Hidden in the shade of a large bush Sumati lazily watched as two beetles went around each other in circles. Maybe it was a fight or a mating ritual (though Sumati didn't yet know what 'mating' was exactly, but he's heard adults say it), he didn't really know, but it provided some sort of entertainment.
The blue cheetah cub yawned and put his head on the ground, in between his front paws. He had played with a couple of cubs earlier but their mother had called them for something and he was now left without playmates. He hadn't seen either of his brothers since this morning and had no idea where to find them.
Besides, it was the hottest part of the day and he had no intention of wandering anywhere in this heat. Though the jungle was probably much cooler than this place...He wondered if he should go there. There was also a good chance that his brothers were also there.

Bhekizitha sighed boredly as he wandered toward the tiny blue form he could see in the distance that was obviously his brother. Now what was Sumati up to at this time of day. Hopefully it was something decently interesting. It was a hot and incredibly dull day, not unlike the past few days, and frankly, the young cub was tired of having nothing interesting to do. They'd have to make some fun if nothing else.
The light green cheetah paused in his stroll, glancing over his shoulder before he suddenly bolted forward with the burst of speed his species was the best known for. With this running start, it wasn't hard for him to leap at his brother, letting his momentum carry him hopefully into his brother. "What're you up to Summy?" The lad asked with a small smile, sending a curious glance to the beetles then looking back to the other cheetah.

With the corner of his eye Sumati noticed the green blur coming at him barely seconds before Bhekizitha jumped at him, leaving the blue cheetah boy with no time to react. He just lowered his head, to avoid a head-on collusion (which could be rather painful) and then looked up at the green cheetah with a grin.
"Hey 'Zitha!" he greeted, completely forgetting the beetles "I was just wondering where you were." he rolled onto his back, playfully extending a paw to swat at his brother. "Nothing much, just being really bored. And hot. Maybe we should go to the jungle, at least there's some trees there." he suggested, thinking of the cool springs that could be found there.

He gave a playful growl as he landed on his brother, grinning down at the other. "Well here I am." Bhekizitha stated as he allowed himself to be pushed off by the playful swat. "But we do need to think of something to do. I'm so bored." The cheetah cub swatted lightly at his blue brother before he sat down next to him.
"Yeah, I suppose the jungle could have something interesting to do. And we would at least get away from this heat." He nodded, climbling to his feet and trotting toward the shade of the giant trees. "Well come on Summy. Let's go find something to do."

Sumati lifted a paw to par the swat with a playful growl. "Alright, let's go!" he said and rolled off his back. He got to his paws and stretched before running after his brother. After several paounces he fell into step with him.
"Y'know, I heard those leopard twins saw a white parakeet the other day." he told Bhekizitha "I heard those bring good luck if you manage to catch one." He didn't remember who he heard it from, but he knew it was an old superstition. Still, it would be fun. "Wanna go on a little hunt?" he smiled broadly "It's a good way to kill the boredom, at the least."

"A white parakeet, huh?" Bhekizitha frowned for a moment, thinking the idea over before he gave a quick nod. "That sounds like it would be fun." His voice became excited and as it did, his pace quickened slightly.
He stopped, peering up into the massive trees of the forest. "Now if I was a white parakeet..... Where would I hide, you think?" The cub wondered to himself, his eyes jumping from branch to branch.

Sumati thought over the question as he followed his brother. "Up high in the trees?" he replied. That much was obvious. "Or it might be near the spring, you know, the one that always has a bunch of birds there." he added after a second. That place seemed to really draw the feathered creatures. And Sumati, the cheeky little boy that he was, loved to suddenly jump out from the bushes and scare them out of their wits. It was quite the view wjen all the birds flew away at the same time. The thought made him smile.

Bhekizitha smiled to himself as well at the thought of scaring all the birds off. "Yeah. That would be a good place to find a bird." He agreed, giving his brother a light nudge, "Good idea." The light green cub grinned, "But we can't scare 'em this time."
Now how would they go about catching this bird? "We're going to have to be really quiet sneakin' up on it and then we're gonna have to be really fast so it can't fly away." He stated, frowning to himself as he wondered how they'd stop the avian from escaping.

"Yeah, we can't." nodded Sumati, grinning back at his brother. "Sneaking is a good." he agreed "But how are we going to stop it from flying away? We have to be damn quiet to sneak up that close." he asked, his mind drawing at a blank.
"Unless one of us climbs up a tree and the other scares it towards him..." he mused "Nah, that's dumb, we aren't leopards." he shrugged off the idea. He didn't think either of the two could climb up that well. Not that they had tried before...

"Yeah... Only a leopard could get up one of those trees." He stated as he lifted a paw and examined his claws. "We don't have the claws for it. We'd fall on our butts and then everyone would laugh at us." Bhekizitha sighed, frowning. "But I've seen other people catch birds, so we should be able to. What if we came at it from opposite sides and then when it tried to fly away the best jumper could leap up and grab it. That would work, right?"

"Leopards are lucky that way." Sumati said and his claws twitched involuntarily, digging into the ground. "We can't climb as high as them for sure." he looked up at the trees which seemed to touch the sky "I wonder how it feels to be up there. Though I doubt it's better than running." he said, voice full of certainty.
"That should totally work!" Sumati agreed, bouncing ahead, but keeping a lookout in case the bird they were searching for was around. He stopped and looked back at his brother "Let's go! The faster we get there, the faster we get this birdie."

Bhek nodded, smiling as he raced past his brother. "Well come on, slow poke!" He teased jokingly, peering ahead for the bird they were searching for. As the two cheetah cubs neared the spring, he slowed to a stop, ears forward and alert. "Alright, now we've got to see if it's here." He whispered softly, staring forward into the brush.

"We'll see who's the slow poke here!" Sumati raced after Bhekizitha. He didn't see any speck of white while he was running 'It has to be at the spring' With one final jump he landed softly next to his brother. "Alright. I'll go around the other side." Sumati whispered back "If I see it I'll use the chirp. You do the same i you spot it." He was referring to that special bird sound cheetahs used to call each other. It was near impossible to tell the difference between a cheetah and a bird.
Sumati left his brother and silently sneaked to the other side of the spring and crawled under the bushes, trying to locate the parakeet. If it was there at all.

The cheetah nodded, watching carefully as his brother took off for the other side of the spring. Now they just had to hope that the parakeet was indeed there. He slunk toward the water on his belly, his tail flicking. There! Bhekizitha stared, pausing for a moment as he watched the white parakeet splash in the water, cleaning itself. He crouched, hidded from the bird by a bush and let out a soft chirp to let his brother know he'd found it.

Sumati heard the familiar sound of his brother's call and seconds later he spotted the bird. "Well done, Bhek!" he whispered to himself with a grin before chirping back. A flash of blue and green caught his eye. Sumati barely registered it was his brother in the bush before he disappeared again.
"You're going down, birdie!" Sumati made a small step forward as he prepared for his jump.
