Nyx acts like your everyday little girl; she loves playing with her doll, reading stories, and wearing anything girlie, especially the dresses that Luna gets her. However, she also loves spending time with Shade, whether it be in the form of playing video games with him or dragging him out to the park. She's also quite fond of helping Mama around the apartment when she can.

Shade wasn’t overly fond of the cold. He was tolerant of it, yes, but that didn’t mean that he necessarily liked it. If given the choice, he would much prefer to be in the apartment which he and in mother lived in, preferably curled up in bed or playing video games. On this particular day, he was doing the former – and normally, he would’ve been quite content with that. However, there was one thing that was spoiling this normally relaxing activity for him; it was spoiling the whole thing for him, really.

Shade Flereous had caught himself a case of the flu, and a bad one at that. The teenager groaned, curling up under his blankets in an attempt to relieve his misery – unfortunately, his bedding did little to relieve his stuffed-up nose, watery eyes, achy muscles, or headache. In fact, he was fairly certain that lying down was just making it even more difficult to breathe through his damned nose!

“Mom…? Coul’ you ma’e me some sou’…?” The boy waited a few moments, but got no reply. “Mom?” It was then that he remembered that his mother was working today. ‘Of course…’ He didn’t resent her for it, – her working was what got them food, after all – but now that he thought about it, it wasn’t all that common for her to be home when he /WAS/ sick. The teenager could only recall a few times when she’d actually been home to take care of him, actually. That was the price of having only one parent in the house unfortunately, so he knew that there was no sense in whining about it.

The dark-furred impling waited a few moments longer before climbing out of bed and shuffling out into the kitchen. He let out a good three sneezes on the way there and decided that it might be a good idea to find some sort of medication while he was up making food. Hopefully, their medicine cabinet wouldn’t be as bare as their pantry currently was – they were in desperate need of groceries, and Luna wasn’t going to get paid until next week.

After doing a bit of digging, Shade managed to find himself a package of chicken noodle soup. With any luck, he’d be able to make it without turning the kitchen into a small war-zone. He wasn’t particularly known for his cooking skills, which was why he normally made instant food on the nights when his mother wasn’t home; one could do little wrong when making something as simple as pizza pops.

The impling boy felt something rubbing against the inside of his leg and looked down, pausing as he saw Gidget – his mother’s cat – purring like someone had given her a pound of catnip. “I dun’ su’ose tha’ you c’n ma’e this fo’ me, huh?” The only response Shade got was a mew from the multicolored cat. He smiled, despite how cruddy he was feeling, and knelt down to scratch the feline behind one of her ears before standing back up to dump the package’s contents into a pot of water on the stove. It was then that he decided to make that trip to the bathroom, since it would probably take a little while for the soup to finish cooking.

Unfortunately, the only medicine that was in the bathroom’s cabinet was a small container of ‘Vix’s Vapor Rub’, which Shade was rather reluctant to use. The Vaseline-like substance was sticky, and he didn’t particularly like putting it on his chest because of his fur. ‘We don’t have anything else that I can use though…and I’m getting tired of trying to breathe through my mouth…’ The boy sighed and finally slathered the cold goop on his chest, wrinkling his nose as the vapors made his eyes sting slightly. It wasn’t the most comfortable of sensations, but he could feel his nose unclogging a little, which was good. He took in a deep breath, sighing in relief when he was able to breathe with little trouble – now, if only he could do something about his damned headache. ‘Well, one of the two’s not bad…’

Then, he smelled something, like burning food. ‘s**t!’ Apparently, he /HAD/ been in there long enough for it to burn, and unfortunately, he was unable to save his meal. A scowl came over the ill impling’s features as he dumped the ruined soup into the garbage, irritated that he didn’t have anything to eat now. Perhaps he could watch some T.V to pass the time though – there had to be something interesting on. He soon found himself watching Will and Grace, wondering how exactly Will managed to keep sane in the show. The boy blinked tiredly as the fuzzy form of Gidget jumped up onto the couch and curled up next to him. At least he had /SOME/ company, though the boy would kill to have Verdant, Aoi, or some other sentient being here with him. He could only converse with the cat for so long before he got tired of just getting the occasional mew in return. 'Better than nothing though, I guess...' It was times like these that made him wish that he had a sibling or two – maybe then he wouldn't be so lonely.

Time flew by, and it wasn't long before Shade ended up falling asleep on the couch, Gidget curled up by his feet. It was hours later, at around 6:30 to be more precise, that Luna returned home from work.
“Shade? Sweetheart, I'm home.” The woman frowned when she got no reply from her son, but soon heard noises coming from the T.V. She set her bags down before heading to the living room, guessing that perhaps her son just hadn't heard her. She stopped as she spotted Shade's form curled up on the couch and moved over next to it. She knelt down next to him and stroked his hair gently before pulling the blanket he was underneath up over his shoulders. It seemed as though she'd need to go pick up some medicine for him...

I was raised like this
Luna grew up in a very strict, religious family. She was the youngest of three children (an older brother and an older sister) and while she tried very hard to please her parents, her general personality seemed to prevent her from doing this. She was often thought of as the 'bad kid' since she was quite different from her older siblings. As she grew older, she grew to like partying and decided that she eventually wanted to become a dancer.
She was fifteen when she became pregnant with Shade, and her parents insisted that she marry his father because of this. She ended up leaving him when Shade was 9 years old.

Luna has grown into a rather calm woman, despite how she was when she was younger. She rarely speaks about her ex-husband and only she and Shade are aware of the circumstances behind the divorce. She's quite devoted to her son and tries to make sure that he's happy, though she wishes that she could spend more time with him and work less. Luna rarely contacts her parents because of their rocky relationship. She seems to have an adoration for cats.
