Name: Araceli Doryu (Doryu is Ara's adoptive parents' last name. Her original surname is Pele)
Stage: Master
Gender: ♀ Female
Clan: Ayrala
Personality: Araceli is a very patient, stubborn and determined dovaa. Once she’s set on a course it’s very hard to make her stray. This was most obvious to those around her relationship with Detraeus first started. The oblivionite, just as stubborn (if not more so) and untrusting in his own rights, was someone that tested her patience beyond what she thought it was possible to bend. Now a mom to two very rambunctious, twin, hybrid children, Ara’s patience is something that comes in very handy in all kinds of situations.
She has always loved to go on adventures and explore new places. Ara was always traveling with her parents when they visited the different continents and almost always ventured off by herself. Once she was settled down on Eowyn, with a place of her own and a business, however, the adventures stopped.
Animate and energetic, Ara puts her whole self into whatever she is doing. Whether this is fighting, hunting, cooking, etc she puts as much effort into it as she possibly can. Her optimism has gotten her through many tough problems.
She’s a very honest and straightforward individual. So if you aren’t looking for a completely truthful answer then it’s best not to ask her a question. Down deep, under all the optimism and animate personality, Araceli can be very self-conscious. This was more pronounced in her younger adult years and she’s grown to learn how to not show it in public. There are times, though, when certain things make her doubt herself and what others think of her.
Araceli is a very devoted friend and person in general. She has a loving heart and wants to be there for her friends whenever possible. If you’re in her inner circle she’ll do whatever is in her power to protect you. Go after her babies and you’re in for a hell of a beating.
In her younger years she was a very judgmental individual and practiced a lot of the racism that was always associated with oblivionites. After meeting both Casseth and Detraeus, however, those ideals finally started to crack and crumble. Both proved that not everything is black and white. She still holds over some of her judgements, though, and is slower to trust those of oblivionite heritage.
Likes: As an ayrala Ara’s love of wind is a no brainer. Even as a child she’s always loved the wind in her hair and has always felt refreshed. Her connect to the wind also, in some ways, gives her a connection to her birth mother. Despite not being peisio, she grew up in a household where both her parents were peisio. This lead to lots of water time on vacations and trips and eventually lead to a love of everything water and swimming.
As she grew older her love of cooking, and baking in particular, grew more and more. Eventually, when she got her own place on Eowyn, she grew a small baking business where she catered to both merchants and private clientele. She grew well known and enjoyed every minute of it. One of her most prized possessions includes a book that was passed down from her grandmother, to her mother and then, finally, to Araceli.
One of her favorite places to be is the windy continent of Ayr. It was a place of joy, fun and even passion, when Detra and her visited it. She can’t remember a time, ever, when she felt as free as she did when they were on that continent. Eventually she would love to own a second home there.
Dislikes: One of Araceli’s main fears is all things arachnid like. She despises the insects very much. It is probably one of her most simple and oldest of dislikes. Give her any other kind of bug and she is fine. Sit something with eight legs down in front of her though and it’s over. This may pose some problems when it comes to her son.
Veinrith Stadium is a place she loathes and wishes would crumble in on itself. When she first found out about it she tolerated it, visiting a few times with her old boyfriend, Callum, and then Lithian. Both Casseth and Detraeus have been a part of the place and she worried each time either of them went into the pit. Both of them have had close calls in the place and she couldn’t be more happier that they’re both done with the place, now. Especially Detra. At the end, she worried herself sick each time he entered into that hell.
Fears: One of Araceli’s biggest fears is losing her family. This extends beyond her children, mate and Detraeus and includes those friends most close to her (Lithian, Cass, Cici). She would be devistated to lose any of those people. Though she would be most devastated at the loss of her mate or twins. Those three are her world and she worked very hard to have them all. Threaten her family
Another, and more recently developed, fear of Ara’s is being held down or restrained in some way. Thanks to a couple of very bad experiences with a crazy, ex boyfriend, Araceli developed this fear. Tie her up or hold her down and she’ll become very distressed. Usually, on the outside, she does her best to remain calm, but the longer she’s held against her will, the more the facade crumbles.
Thoughts on the Other Races: As a dovaa herself, Araceli is very biased towards the race and is the one she trusts the most. She realizes, though, that they’re not flawless. Even those of the neutral race have their negative qualities and racism still seeps into the Celestial Plane.
Oblivionites were once a race she completely hated. She loathed them and wouldn’t have cried had they all been killed off. As she grew older and met a certain oblivionite her views slowly started to shift. She still holds a great distrust to most oblivionites and is wary when meeting a new one.
When Ara was a small child, orderites were the race she trusted. Second only to the dovaa. She spent a lot of her time on Serenia with her parents and therefor had a biased opinion on them as well. After meeting Detraeus and learning of his dark past Ara no longer feels to camaraderie she once felt with the orderites. Even with this information, she still realizes that not orderites are like the ones who took Detra as a child. So she reserves her judgement for each individual.
Hybrids were always an iffy race for her. She never minded them as long as they didn’t have oblivionite blood. This began to change after she met Casseth and the hybrid turned her views upside down. Now, in a mixed race relationship, Araceli has two little, wonderful hybrid children of her own and wouldn’t change them for the world.
Thoughts on the Great Engagement: Aeracli has no personal investment in the Great Engagement and would prefer to stay neutral on the subject. She has no vested interest in help the orderites or the oblivionites. She only cares about protecting her family and friends and would do whatever it took to keep them out of the line of fire.
Thoughts on the Dragons and Khehora: Dragons are a symbol of power and not to be underestimated. She has always hunted them but at the same time she respects them and the sacrifice they give to help make her stronger. Khehora, as Ara has noted in the past, are very different from dragons. They hold an intelligence that is lost on the dragons. She’s had a very limited experience with the khehora, personally and she really doesn’t see the point in having one as a companion. To each their own, though.
