This is a private role play between ZhongXian [Kanove] and Eiji [Mobster Goose].

Setting:

A bustling and busy Side-Street Restaurant.
ZhongXian ends up meeting someone who is not good for him, Eiji.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 03, 2010 11:34 am

The sound of music, plucked from a band of guest instrumentalists, filled the guests ears. Their mouths moved with little concern to when the music stopped and began again. Almost every guest was busy in conversation. Voices would get louder, and softer, as the music deemed it appropriate to make itself heard. Few Lunarians praised the musicians for their talent, and even fewer actually cared.

An uneasy Lunarian shuffled in the corner, his guest just having left him. It had been a short meeting between the two. Short enough that ZhongXian had yet to receive his appetizer. All he had been graced with from the urgent request was a sealed envelope containing some money and a letter from a foreign relative whom he had heard nothing of.

Stuffing the letter back into the envelope he sighed and awaited the delivery of his appetizer. Zhong managed to appraise much of the restaurant and it's guests with a single glance. There wasn't much to be mentally noted by the privacy offered by the dim lighting. Some couples were feuding, and others had made themselves at home as they romanced and fawned over one another.

Smirking to himself the Lunarian stared at the empty seat across from him and took a large drink of the water he had ordered. He was possibly the only on in the restaurant without a guest. Those who were alone were making their way out of the door.

As he waited the Lunarian listened on, keen on the musicians that were playing. He enjoyed the sound of music and the fact that it didn't make him feel alone.

A waitress approached him with a foreboding look and pardoned herself, "Um, excuse me, Mr. Guo, I have a Mr. Benjirou requesting a table and you happen to be the only one in the restaurant with an open chair-"

Zhong looked up from the table cloth he had been staring at while listening to the music and laughed nervously, waving the other to bring the Mr. Benjirou to sit with him, "Of course, I do not mind."

"Um, yes sir," the waitress replied, nervously slipping await to guide the other back.

Having a bad habit of forgetting to eat meals causes Eiji to arrive during the busiest rush hour time of any given meal; Breakfast, lunch, dinner; it doesn't matter. He didn't quite know what he was in the mood for but he remembered one of his brothers going on about this one particular restaurant, he figured now was a better time then any to check it out.

As he waiting for a table he understood completely why his brother enjoyed this place so much. The musicians that played here definitely proved that they have talent. Coming from a family where everyone has their own special instrument he's heard a lot and knows what's talent and what's faking. Despite the music and the voices of the tables, for what Eiji sounded like, battling for the right to be heard the atmosphere itself wasn't that bad either. The only bad thing was that it was busy. Jam packed full if you even want to take it that far. He realized coming to a place like this during it's peak time was not the best idea he ever had.

Only moment away of telling the hostess that he'll come another day the waitress came back, "Mr. Benjirou, I have a Mr. Guo who does not mind sharing his table with you. If you did not mind sitting with someone else." The waitress was cute, though you can tell by her appearance that she didn't quite enjoy the amount of people that came through this place day after day. Eiji felt he became a bother but she did come back with news rather quickly and he didn't really mind if he sat with someone. A man has gotta eat after all."Na, I'm ok with it." Eiji answered back. "Oh, good. Then if you will follow me I can take you to your seat."

The both weaved between other waitresses taking orders, lunarians coming and going from seat to seat and others taking in and our plays and trays of food. it did smell rather enticing once you got into the body of the restaurant.

The two came up to Mr. Guo's table. "Here we are." The waitress said as she motioned to his seat. She pardoned herself again and thanked Mr. Guo for letting Eiji sit at his table. Eiji's first impression on his seating partner wasn't exactly the greatest. He thought he looked a bit.. depressing or... closed off from the world, for lack of the word he was looking for. Eiji knows when thank yous are in order and never fails to say them. "Mr... Guo.. was it? I believe that's what the waitress said your name was... anyway... Thanks for letting me accompany you."

As Eiji took his seat his cat crawled out from wherever he was conveniently hiding and pounced onto the table in front of them. "Ah!" Eiji suddenly blurted out as he scooped up his cat and quickly placed him in his lap. The color of his hakama and the color of his cat were ideally the same color so he could easily blend in. "Damn cat."

Zhong had never been prone or susceptible to laughter, not in the most ordinary of cases. Proving to himself that he could lighten up he did smile when the cat landed square on the table. He smirked and let his eyes raise level with the other gentleman. He looked like a friendly guy, one not nearly as suspicious as Zhong's last guest.

"A Mr. Benjirou was it?"he asked, nodding his head in the other's direction. He looked friendly enough; like an individual you would see having a good time under any circumstance. With a smile and a nod he introduced himself as Guo ZhongXian, or Zhong for short. He pardoned himself for already having ordered dinner and invited the other do to so if he hoped to get a meal anytime soon.

The Legion boy would be the first to admit that he was not one for restaurants, but he did understand how long it took to get food and drink out to one. After all, he practically ran his own herbal tea shop. Sipping at the tall glass of water he ordered himself a glass of warm milk to accompany his food from a passing waitress.

It was delivered quickly, but again his food was denied."I hope you do not mind sitting with me. I am not the liveliest of fellows." Zhong noted with a sigh. His figure draped a little as the song changed into one without much beat, and into a more melodic and quieting noise.

At the time several stopped to listen to the music, but not enough to break the barrier of sound emitting from the crowd. "Was that your cat earlier?" he asked, attempting to spark conversation between the two of them.

So Guo ZhongXian was the name of this lunarian. He repeated the name in his head after Zhong originally spoke it but decided that it'd be best if he'd stick with just Zhong. Chances are he'd forget or completely butcher the entire name, not that Eiji was one for formalities all the time anyway. Though he couldn't help but let out a laugh when he was addressed as "Mr. Benjirou." "You can just call me Eiji. Calling me Mr. Benjirou is way to formal when in my presence." As one could tell just by looking at him Eiji was far from being considered formal.

Eiji took the invite and caught the waitress before she left. Believe it or not he actually knew what he was going to have; his brother recommended a meal so Eiji took him up on it. Less thinking leads to a happier Eiji. With his meal to drink he ordered, what most restaurants are bound to have, sake. "Hm? Ah don't worry about it. I'm sure you're more livelier then you give yourself credit for." he tried to re-encourage. Then again you never know... this guy does seem rather... not.. lively, he thought to himself as he looked around, and gave an internal sigh.

Eiji suddenly laughed, "If I tell the musician to play a more up-beat tempo you must grow." He noticed that Zhong's figure draped when the melody changed and decided to poke fun at it.

"Cat.." With a nervous laugh and a scratch to the back of the head he still couldn't believe his cat would just jump out like that. He knew very well that pets and restaurants were not always the best mix. "Yeah, about that. Haha.. He just hoped none of the staff noticed or cared enough to bring it up or do something about it. "Yeah that was Sumu. He goes everywhere with me. Usually he knows not to just pop out when he's supposed to be hiding." he continued as he glared down at his partner in crime. Sumu answered the glare with a glare of his own and an accompanying meow; as he popped his head up and rested his chin on the table's rim. Sumu's eyes grew fixated on Zhong.

Eiji. The name sounded familar to him but he couldn't point where- and if- he had ever actually heard it. He shrugged, must have sounded like the name of something or someone else he new."Eiji it is," he nodded with another drink of his tall glass of water.

If his attention had not been averted the Lunarian might not have been so surprised when he heard the other order Sake. A mere flinch of the eyebrow was the only indication of his surprise, but when he looked up only a small smile was plastered of his face. Zhong had never taken alcohol with a liking, but the fact was that he hated something he had never even tried before. It was his upbringing; at least that was all that he could guess. His parents never drank sake in front of him or his sister, no matter the occasion.

He had always secretly felt like they did drink though. No parent he knew didn't drink. Some were just a bit more discrete.

Turning his attention towards Eiji, and away from the musicians that had distracted him by change of song, he nodded. "I am no more livelier than that last song was, and I don't think I grow with more upbeat music. I was just relaxed. That's all," he straightened up and allowed himself to lean back against the wall.

"I've never been allowed pets..." Zhong whispered, extending his hand to pet the cat. He touched the temple of his head and had enjoyed a few minutes of petting him before he was forced to withdraw his reach by a group of approaching waitresses. She announced that their food and drinks were ready. Following in suit they were delivered.

Interestingly enough, and as irony would have it, Zhong was delivered a warm bottle of Sake instead of his warm milk. By the time he realized it, as he had been examining his food, the waitress was gone.

"What am I supposed to do with this?" he asked, looking innocently at Eiji.

Eiji didn't know how much of that story he believed, but either way whether or not Zhong was honestly relaxed at the time or was that way because of his personality is irrelevant.

Sumu's ears pitched forward as he watched the approaching hand. Closing his eyes he rub his head against the petting hand. "I think that's a bad move on your parent's part. You'd be surprised how beneficial a pet can be. I know I'd be at a complete loss without Sumu, even though he is a major pain in the a**." Eiji always had Sumu with him for what felt like forever. He couldn't picture being without him. Then again his mother gave him his cat, so he wouldn't know what an anti-pet family would be like.

Normally, Sumu would have reacted to the comment about him being a pain in the a** but he was enjoying the petting far more then to worry about it. He was bit sad when they had to part due to the food arriving. As the waitresses came Sumu tucked back into a ball in the middle of Eiji's lap, avoiding getting in the way. He looked intently up at the table when the food and drinks were being placed down. Sumu cried faint meows, hoping to get some of the meal on the table above him; his cries went ignored.

Eiji was quite happy when his food came and even more so when he got his sake. A small grin came to his face, when he started poking at his food, as Zhong noticed he was given a bottle of sake instead of warm milk. Upon being questioned Eiji's focus went from his food to Zhong, "What do you mean 'What am I supposed to do with this?' You're going to drink it of course! What did you think you were supposed to do with it?"

"...You're going to drink it of course! What did you think you were supposed to do with it?"

Zhong hadn't taken the time to critically analyze or evaluate his opinions of Eiji, for he had only just met the other Lunarian. However with his eyes locked on to the small bottle of sake he sighed and extended his hand toward it. The bottle was warm in his touch and with Eiji's instruction to drink it he only stared. Zhong had never taken a drink of alcohol much less been near it.

Even if they did run a small restaurant- that was one thing they did not serve."Perhaps, I could just re-order my beverage. I'm sure they would replace it?"he said hesitantly. The smell of the plate of food beneath him lingered in his nostrils and caused him to shake his head.

A growling stomach was urging him to eat, but he didn't want to without something proper to drink on the side. Considering the glass or water had been taken away upon delivery he was left helpless.

"I should just take a drink, shouldn't I?" he admitted. Eiji's outburst sank his ability to try and rebuttal. Pouring himself a small glass he took it carefully in hand, and without hesitating, he swallowed it.

At first his face was sour, but it relaxed within moments of the warm liquid sinking down his throat."That was,"he paused, "good?"

"What? Re-order it?" Eiji questioned. Never in his life did he ever meet someone who wanted to re-order an alcoholic beverage for something else. Re-ordering because it was the wrong alcoholic beverage, yeah sure, it happens all the time but to change it to something completely different? Eiji heavily placed his elbow on the table and pointed at Zhong. "Don't you dare-you know what? Don't you even think about re-ordering that drink!" For someone with a love for alcoholic beverage as strong as Eiji he wasn't going to even let the thought of wasting that sake enter Zhongs mind. "You are going to sit there and you're going to drink it. If you drink it and find out you hate it that will be more respected then just tossing it away. Plus even if you try to order a new one I'll just have Sumu cause a ruckus at another table, bringing all the staffs attention to him, leaving no one to replace your drink." He leaned back into his chair and crossed his arms, watching Zhong to see what his next action is.

Eiji nodded once at Zhongs next rhetorical question.

The table grew quiet and Sumu popped his head up again to see what was going on. His focus went back and forth between the two lunarians before ending on Zhong again, who just finished trying the sake. "Good! Now that you got past testing the waters you can continue to drink." He took the pleasure upon himself to refill Zhong's glass, before finally pouring himself some of his own sake. He rose the the glass to about chin level and cheered, "Kanpai!" then drank.

Sumu's paw crept up in the attempt to steal one of the smaller pieces of food on the plate. -bat bat bat, rattle rattle rattle- Eiji heard the rattling from his plate as Sumu's paw batted the plate's rim, for quite a while, before landing on a piece of food. "Denied!" Eiji said as he lifted the paw that finally landed on something. "Don't think I didn't hear you, little thief."

Bringing his attention back to Zhong, "I bet you didn't think you'd actually enjoy it huh?" Eiji relaxingly said with a grin, as he leaned back once again, resting one arm over the back of his chair.

The restaurant remained full as time passed and the two Lunarians passed the time with one another. The musicians had left and come back after a short break and were now playing music that was up-beat and very nice to bounce along too in one's seat. The crowd in the restaurant had even changed as the sun went down. It became younger, looser, and a lot of them more courteous to the musicians.

With a large smile the blushing lunarian slammed his cup down on the table. "Come on, do it!" he begged, waving his empty cup at the other. He had dared Eiji into a drinking contest twice already and had failed. Zhong found out that he had a mild tolerance to alcohol but was quickly falling under the table. His speech was friendlier and he was louder and more hyper with every drink.

Laughing to himself he cheered on the musicians who roared back in gratitude at him. With a hiccup he looked at Eiji. "Where is Sumi?" he asked, leaning forward and coming within inches of the others face. Zhong had stopped calling the cat by it's proper name only a few drinks into the Sake and since had concluded to himself that it's name was Sumi and it was a white fluffy flying kitten.

"That food was good, don't you think so?"he commented, taking a small drink.

He was drunk, and he wanted to leave.

"Now listen here," Eiji answered with an elbow on the table and his finger repeatedly poking at Zhong's direction, empty glass in hand. "As you are now you don't have a chance in hell beat me." Eiji knew this guy had potential, even he was surprised Zhong is lasting as long as he was. He met many drunk lunarians, as he frequents the bar quite a lot, and a handful of them would have been long passed out by now. Hidden applause goes out to Zhong for his tolerance.

Accompanying Zhong in his cheering Eiji added his own whooping sound as he pumped his fist into the air. No private cheering was allowed; he had to add to it to make the sound even more grand. He was rather enjoying this later setting then what they originally came into. He had no idea this place would have changed the way it did as the time grew later. To his surprise this day wasn't turning out a complete failure; not that he had any expectations for it anyway.

When questioned he turned away from the musicians, only to have Zhong inches away from his face. During any other situation Eiji would have reacted with a bit of force at the sudden appearance of someone else, but tonight he was a bit around that. After blinking a few times he leaned back a bit, closed his eyes with a smile and patted Zhong's head. "Ahahahahaha." Pushing back on Zhong's head all the way until Zhong was once again seated, their positions switched, now Eiji was the one leaning over the table. With his hand still covering Zhong's forehead he questioned, "Where do you think Sumu went?"

Taking his seat again, "I can agree with that." he answered mocking in a professional, businessman like tone as he took another drink. "Though there's a way this meal could taste even better. It could be free-," he interrupted, clearing his throat, and corrected himself, "I mean. If you have the guts for it to be free," he ended with a grin. Taking another drink Eiji continued, "You do know what they say right? Everything tastes better when it's free." Not doing it often or even trying to do it, there are times when he simply "forgets" to pay.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 10, 2010 12:52 pm

"Sumu?" he didn't recognize the name and with a shift in his seating he pushed back on Eiji's hand to retort. "I beg to differ. I do not know who this Sumu is. Is Sumi still in your lap? I want to pet him. I've never petted a cat before." The Lunarian was intent on messing with the cat, even in his drunken state. Animals were just so calm and attractive. They purred and made you laugh when their fur rubbed up against you. Some of them were noisy, but Zhong wasn't thinking about that.

Momentarily distracted by the cup he was holding the Lunarian laid it down on the table as he heard Eiji mention something about a free meal. No once in his life had Zhong been served anything that did not come with out a price. If this meal did, he imagined that would make it taste tons better.

"...Everything tastes better when it's free."

His eyes grew wide and he nodded in agreement with Eiji. The other wasn't lying either. Thinking of this meal as a free one made his next drink taste even better. Standing up the Lunarian made his way to the door, only returning to grab the bottle of Sake and maneuver his way back. "Bye everyone!" he announced, slipping out without dropping a single cent on the afternoon meal.

With eyes fascinated with the moon he was distracted for a moment until he was urged to continue moving. The restaurant would be after them for not leaving their tab on the table if they didn't move soon. At least that was the reason Zhong assumed he was being urged forward. He didn't look back, he didn't even listen to see who was urging him out of the way.

Stumbling on to the street he walked on for a moment before he froze."Eiji, lets go somewhere. The moon is nice tonight. I do not want to go home." he said, his eyes drawn to the brilliant reflection on the moon's surface.

It was so peaceful, to be out on empty streets. The night was young. Why return home now? Latching to the closest individual, Zhong hoped it ended up being Eiji. He was too distracted in the attempt to keep himself balanced.

Now, he was beyond drunk.

Eiji couldn’t help but laugh at Zhong’s current state. It’s always amusing to him to be around who are, or even to be, drunk. Drunks are happy people most of the time, and even the violent ones can be taken down if need be. ”Haha don’t you worry about my dear Sumu. You will see him soon enough.” he reassured.

Terrible two those two make when trying to be troublesome. If they are together there’s a better chance of them being normal but when they are apart all bets are off. Raising his cup one last time he shouted “KANPAI!” and took a drink. Some other drunks at nearby tables got excited and started cheering too. The waitress just sighed at the sight while the younger ones giggled, finding it amusing how drunks can be so easily enticed. But the point wasn’t to get other cheering, not at all.

The hostess at the door and a few passing waiters and waitresses watched Zhong as he made his exit, not sure as to what he was going on about. One waiter questioned and the hostess replied. “Oh, um... that was Mr. Guo. He came here quite some time ago. I still have his tab.” she answered as she raised the paper that one of the waitress took his order on. “He was sitting with a Mr. Benjirou last I knew.” she directed the waiter to their table only to find Eiji looking in their direction with a grin on his face. He also replied with a hand gesture as if he was tipping his hat at them. He ended with an even bigger smile and a wave, they looked back with confusion.

Suddenly a stir happened around one of the more sober tables which started creating a crowd. There was some shouting and some apologizes being made by the staff. By this time Eiji was standing and turning to take his own leave; while the hostess and the waiter hurried over to see what was wrong. As they passed Eiji continued to smirk and kept his head forward, patting the back of the waiter as they passed, before running out the door. The waiter looked back as Eiji ran off, was about to do something about it but was tugged away by the hostess.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Eiji questioned as he shoved Zhong out into the street. ”Don’t just stand there! Get moving!”

Before leaving himself, he turned towards a few people that were now waiting to be seated. ”You know, I wouldn’t eat here. Something about the food being horrible and there being pieces of small dead animals in their meals. Eiji informed as he innocently shrugged. Their reaction, some of surprise and some of disgust, was all he needed to see to be happy; he laughed as he made his way to the door, giving one final wave before leaving.

Upon reaching the street Eiji heard the comment Zhong had made about the moon. He laughed, ”Man. What’s with you quite types and the moon. I bet you wish you could go up there.”
PostPosted: Thu Aug 05, 2010 10:22 pm

Zhong giggled as a hiccup escaped his throat. He could not help or mend his drunken state and had no will too. His position as it stood, was a fine one to be in. Whether Eiji saw him as a friend or companion, the lunarian knew he was in good hands. Rolling a small coin between his fingers he heard the other mention something about traveling to the moon.

The student had never thought of such a thing. "The only place I want to be is with someone I care about!"he shouted, tripping with a thud into the dusty ground. His fall was unexpected but he only let out a shrill of laughter before he used Eiji to return to his feet.

Pulling off the sash that kept his top closed around his waist the lunarian ran forward and turned on Eiji. "Lets go somewhere! Anywhere!" he smiled. It was the happiest Zhong had ever been, and not once in his life had he ever taken off any piece of his clothing in front of anyone but his family.

With a smirk permanently stitched into his face he looked around and spotted the dreary buildings which loomed over them. He watched as they cast long shadows on the street, and how their faint light only crept so far. This city was so foreboding in the evening hours, especially after many of the smaller businesses had closed. Eying one normally lively building he tilted his head in confusion. He had no idea that the city god this dark at night.

He eyed the other with a saddened expression. Taking the others hand he pulled him a few steps before stopping."Why am I leading your journey?" he questioned with a hiccup. He wanted to be surprised.
