Isikali , Sumati's mother was born under another name into a place where mates are arranged - many marriages end happily but others, like hers, do not. Barely an adolescent she was married to a wealthy orange cheetah whose real name she has never revealed but who she now calls Butu'ndole, on the very rare occasion he is mentioned. Butu'ndole means Blunt Claws, and she bitterly jokes he was always trying to sharpen them on her hide, often for very little reason.

A dutiful wife, she tried to love him and when that failed she tried to stand him. But one day she could take it no more, named herself Wild Heart and vowed never to let herself be oppressed again.

What her husband didn't know (thank goodness!) or Isikali herself when she set out but she was carrying their first litter ever.She found her way to the Achana and took refuge there from the cheetahs her husband sent after her, to hurt her and drag her back or even possibly to kill her.

That is where Sumati and his two bothers were born. He doesn't know much about his father, but he has picked up that he wasn't the nicest guy around. He grew a loving and healthy cub, his only desire being to protect his loved ones and his home.

As a juvenile he met Kipepo, a young cheetah girl and a seer. After a bit of a rough start the two became close friends. He finds her character very unique and highly values her friendship. Kipepo might be a little moody sometimes, but he is his closest female friend and his best friend.
