❀ Meaning: Eiji (two protectors) Benjirou (son of two speeches)
❀ Reasoning: Two protectors to go with his personality and the cat. Son of two speeches because his mother is Egyptian while his father is Japanese, thus 2 languages two speeches. Probably not the "speech" I'm thinking of but alas. I do not care. 8D I could also I make it two teachings since the two are technically different from one another. C:

❀ Hotheaded/Short-tempered
If you say the correct words or say something in the correct way you’ll set him off. He’ll snap and get physical very quickly, sometimes without warning. His first personality change can be as sudden as one minute he's smiling and the next he turned around and punched you in the face. His short-temper doesn’t always apply to himself. If another lunarian is being taken advantage off he’ll replace them with himself and be the jury, the judge and the prosecution. He doesn’t cool off quickly either and will take anything else after the imminent action personally and will be offended for the rest of the encounter. Approach with caution.
❀ Forgetful
Despite his aggressive personality he can be quite forgetful at times. This doesn’t happen as often as one might thing but it’s known to happen. You tell him something important and later it will be forgotten. You give him something to do and it won’t get done or it will be done extremely late. He could even be in the middle of doing something and appear in a completely different part of the city. It’s also not uncommon for him to just get ready to go to bed and then realize he had something important he had to do and bring somewhere, therefore staying up all night completing it and running to drop it off.
❀ Nonono! Let me do that! I insist!
Either Eiji likes to have the sense of being useful or he just dislikes seeing people (or himself) helpless. Even if it’s as small as moving a heavy box from one place to the next he would rather take the time out to help then let someone struggle, whether they were honestly struggling or not. For most of his life he was used to doing all of the physical labor so it’s only natural for him to do so for others, who might struggle. This doesn’t only apply to house chores or tasks - battles as well; he’ll join in if someone tells him they need his help or to even the tables.
❀ The Empty Shotglass: it’s meaning is literal
Eiji is an alcoholic to say the least. He loves to drink and he knows he can go for some time before passing out. One of his favorite things to do is compete in drinking competitions. In everyone's best interests he’s a happy drunk so if there’s ever a time he loses he doesn’t go berserk and start busting up the joint. He’ll just flop back and start laughing.
❀ Yes, that dress makes you look fat.
Eiji doesn’t sugar coat anything and comes off rather blunt most of the time. He sees no reason to play mind games with anyone either. He’ll say what’s on his mind when he thinks it and pays no mind to whatever consequence might follow.
❀ Taiko Drummer
Eiji is a taiko drummer so it only makes sense that one of his hobbies is drumming. He’s been taiko drumming for a couple of years and took a quick liking to it. His own physical strength greatly aids him in his success, being able to get the powerful, heavy, beats the drums are known for. It’s probably one of the only things he takes great pride in.
❀ Party like a rock, party like a rock star
When not pounding taiko drums or getting into fights with others Eiji is a really entertaining, playful, cocky lunarian. He’ll act like a celebrity and would think himself as the life of the party. His playful and sarcastic attitude makes him pretty easy to talk to. He does think highly of himself but he won’t discourage anyone else in the process. He doesn’t think you’re not amazing he simply thinks he just more amazing then you.
❀ ”The guns”
Working out is something Eiji regularly does during his day. It's not an optional activity it's something he must do. His routinely workouts keep him in shape and keeps his stamina high. He does this for two main reasons; one - to be in tip top physical shape, since taiko drumming takes a lot out of someone who’s always going at their maximum and two - to keep his stamina high to prevent his blackouts from becoming more frequent. Plus he has a big brother complex about being stronger then others so he can help them and take the pain for them.
❀ Are you asking for a challeeeeeenge?!
Could be considered a hobby but will be considered more of a weakness/flaw then anything else. Eiji can’t turn down a challenge. You use enticing words like “bet” or “can’t do” and his attention will be all yours waiting for the moment to prove you dead wrong. It doesn’t have to be a big, serious challenge either. It can be a simple, “I bet you can finish this puzzle faster then I can” and he'll already has the puzzle started. Where it’d get dangerous is if it’s physical challenges. That’s where it can start becoming a serious flaw. That and challenges that could involve others safety. Some challenges can lead to his second weakness: Blackouts.
❀ Blackouts
Not so much as a weakness but a condition. Happening during more physically fatiguing battles or long-winded verbal quarrels Eiji suffers from complete blackouts. Their duration varies but the shortest he ever recorded lasted 10 minutes while the longest over an hour. During his blackouts he will stop dead in his tracks (sometimes even mid-word or movement) and collapse. He won’t be able to remember a single thing that happened before the blackout. After years he was able to pin-point the cause to adrenaline and learned to catch some of the inner symptoms he feels before the blackout happens. Unfortunately his nature makes it difficult for him to stop himself and relax, thus rarely does he ever stop the blackout from happening.
❀ Blindness
He may not look it but Eiji is blind in this left eye, so his entire left half of his body can be considered a weakness. Because of this his cat generally hangs out on his left shoulder or walks to his left, acting as his vision. At first he kept getting started because Sumu was always in his face but once he realized what the his intentions were they worked quite nicely together. If Sumu is on Eiji’s shoulder during any encounters with other lunarians he will get a bit defensive if someone grows close to Eiji’s left side. When Sumu is not around his entire left side is exposed to attacks or contact of any kind.
❀ Turning
Because Eiji is blind in this left eye he does a few things to remedy the fact. If he turns around he will always turn to the right so he can see what’s behind him first. When he sleeps at night he will always sleep on his left side so his right eye is exposed. He isn’t proud of his blindness so he tries to hide that fact. Most people don’t even know he’s blind, he tries his hardest to hide it, though they might pick up on his "habits" of favoring his right side.
❀ Worst liar ever when dealing with his forgetfulness
In the case someone is with Eiji and he has a forgetful moment, which happens a lot, if questioned he will quickly blurt out a response, hoping the other does not notice that he clearly has no idea what's going on. Sometimes he "guesses" correctly while other times it can be as noticeable as "Y-yeah! I was going for a swim, man!" while he's in the middle of the market place with food bags in his arms. Because he is aware later on that he does this it can pose a problem because in some encounters he knows what he was doing previously but can be easily convinced otherwise, causing him to doubt himself and to do something he never intended on doing.
Part two of this is that he will try to bs his way out of any situation he doesn't fully understand, but usually fails at it, as if it was of grand importance. It can be about the stupidest things as well. Such as why he forgot to put a certain sauce on a dish he was making for dinner that night.

Sitting atop the thrown with his brother Junichi Fumio is another one of the more respected individuals. Keeping to his studies he excelled in his learnings at a rapid pace. Having a knack for picking up the material quickly even though he’s the youngest he’s the most intelligent of the group. Fumio is more of a loner and doesn’t spend much time around Eiji. Their relationship is mutual.
-❀- Second Youngest Brother : : Tsutomu “worker”
Following in his brother's, Eiji, foot steps he’s a bit of a trouble maker. Despite getting into trouble Tsutomu knows when he had to stop the foolishness and get the job at hand completed. These two are usually caught bickering at one another over the most minor, trivial things. Tsutomu has been known to surprise Eiji in his sleep, which end up in a sparring match with Eiji being the victor. Tsutomu has yet to win one round.
-❀- Third Youngest Brother : : Junichi “obedient one”
Eiji, by far, gets along with Junichi better then any other family member. Junichi is a rather secluded individual but it extremely patient and polite when dealing with others. He walks high on his feet and is the most respected brother of the four. If you can’t seem to find him around their home just keep an ear out and you can follow a trail of music. Junichi is the most musically inclined of the lot with the most delicate hand. His thoughts on Eiji’s taiko drumming is that “he spends his valuable time banging on drums all day.”
-❀- Father : : Masanori “model of justice”
Out of the two Eiji prefers his father more. Masanori is strict but caring. Tough love if you will. He was the one who first introduced Eiji to the taiko drums and supports him in whatever decision he makes. Masanori is also the one who used to drag Eiji home from getting into a neighborly quarrel. Most others get along well with Masanori. He's quite a character in his own way.
-❀- Mother : : Het-Heru “House of Horus”
Even though Eiji tends to avoid his mother he still cares about her deeply. As a personal reminder of his love he tattooed the eye of Horus under his own eye based off of his mothers name. She’s a well rounded individual but can be known to hold secret grudges. Most of her secret anger is taken out on the oldest two sons, Eiji and Junichi, but since she can’t bring herself to seriously harm the gentle and delicate Junichi most of his punishment is brought upon Eiji. She was the one who implanted in his head that he had to be the fall upon brother and take the punishment for the family: the scapegoat pretty much.
-❀- Cat : : Sumu
His beloved and hated companion. A family cat that clung to Eiji’s side rather quickly upon coming to live with them. Eiji’s not too sure about having a cat shadow but he is getting more used to Sumu always being there. They formed a very special bond after a while, leaving Eiji wondering what he’d do without the little fur ball.
 Eiji has a feline companion, an Egyptian Mau, named Sumu. The cat was once a a family pet which Eiji never approved of but currently is considered "his" cat. He found the male cat annoying and didn’t want anything to do with it but due to the Egyptian Mau’s nature it grew very protective and loyal to all member of the family - thus shadowing Eiji most of the time, sensing he needed the most protection. He learned to hate the cat because everywhere he went and turned Sumu was there, staring at him, and he never knew what the hell it wanted; so he started to randomly attack it to shoo it away. Not in an “I’m going to kill you” but a “get the hell out of here!” kind of way.
One night on his way home, for a reason he still doesn’t know or remember, Eiji was almost attacked. He was heading out of the bar when someone grabbed a bottle and got ready to smash him over the head with it. Eiji only turned around due to the screams he heard from behind him to find the assailant being mauled by a cat; HIS cat. Sumu jumped from the now bleeding Lunarian to Eiji and started purring. A bit surprised by Sumu and his actions Eiji looked back to the assailant, who wiped off some blood and started charging towards them. “Damn cat! Way to make it worse!” Eiji shouted as he ran out of the bar, cat in arms. Even though Sumu only ended up making the situation worse Eiji was saved from an imminent attack. Given it wasn’t a life threaten situation but it could have turned deadly. Drunken bar fights can result badly.
Eiji still stayed cold towards Sumu for some time after the bar incident, but Sumu kept on following and staring. A new pattern was soon recognized. Every time Eiji got into a quarrel (be it verbal or physical, for himself or protecting another) the cat appeared and aided him. Eventually Eiji warmed up to his new fighting companion and soon realized, with the help of one of his younger brothers, why the cat was so attached to him. The cat was a protector of the things he cared about. Since birth Eiji’s name’s meaning was only half filled. It was lacking it’s missing half. Sumu must have known and was there too fill the void and complete Eiji’s being. Eiji’s name means two protectors - Eiji himself and now the cat. Sumu’s name means “to be completed.”

Perhaps Eiji was missing a part of him inside and being a trouble maker helped fill the void? His father chose the name Eiji and never once told his son why he was named that. The name means "two protectors." Eiji was just a single Lunarian. Years went by with him never finding the answer to the question. He eventually tossed it under the rug when a new family member was brought to light; an Egyptian Mau named Sumu. Sumu instantly bonded with everyone and grew very protective of his new family, like most Egyptian Maus do. Eiji didn’t approve of the new furry family member so stayed very cold and distant with him, shooing him away when ever they came in contact. Only after being saved by Sumu did Eiji even consider thinking the cat was ok. It took some time, persistence and the sense of giving up when Eiji finally accept and bonded with Sumu.
The Benjirou family also had a special knack for things. In the case of entertainment everyone had a natural talent for music and musical instruments. While they all were taught to play the same thing they eventually parted and found their own ideal instrument. Fumio and Junichi chose the Shamisen, which they excelled in rather fast, Masanori chose the Biwa, Het-Heru played the Hocchiku and Tsutomu and Eiji took up taiko drumming. Masanori introduced his sons to the taiko drums based on their physical nature to love to pound things, be it that they got into fights a lot. Using their strength and redirecting it helped a lot in their self control. Tsutomu realized he did not have the strength nor the stamina to keep up with the heavy pounding needed for the perfect taiko drum pound for the larger drums so he leveled down to the shime-daiko. Eiji and Tsutomu practice and put on performances quite a lot together for family and friends. Their goal was to find more drummers and put on large scale performances. Eiji learned how to play every drum that would originally be in a traditional taiko performance should a new player arise and only excelled in only one type of drum.
It’s not hard to tell that Eiji’s mother and father are from two completely different areas. His mother, Het-Heru, came from a more desert part of the world while his father from Lunaria. Their two nationalities are enough to set them apart in more ways then one.
Ever since Het-Heru was a young girl there were two things she loved; learning new cultures and running the checkpoint that divided the desert from it’s boarding large cities and forest areas. Those that ran the Golden Scarab checkpoint grew close and became like family. The checkpoint was relatively large as it started to turn into a hot spot after time went by. People always made sure to go from one side of the continent to the other by passing this particular checkpoint. They had inns, a few small market places where you can buy, sell and trade your trade, as well a couple to die for eateries. Het-Heru always made a habit of being out in the roadway, greeting travelers as the entered. Once she started hearing the stories some of them carried she started getting nosy, asking new travelers if they had a tale to tell. The things she learned about, different cultures, amazed her. She could never have guessed what the world was like outside of the Golden Scarab. She made a promise that she had to go see the wonders for herself.
With travelers from all over comes fliers and full wall posters of advertisements for hottest or largest events that will happen. The posters were always vibrant and had a special aura of wonder about them. She had a bad habit of collecting them when it was time to take them down. Years went by and the times have changed. She never did leave the checkpoint, though she always kept the posters and brochures people brought. One morning a caravan stopped at the checkpoint to ready up on supplies for their long journey. Het-Heru overheard the troupe leaders conversation with some riders and caught the name of their destination; Lunaria. She remembered the stories she was told, back when she met a Lunarian who happened to have passed the checkpoint. Though of course it was a lot more peaceful back then then it is now. She didn’t care. She knew this caravan might have been her only chance of going to see new places herself. Whether they accepted her or not was a different story; she had to at least try. She asked the troupe leaders and told them her story and they agreed to bring her along. They were hitting other areas before Lunaria but she didn’t mind. She finally got the boost she needed into going to see the cultures she heard so much about.
Het-Heru finally came to the Imperial City with the caravan she has now been with for many years. Their goal was to travel the world to explore new things and cultures. They couldn’t have picked a better time to stop then when they did; during one of the festivals the Imperial City held that no where else could match. During the festival she ran into Masanori, a Lunarian who was dressed for the occasion in his traditional garments.
Het-Heru questioned his unique clothing, as being foreign has never seen them before. He explained that he was part of the festival and that he was giving a performance later and had to be dressed the part. Masanori was part of a musical play that they were going to put on for everyone. She stayed for the performance, and the following days after her arrival, learned a lot about their culture. Time went by and she found herself getting more involved with their customs, traditions and eventually Masanori himself. Her caravan told her that they wanted to hit the place just north of Lunaria and that if she wanted to stay here until they were done that was fine; they would come back for her. She agreed and chose to stay. She said she will make her final decision by the time the caravan returned as to whether or hot Lunaria would be her new home. A few months went by and her knowledge and love for Lunaria grew. It was more lively then the Golden Scarab, she couldn't believe it. New faces were always coming in, the city was rather large after all. When the caravan returned and with complete approval from all parties she decided she was going to stay with Masanori.

Tenryujin
It is said that for every Lunarian born, there is a star in the sky tied to
their soul, characterized by a spirit animal that represents them. Upon
achieving a level of mastery in their chosen vocation, the Lunarian is
able to absorb the spiritual energy of the star and regain some of their
ancestral power. Their bodies change immediately when this happens;
fingers become dragon-like claws, their scales cover more of their
bodies. Spikes and even horns can form, as well as a tail. As a Tenryujin,
their powers expand considerably.
