A Baby?
Makani was sitting outside under a starry sky, not that he could exactly see them, listening to the wind as it blew by. He was sitting there, a bit on the stunned side, his hands clasped together in his lap. It was a moment that he had actually been certain was never going to happen, the fact that his sister Eira was with child. He hadn't really thought that she would ever want a child, nor did she think that he would want to have a child, it was... strange. At the same time it was rather exciting, wasn't it? He was going to be an uncle, which made him want nothing more then to celebrate. At least once he was able to really wrap his head around everything that he'd learned tonight.
His sister had come to him, feeling that his magic would be able to help out as far as confirming whether or not she was carrying. It was a shock to the system to be asked that sort of question, like having icy water dumped on his head. Once he'd recovered though he'd done as she asked, hovering a hand over her belly, allowing his power to flow. It had taken but a moment for him to sense the new life within her. It was a strange discovery, to learn that he could sense such a thing, but useful nevertheless. At least according to his sister, she said that he would be able to make sure that the baby was a strong one with his powers, which meant that she wanted to keep the baby safe.
Of course the moment that he thought she was doing something kind, asking him for his aid in making sure the baby was kept safe, she also asked for something that was more 'Eira' of her. That being for him to use his healing powers to keep her from ending up with scars that could be caused by pregnancy. It was something that made him laugh just thinking about it. At least he knew already that being a mother wouldn't completely change his sister, though maybe it would make her more responsible? Hard to say really but he supposed that they would see with time.
Leaning back the sage allowed himself to rest against Rae's fluffy side, using her plush fur as a comfortable pillow, "It will be interesting, seeing my sister with a child." He said to the raptrix, before giving a bit of a laugh, "Well, you know what I mean." He wouldn't 'see' everything per say but he would still be there to enjoy what it meant to be an uncle. He was kind of curious about what the little one might end up like. Eira had mentioned that the baby would end up being the heir of the inn, but what all would that entail? Would the little one want to be something like that? He was a little worried but Eira didn't seem as though she was as worried personally. She had plans and it seemed as though she was certain that the little one would follow along with those plans. He hoped that it all went well for everyone involved and that everyone was happy.
There was a moment, as he thought about the future that had a niece or nephew in it, what he thought of it all. Not the idea of being an uncle, but instead what he thought about what he himself might do. He wondered if he ever might end up with children of his own. A curious thought but not one that he wanted to focus on too hard, not when he didn't even have a girlfriend. Sure, he had fluttering feelings for Sin'qua, had a desire to do something nice for her, get her a present, flowers, something that would allow him to show those feelings. That was far, far different from having a girlfriend though... and it was far different from what Eira had done as well. Makani knew that she had her reasons, the first and foremost being a desire for an 'heir' but since he had nothing for a child to be an heir to he didn't think that such a method would work for him.
No, if he ever ended up with a child it would be because of his feelings for the child's mother. He wouldn't find himself a random surrogate to get himself a child. While it was a nice enough though, that of having a child someday, he was in no rush. Especially given his eyes. He doubted that he would be able to take care of a child properly himself so a devoted mother would be necessary, wouldn't it? A thought that he brushed aside with a little sigh. In this moment, when it came to this particular subject matters, was the only time that he really resented his blind eyes. Not something that he didn't want to think about. Instead he would turn his thoughts away from that and toward his sister instead.
He would see chat with her about it, about having appointments with her to check on the development of the child. He would make sure that she took it easy when it came to dancing, as well as everything else important. He wouldn't be alone in it though, he would make sure that Gyuri and Sin'qua helped out as well. Which had him wondering, had she told them about it yet? What would they think? Would they be as curious as he was about the biggest mammu in the room? Who was the father...? The only thing that she told him was the fact that the father was a 'traveling artist' but other then that and the fact that he was a member of the Ice Tribe she said the rest wasn't important. Only the child was important, making him feel that the father likely wasn't going to be coming back, which was a little sad.
It was Eira's choice though so he supposed that the rest of the troupe should just support her where they could. He was eager to figure out what Sin'qua's reaction might be though. If only because he'd love to know what her reaction could possible be if one day Eira was to hand the baby was handed to her. Just the thought of it had him laughing as he pushed to his feet, "Come on Rae, let's go back inside. Best that we check in on everything before the crowds get really rambunctious."
