Invited to a ball!?!

Lily entered her room and almost immediately she noticed the thing. It was so out of place, stuck to her dresser mirror. She quickly crossed her room to remove it, rather upset that it was there in the first place.
Pulling the paper down carefully not wanting to upset the balance of the large mirror, she looked it over. It was an invitation. Lily gave the paper she had thought to be Rose's way of intruding on her neatness a hard stare before reading the paper.
Lily instantly became rather confused. Chamberlyn? The name sounded a little familiar, but the name Jada did not and Lily did not understand why she was being invited to a ball for a girl she did not even know. She frowned, the invite held gently in her hand, and headed out her room, down the long hallway to the upstairs sitting room. Lily knocked softly, receiving a call from her mother to enter.
"Liliana, love come sit with me," she said softly.
Lily crossed the room heading for the balcony on which her mother sat with a book in her hands.
"Mother," she said her tone questioning as she reached exited onto the balcony and sat on the loveseat style bench with her mother.
Alyssa was not looking at her daughter, but at the invitation in her hand. "Oh I see you've found your invitation," she said smiling.
"Yes," Lily said barely managing to hold the 'and almost threw it in the trash' to herself. She looked to the invitation again and sighed, "Who is Jada Chamberlyn? I do not believe I have ever met her."
Alyssa shook her head lightly, "You may have when you were younger, though you would have to ask you father dearest. I believe the family may be old business associates of his. Your father is important dear, he knows many people from around the world. He wishes for you to attend. It is for charity and he will be writing a check for the event."
Lily took in the information feeling very nervous at how very important it sounded, but she nodded to her mother. She volunteered all the time and she knew how very important charity was especially in Destiny City. "Mother, I do not have a dress, or anything appropriate for a ball. I have never been to anything so formal before I am nervous I will make a fool of you and father."
Alyssa put her hand on her daughter cheek softly, "Nonsense Lily. Hush those words love. You are very mature for someone so young and I am certain you will do us very proud. Just remember you manners and try to have fun, remember Lily it is a party. As for your attire, do not worry. We will go shopping before the ball. I received the invite quite some time ago and gave it to your father, but he had to go away for three weeks right after and the invitation has only just resurfaced. I am sorry to spring it one you so suddenly Lily."
Lily nodded to her mother giving a small smile, "It okay mom and thank you. I will try to have fun. I promise. Who knows maybe I will even make a few new friends." The sparkle had returned to her eyes and the previous misplacement of the invite to her dresser mirror was forgotten. She rose from he chair and turned, "I go ask Xander if he will come with me. See you at dinner mother."
Lily quickly headed out into the hall remembering to close the door behind her and nearly walking right into her sister.
Rose quickly plucked the pretty paper from her sister’s hand, "What's this?"
Lily watched nervously as her sister read the invitation, eyes widening with her words.
"A ball, ey? Well then you will need a new hairdo," Rose declared.
Lily's eyes went wide and she quickly made a retreat for her room. She remembered clearly when Rose decided that she herself needed a new hairdo. She had curly locks down to her bottom in the morning and when she came home on her eighteenth birthday her curl had been cut all the way up to her ears. There was NO way she was letting Rose near her precious curls.
