It was such a strange sight, to have to tilt his head up to spy something not of pure wood, or leaf, or stem, or budding flower. No-Name sat on a hill near the outskirts of East Ikebokuro within the edge of a small meadow, half-in and half-out of the bushels he had been sitting within for maybe an hour, meditating, contemplating as he always did. Relaxation was essential for a loner, he thought. When the Bobtail looked out over the hill, he could see miles of many different colors, or bright and flashing lights, or smell delicious foods and other assortments of creatures he would not have thought creatable to begin with. For instance, what were those that towered above even the largest cat, of peaches and tans and browns in hair-less fur, with different garbs and different demeanors, all speaking in unintelligible language? They seemed to rule this area of non-forest.
No-Name was wary, yet at the same curious. Should he investigate? But it could end in disaster if these two-leg walkers were not of kind temperament. These were strange and unusual animals to him, and sometimes it might not be best to prod his nose where it should not belong. Still, No-Name's fur twitched every once in a while, eager to move - away or to this strange land of even stranger sights, smells, and sounds? "Mekxoh . . ." No-Name mumbled in the language he was born into, pawing lightly at the cord of rope about his thick neck. What would Moon Wolf do? Surely she would investigate of course, ever fearless . . .

Kiba hissed, arching his back as he scrambled across the dreaded sidewalk, the concrete rough on pampered-pawpads and immaculately trimmed nails. The tuxedo cat, an Exotic, tried to move out of the way of the walking Two-Leg feet clad in boots and heels and sneakers and flipflops. Flipflops! This time of year? Kiba let a low grumble rumble up his throat as he slipped from the city into the softness of grass. He gave a soft mewling sound, barely audible as he walked, headed into the bushes. The leaves clung to his black fur, pulling at him, pleading with him and he bit back another hiss of fear. He freed himself of the entanglement, then looked up. With large, olivine green eyes, he took in the sight of a tabby with no tail. No tail? Blasphemous! Ears flattened against his head. Did he move forwards, or turn tail and run? Where was his Master when he needed him... Slowly, he inched forwards. So far, the bobtail hadn't noticed him. He might be able to get away with slipping by. Might was the key word. And then he heard the strange word utter from the cat's mouth. "Mekxoh?" he parroted, looking stricken. Was that breath of an attack? His tail twitched.

Dhiren was beginning to dislike his place in the town of Ikebukuro. His dislike of humans was only magnified by his current state with his woman, the only cat who would tolerate him, it seemed. So, he was spending more and more time on his own, away from the city. The somali tom had gotten used to roaming the forests on the edge of town, thus far unaware of the Anbu who inhabited them, and this sparse meadow, which he had just found today.
It reminded him of the knoll he used to nap on near the University, high and with a good view of the nearby town. The air was a little thinner out here and there weren't any of those irritating humans stomping around. Dhiren was content for the moment, laying out on his back with hands folded behind his head and tail curling upwards every now and again. He was vaguely aware that other cats were wandering around nearby, but wasn't worried about them yet, from what he could detect, neither seemed threatening at all. His ear gave a small twitch, and he murred to himself quietly; one of them had a very strange meow, as if in a foreign accent. Odd.

Ever the single-minded tom, it took No-Name a few moments to register someone else's presence there in the meadow, and with a few mellow blinks as if awakening from a dream, he turned his head towards the bi-hued stranger near him. He might not have even noticed the plump-looking cat had he not spoken, and it was that single word that would start a great misunderstanding, poor things. No-Name regarded the leaf-entangled one with wide eyes.
For one, he would have never suspected someone to appear intelligible. As of yet, no-one he had observed or seen could have spoken back in his language, and thus this alone was a surprise; mind you, No-Name had not a clue that the other had merely parroted back the word in confusion, not repeated with genuine curiosity as he thought at the moment. Within seconds the Bobtail's heart became filled with hope. "Yei j'foub ak kee?" he asked, ears perked. "Yei b'den x'ko Seihuwo? Seihuwo. Thout Rouh? Meed Necv?" Someone? Anyone? He felt a second pair of eyes on him, for all of his tribesman's chidlren were trained to some extent to be aware of their surroundings constantly (though No-Name had a problem of keeping his mind in the present sometimes), but for the moment he ignored them.

Such a strange area, this was. She must have wandered very far from home...well, her previous home. Not that it bothered her all that much nowadays, she'd been a stray long enough that she hadn't needed to worry about getting lost or anything...but now, well. Different situation. She was almost disappointed in herself for wandering to far from her make-shift home.
But, Taylor could smell other cats around. Maybe they could help her? Smiling to herself, the angora quickly made her way towards the three toms that she smelled...only to pause at a strange language that stopped her in her tracks.
How odd, but it seemed to flow so nicely. Not quite soothing to her ears, but definitely different.
Fearlessly, she padded up behind Dhiren and peeked over him to the strange cat she'd never seen before. Well, actually, she'd never seen any of these cats before...but she was pretty friendly, and didn't have any reason to fear them yet. Blinking at the bobtail, who was still spouting that...weird language, her ears perked, the earrings jingling to announce her presence if they hadn't noticed her just yet. Maybe she should learn to not poke her nose into things that she didn't understand, especially with three males around.

Ohgosh. The words that spilled from the bobtail's mouth were foreign and, therefore, frightening to the young tuxedo cat. He flattened his ears, flicked his tail, and stared. He couldn't help it. What odd words. What did they mean? "I-I'm sorry, I don't quite understand," he said softly, enunciating each word so that the foreign cat might understand easier.
What was worse (for him) was that two new cats sauntered up, the orange-pelted one looking a little shy but the redhead definitely not so. She even walked with confidence and ease. He frowned; why couldn't he be more like her? He turned to them, still tense, ready to run if they acted offensively. He was skittish; it wasn't in his nature, but he'd always been odd. "Hello," he murmured with a small wave of his hand. "I'm Kiba. Do you...understand this guy?"

It was impossible. Dhiren couldn't sleep peacefully out here; that strange accent picked up pitch and just kept on going, and curiosity was getting the better of him. Were those even words? Picking himself up from the grass, the Somali tom patted the clinging blades from his pants before glancing around to locate the source of that irritating, yet intriguing chatter. Amber eyes landed on a stocky bobtail not unlike that Demi brat, he noted to himself, and an unfamiliar black and white tom. With ears lifted forward to catch the words drifting from the bobtail's mouth, the Somali moved closer to listen.
That confirmed it. This cat definitely had a foreign accent, and his words sounded like nothing but jumbled gibberish to the tom. His face taking on a perplexed expression, he let his ears fall slightly to the sides. Dhiren's bushy tail flicked back and forth as he attempted to listen to, and discern words from this stranger, but to no avail. The bobtail seemed slightly frenzied, but without understanding, how was he to help at all? Just as the Somali was about to walk away from the whole mess, however, a sudden presence from behind stopped him in his tracks. He turned to gaze into the face of a red-headed female who came out of nowhere and appeared to be hiding behind him slightly, and then his ears caught the voice of the black and white cat, who suddenly seemed to be addressing them. Great. Now he was stuck here...
Giving his tail another flick, the orange-furred cat set his eyes on the timid bicolored male and gave his own shoulders a shrug. "You got me. I don't even think this guy's speaking actual words..." He responded in a low, grumbling growl. Dhiren stared at the bobtail for a few moments more, and for a fleeting second, he thought jokingly that perhaps Demi could make sense of him. The girl would probably just frustrate the poor tail-less in the end. Still believing the bobtail to be a lost cause, the Somali tom once again glanced back at the woman, his fur prickling a bit with her presence. Although she wasn't here, he was sure Alice would take the wrong impression simply from seeing them standing together. "I'm Dhiren, by the way... If you don't mind, woman, could you come from behind me. It's a little unnerving..." His face warmed slightly, but only because he was nervously thinking of a certain female Somali.

Not even slow annunciation could reach across to the cat - it was like trying to communicate with a human. No-Name's flare of hope instantly died the second he saw that the timid cat assumed anxious body language and switched to that foreign tongue with the other tom (no, wait . . . two others?). Had he been mistaken, or was the cat for some reason embarassed to speak the native language in front of others? No, now that No-Name thought about it, his tribe had been mainly composed of cats with short tails - why were these longer or thicker? Wouldn't that get in the way? So strange . . .
Even if he couldn't understand, No-Name knew they were talking about him, and their tones weren't reassuring: the one with green eyes did not seem comfortable at all surrounded by strangers, least of all one who he couldn't understand; the ginger tom seemed a bit miffed about something, almost itchy No-Name could call it; and the newest addition was not male and with the thickest coat he had ever seen, neither of which he was most surprised by - rather, it was her bi-hued eyes that caught him, because Mother, Moon Wolf, Meed Necv, also had two-tone eyes and had given them to him. Not of the same colors, but . . . Faint timbres of memory resounded at the back of his mind.
"N'xo uho yeo?" No-Name asked them all, sweeping his gaze to encompass all three. "N'xo uho yeo?" Not that asking would help of course, but what else could he do? He didn't know a lick of this new tongue they all shared.

The cat in front of them was so strange--but it was kind of rude to be staring and talking to him when the poor cat was obviously unable to understand them, and therefore unable to defend himself.
Frowning when the two toms continued to talk, she stepped out from behind Dhiren and crossed her arms behind her back, a small smile crossing her lips, "Taylor," she introduced herself, then turned her attention back to the strange bobtail in front of them.
Now that he had finished spouting off some random words, he seemed...well, disappointed that they didn't understand him. She could see it in his eyes, and that made her ears fold back against her head. Slowly, the angora approached the male, moving to crouch down with her knees pressed together, and her chin settled atop them. "Taylor," it was obvious that the male didn't understand their language, or else he wouldn't have continued to ramble in that strange tongue. She offered her hand out to him with a small smile, hoping he understood what she was saying to him. As to why she was approaching a stranger like this, well..she didn't know. She felt like she needed to, at least, make him feel comfortable here instead of confused and lost.
She'd felt that a few times...it wasn't a nice feeling.

Well, at least she was no longer behind him... Dhiren watched the woman stoop down to the Bobcat's level and repeat her name. He perked his ears up curious to see if she could make sense of him. With a flick of his fluffy tail, the Somali tom cast an uncertain glance at Kiba before couching down next to Taylor. Amber eyes peered into the dual-colored eyes of the tail-less cat, contemplating him. "Dhiren." He growled softly, repeating his name slowly to the foreign tomcat and gesturing to his chest. He looked over to Taylor and murmured quietly, "...Think there's any way of making sense of him?" He didn't have anything better to do, and was getting tired of moving place to place just to avoid others, so the unsociable Somali decided to stay put and see what happened with this cat.

Kiba let out a nervous giggle, watching Dhiren get closer to the girl called Taylor and speak in soft tones with her and then regard the bobtail carefully. He wiggled closer, thick tail flicking back and forth as he smiled a small smile at the strange-speaking cat with a length of rope around his neck- "I'm Kiba." He spoke slowly, just like Dhiren and Taylor had, reaching out his nose to bump against the stranger's. "Do you have a Master?" He reached up to tug on his own tight black collar, then reached for the bobtail's makeshift rope one. "Col-lar."

They were changing tones now, softer, slower, and this would have been remarkably helpful in normal circumstances. But No-Name was a terribly reserved cat despite his size, and the fact that all three were coming far too close made him very uncomfortable - what did they want with him to have suddenly become more "approachable"? Why was the green-eyed one reaching for his neck? A threat! The others spoke softly to keep his defenses down before being subdued! And thus on instinct he reverted to the tactic of appearing more formidable. The Bobtail's fur puffed out as he stepped back and raised his head, arching his back and lowering what stubble of tail he did have. "Voulo mo ucedo," he said in a low growl, again glancing between all three. "N'xuk te yei nudk nakx mo? Voulo." If one of them touched him, he would issue a second out of three warnings by batting the hand or paw away. He did not like the look of what lay coiled around the female's arm, nor the sound of the amber-eyed one's voice - the sound of an awaiting battle. "Voulo mo. Voulo mo ucedo."

Mau loved the fields, after the disaster with humans and fire, she stuck to the wild and was taking quite a likeing to it. She was on a hunt today, crouched low, sneeking along the gound, carefully listening for what might be her next meal. She moved quickly, soft paw pads not making a sound, she was becomeing an expert at this, silence was the key to catching a good mouse or vole. Her ears twitched as she caught the sound of other cats voices. Drat! those idiots probably scared all the prey in the area. She sighed her tummy growling and padded towards the cats who were doing a lot of talking. She kept her distance, you never know with other felines, how they felt with a new cat in the territory. She blinked slowly, taking in what was going on not speaking. She watched the others trying to comunicate with the cat, she blinked slowly and layed down tucking her paws underneith herself. She had dealings with another cat that could not understand others and patience was the key, a sad look came over her for a moment as she remembered Spirit. She shook her head to clear her thoughts.

Dhiren flicked his ears back, mirroring the bobtail's defensiveness, and rocked back to sit on his rump, tail twitching behind him. "Well... that doesn't appear to have worked much," He murmured lowly, watching the strange cat fluff up and growl. Leaning back, he propped himself up with his arms behind him and glanced to the other two. Was it a good idea to push this guy any further? The language barrier was obvious, but this tail-less tom seemed to be less inclined to social interaction than Dhiren himself. So, for now, the Somali male sat back and watched. How would they make this cat understand there was no threat to be had? Demi slunk along quietly, her belly-fur brushing the lush grass. She had been following the scents of different cats she had known all day and had yet to find anyone, but as she tracked a certain orange tom, she came upon a new face. Sitting on her own, apparently oblivious to anything except what she was focusing on, was a pretty, dappled silver cat. Pretty tempting, too. With her ears pulled back and a mischievous grin on her face, Demi inched slowly closer, her stub-like tail wiggling excitedly. Just a little further.... Alright, got it. The girl paused a moment, centering herself and gathering her feet beneath her, then she sprung into action. Paws barely touching the ground, the little bobtail yowled loudly, pouncing at the resting Mau.

The Exotic's eyes grew wide as green saucers, scrambling back with a squeak of fear as the bobtail puffed up in alarm. "S-Sorry!" he whispered, even though he knew the other couldn't understand him. "So sorry..." He took a breath, letting it out in a whine as he looked around. Surely someone understood his language...right? With his ears flat against his head, his gaze rested upon a little silver cat being quietly stalked by another bobtail. He perked. Could this one perhaps speak the same language? With a flick of his tail, he approached them slowly, keeping his body low and loose, nervously glancing between the Mau and the bobtail female. "E-Excuse me..."
