You'll know what power is when we are done...son.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 07, 2014 9:55 am

Name: Caius Camillus

Nickname: Well, no, he doiesn't have any.

Age: Old. He found an ID saying he's 28 but he feels 25. So confusing.

Birthday: He swears it's the 31st of October so, yanno.

Sign: Scorpio - the arachnid part deeply unsettles him.

Gemstone: Topaz.

Blood Type: B-!

Fav. Food: Steak, pork chops, ham.... Shepard and Cottage pies - he likes toothsome healthy things.

Hated Food: Rice, sushi, bland food, broths, soups, liquidy foods. They feel like bad juju.

Occupation: Cultist He recently bought office space with some money he won from an investor and began to set up a rather well stocked New Age/Metaphysical book and goods store for all faiths.

Hobbies:

Horror - Caius likes to be scared by media. It's nicer than the real world, which is not safe -- but he does love it. Scream, Saw, any good Dracula or Frankenstein remake -- even B-Flicks are things he likes. Caius doesn't think being willingly scared is a horrible thing, and so tends to lean on it a lot for kicks.

Divination - Caius used to be into just tarot in Seattle, but after somehow showing up in magic clothes in Destiny City, he's taken to runes as well - his are ash. Caius enjoys doing readings of tarot and runes, not as a tool for himself, but practices his hobby in-shop as your friendly neighborhood card anbd rune reader to try helping others with their futures as well.

Virtues:

Flexible
I can do anything!

Caius is a flexible sort. While he has his own (strong, biting, firm) opinions, he's open to being wrong usually, and will go with what's going on around him for others. He's open to multiple options depending on situations, and he's generally found being flexible with scheduling his time, and activities, better than being a rigid a*****e. While he will always give his preferences, when asked, he's still entirely alright going other ways or adapting, as long as it harms none.

Patient
Be prepared!

Caius has all the patience in the world. Quiet meditation, careful study, working out problems -- Caius works on everything diligently, and with a distinct sense that it's better to wait and do well, than rush -- meaning waiting will also let him have a good time of handling other things... Like waiting at the DMV three ours for a new ID.

Flaws:

Vindictive
Be prepared!

If you are suffering and Caius doesn't like you, then he's gonna be happy to watch. This is apparently a bad thing, he is told -- and while he tries not to be happy.. He can't help it. If someone he dislikes is getting a bad time, he wants to e therte to watch, ideally with a bowl of popcorn, and he's highly unlikely to feel any ounce of guilt at all. Sadly, this isn't something he's known to hide -- he's invited people he likes to join him in watching, so they sometimes do kind of worry about his psychological well being when he starts grinning at the suffering of his enemies.

Paranoid
Paranoia, paranoia!

Caius is scared of being in a strange city with no idea how he got there. Because of this, Caius has major issues with some things. He's absolutely sure someone - he doesn't know who - is out to get him. Not only that, they want to get him NOW. Caius is usually looking over his shoulder and preparing for the worst, and urges others to do the same. He means well, but he can't help the fact he's coming off as a paranoid nut.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Narrow, teal-green. Eternally smug, even!

Hair: He used to keep it up un a black fauxhawk, but it's grown out sort of scruffy in that hot boyfriend way. Also, black.

Face: LEAN. Nathan is a bit on the thin side, and so he's very slim without knowing how he lost some weight, with a sort of smug look. His complexion is an average, good, Italian man though!

Clothes: Caius favours nice styles that can be casual or formal.... At the club. Jeans, and nice tees or polos, with some new age accessories for him!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Knight Title: Gobekli Tepe of Saturn

Challenge: I am the karmic retribution.

Uniform: CC mix of Alucard from Hellsing and modern gothic styles. This especially includes chains, brooch, and cufflinks. The Saturn symbol however is best left to cufflinks, or a brooch. Or both. Nothing more.

Weapon & Magic

Page Weapon: A plain, basic tarot card. Doesn't look fancy actually. So horrifying.
Squire: A tarot card - Death. It actually looks... Like a professional card.
Squire Magic: All Gobekli Tepe needs to do is spin the tarot cards in his fingers and focus on an enemy. The enemy is then struck with a horrifying, ominous feeling they're being watched. They don't know what it is, but the fear is the sort that something... Otherworldly and potentially Lovecraftian is watching hungrily. This feeling lasts 30 seconds and after that, the feeling fades away.

Knight Weapon: A death tarot card, even fancier than before - even bits of gold now! Faaancy.
Knight Magic: All Gobekli Tepe needs to do is spin the tarot cards in his fingers and focus on an enemy. The enemy is then struck with a horrifying, ominous feeling they're being watched. They don't know what it is, but the fear is the sort that something... Otherworldly and potentially Lovecraftian is watching hungrily. This feeling lasts 40 seconds and after that, the feeling fades away.

Summons -- A black unicorn with red eyes. It doesn't use magic. It functions like a large, clydesdale sized horse and can either protect someone or carry them away or down the side of an erupting volcano while the rider drinks a chalice willed with the laughter of small children. Come on,it's a scary unicorn. To note, it doesn't actually attack anybody either -- it's scary, not violent.

History:

Nate's story is twisted, perhaps, in a way many would not expect.

Originating in Seattle Washington, Nathan Adello began as a normal civilian, working with a shop in the Seattle-Tacoma area as a clerk in a new age store to add to his collection and learn multiple paths from customers, and in his time, he made a friend with, unknown to him, a Negaverse agent...

Seattle, Washington - 6 months ago.

Levianthanite was desperate. The Seattle division needed results to report for youma research and they didn't find prey easily - not as easily as Destiny City by far. Public transportation, a bustling night life, and a careful trio of cities made finding subjects difficult, but the Lieutenant was, well, desperate. His superiours demanded a specimen tonight, or his starseed was forfeit for use itself, so, the Agent paced anxiously as he waited and thought, and frowned in his civilian form before a hand clamped down on his shoulder, warm and friendly and familiar, and he looked back o the face of his friend.

Nathan wasn't the best, but he wasn't a jerk. Leviathanite was quite fond, but, on the same token, the agent was still worried and gave a shaky grin as Nathan spoke.

"Hey Scott." Nate's tone was gentle and easy. Work was over and the man was pleased and surprised to see a friend so near to work, beaming warmly.

"Oh. Hey Nate." Leviathanite responded with a shaky voice, and Nathan tilted his head.

"Hey, you OK?" He asked.

Leviathanite swallowed.

How do you tell your bro you're going to Die? he wondered. Nathan appeared unconvinced, frowning at his friend as he shook his head.

"Don't look fine." Nate pointed out. "Look scared."

Silence. Leviathanite felt a lump in his throat, and wondered again how to explain, before getting an idea.

A horrid, malicious idea, and he looked to Nate.

"It's nothing. Hey, wanna check out a shop with me?" He suddenly asked. He didn't like this, but... Well, Leviathanite tende3d to put himself first often. And if Nathan survived, surely he'd understand. Nathan nodded.

"Course man."

A grin worked it's way across Leviathanite's face, and he grabbed Nate's hand, suddenly moving.

The walk through Seattle was dampened by a light drizzle as the city was often bathed in, wrought by the Puget Sound upon the Tri-Cities and by geography, being a northern region closer to cooler climates. Downtown Seatle was bustling and busy, but the destination was easy to locate. Still, Leviathanite was merhodic and careful, winding through useless paths to disorient before approaching the front for the Negaverse Research and Development department. It was noty obvious, nor clear what the building was for, but Leviathanite lead Nathan in expertly, the other man glancing about as he was guided. Winding corridors pockmarked the old building and hid sights, but the building smelled stale and mildewy, cold and wet, and Nathan wrinkled his nose briefly as Leviathanite entered a room, a young woman in a uniform sitting, pink piping the only hint of color on a drag, gray uniform, and she regarded Leviathanite idly.

"Oh, is this all?" She asked. Nathan blinked, looking to his friend as he nodded grimly.

"Yes, General-Queen Hazelite."

Hazelite? What? Nathan glanced to his friend, whom fidgeted, swallowing as the imposing woman rose, approaching and studying Nate appraisingly before glancing idly to the shadows, and a single lit candle, motioning.

"Wick, take i."

Leviathanite gasped, as the flame of the candle leapt down, forming into a flame before becoming a man of fire, and he stepped back in alarm, eyes widening as it approached Leviathanite, Hazelite smiling sharply. The youma itself reached into Leviathanite's chest, withdrawing a small crystalline thing as Nathan tried backing away in confusion and terror. The flame-man licked it;s maw once, twice, and then bit down, swallowing the starseed and suddenly Leviathanite collapsed, body still in death. Nathan, for his part, paled, backing away a moment before Hazelite turned for him, and smiled.

"Knock him out, Wick." She crooned. "I've work to do on our precious, now don't I?"

---

Unconsciousness had come swiftly when the youma knocked Nathan out, and when he slept, he dreamed of spiders. While Nathan thought unconsciousness did not include dreaming, this time - this time did not appear the case.

He was surrounded by web, and around him the tramp of millions of spiders crept and crawled and sounded, loud with a shhh shh shh as they marched in all sizes and shapes. Wherever Nathan moved, there was web, in his eyes, ears, nose, mouth. If he weren't arachnophobic, when he woke surely he would be, and the young man tried finding a pathway out, trying to sort his mind before a large bestial figure seemed to drop before him.

The appearance was man and spider fused and he felt his skin crawl as it studied him.

And spoke.

"We can make you handsome, yes." It cooed.

"...I'm already amazing."

"I can do more. You will be power and beauty; you will be perfection." The spider youma moved, adjusting, idly spinning before beginning to wrap him in thread. "You have so little choice but to argue with Sh'kkoth. So very little. We could cooperate, be a whole, or I can devour you and make you fade. It is your choice."

It peered with human but arachnid eyes, serene and menacing and Nathan eyed it.

"...What else is in it for me?" He asked lowly.

Sh'kkoth purred.

"Power. Skill. Ability beyond a human's comprehension." Webbing wound around his waist and bound his wrists, drawing him close to him calmly.

"Bind with me. Bind, and become richly rewarded, Nathan Adello. Bind[/i[. And become mine, and I, yours."

The creature was purring, whispering softly before Nathan thought. Was this a test of the gods? Some spirit? A totem? Possibly, and finally he nodded.

"Fine."

Sh'kkoth beamed, and suddenly all was black when Chaos began pumping into his starseed, fusion welcomed and accepted.

---

Nate awoke groggy and disoriented, feeling in more places than he was used to, vision slowly becoming clearer and he winced at the change. He saw far more readily, and fresh, new limbs gripped the ground and cradled himself as he stumbled to look himself over, gulping.

He changed. It had done something to him and - and the chaos numbed fear and salted his tongue against screaming and the newly corrupted agent rose, slowly and painfully as he looked about, inspecting his uniform slowly and carefully. He bore no weapon but his hands, but he smelled chaos and felt auras - chaos and that of weaker, lessened beings - humans? Others like him?

However he'd changed and felt fangs in his mouth, sharp, cruel, and his skin was gray and colorless, leaving him to wonder.

What have I done? The Half-Youma wondered, before the voice of Hazelite greeted him, smug and bell like.

"You wake." She crooned. She twirled her fingers around the flame - possibly Wick - of a candfle by her, and he swallowed, nodding.

"Good. Tell me your name - not your human one." She beamed, and he felt compelled to answer.

"I... Coffinite, ma'am." He swallowed. Hazelite crooned.

"Coffinite, mmm. Fitting. You will be fed, and then, you will be sent to my superiors in Destiny City. Welcome to the Negaverse, Coffinite."

A slow smile, one that shook Coffinite deeply.

"Welcome to the.... Family.

From Wikipedia

Coffinite is a uranium-bearing silicate mineral with formula: U(SiO4)1-x(OH)4x.

It occurs as black incrustations, dark to pale-brown in thin section. It has a grayish black streak. It has a brittle to conchoidal fracture. The hardness of coffinite is between 5 and 6.

It was first described in 1954 for an occurrence at the La Sal No. 2 Mine, Beaver Mesa, Mesa County, Colorado, USA, and named for American geologist Reuben Clare Coffin (1886–1972). It has widespread global occurrence in Colorado Plateau-type uranium ore deposits of uranium and vanadium. It replaces organic matter in sandstone and in hydrothermal vein type deposits. It occurs in association with uraninite, thorite, pyrite, marcasite, roscoelite, clay minerals and amorphous organic matter.

Composition

Coffinite's chemical formula is U(SiO4)1-x(OH)4x.[4] X-ray powder patterns from samples of coffinite allowed geologists to classify it as a new mineral in 1955. A comparison to the x-ray powder pattern of zircon (ZrSiO4) and thorite (ThSiO4) was the basis for this classification. Preliminary chemical analysis indicated that the uranous silicate exhibited hydroxyl substitution. The results of Sherwood’s preliminary chemical analysis were based on samples from three locations. Hydroxyl bonds and silicon-oxygen bonds also proved to exist after infrared absorption spectral analyses were performed. The hydroxyl substitution occurs as (OH)44- for (SiO4)2-. The hydroxyl constituent in coffinite later proved to be nonessential in the formation of a stable synthetic mineral. Recent electron microprobe analysis of the submicroscopic crystals uncovered an abundance of calcium, yttrium, phosphorus, and minimal lead substitutions along with traces of other rare earth elements.

Crystal structure

Coffinite is isostructural with the orthosilicates zircon (ZrSiO4) and thorite (ThSiO4). Stieff et al. analyzed coffinite using the x-ray powder diffraction technique and determined that it has a tetragonal structure. Occurring naturally with U4+ cations, the UO8 triangular dodecahedra coordinate with edge-sharing, alternating SiO4 tetrahedra in chains along the c-axis. The central uranium site of coffinite is surrounded by eight SiO4 tetrahedra. The lattice dimensions of naturally-occurring and synthetic coffinite are similar, with a naturally-occurring sample from Arrowhead Mine, Mesa County, Colorado having a=6.93kx, c=6.30kx, and a sample synthesized by Hoekstra and Fuchs having a=6.977kx and c=6.307kx.

Physical properties

Initial examination of coffinite by Stieff et al. described the mineral as black in color with an adamantine luster, indistinguishable from uraninite (UO2).[6] Additionally, the discoverers reported that although no cleavage is seen in coffinite, it does exhibit subconchoidal fracturing and is very fine grained. Initial samples showed a brittle texture and a hardness between 5 and 6, with a specific gravity of 5.1. Later samples from Woodrow Mine in New Mexico collected by Moench showed fibrous internal structure and exceptional crystallization. A polished thin section of coffinite has a brown color and shows anisotropic transmission of light. Optical analysis yielded a refractive index of about 1.74.

Geological occurrence

Coffinite was first discovered in sedimentary uranium deposits in the Colorado Plateau region, but has also been discovered in sedimentary uranium deposits and hydrothermal veins in many other locations. Samples of coffinite from the Colorado Plateau were found with black fine-grained low-valence vanadium minerals, uraninite and finely dispersed black organic material. Other materials associated with later finds from the same region were clay and quartz. In vein deposits of the Copper King Mine in Colorado, coffinite was also found to occur with uraninite and pitchblende. Formation of coffinite requires a uranium source, and may happen in reducing conditions, as evidenced by the associated presence of low-valence vanadium minerals. Silica-rich solution provides such a reducing condition in cases where coffinite results as an alteration product of uraninite. Hansley and Fitzpatrick also noted that the brownish color of their coffinite samples was caused by organic material, leading them to conclude that coffinite can also form in low temperature conditions if organic carbon is present. This finding is consistent with the coffinite samples of the Colorado Plateau, which included fossilized wood.[9] In China, coffinite can be found in granite in addition to sandstone. Hansley and Fitzpatrick concluded that coarse-grained coffinite most likely forms in high temperature environments. Coffinite and uraninite precipitate inside brecciated and fractured regions of altered granite at pressures between 500 to 800 bars and temperatures at 126 to 178 °C.

Special characteristics

A large percentage of the Earth’s uranium supply is contained in coffinite deposits, which is significant because of uranium’s uses in nuclear energy and weaponry applications. Sedimentary deposits contain the most radioactive samples, as evidenced by the intensely radioactive coffinite found in the Colorado Plateau. Researchers at Harvard University, the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and several other institutions attempted unsuccessfully to synthesize coffinite in the mid-1950s after its initial discovery. In 1956, Hoekstra and Fuchs managed to create stable samples of synthetic coffinite. All of this research was conducted for the United States Atomic Energy Commission.

From Wikipedia

Spiders (order Araneae) are air-breathing arthropods that have eight legs and chelicerae with fangs that inject venom. They are the largest order of arachnids and rank seventh in total species diversity among all other orders of organisms. Spiders are found worldwide on every continent except for Antarctica, and have become established in nearly every habitat with the exceptions of air and sea colonization. As of 2008, at least 43,678 spider species, and 109 families have been recorded by taxonomists; however, there has been dissension within the scientific community as to how all these families should be classified, as evidenced by the over 20 different classifications that have been proposed since 1900.

Anatomically, spiders differ from other arthropods in that the usual body segments are fused into two tagmata, the cephalothorax and abdomen, and joined by a small, cylindrical pedicel. Unlike insects, spiders do not have antennae. In all except the most primitive group, the Mesothelae, spiders have the most centralized nervous systems of all arthropods, as all their ganglia are fused into one mass in the cephalothorax. Unlike most arthropods, spiders have no extensor muscles in their limbs and instead extend them by hydraulic pressure.

Their abdomens bear appendages that have been modified into spinnerets that extrude silk from up to six types of silk glands within their abdomen. Spider webs vary widely in size, shape and the amount of sticky thread used. It now appears that the spiral orb web may be one of the earliest forms, and spiders that produce tangled cobwebs are more abundant and diverse than orb-web spiders. Spider-like arachnids with silk-producing spigots appeared in the Devonian period about 386 million years ago, but these animals apparently lacked spinnerets. True spiders have been found in Carboniferous rocks from 318 to 299 million years ago, and are very similar to the most primitive surviving order, the Mesothelae. The main groups of modern spiders, Mygalomorphae and Araneomorphae, first appeared in the Triassic period, before 200 million years ago.

A herbivorous species, Bagheera kiplingi, was described in 2008,[5] but all other known species are predators, mostly preying on insects and on other spiders, although a few large species also take birds and lizards. Spiders use a wide range of strategies to capture prey: trapping it in sticky webs, lassoing it with sticky bolas, mimicking the prey to avoid detection, or running it down. Most detect prey mainly by sensing vibrations, but the active hunters have acute vision, and hunters of the genus Portia show signs of intelligence in their choice of tactics and ability to develop new ones. Spiders' guts are too narrow to take solids, and they liquidize their food by flooding it with digestive enzymes and grinding it with the bases of their pedipalps, as they do not have true jaws.

Male spiders identify themselves by a variety of complex courtship rituals to avoid being eaten by the females. Males of most species survive a few matings, limited mainly by their short life spans. Females weave silk egg-cases, each of which may contain hundreds of eggs. Females of many species care for their young, for example by carrying them around or by sharing food with them. A minority of species are social, building communal webs that may house anywhere from a few to 50,000 individuals. Social behavior ranges from precarious toleration, as in the widow spiders, to co-operative hunting and food-sharing. Although most spiders live for at most two years, tarantulas and other mygalomorph spiders can live up to 25 years in captivity.

While the venom of a few species is dangerous to humans, scientists are now researching the use of spider venom in medicine and as non-polluting pesticides. Spider silk provides a combination of lightness, strength and elasticity that is superior to that of synthetic materials, and spider silk genes have been inserted into mammals and plants to see if these can be used as silk factories. As a result of their wide range of behaviors, spiders have become common symbols in art and mythology symbolizing various combinations of patience, cruelty and creative powers. An abnormal fear of spiders is called arachnophobia.
