History Demi entered life as a runt in a sizable litter of 8. She was well cared for with her siblings and mother while in the humans' care, and she lived a very peaceful life. Every day was spent playing with her littermates and curling up against their mom for naps, but when the kittens became eight weeks old, the humans began doing strange things. Demi noticed that several other, unfamiliar humans would enter the house, and when that happened her siblings would start disappearing. Very soon, she was one of the last kittens left in the house.
That was when he came along, the human man who would be the one to take her away. When he first left the house with her, Demi was frightened, and in her small crate on the passenger's seat of his car, she myewled relentlessly and clawed at the plastic confinement. Taking pity on her, the man had spoken soft words as he opened the door to her carrier and allowed her free reign of the car. Although she was hesitant at first, Demi was soon out and exploring the car, and she eventually found a comfortable spot on top of the crate that had confined her. It amazed her, watching the world pass by all around her; how were they able to move so fast? Her fears about the human and the fact that she had been taken from her home were quickly turning into excitement at the exploration possibilities.
Before returning to the man's home, they stopped in front of a small shop, and he left the bobtailed kitten in the car for a few moments while he went in. When he returned again and got back into the car, he grabbed Demi and set her on his lap. Then he tied a green ribbon around her neck, fastening a cute bow in the back. Demi's ears twitched at the jingling of a small, silver bell that hung from the front of her new 'collar' and bounced off the guy's lap, twisting herself around and trying to get at the noisy thing. She worked with all four paws to try and get the ribbon and the jingling bell off of herself, but to no avail. Eventually, as the car started up again, the vibrations from the engine and the jingling of the bell lulled her to sleep. Demi decided after a while that the bell wasn't an unlikable thing.
The real problem waited for the kitten at the man's house. If he had gotten Demi for himself, she most likely would have remained as a contented housecat, but instead, the man bought her for his daughter. Cradling the cat carefully, he ascended the stairs to his apartment and entered quietly, moving until he found himself in his daughter's doorway.
"Mai~" He called softly into the room, keeping one hand over Demi and gently squishing her down into his other. A young girl with curly brown pigtail's bounced up from a mound of pillows on her bed and looked up at her father with round, chocolate eyes. Seeing the sneaky grin on his face, the girl smiled brightly and clambered off her bed to run over to him, "Yes papa?"
Kneeling down to her level, the man smiled affectionately at his little girl, "Mai, Papa has brought you home a new friend. Look, Mai." With that, he lifted his hand away and Demi's bell jingled lightly as the kitten's deep golden eyes blinked up at the girl. Demi was confused at first as she stared into the large eyes of the child, and so she mewed curiously at her. The child's face lit up and she giggled suddenly at the kitten, "Papa! She's cute, Papa! Can I hold her?"
The man obliged and Demi was handed over to the girl, who held her awkwardly for a few moments before finally sitting down on the floor with her. The kitten began an unconscious purring as the girl played with her ears and pet the soft fur on her back. Always curious, the bobtailed kitten soon was more interested in the various things decorating the girl's room than the girl herself, and she wiggled out of her arms to walk over to a large stuffed teddy leaning against her desk. Suddenly, the girl screamed in a horrified tone, startling Demi so that she turned back to face her again, her own fur bristling from the shock. "Papa! You're terrible!" She cried, running over to grab her Father's arm for security even as she scolded him, "Why did you cut the kitty's tail off?!" Confused, Demi mewed softly and began walking over to the girl again. "No! Don't come over here!" The girl cried again, scooting behind her father's arm.
"M-Mai... Calm down, Papa didn't cut her tail off; it's how she was born! Her breed is known as an American Bobtail, so they naturally have shorter tails..." The man tried to comfort her, but the girl shook her head and watched Demi with glistening brown eyes, on the verge of tears. "I'm sorry Papa, I can't stand to look at her! It's too sad! Cat's are supposed to have tails, Papa!" The man was a little at a loss for his daughter's sudden hysterical fright, and as he tried to think of how to fix it, Mai's mother came into the room.
She looked first at her daughter, huddled against her father and crying, then at the stubby-tailed cat in the middle of the room and sighed. "I thought we agreed to discuss this matter before making any decisions," She began with a slightly irritated tone; the man turned his head to look up at her with a somewhat nervous laugh.
"Dear, it was such a cute little cat! I really think having a kitten around the house would be good for Mai!" He began, aware that his daughter was clinging to him as Demi began to approach her again. "How will it be good for her if she's scared to death of it?!" Mai's mother snapped, pointing down at the green-ribboned cat, "Get rid of it; Mai doesn't need a cat that's going to frighten her. And don't bring any more animals home until we've discussed it first!" Picking up her daughter and taking her into the kitchen for dinner, the woman left him in the room with the cat.
The man's face fell and his shoulder's visibly sagged. Demi twitched her short tail and bounced over to him, placing her forepaws on his knee and rubbing her face against his hand with relieved mews. The young girl's screaming voice had frightened Demi as well. With an unhappy sigh, the man gently picked the kitten up again and left his apartment with her. It was far too late to drive her all the way back to the place where he had gotten her, so he instead chose to take her to a park where children frequently played. "You're sure to get picked up here and taken to a nice home, little cat." He murmured to her as he set her down in the grass, a little ways away from a small playground, "Just stay here until the children come to play tomorrow; I'm sure one of them will love you." Demi purred at the man as he stroked her head, she didn't really understand what he was trying to say.
When he got up to leave, she mewed loudly and bounded after him, stopping when he turned back to her and set her back in her original place. "You need to stay here, I'm afraid. I can't take you home with me." He said quietly, patting her on the head before turning and running back to his car. Now Demi was confused. Tipping her head to the side, she mewed again as he took off, and when he got into his car again, the kitten jumped to her paws and ran after him. The car was interesting because she could see everything around her as they moved. Unfortunately, the man didn't hold the door open for her, so she pulled up to a stop a few yards from the car and mewed again when the engine started up and he pulled away. Surely, something was wrong. He must not have realized that she wasn't in the car yet! Demi sat down and mewed to herself; he would realize she wasn't there and come back.
Hours later, Demi was still waiting. Her ears fell back in uncertainty as the moon glowed high above her; he didn't come back. Turning back to the spot he had originally put her, Demi's gazed over the landscape of the park and the children's playground and suddenly felt very insecure. A dog began barking in the distance, and the kitten made her way towards a couple of low-growing bushes, pushing her way under their boughs and curling up into a tight ball for sleep.
She didn't have any interest in the children who came to the park to play the next day; she had decided that she didn't like their wailing voices. So when the sun was out the next day and small humans were running amok in the park, the little bobtailed kit wiggled out of her hiding place and began her unending quest to find a safe home in this new town. Personality: Having been picked on a lot by her siblings because of her small size, Demi developed a bit of a stubborn streak. She's a little overconfident in her abilities to do whatever she needs to, and she loves proving herself in competition. She doesn't settle for taunting or bullying from other cats, and instead of rolling over and taking it, she delights in pushing the envelope and seeing how far she can press her luck. Outlook: Despite being rejected by the human who was supposed to own her and being abandoned at a young age, Demi's got a pretty positive outlook on life. In her mind, she abandoned her life with the humans, not the other way around, and she's just fine without them. She has a way of turning any situation into something positive and exciting for herself. Plays Well With Others?: Although she's very stubborn and defensive of herself, Demi really does prefer to have the company of other cats around her. Being left alone for a few weeks as she wandered Ikebukero, she's become quite independent, so such a nature will clash with her socialization skills. Even though she can come off as a bit of a punk, she really doesn't like leaving an encounter with sour feelings, and will nearly always, at her own chagrin, do her best to atone for whatever she might have said or done that rubbed someone the wrong way. Likes: Seafood of all kinds, Exploring new and unfamiliar places, Adventure, The scent of powdered kitten formula, Meeting new cats, Bells and Wind Chimes Dislikes: Grumpy and/or bossy cats, Summer, Being overheated, Cat food (the dry kind), Vegetables, the uneven ground of forests outside the city

With her belly stuffed full of ramen, little Demi padded down a quiet alley with a contented bounce in her step. Not having any one permanent place to call home, she headed for the richer neighborhoods, having taking a liking to a certain cat's back yard. Her furry little head was filled with excitement despite her physical exhaustion. The little bobtail had just finished her first training exercise with her new mentor, and had been promised more early the next day.
So caught up was she in her own thoughts, that Demi didn't notice the sound of other paws pattering behind her own until it was too late. One cat brushed by a trash bin, the sound of metal brushing fur gaining her attention. First her ears shifted back to affirm what she thought she heard, then she turned her head and glanced back. Four vaguely familiar toms crowded the alleyway behind her, all of them gazing at her through narrowed eyes. Stopping in her tracks, the young girl turned to face them with a hand on her hip in cheeky fashion. "Yes? Is there something I can help you boys with?" She yowled to them, her voice light but still holding a threatening undertone. Deep gold eyes shifted from one tom to the next and an uncertain knot began working up in the pit of her stomach.
"My, that's a pretty authoritative tone coming from a little trespasser," One of them growled, his eyes taking in the tattered clothing of the young female before him with a gleam. A larger cat beside him grinned, showing off glittering fangs, "Where's that pretty lady you were with before? I wanted to get my claws into that fiery fur of hers again..." The hungry growl that pervaded his words made Demi shiver unconsciously. That's why they looked familiar... Her eyes rested on the smallest male; he still looked shifty and uncertain of himself with his buddies, but the way his dark eyes glared at her with the same hungry gleam made her remember all-too-clearly their run-in before. These were the cats that Alice had chosen for their first dance lesson...
Feeling more uncertain now that she had made her realization, Demi slipped a paw into the pocket of her torn skirt and fingered the round silver objects inside. How was she going to get herself out of this mess? "Sorry to disappoint you, but we parted ways a couple days ago." She returned, her voice rolling a little as a defensive growl seeped in, "She's not my keeper, you know." As a predator herself, Demi instinctively understood that running was the worst thing a creature could do when faced with something that was hunting them, and so she stayed rooted where she was, even as the four males hissed in laughter and began making their way toward her. Dusty brown ears tilted back, and golden eyes darkened and narrowed when the largest male glanced to his comrades and nodded a silent order.
Her claws unsheathed themselves as the toms closed in, fanning out to form a semicircle around her. "That's fine, sweetheart," The largest hissed, sneering at her, "You'll do just as well." Demi's gaze shifted between them as their legs trembled slightly; this was it. "That's what you think." Demi snarled softly, seizing a couple of the round balls in her pocket and jerking her hand out to thrust them at the ground suddenly. They popped, erupting with dark pink smoke that swiftly billowed and blanketed the alley. This would give her time to run, the kit thought and jumped back away from the growling toms who had all rushed forward in that instant. Making scarcely a sound, the bobtail thought she was home free as she took another leap back and turned to race down the alley. Her paws beat the pavement furiously as she exited the other side and tore across a street and into an unfamiliar construction site. Pieces of chain-link fencing stood up all around her and several planks of wood, metal bars, and various tools and debris littered the dusty ground as she made her way through. Unknown to her, the coast wasn't completely clear.
Creeping above the ground, through the scaffolding, his dark eyes watched as the small bobtail weaved and scrambled through the construction site. A small pink tongue darted out to lick at his lips as he took notice of her heaving chest. She was tiring quickly; this would make things a lot easier. Slipping over the wooden skeleton of the building in progress, the young tom reached the other end and slipped down to the ground again without a sound.
Demi was panting heavily as she made her way over a stack of boards and across another small clearing of dirt. Placing a paw against a smooth metal post, the bobtail hung her head and panted, her tongue lolling out of her mouth. She kept her ears back to catch the sound of anything that might have been following her as she fought to get enough air into her lungs again. Her legs burned and trembled, threatening to buckle at any moment as she turned her head and cast a weary glance over her shoulder. The site behind her looked quiet and undisturbed and with a huff, Demi closed her eyes in relief and turned to continue on her way, only to be met with a larger, warm body. Her eyes shot open again with a hiss and the bobtail lunged backwards, staring into the face of her dance partner from days ago.
"Clever move, little girl," He growled lowly, a pleased grin spreading over his features, "too bad it didn't do you any good." Demi stumbled backwards as he slowly made his way toward her, long tail flicking behind him as his eyes burned into her body. Her legs felt warm and rubbery, and her eyes slid half-closed as she panted in exhaustion. He closed the distance between them effortlessly and grabbed her arm firmly, pulling her in close. "You're mine now, little dancer, why don't we finish what you started before?" He held his face dangerously close to her own as he brought his other hand up to trace the line of her jaw with the tips of his unsheathed claws.
Demi growled and wriggled in his grasp, her ears flat against her head as she glared at him. "I didn't start anything like this!" She hissed, angry with herself as she felt the rest of her strength swiftly leaving her. The tom's claws scritched at her chin with a silent, threatening promise before trailing down the side of her neck and over the satin ribbon situated there. The blood pumping through her arteries throbbed against his fingertips, and he snickered, tracing her collar around before flicking at her bell and moving down. "You're mouth is pretty sharp for someone who was a pampered house-cat... Not that I mind of course; I rather like my women a little feisty." His claws traced lower until they were fingering the tattered cloth of her low-cut blouse and his eyes narrowed as a gleaming fang peeked out from beneath grinning lips.
Demi's skin crawled at his touch and she growled uncomfortably. The grip on her arm tightened as she began to jerk and struggle again, and the young girl's golden eyes smoldered as she glared into his own black holes. "I was never a pampered house-cat, you flea-bag!" She snarled, jerking her head forward suddenly and butting him in the face. She gave another powerful lunge as he yowled in pain and tore her arm free from his grasp. Pain flashed through her mind like fire as his claws dug in and tore. Crimson liquid swiftly bubbled at the wounds and spilled over, sending small rivulets snaking down her arm. With her claws flexing and at the ready, the young girl backed away from him again with the new-found strength of adrenaline that pumped through her veins.
With one hand clutching his bruised face, the tom's fury was piquing and he glared at the bobtail before him. His eyes flickered from the blood running down her arm to the furious expression on her face. "Bad move, little girl," He snarled, lowering his hand and balling it up into a fist as a sneer made it's way to his features again, "I was going to go gentle on you, but I guess there's no need for that now, is there?" With her eyes fixed keenly on him, Demi wasn't aware of the metal poles behind her until she stumbled back over one of them and unsteadily tried to regain her footing. In that instance, he lunged for her, one hand looping into the collar about her neck while the other grabbed at her hip. He held her face close and Demi felt the already uncomfortably tight collar grow even tighter as he twisted his hand just slightly.
No! Her mind screamed, suddenly finding it harder to breathe as the blood and oxygen were cut off at her throat, "N-No!" She coughed and gurgled a weak growl as her claws tore at the tom's hand and face. As her basic instinct for survival kicked in, Demi began to thrash violently in his grasp, pulling and jerking with everything she had, straining her muscles nearly to their breaking point. The male also yowled in pain as his face and arms were scored repeatedly by her claws, and he tightened his hold on her and trapped one of her hands between his teeth.
Demi snarled in pain and continued to pull against him; one hand dropping to her side and brushing against one of the bars she had tripped over before; this one was propped up against a fence behind her. Distance. She needed distance; she needed to get away from him! Wrapping her hand around the pole, Demi pulled with all her strength and whipped the metal bar around, smashing it into the side of the tom's head. As he recoiled, she thrashed again and managed to pull free finally. Threads snapped and tore as she jerked away and suddenly breathing was a lot easier again. The bobtail's head swam and her vision blurred as blood and oxygen resumed their normal course through her body. She stumbled away from him and staggered back to the fence, panting and glaring through glazed vision at the dark figure of the male. He was grabbing his head and growling in words that weren't discernible. Gripping her bar in both hands, Demi's face contorted with rage and she raised it up, charging him again and slamming it into his head, arms, ribs, anywhere she could connect.
He tried one last time to grab at her through her volley of hits, but succeeded only in grazing the cloth of her collar again before being deflected once more. Bruised and broken, the tom spat and sent one last glare at her before retreating. Demi, whose vision was only now slowly returning to normal, wheezed and let the bar drop to the ground. She felt warm and sticky at her neck and brought a hand up to feel at the collar.
Tink Tink.
The tattered satin ribbon snapped apart at that moment and fell to the ground, stained dark with blood and grit from her struggle. The male's claws had cut shallow wounds across her throat in his final attempt. Still breathing heavily, the bobtail stared down at the dirty bell and torn ribbon at her feet before falling to her knees with a shaky breath. Picking up the small, delicate object, she hugged it to her chest as tears began to spill from her eyes. Uncertain of what to do with all that adrenaline now that the threat had disappeared, the young girl cried, probably for the first time in her life. Her body shuddered with her sobs and she curled up in the dirt of the construction site and went on quietly until sleep and exhaustion overcame her weary self.

History Music blared and thumped through the floor and thin walls of the small apartment while an orange ball of fur lay curled up on the edge of a small bed. His ears were laid back with visible displeasure at the noise and he slept with one eye warily cracked open, watching the entrance to the room. The cat had been living comfortably with his owner in the small apartment for some months now. The young man who kept him had just recently moved from his parents' house and struck out on his own, taking his beloved Dhiren with him.
The cat preferred the small apartment to the more spacious house that he used to live in; it was easier to keep track of and protect. The one thing he didn't care for, however, was the way his human changed once they got settled into the new place. A suffocating scent flooded the room gradually, and Dhiren wrinkled his nose and tried to bury it in his paws and the fabric of the bedsheets. Ever since moving into this place, the Somali had noticed a multitude of strange new humans coming and going. Usually, they would flood in late at night and do strange things together until the sun was rising the next morning. These things were nearly always accompanied by this loud raucous music and strange smells that made the feline choke and feel light-headed. He had always done his best to stay scarce while all of this was going on.
It wouldn't have been so bad if that was all that had changed recently, but it wasn't. With the change in friends came a change in lifestyle. Dhiren had noticed the apartment becoming more and more unkempt as the days and weeks dragged on, and his litter-box was becoming atrocious. He had attempted to use that water-filled bowl that he had seen his human use before, but had been chased out before he could do anything; the silly human assumed he was trying to drink from the bowl.
The Somali Tom's fur bristled when suddenly one of the strange men came stumbling into the room. The man glanced at the frightened cat on the bed and attempted to smile at him, but it turned into more of a grimace as he continued on his way to the bathroom to relinquish the contents of his stomach to the toilet. Dhiren's ears flicked at the sound of another bumbling into the room. "Damn Keiichi! You're such a light-weight!" The other young man laughed loudly, leaning against the door frame of the bedroom. His face was shimmering with the sweat that clung to it, and his eyes seemed sunken in and only half-awake as he grinned stupidly at the open bathroom door. The tom cat's amber eyes remained fixed on him warily as the human's own gaze happened to rest on him. The man's face broke into an amused smile.
"Yo! You didn't tell me you had a cat, Shinsuke!" He called back out of the room with another rolling laugh. He stumbled off the door and over to the orange furball, "I used to have one of these things when I was like... five, man!" Dhiren's ears laid back as the human began poking at him, flicking his ears, and roughly petting his fur. Before the Somali had a chance to get away from the human, his face lit up with some unknown idea and his hand fisted in the cat's scruff, lifting him up unceremoniously. The tom gave off a strangled yowl that went unheard by the human as he passed Keiichi on his way out of the bathroom. Taking the cat with him back into the sitting room where Shinsuke and the other humans were gathered, the man laughed again. "You know, it's not nice to hold out on your little buddy here, Shinsuke! You should be ashamed, you a**!" The guy laughed again, falling down cross-legged near the table and dropping the Somali in his lap. He held the cat there with rough strokes to his fur, as Shinsuke looked over finally.
"Aww, you shouldn't have brought him out here, Takashi!" He growled, reaching for the cat, "He's not really very friendly. I don't think he likes the stuff we do."
Takashi batted the guy's hand away and scoffed, "You're full of s**t, man. This little p***y hasn't scratched me once. Someone get me a bowl!" Dhiren growled steadily to himself as the humans talked and fussed around him. He remained trapped in the Takashi's stinking lap, his fur repeatedly being pressed down by the large hand over him. Shinsuke glared at his friend, but couldn't do anything as long as the guy didn't want him to, so he watched as a couple of the others filled a bowl with sake and handed it to the man. Grabbing the bowl with one hand and shifting the cat's position with the other, Takashi set the bowl on the table and propped Dhiren's forepaws up onto it as well. "Man, you guys suck! This s**t's weak compared to what we usually get! Whatever, here ya go, man! Drink up!" He pushed at the orange cat's head as he rambled, shoving his nose into the bittersweet liquid. Dhiren snorted and coughed as the alcohol shot into his sinuses, and he pushed back in protest. The human swatted his head and grabbed hold of his jaw, working it open clumsily. "Hey man, don't you ******** fight me! I'm the only one who's willing to share with you!" With his thumb and forefinger jammed between the teeth of the small cat, Takashi tipped the bowl into his mouth, the contents spilling in and over the feline's face.
A gurgled yowl bubbled out as Dhiren spat and shook his head rapidly. He swallowed as much as he could but ended up choking on a good deal of the vile liquid, the fur on his face and chest slicked down with it as well. By this point, his human was growing steadily more irritated with his buddies and again reached for his cat. "That's enough Takashi, cut it out! He doesn't like it!" His protests were met with a hostile shove, and the man holding Dhiren got to his feet, again clutching the soggy cat by his scruff. "Shut the hell up, maybe this guy's just not a drinker! Do you still have any of those drugs left over from last time?" Without waiting for a response, Takashi began rummaging through various drawers in the kitchen and then in Shinsuke's room. Finally locating what he was after, Takashi grabbed up the syringe and stumbled back into the main room with the others.
"Here we go! This p***y better enjoy this stuff; it's expensive!" Dropping Dhiren back on the table, Takashi held him down with one hand still twisted around the cat's scruff. He poised the needle in his hand and stared blankly at the orange ball of fur before him for a few minutes. "Where the hell do you stab into these things?!" He yelled, giving Shinsuke a frustrated look, "Ah what the hell, I guess it doesn't matter. There's like a million blood vessels in cats, right?" Before Shinsuke could stop him, the man jabbed the needle into Dhiren's back, just off from his spine, and injected the liquid. By some strange stroke of luck, the human managed to hit a blood vessel, and the cat's fur burned as the liquid raced through his body. Yowling wildly, the Somali arched his back and flipped around, swiping furious claws at the human and darting off the table. Takashi's enraged shouts erupted behind him as the orange cat ran from the main room. The door to the apartment was just being opened as even more people entered, and the tom wasted no time in darting out the exit.
Slamming into the opposite wall of the hallway, Dhiren hissed and spat, flipping himself over as the searing heat seemed to engulf his body. Several of the people in Shinsuke's apartment rushed after the cat, and when he saw them coming, amber eyes shot open and he snarled before shooting off down the hallway. One of the doors to the outside had been left propped open from the neighbors that were moving in earlier, giving the Somali a clear shot into the outside world. Without thinking where he was going, the cat took off and didn't stop running until he was in a quiet, grassy place beneath some low growing bushes. The drugs in his system were beginning to be too much to handle as his vision swam and the heat reached dizzying heights. Panting heavily, and with fur matted and sticky, the Somali tomcat flopped over on the ground. His breathing was hard and his eyes slid half-shut. The world was moving around too much to focus on anything anyway. In his delusional state, Dhiren would growl suddenly at nothing, and his chest reverberated with the furious rumbles. He understood that this would be the last he saw of Shinsuke, and he vowed that he wouldn't ever go back to any human again. Soon after thinking such dark and final thoughts, blackness descended on him, and he fell into a deep, dreamless sleep. Personality: Dhiren's a very serious, no nonsense cat. He usually comes off to others as being grumpy and unsociable, even when he really wants the company of another. He's socially awkward in the sense that he doesn't really know how to handle himself in more intimate situations and is terrible with women. Even with these shortcomings, he's a very proud, stubborn character and won't admit to his faults easily. Outlook: Towards humans, it's very sour. He dislikes and distrusts all humans with good reason. Despite continuing to live among them in Ikebukero, he does his best to avoid them completely. With other cats, he shows more tolerance, and will allow his time to be shared with another, but only when he feels like it. Persistant or noisy cats will be met with a very unpleasant Dhiren. Plays Well With Others?: Generally, no. He's kind of a tough cat to get close to, and he doesn't tend to travel with others. Still, he's not entirely unreasonable, and he does need companionship from time to time. Louder, more energetic cats are mostly avoided, however. The rain poured down and lightning illuminated the sky in periodic bursts. Thunder rolled overhead and made the earth tremble. It had all began so suddenly, catching many of Ikebukero's inhabitants off guard. One of these unfortunate souls, a drenched Somali tom, took refuge in an open warehouse. As the rain pounded against the building and lighting flashed into the dark room, Dhiren sighed and cursed at the situation.
His ears were flat against his head and water dripped from his soggy tail, a puddle swiftly forming at his paws. Removing his jacket and then his shirt, the cat seethed and wrung them out. More water joined the forming lake. Giving them a vigorous shake, he moved from the puddle and hung the articles on the corner of a cracked mirror that had been left. He gave his body another irritated shake as he moved to stand in front of the object and proceeded to wring out his tail. As he worked, his irritation grew. Dhiren, like most cats, hated to be wet, but he hated the flashing of the lightning even more. It unnerved him and made him edgy; he didn't like these feelings. He crouched over a moment as he removed his slacks and grunted, feeling the familiar tightness closing around his throat.
With the slacks hanging from one paw, the somali brought his other up to feel the collar that was slowly burrowing into his flesh. The human thing brought back memories, good and bad. Amber eyes clouded for a moment as he focused on the more pleasant ones; however, it didn't last long. Fire blazed suddenly inside of him as the final memory lingered from his time spent with humans. Lightning flashed again, and a reflection behind him caught his attention. As he turned to look, he caught his reflection in the mirror; his back lay bare for him, showcasing the searing scars he kept hidden. Dhiren's eyes narrowed in hatred, and he hissed at his reflection. The chemical drugs that had been released into his system some many months ago, had not reacted well with him. A blotchy red scar snaked across his back like the star-burst cracking of glass. One hand fisted in the soaked pants he was holding as the rage built inside of him.
That's right; there was nothing good to remember about those wretched creatures. They were easily swayed, and didn't seem to regard cats with any respect. Gleaming claws slid from the Somali's other paw as he raised it to his throat again and grabbed at the tight, woven thing. What was the point in keeping it on? He didn't need that human any longer. He refused to return to him, or to any human ever again! His muscles strained as he tugged on the already-too-tight collar, and his claws flexed into the fabric, tearing at the threads little by little.
Why had he tolerated this nuisance about his neck for so long? And why did it have to be so damn stormy out!? The cat panted and growled to himself; he dropped to his knees and grabbed at the collar with both hands. It was too tight; it was going to strangle him. He hadn't got away. The humans were going to kill him after all!
He couldn't allow it. Never, not by those damned creatures!
The woven threads of the collar gave off rigid snaps as they were torn. One of Dhiren's claws cracked and snapped off as he scratched at it, his actions becoming more and more frenzied. More than once, he missed his target and ended up scoring his own skin.
Enough! It had to end; he had to be free of this thing! He had to do it now!
With a low, guttural snarl, the Somali looped both sets of fingers into the band around his neck and pulled. His neck straining against the force of his own arms, he squeezed his eyes shut and growled. Finally, the pressure eased in an instant. A roaring snap signified the end of his human captivity, and the collar skittered across the concrete floor of the warehouse.
Crimson droplets dotted the floor beneath him as he panted for a moment, his eyes locked on the tattered piece of braided material. Hanging uncertainly in front of his chest, both of his hands trembled slightly; blood clinging to his claws. Slowly, a relieved grin spread across Dhiren's face, and a horse chuckle sputtered in his throat.
He was free now. As he thought that, he fell backwards, laying next to the still-soaked pants. His eyes stared up at the ceiling as he forgot the storm that continued to rage outside. He no longer had to worry about them. The humans would never be an issue again.

Name: Tsukiyomi Ikuto Meaning: I believe Tsukiyomi = Moon Phase and I found that Ikuto = Many Constellations... but to put them together, I think it would translate to something more like "Many phases of the moon" To kind of symbolize the many sides of his personality. Wears a choker with a slightly larger silver cross on it and slightly loose black pants with belts around the legs. History Sirens blared and red lights coated the white halls in a heated glow. Humans ran to and fro, their long white lab coats flapping frantically behind them as they searched desperately for something. A pair of glimmering blue eyes watched them from above, through the slats of an air vent; the only thing visible in a sea of silken black fur. Ikuto closed his eyes, the color disappeared and he was gone. Making not a sound, the bombay cat padded through the dark, cold, metal corridors expertly. A white, padded case bounced against his back as he moved, and his tail remained low. Coming to a cross-roads, the young tom carefully tested the air both ways before continuing. It wasn't long before the black cat was making his way out onto the roof of the building.
Unfortunately, the humans had anticipated his escape route this time and he found himself facing a paw-ful of sneering faces. "There he is! The mangy stray cat burglar came back, after all." One of them, a shorter, plump man laughed, pointing a ridiculous net at the dark cat. "We'll get him this time for sure!" An awkward woman chimed in, her gaze betraying the tone of confidence in her voice.
Ikuto's ears flattened and he frowned; they were the same goons they always sent after him. No matter, getting away would be all the easier. The cat and the humans engaged in an awkward staredown for a few moments before the humans foolishly lept into action. Evading them was simple enough, ducking out of the way of falling nets, squeezing through legs, scoring arms and legs and hands as he passed. As he lunged for the cat, one of the bumbling men stumbled forward, falling on his face. Thinking quickly, Ikuto bounded for the fallen and lept, bounding from the guy's head to his rump, and over the heads of the others. He glanced back with a smirk before pelting to the edge of the rooftop and diving off. For a moment, his fur and the violin on his back seemed weightless, but that feeling was brief. Soon branches were scraping his face and his claws were scoring the bark of a tree limb to catch himself.
The Bombay made quick work of descending the tree, and before long, his dark pelt was disappearing into the night. Ikuto ran for a long time, knowing those goons from Easter Co. would be swarming the city before too long. finally pausing on a road at the edge of town, the black cat turned his head to look back. A frown painted his lips, and his eyes darkened as he thought about those he was about to leave behind. Then, with a flick of his sleek black tail, the tom turned and continued on his way, leaving his home behind him. He'd return again one day... Personality: Ikuto is confident in what he does, and though repercussions of his actions do cross his mind before-hand, he rarely takes them into consideration. He generally carries an air of disinterest. Even though feline curiosity runs strongly within him, he often would prefer to let people believe that he didn't really care about what was going on around him. He does things on his own quite frequently, and is hesitant to allow others to help. He does have a feisty side to him in that he delights in picking on those younger than him for a rise. His intent isn't malicious, but he finds fun in bringing other cats to a boil. Outlook: It's hard for Ikuto to readily trust others; he prefers to keep them at a safe distance. Even though he walks on his own most often, he doesn't generally see company as a bad thing. Plays Well With Others?: Yea, for the most part. Ikuto's pretty easy going, and because of his confidence, he doesn't get pissed too easily. He does have a tendency to keep others from getting too comfortable with him though, feeling they're safer that way. Likes: Teasing excitable kids, naps, high places, playing violin, chocolate Dislikes: Easter Corp., his 'step-father', being caged up

~ Natsuki's World ~ History From the RP Contest: Moonlight glistened against the milky-white flowers that accented the lush green of a meadow. The night air was warm and soothing, and every thing was at peace, everything except the excited swiping of slate-gray paws. Standing on her own out in the middle of this illuminated garden, a young cat swatted and jabbed at the air, slowly making her way from one place to another as she practiced an array of fighting moves. Her skin glistened slightly with the exercise, and her green eyes gleamed pleasantly, an excited smile on her maw. Her tail whipped around as she ducked and spun out with her leg in a high kick, and placing her paws against the grass, she propelled herself back from her invisible foe, flipping and landing in a crouched position with claws at the ready.
With a light sigh, the girl straightened and clapped her hands together before her chest, offering a shallow bow. Grinning from ear to her, she went through a series of stretches before flopping back on the grass and staring up at the full moon. Her chest rose and fell at a gradually slowing pace and the girl thought about life as it was now. She was completely at peace now, doing what she loved, where she loved to be. However, things hadn't always been that way, she acknowledged.
Natsuki. A name of summer and hope.
It had represented so much of the opposite of how she felt months back, when she had ventured too far from home. Huddled in a freezing, shivering ball of grey, the female had cursed her luck, cursed the limiting, confining frozen snow that fell around her. The soft flakes had covered her tracks faster than she could retrace them, leaving her stranded in a place she couldn't identify. At the time, she also cursed her humans, who in her opinion hadn't done a very thorough job of searching for her. She had convinced herself at the time that, had they actually cared for her, she wouldn't have been left alone out in that frozen wasteland.
In truth, the reason she had been abandoned was completely her fault. Had she not squeezed past the humans, and insisted on adventuring outside despite their protests, she surely would have never gotten herself lost. Humans are known to be stupid at times; so could she really blame them for believing her dead? Like a little snow could really snuff out her life...
That's right; this Nastuki was much stronger than a little weather; she was a born fighter, after all. And before long, she had realized the true importance of the name she had been bestowed. For sure enough, the seemingly endless oppression of winter would melt away. The frozen hope still trapped in her heart would thaw. And with the coming spring, the Korat would realize that, like the blossoming flowers, she was to bloom as well. Freedom was the true epitome of summer, and freedom was what the young cat had won for herself. No human would be able to bar her path and tell her where to go.
Natsuki flipped her ears back against the grass and let her eyes slide closed, her breathing back to normal and her heart thumping in a strong, steady rhythm. That's right. She had won the freedom to roam wherever she chose. She had earned herself the freedom to follow her own path in life. And she had realized that she carried within herself, the freedom to hope. Humans were never going to come looking for her again, but that was okay. Being without the two-legged beings was not the end of the world, after all.
For Natsuki was a cat of summer and of hope.
Pushing herself into a seated position, the young Korat gazed off over the hillside, at the small town she once called home. Perhaps it was time for a change of scenery. In order to completely sever herself from such a frustrating past, she would turn to face her future. A new town, filled with hopeful opportunities; Natsuki would lead her own life in freedom from here on out.
New History: Since making that decision that night, Natsuki left her hometown and never looked back. It wasn't long before her wanderings brought her to Ikebukuro, where she soon ran into many new faces. The first cat she met became a instant friend, and one she sticks close by whenever possible. Demi was her name, and she was a little older than Natsuki, about 5 years or so, but she was just as free spirited and energetic and the Korat took an instant liking to her. Demi, being of the protective type, took the wandering cat under her wing with a smile. Personality: Natsuki is easily excitable and has boundless energy. She's usually very cheerful and seems to have no concept of boundaries. She isn't at all shy and will walk up to anyone that interests her; there's nothing wrong with saying hello, right? She's also very innocent of the world outside of the few things she's dealt with, and can come off as naive. Outlook: Bright and positive. Everyone's a possible new friend, and nothing can keep her down for long. She's impartial to humans, but when the subject of her former ones are brought up, it strikes a sour note. Plays Well With Others?: Most definitely. Unless they don't play well back, she'll get along with most anyone. Likes: Colors, rain, playing, singing, fighting, learning, meeting new cats, her tail, mice, ice cream Dislikes: Her humans, fire, cold weather, snow, winter, confinement, car alarms, burnt food Family: N/A Mate: None
