Casual:
Houndoom is a great pokemon to use ingame. Dark and Fire STAB aren't common early. Good Atk, S.Atk and Speed. It's a bit weak in HP and defense. There's not much I can complain about Houndoom.

Competitive:
Like I said, Houndoom has nice stats, and it's one of the stronger sweepers in UU (Tied for 5th best S.Atk in UU) for strong choice sets, or mix it up with it's respectable Atk for a Mixed set.
With those stats, it comes with 6 resistances and an immunity to psychic.
Although it takes 25% from steath rocks, and there is a very common counter to Houndoom in UU. Dugtrio with Arena trap will not only keep you from switching out of it's 2x damage Earthquakes, it also outspeeds you. Bulky waters also pose a huge threat.
It's a bit of a glass cannon, effective on those unprepared.
(Unfortunately for me, I never pulled it off a good Nasty Plot sweep so this rating is taking a hit)
