Situated in the quiet roads, the Huo Li residence is isolated at a dead end.
Although they could afford a home in the Imperial Palace,
the general disposition of the family
separates them from casual interactions with other Legionnaires.

1. Sociable
❀❀When around people, he is very dynamic, spoiling friends and strangers alike with a cordial love. He smiles often and laughs genuinely, making him approachable and somewhat charming, yet some, if not many, can be put off by his over the top persona. However, his potential leadership qualities come into view in this trait. Jun can easily speak to anyone. When talking with older authorities, he will feel humbled in their presence, but he does not get nervous; therefore, Jun finds it second nature to be outgoing.

❀❀Jun initially finds the good in others, rather than the bad. He also gets really energetic and quirky when around people. Compared to other reserved Lunarians, some of his actions would appear to be unorthodox. He uses his entire body to talk, not just his hands. Jun can be quite touchy too, at times; sometimes he forgets the personal spaces of others, violating some common courtesy. His friendliness can become a harmful concoction. When building a relationship with someone, he dedicates himself to it; therefore, when betrayed, he mourns in a closed, evasive manner.

2. Romantic
❀❀Jun is a die-hard romantic. He would love to gently lift the hand of his lover, place a kiss against her warm skin and look her in the eyes. The problem is that there is no one to do this for. If he finds a girl that he is attracted to, he may attempt to flirt, but that usually ends in a punch to the face. He may believe he knows how to treat a girl, but all his wisdom comes from the fairytales he saw performed by Miào’s troupe. Jun keeps this part of him a secret from his others. He often plays the "tough-guy" charade in public to mask his romantic tendencies. His mother and father would probably die from disgust if they ever found out.

3. Impatient
❀❀Waiting for progress to take place is like childbirth for Jun: slow and painful. Delays he deems unnecessary will be agonizing, but he has learned not to always surrender to his contracting patience. Fundamentally, Jun only sees the end of the tunnel, rather than the journey it takes to get there. He desperately wants to achieve mastery, yet he slows himself down by trying to rush his efforts in an ironic twist. Therefore, it is wrong to say that this does not cause him to rush some assignments, giving others the illusion that he is entirely stupid. He’s not a genius, but he’s not at the bottom of the spectrum either. His work ethic needs some help, that’s all.

❀❀His usage of seal magic may also suffer because of the complex and precise gestures required for its effectiveness. It also takes longer for him to learn new combat skills, as well. His impatience may be detrimental, in combat, as well. Jun may be tempted to jump into battle as soon as possible and will usually be the one initiating the first move.

4. Competitive
❀❀Jun’s parents are to blame for his overly competitive nature. The firework business has a lot of competitors and so he has been living under the belief that if one was to survive, one has to fight to get ahead. This force drives him to work in diligence, despite his impatience, but makes him hard to work with. He often adds a tinge of contest towards everything he does, treating even the most trivial things as games. It is important to note that Jun does not like losing and will blame his many defeats on the miscellaneous. If he wins, his pride can evolve into an irritating itch.

5. Intrepid
❀❀ Fearless! Brave! Dauntless, yes! But boy, is he ever reckless. When caught in the moment, Jun is oblivious to the possible consequences of his actions. It is only when he calms himself down that he is able to be thoughtful, but that rarely happens. Being the son of very haphazard parents, his conception of what is dangerous and what is not is heavily blurred. He is very enterprising and when given the option, will take the hardest path to accomplish something. It is a wonder that he is the only one in his family that does not have a missing limb.

❀❀Born into a long line of pyrotechnicians, Jun inherited his parents’ love for explosions. At a young age, Jun nurtured this passion, despite the dangers surrounding it. His household was familiar with the hazardous environment their explosives created, and Jun grew up embracing the risks of this life. Eventually his knowledge of powder mixing was basic enough for him to help the home. The family owned a prominent business selling fireworks, catering to the government and the royalty that could afford them. Luckily, they had struck a deal with the government, allowing them to be the sole provider for fireworks during feasts and other celebrations. Although his parents were crass, competitive people, they were intelligent and business savvy, able to outcompete other firework-masters. It was during these performances that Jun was able to hone his skills, creating and firing fireworks. Occasionally, acrobatics were included in the act which Jun adopted into his repertoire. Furthermore, he was able to receive more practice for his craft due to a neighbouring theatre troupe. His family had worked out a deal with the neighbours, offering free fireworks for their shows in exchange for free advertising. It was through this contract that he met his childhood friend, Chen Miào yīn.

❀❀Up until this point, Jun was friendless. Although he was a very sociable boy and had some siblings, other families shooed their sons away from him. Jun’s rambunctious family had garnered an infamous reputation for themselves, and other parents did not want their children to end up like the “haphazard mess” Jun had become. However, he became attached to Miào yīn and his family. Miào yīn’s parents were accepting of Jun, but there was some animosity between him and the two ‘aunties’ of the troupe. Regardless, Jun and Miào yīn worked on shows together and became a solid team. The firework-boy would always wake up bright and early, waiting for Miào yīn to come outside to start the day after climbing up the tree that was in front of the Chen family's abode. In fact, that was how they first met. He never managed to climb down the trees he got into; the “getting down part” never crossed his mind properly. At long last, Jun’s recklessness became infectious. Miào yīn, albeit being hesitant at first to comply with some of his various antics (like scaring the old man down the street with noisemakers), gradually broke to become his partner in crime. Time passed and things changed, however.

❀❀One fateful night, when the sky was clear and the stars were shining, Jun scaled the tree in front of Miào yīn’s house with a firework in hand. The stars were especially bright that night and Jun could not help but admire the celestial bodies hovering above him. Wanting to feel connected with the stars, he lit his missile and aimed it towards the intangible beacons. Something went horribly wrong. He had overestimated the amount of powder that was needed. The force of the propulsion knocked Jun off the tree as the firework spiralled into the theatre troupe’s bird shack. With a big explosion, the fire consumed the area, the shrill cries of birds drowning the air. Jun was horribly scared. He ran back to his house and slept through the chaotic sounds of a family hopelessly trying to douse the fire.

❀❀The next morning, Miào yīn and his family knocked on their door. Holding the burnt remains of a dragon-like missile, they threw the offending article onto the feet of Jun’s parents. An argument ensued between the two families with Jun left hiding behind his mother’s legs. Miào yīn’s favourite bird, along with many other exotic breeds escaped, never to return, and the troupe lost several props and items for their business. Being eight at the time, Jun was stubborn, refusing to apologize. His equally headstrong parents did not help with the resolution of the conflict, as well, building the flames between the two families higher and higher. The parents supported their son, but it offered only little solace. The friendship was now a pile of ashes and in consequence, Jun’s clan moved to the other side of town.

❀❀The next ten years were hard on Jun. He was back to being friendless, once again. Due to their forms of business, both families found themselves working for the same high-class households at times. Whenever Jun would see Miào yīn, they would barely acknowledge each other’s presences, perhaps only doing so to provide bitter remarks in between backstage crossings. Jun longed for the friendship to return, but in secret. When he found out that Miào yīn was working as a dishwasher at the Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar, he would go there everyday without letting Miào yīn realize that he was there. In an effort to “support” him in his endeavors, Jun would vigorously lick all his dishes, much to the chagrin of nearby customers who had the pleasure of witnessing such a bewildering spectacle. Lately, all of his concentration has been put into the creation and perfection of his fireworks. This dedication proved useful. When the war began showing signs of momentum, Jun’s family sided with the Legion, knowing that if they were to side with the Nobles, their business may very well burn to the ground.

❀❀Now, he is willing to solve the issues between him and Miào yīn, having missed his companionship. However, he gravely worries about the feud existing between the adults and more importantly, Miào yīn’s possible rejection of him.
