From Dusk 'till Dawn
Only a fool of the night would let himself fall to the hands of darkness so easily.
Larken's Tale part 2
Larken's Tale part II
(Not This Time)
"CATHERINE!!!"-the word hung in the air, masking the roar of flames and the crumbling of small houses. "S-sir-your wounds!" a woman cried as she rushed towards the kitsune. He noticed her not...even if the rain had begun to fall, nothing could hide the remnants of the kitsune's tears. " Be you the one who saved that young woman? " The woman asked him, she must be the doctor's wife-
He only shook his head, " Save her? No...if anything 'tis I who would be to blame for her death. "
" I do not believe you-" the woman sighed, "You've ben badly hurt, we must get you inside...please, tell me your name. "
"Larken- I am Larken."
The kitsune went to turn his head away, the woman reached out to help him up, and he only jerked to pull her off. There came a terrible popping sound from Larken's ribcage and as he collapsed from pain...he went into a memory:
*
-" I do not want you to have any part in this war! " Larken yelled as he paced about the ground, eyes narrow; angry. " Why do you do this to yourself? Why must you take all that pain?! " Catherine cried, " For once, think about letting me share your suffering...stop thinking that you can take on this world alone!"
"Enough, I've heard enough! " yelled the kitsune warrior.
" I'm your wife Larken..."~
He couldn't tell her 'no' after that.
Everything seemed to go downhill from there...Larken couldn't even remember who it was that he was fighting against. All that came to mind was the sound of steel-on-steel, that scream that tore his heart in two and drained all color from his face.
He saw the scratches on her back, the burns on her chest, and the cuts on her wrists as blood poured from her body like a dark red fountain- one of death. He jumped forward and spread his wings as to catch he as she fell, only to be pierced by arows, caught by hands unfamiliar, then drug down to the ground and beaten.
They both had barely made it...
The sky was no longer blue, and the clouds were no longer white; for blood had covered the moon, in a series of red night.
