Araceli’s head ached as she sat against the rock, trying to figure out what her next move would be. She had come here to explore, not hunt dragons. It seemed, however, that the dragons had other plans for her. She let out a small sigh as she bit into the piece of fruit she’d brought along with her and took a swig of the water in her canteen. She looked through her pack, going over what she had brought with her. She frowned at the lack of weapons. She really did need to invest in something if she wanted to protect herself fully. Closing up her pack, she gobbled down the last bit of fruit and stood up.

Her ears twitched at what sounded like claws scraping against rock. She crouched down and behind some rocks as the scaly body of a small Ayrala dragon emerged from around the corner. Ara smiled, thinking it’d be a good chance to test her skills on a younger one. Her smile faded from her face quickly as a couple more Ayrala dragons appeared around the corner. A family then? Maybe a nest was nearby. She cringed at the thought of trying to take on all three of them at once. The baby she could probably handle but the adults? Yeah, she wasn’t even attempting that. They’d probably rip her in half before she got the first throw in.

She stayed crouched behind the rocks as she continued to watch the dragons interact. It almost made her feel sorry for them, watching the baby play with it’s parents. She knew, in the back of her mind, that if they didn’t hunt the dragons that it wouldn’t take long before the over ran the Magescian population. The dragon family didn’t stick around much longer. Soon, they were on their way and Ara was able to come out from hiding.
