It was a few days after the initial accident and Riya had her eyes open now. Well, one eye at least. The other was swollen and black and from the looks of it a blood vessel had busted in the sclera since it was red rather than white. She still hadn't been allowed to move, not that she wanted to, everything hurt. Her grandmother had taken care of her when she first arrived but her father had gone to fetch Makani, a family friend, to come help even more.

Her ears were ringing and most sound was muffled, as if she were under water, so it took her slightly longer to react to things. Trying to look around the ice girl caused herself some pain. "Where...?" There was a question she wanted to ask but she couldn't think of it at the moment. Iriyana was suffering from a concussion and confusion was still clouding things.

It was the first time that he'd been back in Zena for some time now and he found himself a little surprised by the cold. He felt as though he'd been spoiled by the fact that he'd been living in warmer areas he thought to himself as he adjusted the long, blue scarf that he had wrapped around himself. It was something that he normally wore as a decorative piece around his waist back in Sauti but in Zena it was necessary to use it for its intended purpose instead. He was lead through the snow, with Rae at his side, toward where it was that Riya was being kept. It was her father, Huyana that had fetched him and brought him here, wanting to get him to the young girl.

He was brought inside and the mage gave a nod those those that he could sense around him before making a hand motion toward Rae, "Stay." He said to the big raptrix who laid down instantly, her fluffy tail wagging behind her. He gave her a nod before continuing forward, to where his patient was sitting, and he walked forward once more. Around his feet was some swirling, magical energy that allowed Makani to 'see' without seeing, keeping the fox eyed man from running into anything as he went.

Stepping into the room where Riya awaited him he walked forward, settling down in the chair that was next to the bed where she was laying. As though Chi was blessing them both just as he'd sat down she spoke up, a good sign because it meant that she was actually able to speak. He was sure on all of the details but from what he gathered it was a good thing. It showed that she was still capable of speech, now the next step was determining the extent of her injuries and how she was doing mentally. Reaching into his pocket he got out a set of rainbow colored, glowing runes, allowing them to all lift off his hands. From there they floated upwards, moving to float above Riya, moving slowly above her. He fed magical power through them and set about inspecting her wounds that way given that he wouldn't be able to examine the girl in a normal fashion.

"Try to relax and remain still while I inspect your injuries, Riya." He said in a soothing tone of voice as he worked.

She made noises of effort as she tried to at least sit up. There was someone in her room. Or, the room she was in. Was it her room? Riya couldn't remember. When trying to sit up hurt too much and she was told to remain still the girl easily gave up. The voice was familiar. "Makani?" Came her inquiry.

With the one eye she was able to open she looked toward him. Her vision was a little blurry and the glowing stones made it a bit harder to focus but she was sure she could see his blonde hair. With a sigh of relief she licked her dry lips, hissing as the scab on the bottom one split, and offered a weak nod of her head. Lay still. She could do that. Closing her eye she seemed to be pulled in the direction of unconsciousness again, if only for a minute or two, but then forced her eye open again to watch the stones. Thinking that because Makani was there she was at the Inn she murmured aloud, "Sorry. Eira. The furs.." She had to be getting them dirty, right?

Makani nodded, "Just like a woman to do the exact opposite of what someone asks of them." He said with a little chuckle, making another motion with his hand the runes started to move a little faster, "You need only relax until my runes are done with their work... and well, until you're healed up as well... but let's start with reading your wounds so that I know best how to go about healing you." After a time of reading the various injuries he gave a little shake of his head. It wasn't good, but it could have been far worse... that she was alive was a miracle in and of itself.

As she apologized for the furs, seeming as though Eira would be upset by it, he gave a shake of his head, "You needn't worry about upsetting my sister as we aren't in the inn, Riya. In fact we aren't even in Sauti at the moment." He lifted his hands up, getting the glowing runes to moving a little more quickly above the young prentice, "The injuries that you have sustained are in places severe. I should begin with an initial healing session, it should ease your pain to a degree, make it easier for you to breath." He explained to the girl that was laying before him.

Making a few motions with his hands he started to gather magic to himself, "Alright, I am going to start. It might be a little odd as the healing starts to take hold, try to stay still and let the magic power flow through you."

The beginnings of a smile started to show but were cut short when trying to laugh hurt. When she was told that they weren't in Sauti she did her best to move her brows closer together, but the muscles on one side of her face practically screamed in pain. It seemed that her other eye was swollen shut for a reason. Injuries. Healing. "Sauti..?" Her mind tried to piece everything together but it was like a big blank spot.

She started taking deeper breaths, and wincing with a grunt each time, as she stared at the ceiling. Not in Sauti, so then where was she? As Makani told her to let the magic flow through her she tried to nod her head. What bothered her the most wasn't that she had to stay still or that she was in pain, it was the fact that she couldn't seem to remember why she needed healing and why she was in pain. "Makani. Where... are. We?" Each word, each syllable, was separated by an intake of air.

Makani's hands paused in the motions that they were making to gather the magical energy as she questioned him, something that had his mind whirling for a moment. There was a moment where he worried that she might be suffering from amnesia but he felt that it wasn't the case, not entirely at least, not when she obviously remember him, his sister Eira, and the inn. She knew some details, but seemed to be lacking in others, which made him curious about it all. Not that he wanted to hassle her too much. She was in a fragile state after all.

"Easy now, slow, steady, and easy breaths, Riya." He said as he started to move his hands again, once more getting the magical energies flowing. As he did so he said, "Tell me, Riya, what were you doing today?" Best to see what she might remember but it was best that he did so in a manner that told him how her mind was doing. As she asked where they were he gave a thoughtful sound, "I can't say exactly in Zena we are for... well, obvious reasons. I can tell you that we are in your grandmother's place, she is the one who was taking care of you until I arrived."

Slow breaths. Iriyana tried yet again to nod her head but her head hurt. Why did her head hurt. What was she doing today? Riya did her best to think though it seemed Makani gave her a clue as to what she was doing. She was in Zena. Oh right, she'd asked to spend time up north. So Valek had been bringing her.. "We were on our way to grandmothers." She was missing several days since the incident had happened after that. "Were. Were we attacked?" Was that what was wrong?

Riya tried yet again to sit up. "Valek!?" Pain exploded in her ribs and made her breathing hitch. With a cry of pain she curled up, one arm flying to her ribs and smacking into them. Iriyana was causing herself more harm as she reacted to theories and pain. "Vale-" With precious little breath she ended up coughing before she could finish calling for the older ice male that she called her brother.

Tears pooled as she leaned back wanting the pain to stop. "We. Attacked?"

"Your father tells me you were found at the base of a cliff, that you had possibly fallen from the top." He murmured, wondering exactly what had lead to that. There were many possibilities. An accident like her slipping and falling, her jumping purposefully... but that didn't seem likely, and then the idea that someone might have pushed her. His inspection of her wounds told him a lot, the ones centered around her upper arms being the most telling. He couldn't see them, could only sense them, but it appeared at least in his minds eye that they were bruises that seemed to almost be in the shape of finger marks. It was something worrisome because it meant that someone could have tried to kill her.

He wouldn't say as much though since she already seemed riled up, calling out for the one called Valek. Makani shook his head, "I will ask if he is around and if he can come in to visit with you once we are done with your first healing session. Until we are done though you will need to stay calm. We don't want your body to panic and reject the magic." He told her in a gentle voice, making a few motions with his hands to resume the flow of magic from his hands, to floating runes, and finally to Riya herself.

"You don't recall anything from the accident then I take it? I will have to ask around, to see if anyone else knows anything more then your father knows. What he knows is all that I know at this point which is very little." She might very well have been attacked but for now he'd refer to it as an 'accident' to keep her calm.

Since her panic was causing her too much pain she managed to calm down long enough to hear his words. Riya needed to remain calm in order for the magic to take. Of course she now knew that she had been found at the bottom of a cliff. There had been no cliffs on the way up, so that meant Valek was fine.

When Makani wanted to know if she remembered anything she was about to shake her head but paused. "He kicked me.. I was trying to climb up. He kicked me." Well that was something. At least she knew how she ended up at the bottom of the cliff.

Makani's magic seemed to move in a jerking wave motion as the girl mentioned someone kicking her off a cliff. It was something he was quick to correct though, wanting to keep his magic from going out of control even a little bit. As he got it back under control he had to ask, "He kicked you? Sounds like a terrible sort of person." He wondered if her father knew? If he should tell the man? Well... he definitely should tell him but not right now. Right now he had to continue with the healing process. Given her wounds it wasn't going to be an easy task. He hadn't dealt with wounds like this for a while, not since he was working as a combat medic back during war times.

There was another thought he was quick to brush aside lest it cause his magic to misbehave. He forced himself to focus and said, "Well, while I am not sure who he was if you hear a voice that is akin to the one who kicked you let me know. I will be sure not to let him near you." While he couldn't go off of looks or anything else that would make fending off a dangerous man easy he could at least have the girl listen for a familiar voice. If she heard it she could point it out to Makani then they would go from there. Here was to hoping such a thing didn't happen though since it was bound to stress the girl out if her attacker reemerged.

"Take a slow, deep breath, and tell me if the magic is having an effect as far as making it easier to breath." Makani told the girl, wanting to know if it was helping in that instances. Given the damage to her ribs it was what he needed to focus on, wanting to deal with the worst injuries first before moving on to smaller things.

Hear his voice again? Riya certainly hoped that she didn't. Of course that would also entail her remembering what he sounded like. If she even knew. With the way her mind was all clouded she doubted she'd be able to remember much of anything beyond the bottom of his boot. Still she would try, maybe not right now but she would.

When Makani told her to take a slow deep breath to see if breathing came easier she did. She was hesitant at first, anticipating pain and wanting to avoid it, but she eventually took in a full breath. There was a small squeaking grunt as her side still hurt upon expanding but when she let it out she seemed to relax a little more. "It's a little easier." That meant the magic was working, right? That was good. Iriyana didn't want her body to reject the healing.

Though she did think of something else and it made her turn her head to look at Makani, despite him not being able to look back. "D-do you now if Uli saw me.. like this? I don't want him to.." What would she do if her little twin saw her so beat up? She wouldn't be strong anymore. She'd be weak.

"Good to hear." Makani said, glad that the healing was aiding her as far as her breathing was going... though given the squeaking sound that she made he'd guess that she wasn't completely in the clear. There was still much to do though he wondered if he could even get it all in one sitting? This was one of those times when having another healer nearby would be nice. Someone that he could share magical energy with so that he could do more then he would normally be able to do. No matter though. He meant to do this even if it meant a couple of healing sessions. It wasn't as though he had to get back to the inn straight away after all.

As Riya asked about her brother he gave a little shake of his head, "I am uncertain of whether or not he's seen you... but if you would rather he didn't enter your room until you're better I will see to that." Whatever made his patient more at east he thought to himself. He felt a little bad over the idea of having to banish her twin from her room but it would be for the best. He'd just have to make it up to Hulis later was all.

With the pain easing up enough for her to breath small breaths without hurting she settled in to relax even more. Riya didn't want to cause her body to reject the magic that Makani was using to help her. When he agreed to keep Hulis out of the room while she healed she closed her eyes. "Thank you.." It was mean of her to ask such a thing but she didn't want to ruin her brother's view of her.

With her eyes closed she felt the pull of sleep and had to force her eyes open again to resist it. "Am I supposed to be tired?"

"Once you're feeling better though I suggest letting him visit. I am sure his attention and affection will help you to get back on your feet. I know in the past when I wasn't feeling well that my sister helped me out a lot. She can be quite sweet even if she seems very serious at times." Serious, arrogant, and ever in control... but she had her kind side too. Something that people only realized if they spent enough time with her. Giving a little smile he continued to make his motions with his hands, keeping the magic flowing. He would do so for as much as he could, until he was too tired to go on.

Giving a smile he nodded, "Yes. Your body expends a lot of energy when it comes to healing and what I am doing is sort of putting that healing into fast forward. It will tire both of out but if it helps you to feel better it will definitely be worth you needing extra naps." He told her, feeling that it was best that she knew that she might be tired for some time to come. It just came with the territory since a healing could be quite draining. Bettering tired then hurting though.

She thought about it. Letting Uli in to see her when she was feeling better might be okay. But right now she was practically broken. Riya didn't want her twin to see her this way.

As Makani explained to her that she was basically using energy to heal and he was using magic to speed it up she gave a yawn. A yawn that hurt her face and was stopped short in favor of a cringe and groan. "You don't have to wear yourself out uncle Makani." If he needed to stop and rest she could sleep. As long as breathing was made a little easier she should be fine. Right? "If you need to stop I don't mind. I'm kinda hungry." Thankfully she was a bit more long winded than before now that she could breathe without sharp pain.
