well as he knew them himself, Y’kar climbed back to his feet and, not bothering to so much as glance at those still on the sands, he led the green towards her first meal, towards their future. The Weyr, he concluded internally with a brief smirk, was in very deep trouble if it got in their way.

The Sisters
Roseth
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet?
Um, excuse you. Clearly you do not know who Roseth is, because no one smells better than her. No one is smarter than her, faster than her, or in any way better than her. The only time she'll yield is to Nellath, and even then, it's more out of respect than truly acknowledging she's not better than her clutchmate at something. (Which she is, just so you know.) People have accused Roseth of compensating for some deep rooted insecurities, but that couldn't be further from the truth in her mind. The reality is that is very true. Being looked down upon makes her blood boil! In her defense, Roseth is stronger, faster and smarter than most other greens. Her social skills, well, that's where she needs some serious work.
Her desire to win is a steadfast first place of "Most Ridiculous Award". You really can't win them all. Unless, of course, you're Roseth. If she can't be the best of the best, she'll be the best at being the worst. It doesn't make much sense to a lot of people, but the logic translates perfectly to her, thank you very much. Maybe you're just too stupid to get it. At the end of the day, she can always, always say she did something better than the norm. (Even if that something is failing.)
She considers golds to be pests, but would rather just listen to them and get it over with then go gripe about it to Nellath and Kannaroth later. Roseth's biggest problem is not gossip, it's ignoring problems. If something bad happens, she'll ignore it until she forgets or it goes away. It hasn't failed her so far, so why fix what isn't broken? Other than the two greens, she only holds her rider in high esteem. Perhaps too high. Why can't they act like they ride a gold or bronze? If they weren't better than their riders, she wouldn't have picked them. Duh.
She is, after all, Roseth the Great.
Nellath
If you wanna be blunt about it, you can just say Nellath is one scary b***h. When she first hatched, she screamed loud enough to temporarily deafen the audience simply out of spite. She killed not one, but two candidates on the sand in her quest to find Hers and even if she could remember it now, she wouldn't care. They should have moved if they didn't want to get hurt. It's almost like Nellath knew her horrible fate from the beginning and came into the world ready to fight tooth and nail against it.
The best thing about her is her extreme loyalty to her two clutchmates. She and Kannaroth often butt heads, but she would still do anything for both her and Roseth at any time. She'll listen to queens, too, but only because she has to. Nellath hates golds and as far as she's concerned, she will never, ever change her mind about that. The other colors she's not too fond of either, especially not bronzes. By time she's older, the meeker spirits of any color will think twice before crossing this nasty, vicious green.
If given the chance, she'd even bully her own rider. Thankfully, she won't be, because Hers would have had to go out of their way to brave Impressing this green. Among the three clutchmates, she acts as the leader, and she expects Hers to mock this behavior between their riders. The weyrfolk have been known to refer to Nellath as a "wher dragon" because her brute-ish, animalistic behavior matches them more than other dragons. But she is not stupid, just abrasive.

Allies and Foes
Jadamirei: Try saying that ten times fast. Idiot, but attractive, and apparently useful after all; she gave me my two firelizards. What an idiot!
Yulu: I'd probably have thought she was a boy if not for Kanna, weird girl. I'm not really sure if she'll ever be useful, but she was quite entertaining so I might well seek her out again. I was asleep mostly, but it was funny when she nearly apologized for making you cry. Haha, boo-hoo, poor me. Haha.
L’pin and blue Shamth: That has to be about the most psychotic dragon I've ever seen, too vicious to even be in a wing. His rider interests me, he's already on the bottom of the heap with nothing to lose, he could be a useful ally. I'll do my best to get close to him; I think he's worth expending some time and resources on. Mmm, yes, but I would like to avoid being disemboweled by his flitt-brained, wher-tempered failure of a brute blue. L'pin might be useful, but we should watch ourselves around them. Yes, agreed.

I Impressed. I actually Impressed. Four dragons, one went between, and I was one of those chosen. She's sleeping now, everyone is but me. I'm exhausted, but I don't think I could sleep... There was one minor set back today. Mother came to see the hatching, and decided that a green wasn't good enough, so she disowned me. I suppose I was just a tool to her in the end as well, like everyone else. It stings of course but where before I would have been devastated, now I can shrug. I have Kannaroth, and she is all that matters from now on.
Seen as her sisters matter to her, however, they matter as well, and by extension their riders matter. I am not my mother, I will not be the tool she shaped, not totally. Honesty will never be the way for me, and I will use almost everyone just as I always have. Not Jasrai and A'li though. For them... for them I'll make an effort to be decent, I'll help them, support them, and not worry too much about what I might get back from them... I think I can do this, because of how we are tied together. They will do the same for me. We six will be loyal to one another, because it is already apparent nobody else will be; the atmosphere at the feast showed that much.
Already it is clear that all three of these greens are either stronger than most greens, smarter than most dragons, or both... Yet their reception was very lukewarm. We will be sidelined all our lives if we don't band together and fight against it. Will to overcome adversity, however, seems to be something none of us lack. We shall prevail.
"Mmmm...? Oh, yes, we shall prevail."

Senior weyrlings. A lot has changed, and yet nothing has changed. We still get no respect, and if anything the girls are angrier than ever... I trust people now though, I care about them. The three of us... I like to think we really have something, something special nobody else can understand. Kannaroth and I are, perhaps, a little more distant from it even than the others, she'll always be her own priority whereas I think the other two place one another as high as themselves. Anyway, even if we're not as knit together as they are, we're all close.
It's amazing to see Kannaroth in flight. I'm still not allowed to ride her, but this has to be almost as good. I can feel the wind under her wings, see the horizon through her eyes... Her speed and agility is incredible, she's stayed small just as I thought. I doubt she'll get to more than six foot at the shoulder even full grown; a third of a Threadfall really will be her limit, but that's fine, I don't care about how long she can last. The time she is up there is stunning, that's what matters.
The tension between the junior golds is hotting up now, so I suppose it's only a matter of time before one rises, and then we'll have to deal with other weyrlings in the dorm. Fine, there's enough space for us to keep separate, and I'm sure they'll all be quite happy to avoid us...
A lot has changed since I Impressed, and things are going to keep changing. Soon I'll be able to ride Kannaroth and after that... Well, we'll just have to see how much people's prejudice holds us back. Not too much, I hope, we have far too much potential to rot as nobodies forever.

Well, I have two firelizards now thanks to miss pretty face; a gold and a blue. They're wonderful, and I still can't believe she was dumb enough to give them to me for nothing. Still, good to have something go my way, our way; Kannaroth is training them already. The gold - Treasure - seems to be taking everything in her stride, the blue - Charming - is a bit tougher. He's none too fond of people other than myself, Treasure, and Kannaroth, which is a good start, but he needs to be taught that Kanna's sisters and their riders, and other flitts are okay too.
"We shall get there Mine, it will do me good to have a challange for once. My mind will dull without problems to overcome, and that wouldn't do at all."
Well, quite, got to keep sharp.
Along with Treasure of course comes the chance at more eggs in the future; Jasrai has a bronze, if we can get them to become friends she might show a preference to him when she rises. I'd be more than happy to split the clutch evenly between the three of us, and any extras we have we can either sell, or give away to buy favour. Either way, Jada the deadglow has turned out to be pretty useful after all.

Well, it had to happen eventually; one of the golds rose. It was Kaveth, the lesser of two evils I suppose, but that was a little while ago now. Now we have to ooh and aah over the consequences. Nine eggs, not an amazing number but there's a gold in there so everyone is singing Kaveth's praises. Suddenly there seem to be more candidates around, especially female ones, all with their beady little eyes on that shiny, shiny egg. I hope it chooses from the stands, just to spite the crowd to chattering wherries.
It won't be long until the touching, about a sevenday people reckon, and after that it won't be long until the eggs hatch. We're still not looking forward to having to share our space, but at least there will only be eight; queenie gets her own snug quarters from day one.
"I hope she's a dud of a gold, and everyone ends up hating her as much as they hate us. Why should she have things we don't have? She will never be as good as myself or my sisters, her rider will never be as good as you or Theirs. She will be big and fat and stupid, only good for making more big fat stupid dragons. We will never respect her."
I know... but she'll be able to force you to do things like any gold. I hope she and her rider just steer clear of us, if they decide they hate us they could really make our lives hard... harder, that is.
Still, I have some comfort, Kannaroth and I are going to fly together now. We've waited what seems like forever, but now we're ready. We'll show them, the two of us, the six of us. We're better than any other riders or dragons in this place. Who cares if nobody else will see it, we're going to fly!

Firelizards. Even the golds are simple creatures, but simple creatures are easy to steer. Here's what I'm doing with Treasure, she's taking to it best, and once she knows something, Charming learns it better. Kannaroth is helping out by communicating the ideas to her in pictures at the same time as I command so nothing is going very badly, but some things are easier than others.
Come: Nice and easy. Get a distance away from her, give the command, and hold up a piece of meat. Once she lands on my arm, she gets the meat. Rinse and repeat.
Stay: A bit tougher. Set her down and then give the command, holding the treat. If she moves, moves the treat out of sight, put her back, repeat the command. Once she'd managed to stay there for a count of one, give it to her. Slowly increase the time between command and treat.
Leave: When she has something I want her to let go of, wait until she does of her own accord, then issue the command and give her the treat. We're working up to the command actually working to make her drop something she was still interested in now.
Fetch: Pretty easy; I picture what I want, and her giving it to me. She does this, she gets the treat.
Backflip: This one will take a little while. I hold the meat behind her head, but don't let her have it if she just turns around. At the minute, I'll give it to her if she bends backwards after it, we'll work up to the actual flipping eventually.
All in all, things are going pretty well. One other things I really want to teach her is to follow somebody, discreetly if possible. General following will do for now, stealth can be built up another time. I think for starters it would be easier to teach her to follow Kannaroth of myself; involving other people in the equation is something else we an build up to.
