Draconia St. George
September 13
Dear Draconia from yesterday,

Did you really say it couldn't hurt to practice flying? Oh, foolish ghoul of 24 hours ago, how wrong you are!

So, I finally agreed to let Glen give me a flying lesson. We were under the stairs hanging out with Tori before classes started, and he gave me this pleading look while begging 'Drakie dear' to give him a chance to share his flying expertise. Tori said I'd regret it, but I'm discovering it's better to just say yes and let him get these things out of his system then let him keep harping on about something once he gets it in his mind. Glen is very used to getting his way, apparently.

And so, after school ended, Glen decided to take me to somewhere 'special' to practice my first flight. We wound up in the school's belfry. It's the highest point in the school...and as I looked down over the edge at the campus, it occurred to me that it was very, VERY high up and that this was perhaps not the best idea I've ever had in my life. Before I could get down, though, Glen shouted 'lesson one, gliding!' and pushed me over the edge.

Yes, right. Over. The edge. I was falling! I would have screamed, but I realized that Glen was holding on to my wings, pulling them open. He shouted 'lean up, lean up!' and I didn't really have a choice as he was yanking them back so hard. So, I leaned up and for a couple seconds, I could have sworn...that I was actually...flying!

Unfortunately, a couple seconds was all it lasted before my wings flopped the wrong way and I took a nosedive towards the school's fountain. Glen made a strange squeaking noise and jumped clear right before I splashed down smack dab into the middle of the fountain, splashing the Fear Squad and interrupting two water monsters who seemed to be in the middle of an important conversation.

A couple weeks ago, I probably would have died of embarrassment right then and there. With everyone staring at me, I had no choice but to stand up and make the most graceful exit to my locker I possibly could sopping wet with a lily pad on my head. Fortunately, Tori was right there inside with a towel and she assured me that she was pretty sure nobody was recording it on their iCoffins.

I did learn something from the experience; if I ever want Glen to leave me alone, all I need to do is dash a bucket of water over my head.
