INTRODUCTION

__~WELCOME~__

Ladies, gents, we open the doors for you tonight, to enjoy the evening and night here on the private domain of the revered DeLonghy family.

A grand castle in an exquisite blend of modern luxuries and the delicate class of the ages past, erected and kept safe throughout the Crisis, that is DeLonghy Manor. Today it is the home of Banning I, his territory, his realm. Nobody trespasses without his permission, but on this day, you all are invited here.

Discretion is advised, but he knows every single one of his invitees will cause no problems that cannot be handled here in situ. His loyal staff have all been hand-picked and were trained to accomodate the guests as well as keep a tight reign on the privacy of the mansion. Surrounded by more of his agents, Banning isn't worried about being eavesdropped on.

This Ball will be an opportunity for all to socialise freely, for potential customers to get a feel for the Duke's 'wares', for the Essentics to associate and more. His most respected partner-in-crime, miss Lecter, will also be sneaking around to catch a glimpse of her recent successes in vivo.

Excitation, wonder, all in a delightful setting, accompanied by the most delicious cookery and beverages; Banning has left no registrer unopened to accomodate his guests.

DeLonghy wishes you a most memorable night.

INTRODUCTION [courtesy of Nychii]

Quote:
Earlier that day…

Mei lugged her suitcases of equipment and one bag with her clothing for the few days she might be spending at Banning’s manor. To her surprise, the old butler didn’t rush to help her. In fact, no one did. The front steps were eerily empty except for her, something she wasn't used to. Guess they must be preparing for the event. She stood quietly on the front steps for a moment longer as she heard the truck leave behind her. It's grumbling sound disturbed the area for a moment before the bird chirps filled the atmosphere. Her own Essentic flaps his wings quietly in tune with the surrounding. The whole landscape had be finely tuned for the occasion. Every single blade of grass cut to their proper length, every branch trimmed to their proper length, every statue polished, and even the manor seemed pristine in some way. Whoever the man hired sure did a great job. Unfortunately, the only things out of place was her giant pile of stuff she managed to drag here, of course with help.

The majority of her supplies consists of Essentic testing machines. Even though each of them have their own distinct shape and appearance, they are made from the same materials. But in addition to her machines, Mei brought along a few tests that she had been working while Banning wasn't looking. After many many tries, she finally created something she could present to him, maybe for a bonus?

There were five cylindrical jars total. Each jar contained a black floating blob, indistinguishable shapes, and heavily wired. For some reason, they have a hard time escaping areas with a high concentration of electricity. Mei grinned, unlike the Essentics, made from some sort of derivation of small sunlight fragments, these creatures she collectively name Darklings, thrive in shadows. As far as she knows, they're pretty harmless.

Plunk Plunk Plunk The scientist dragged her wagon of things up a side ramp and Kyru raced to join her. Both ignorant of the fact that one of her precious test tubes had sprung a crack from the bumpy ride there.

That night...
The atmosphere was calming, more so than she had expected. She took a peek around, Kyru seemed to have made himself at home even standing further from her than he usually does. It's been ages since she's had a nice colloquial chat. Cooping herself up in her work tends to give her a new appreciation of the small things. She had excused herself from her chat and made her way to the table of food.

As she picked up a chip, Mei saw something black move from the corner of her eyes. Of course, nothing was unusual when she turned to look. Nah, just my imagination She took a chip and scooped up a spoonful of cheddar. Just as she was about to put the thing in her mouth, the shadow of the bowl transformed into a fish!

Mei was in a state of panic as she dropped what she was about to eat, leaving a mess on the floor, and hurried back to the room. The light flickered on and within seconds, four black shapes scattered leaving only the remaining shards of her containers. How could this happen? With an unsteady hand, she picked up the only container that hasn't been shattered. On the side was a hair line crack that could have happened anywhere. Unfortunately for her, the crack extended to the base and appeared to have short circuited the wires.

There was no time to waste. She had assumed these were tame and harmless but if they could crumble glass, then they must have some other sorts of abilities to reach into the physical world.

The Announcement

"Hello everyone my name is Mei Lecter, some of you may know me and my line of work. I am not here to discuss those today, in fact, I'm here to bring some unfortunate news. Please hear me out! One of my sets of experiments have escaped into this manor and I may need some help containing them. These creatures are known as Darklings and have the ability to travel between the shadow of objects but they can only stretch so much to reach their next target. I have little information on them as they are a recent invention. In fact, they've hardly hit the test stages. Although they've been pretty docile over the last week, they might have some unknown abilities so approach with extreme caution!

I you come across one, just hang onto it! They cannot pass through electric-magnetic fields, and you all are one yourself, people.

Thankfully, the mansion is well lit. The circuiting in the manor itself should prevent the creatures from escaping to the outside, which would make them almost impossible to locate. Those who succeed will be justly rewarded. I'd like everyone to split up into pairs or groups for safety sake. If one of you accidentally gets hurt, another can get help!

Take care and good luck!"

Registry on Darklings

Void is a remnant of some Source that cannot be reused to capture energy. These hard black substances are the result of the lack of light or solar energy and do not absorb, give off, or produce light.

Shadow particles are extracted from Void stones in order to revert them back into Source. When large quantities of shadow particles are pushed through an area of high current, they combine to form Darklings, little shadow creatures.

Darklings - black blob like creatures that travel through shadows of inanimate objects. These creatures often take a preferred form after stepping into a host's shadow, strangely, most of the forms resemble living creatures. They cannot pass areas of high concentration of electricity and may even get stuck to areas of high voltage. First Darklings were made by Dr. Mei Lecter.

How to play.

__~When a group of hunters gets close to a location (room) that holds a Darkling, I'll roll 2 six-sided dice (post action) and list the result and the room here in this post.
__~From that point on, anyone who is attempting to capture it and is nearby may throw 2 six-sided dice and RP an attempt to find the Darkling/ 'search' an object in the room. Declare this item in your post (like bold the word). Please only use objects that are somewhat plausible to be around (don't list a toilet when you're in the hallway).
__~Basically, you will reserve your post by making a placeholder post in which you generate the number. THEN you see if it matches the number given for the room.
__~If you match the number, post how you successfully captured it. If you didn't, RP on as normal without making a capture.
__~Each person has 5 tries per day per room to find a Darkling in.
__~When the collective total of tries for a room hits 20, the Darkling escapes into another object in the mansion (same room or other previouly visited rooms), the number is regenerated, and the count starts again.
Remember, Darklings may only transfer from object to object and they've got about the radius of 5 feet to travel from one object to another. Something that's brightly lit and doesn't appear to have a shadow may still contain a Darkling. The same goes for areas that might appear unlit.
People who aren't in the same location may travel there and try but they have 4 attempts rather than five.

Short list of procedures:
1. Groups search different parts of the house. Feel free to give your group a name if you feel like it. (Every RPer therefore needs to declare the characters' locations at the start of every post for this event.)
2. A group happens to stumble into a room with a Darkling (hallways and bathrooms count)
3. One of the staff (usually Nychii) declares the room, makes a Darkling-POV post there and rolls 2 d6. The generated number and the room will be added to this post.
4. Participants in the area may roll 2 d6 and ICly 'search' an object the Darkling might be hiding in (as mentioned, no toilets in the hallways, etc.)
5. You can't have your character search a room he/she isn't even in, that would be highly suspicious! 8°
6. If for a room the total failed attempts reaches 20, the Darkling escapes and process starts over. They may transfer to rooms already visited.
7. To capture, generate your number, see if they match, and write up your post accordingly. If numbers match, you can have your character capture the Darkling.
8. The hunt ends when all 5 has been captured.

These are first come first serve, in other words, if 2 people get the right number, only the first person wins.

Extra:
__~ There is no limit to how many of the five you can catch, but don't be greedy? :3
__~ You are allowed to give another player any Darkling you capture,if you feel like being generous <3
__~ This means that even if you only want one, you are free to keep hunting to aid another person, ya.

Basic terrain layout

User Image

Yes yesly, this place is H U G E. A vast area of gardens and greenery with springs, the main sections connected through a gravelly path that runs around the mansion. The employees and permanent workers have their homes in the back, shielded from nosy partying busybodies (mostly), and the greenhouse takes upthe other corner.
This place is nigh self-supporting and grows most of its own vegetables, fruits and flowers. The honey they serve with the tea is home-made as well. Don't get stung by the bees, for they rule surpreme over the lush flowerbeds in the central garden and the plantlife all around the terrain. Some of the springs have fish in them, from goldfish to seperate bassins with Koi and carp.

Facilities & Rooms

User Image
Doors/Entrances are marked red, staircases leading to the second floor are dark blue. Corridors are blue, rooms yellow.
Also note the scale makes NO SENSE, all I can say is that it's pretty darn huge. As a vague comparison, you could say the Pool area is large enough to fit five, six olympic baths. The corridors are narrower, but I made this for layouting only.

R = Restaurant and Ballroom. This is where your characters will be staying most of the time and where everything is happening.
V. = The Vestiaire, where you can drop off excess clothing, hur hur, as well as go and find most of the important Staff members.
S = The Pool area. The corridor leading there are the shower halls and dressing rooms, pass through if you want to go for a swim. There's pretty much everything you can think of there, from a sauna area to an olympic pool, Kneipp and chlorine free baths, aromatic bubblers etc. and yadda. If you really have to you can just take a dunk all dressed as well.
OFF LIMITS = Duh. These are Banning's private burrows, the rooms occupied by the staff, the kitchen, Lecter's room and the headquarters for the surveillance teams. Passing through the barriers will have you deported to Arabia, so don't go there. THE UPPER FLOORS ARE CONSIDERED OFF LIMITS TOO.
Rooms I through XV = Fifteen large rooms lushly decorated for all sorts of purposes. These are where the event hunts will take place.
They're named for your convenience:

I =Communication's Centre _ Phones, PCs, Mail sorting, Writing Desks, the secret service MUST be hiding here somewhere.
II = Entertainment Centre _ Second of two rooms stock full of top-notch gaming hardware and enough pcs to fuel a 128 man LAN party.
III = Meeting Room _ Layed out like a conference room, and kept sobre and dust-free. Has a cupboard full of sugar and cream.
IV = Trophy Room _ More about the War than about golf, though. How depressing.
V = Music Room _ This is where we hide the dead bodies. I mean, the piano and all other valuable instruments the DeLonghy family possesses.
VI = Supply Storage _ Those towels and wires and pillows keep coming from somewhere, you know.
VII = Lower Floor Library _ Two guesses, he first one doesn't count.
VIII = Reading Room _ Cosy chairs, a fireplace, chattering old men beyond the corner and the sweet scent of the greenhouse wafting in through the windows. What more could you ask?
IX = Maiden's Room _ Feminine Grace all over.
X = Gentlemen's Room _ Because young people need some wisdom. For high quality liquor and the finest cigars, this is the place to be!
XI = Squire's Room _ Young Male's wet dream. Swords!
XII = Chapel _ Conveniently stowed away in this centre of love for the vicar to hide in.
XIII = Herbalists's Office _ Where the honey and tea is processed, amongst things.
XIV = Mesdames Room _ Where the chaperones reside, away from those dear ol coots as well. Lace, tea, romantic novels and empty cat basketsgo here.
XV = Laundry Room (can be accessed from the Staff Quarters)

Notes:

__~Bathrooms are scattered all around, in the rooms themselves as well.
__~The four (semi-)accessible hallways are declared as Upper, Lower, Right or Left Hallway, based on the map given.

Staff intro

__~ Banning I DeLonghy ~__
You should all know this person by now ;3

__~ Timka Longway & Misha ~__
Same here, check their thread profiles or Journal for more info! :3
For this occasion, both have dressed up a little bit :° Isn't our bun-buns one handsome pain-in-the-bum with that tie ~<3
And Miss Longway in a dress, no less!

__~ Mei Lecter & Kyru ~__
Ohoho, our ever-busy recluse scientist and her personal bodyguard, the Combat Essentic Kyru finally made an appearance on the deck! I mean, with the other staff members. It may be noteworthy to add Longway never met her either.

__~ Jonathan ~__
The manor's male head-of-staff, governs the kitchen and restaurant staff and the gardener units as well as the larger coordination of the event. Just look for a slight, confident man with auburn hair scuppering around if you need directions to a directions board or have other questions about the mansion's operations. He won't just tell everything though.
This man has been aware of his master's louche business ever since Life Essentials officially opened, and has done an exquisite job keeping discrete about the matter. He also is held in high esteem with the surveillance and security team, so if you have any complaints about those, just go and whine to Nathan.

__~ Madame Magdala ~__
The female head-of-staff, head nurse and firm-willed coordinator of the housemaids. A stout elderly woman why takes no fuss from nobody, not even our poor duke, but she has a heart of gold.
She has only very recently been informed of her master's illegal activities, and has proven herself to be a trustworthy woman worth her own (none too mediocre- weight in gold to Banning. Able to keep secrets very well, she places her trust in the duke in return and hopes there won't be any problems. If you have any immediate medical issues or accidently smashed a pot-plant, she's the one to seek out.

__~ Other Staff members ~__
Be they the cooks, the housemaids, gardeners, butlers or security agents, they all devolve into one huge amount of people bustling around on the mansion grounds. Feel free to use these peeps in your posts and have them act as they should.

Locations: Entrance Hall => Manor gates ((Banning)); Restaurant => Vestiaire ((Misha & Longway))

Five going on six going on seven. Post Meridiem, that is. Seven on the clock.

The gates were opened, the Staff was ready, and the special forces were stationed all around the domain, nice and cosy and alert. They could be counted on, and the Duke knew they could be trusted. He'd worked with these people for years, after all.

Events like these weren't such a strange occurrence here on the domain. To keep the 'neighbours' from complaining and the far relatives from nosing around, the duke still hosted a grand-scale party about every two years, had done so on his own ever since his revered parents had passed on. This would be the first time people from the 'lower districts' and beyond would be invited in, though. Oh, how the neighbours would talk -said neighbours lived half a mile away from the edge of his domain, but they still considered each other next-doorers. Not without a hint of a smug smile did Banning think about how much fun he would have talking them down after all of this was over, if they even dared to openly question him.

~

Right now, the noble had other things on his mind though. The hectic last hours before the gates opened -they had been 'open' since noon, but no matter-, the rush hour, that healthy stress and excitation, all that made the silent manor come to life with a burst of adrenalin. In a melancholic moment, Banning had felt quite connected to the old, regal building, as if they shared that surge of energy. I would have their gears oiled and the spirit awakened so they could both do an excellent job on managing yet another quite large group of people intruding.

Let's do this hmm...

He almost fondly patted the railing of one of the two grand staircases as he languidly descended, speaking an encouraging word to the manor in his head.

The gates were open, the terrain is accessible, those who wished to come were now allowed to enter. 't Would be quite a cosy little party, not at all like the troublesome feasts that were held amongst the roughly threehundred local nobles regularly. To welcome his guests, he strode outside through the glass doors -they served their duty well to keep the entrance hall airily sunlit during the day- and headed out onto the gravel driveway.

Why not go and take a stroll to the gate and back, five minutes to get there and five minutes back, if he kept up his tempo? Yes, he'd do that.

~

Elsewhere entirely, standing a little lost in the dining room amongst the bustling servants and butlers, miss Longway and her Essentic were trying to keep their anxiety low and their spirits up.

Misha was more than eager today. The only reason why he wasn't gibbering about how he might get to see his siblings today and their owners, was that he'd spent the last two days snooping around the mansion, exhausting his nervous energy on his all-consuming curiosity. Now he was wibbling from his heels to his toes, back and forth, with a giddy smile. He had his ears raised slightly, poised for any sort of noise, voices he might recognise, or better even, the Essence-resonance that would alert him of his brethren approaching. The fact his 'first mother' was around only heightened his state of excitation, even if he hadn't found her in this huge building yet. They just kept missing each other!

His enthusiasm wasn't entirely shared by his Owner, who currently felt much like a dressed up doll in her quite elegant dress. So, right, there was NO dress code, but her sense of proper conduct had sent her scurrying to the shops to find something more flattering than her work outfit. No tie today, Timka. Currently she was keeping herself distracted by wandering around, a wibbling Misha half in tow, until she decided to head towards the vestiaire to lay in ambush there. The Alter followed her, humming along to the sweet-gentle melody thrumming through almost the entire manor.
You betcha the surveillance team was pumped up on mainstream hard rock though, in their own quarters.

~

Undoubtedly, this would become an interesting night. Things were abound they weren't even aware of yet, luckily tied back by the local EMP stations and electrical fields that continuously warded DeLonghy manor from any sort of hostile eavesdroppers.

The sun was on her slow descent, as if she had never once refused Drente the warmth of her rays, as Banning was headed to the front gates, and Longway and Misha snuck into the lobby.

Let the games begin.

Locations: Surveillance Room, off limits area

Although it's not her first ball, it's definitely one of the grander ones which meant she couldn't refuse to wear at least a modest dress for the occasion even if there was no dress code. Unlike her partner, the young scientist decided to sit out during the whole greeting process. It wasn't in her personality to stand around and smile like a bumbling fool while people walked in. Instead, Mei sat quietly in the off limits area with the surveillance team watching and waiting like a predator ready to pounce on its prey. It will be her first time seeing majority of the new protos and their owners. Excitement was apparent and brimming on her dainty face.

While Mei fiddled with a loose strand of silver hair, her little proto, Kyru, sat on his own chair and shredding it happily like a cat who found a new toy. Banning's surveillance team sat there watching the little dragon uneasily rather than on the screen. His owner was a bit preoccupied to pay him any heed and she was second in command at the ball so they couldn't quite put a word against it if she wasn't about to do anything. All they could do was sit and watch.

A green-garbed man approached the impressive DeLonghy estate, a large pot [with handle] full of what appeared to be purple, massive-petaled Geraniums in tow. Elst, having received the invitation a few days earlier, was still, obviously, cloaked in mossy hues, but of a different style of clothing. He’d quickly realized his usual ensemble wouldn’t do for such an event, or, more aptly said, Aoi, who’d picked up some strange realization of fashion faux pas from God knows who, had told him so. He now wore a long, jade cotton-silk suit-style jacket, paired with a matching pair of formal slacks, both embroidered with a simple leafy vine design in a shade of verdigris. Underneath was a dark-lichen collared shirt, accompanied with a long silk tie of another smoky hue of green. On his feet, a nondescript pair of smooth brown leather dress shoes. Along with his collection of books, this outfit was one of Elst’s scarce luxuries, purchased due to the fact that he received it for next to nothing, instead paying for it by designing a monumental floral arrangement for the entire cathedral when a customer, a tailor, had his third marriage. Nursery ownership didn’t come without its perks.

Had Elst walked this entire way? Yes. Strange? Yes. Was the fact that he was carrying a large pot of massive purple Geraniums odd? Nah. The pot itself, actually, carried something a bit stranger; Elst couldn’t exactly carry Aoi covertly in his current clothing, so within the jubilee of matching violet flowers he hid.

As he approached the manor gates, Elst’s eyes fell upon the lush foliage that seemed to decorate everything in sight, next wandering to the lone figure standing there. Or, more accurately, strolling towards the gate. Banning had decided to take a walk, it seemed. What lovely timing…

“Ah, Master DeLonghy, delightful to see you again. And nothing seems to have gone wrong since our last meeting, no mishaps with Aoi or anything… Aoi? The pot whose handle he held in his left hand, moved slightly, the Geraniums rustling as Aoi climbed out. The soil, having been given a top coating of crushed quartz, did not dirty his feet.

Calloused fingertips skimmed lightly over an expensive burgundy silk tie, Eli still wasn't sure why he'd allowed himself to accept the invitation to this moonlight ball thing. The man was passably decent at socializing but he'd never been good with really formal occasions, or even the semi formal dances his high school had held. Not to mention that he always felt awkward in formal wear, as if he was just a nameless being in one of many nearly identical suits. Still this wasn't exactly the type of opportunity that came around often and it was probably not in Eli's best interest to pass it up

The auburn haired man looked over at his companion as the pair made their way up the remaining road before the gates, feet and paws both moving at a brisk pace. Eli's dark green eyes noted that Kell seemed fairly calm and contained which was good, the old dark furred canine had seemed prone to random outbursts in the last few weeks. Still, Eli wouldn't have brought him along if he didn't trust the dog to behave tonight, this was neither the time nor place for any antics. He supposed it didn't hurt that Kell had practically worn himself out earlier trying to avoid Eli's father catching him for a bath. Well that and a long fight to get the dog to wear a simple dark orange bandanna.

Both man and dog were startled when they saw a strange plant creature hop out of a pot of some type of purple flowers, not quite what they'd expected to see right off the bat , even if the man holding the flowers had green plant like skin himself.

Eager to investigate, especially since he was unable to hear if the other was talking Eli lengthened his strides to cover more ground as he walked towards the gates, Kell still mostly calm and faithfully staying by his side.

Ellandra wrinkled her nose as she adjusted her flowy, pastel-colored skirts for the fifth time. Why had she decided to be proper and dress up for this ball, again? She could just as easily have come in more comfortable attire, after all. Oh, well. At least this gown wasn't like the red one - it zipped comfortably up the back instead of having hundreds of tiny buttons to fasten. Strangely enough, she was looking forward to this ball, not because she liked the idea of a high-class party (far from it, parties meant people and people were frightening), but because of who would be here - she had no doubts in her mind that at the very least, Misha would be, and she was eager for another chance to see her first friend/semi-adopted brother.

She took another step forward toward the gates of the manor - it didn't impress her any more this time than it had the last time she'd been here; maybe she just wasn't easily awed? - and tripped, bemoaning the fact that she'd actually dared to wear heels (albeit low ones) to this thing. She was short, there was no reason to try and increase her height through artificial means! But the carnival girls had been persuasive - she was something of a dress-up doll for them, she just knew it. At least she had avoided being wrangled into what the burlesque girls had tried to talk her into - though that was safely stored away in a secret place; she'd wear it sometime, in private with her husband.

Swallowing, she looked up at the gates ahead. "Well, here goes being social," she murmured to herself, hoping she could make it through the ball without fainting.

Faolan followed after his wife only a few steps behind, looking up at the large house. He suddenly felt very intimidated and out of his element. Drinking with clowns and dancing the nights away to loud music with the carnival residents were entertainments much more suited to the young fortune teller, not the fancy dress-up parties of socialites. Still, he'd been invited by Banning and did want a chance to see fellow Essentic-owners and introduce them to his beautiful new wife.

She'd talked him into wearing something nice, too. Well, nice for him. He really didn't own fancy clothes that wasn't for performing and those costumes wouldn't have been appropriate, really. So, here he was, dressed in nice jeans and a button-down white brushed cotton shirt (tucked into his jeans, of course), a brown leather belt with a few gold studs decorating it wound around his narrow waist. He fidgeted a bit with the length of red ribbon tied about his left wrist, looking at Ellandra for a little help in how to deal with all the fancy.

Zia followed along behind them, still getting a bit used to walking on its own feet rather than flying or being carried about. A few tarot cards flittered down from its wings hidden under the hooded cloak Fao had dressed it in as it walked, marking a slight trail. Peering up from under the folds of its hood, it watched others move around it, owners and Essentics and new people; some he knew and others he didn't.

Dorian smiled to himself softly as he came upon the gates of the DeLonghy estate, thinking very much to himself that it resembled his grandfather's own manor. Very stuffy, imposing, and all around peaceful and boring. Good thing Dorian was here to remedy that. As per usual, he couldn't come in a tux or some other buisness suit like most normal men, no....he had instead vouched for his snow white long coat with the gold trim, and ruffly sleeve ends, some more suitable onyx tux pants that were pressed superbly by the poor little chinese woman down the street at the laundrymat who kept cursing his 'exact specifications' under her breath and told him many times in another language where he could shove them. Underneath the jacket lay a matching vest, and above that was his silky black tie that had a garnet placed directly in the center line, so as to sparkle better and grab more attention to itself. But the part of his outfit that Dorian was MOST excited about were his new boots. Knee-high white leather beauties that ended with a stiletto heel and made the most refreshing 'clic-klak' sound when you walked. He worshiped these boots. It had taken him FOREVER to get them, as there was an incredibly long waiting list at the Trashy Diva, a semi-well known crossdressing emporium.

It was a marvel of the human mind, really. To have them figure out how to make stilletto boots strong enough to support a man while still looking dainty and cute. He looked quite the gentleman tonight, but looking beside him, he had to admit the little toaster looked cute too. He'd dressed Claudia in a matching, frilly little snow white outfit full of tule and other gauzy little materials that made her look like a walking six-year-old ball of puff. Her sash and bow was a deep onyx, to match the tie he wore, and she had a garnet barette in her hair while Dorian let most of his down tonight. He'd tied up a little in the back with a black ribbon, but most of it had fallen to the sides pleasantly. He had the rock thingy in the pocket of his trousers, liking to keep it close for some reason. Putting his hand at the back of Claudia's head, he motioned for her to keep going as they approached people.

She was quiet, as ever, and just looked up at her 'father' with ultimate devotion. Much like a puppy, really. Well okay, he had to admit he KINDA liked the walking home appliance, since she was one of his only sources of physical contact and company. Looking to the group of people that had gathered outside, he raised an eyebrow with piqued interest. Best way to cause a ruckus was to be around people, right? Taking Claudia over, he smiled at the green-clad man and the man who owned this estate.

"Hello there boys. Wonderful evening, don't you think? Eh? So THIS is what they look like when they get bigger?" Dorian smiled, inclining his head into a bow to greet the pair, but got distracted by Aoi peeking out of his geraniums. Claudia reached out to tickle the little plant-like creature and smiled at it like any normal child would. Dorian really wondered sometimes if he should install a more advanced AI system in her, but he banished the thought for right now. It was time to party, not plot the extentions he had in mind for little Claudia. She'd been six for the past seven years now, she'd be okay with a few more years not knowing she wasn't going to age. Nonetheless, little Claudia looked up to the man in green carrying said living plant and smiled, cocking her head as her pretty little golden curls fell to one side.

"Sir? What's her name? She's so pretty....is Papa's little rock going to be pretty too?" she asked airily, and Dorian let the 'Papa' comment slide as per usual. He'd just gotten used to it, even if he called her a toaster, it was usually affectionately.

Ho, ho, there they were already. The timing couldn't have been better, and Banning was thrust inbto a surge of good mood right away.

Ah, Elst. Long time no see, indeed. How socialble he was being again, it mzade the duke smile. He did take a step backwards when Aoi popped out, quite unafraid by the looks of it. Right away the floral Proto attracted the attention of another of his guests, doctor Cromwell and his treasured research subject-slash-adoptive daughter. Aoi's appearance made him tilt his head slightly and crack a faint smile, but more indepth observations would have to follow later.

"Be welcome, Elst, doctor. It's a true pleasure to meet you, and meet again." he greeted them, spying Faolan and Ellandra out as they approached. Casting aside proper reserved conduct, he leaned aside and waved at them, beckoning them over.

"I suggest moving onto the terrain, only there you will be completely safe from any prying eyes." he gestured for all to come in. "My assistants are waiting in the entrance hall, or that's where they SHOULD be right now."

It seemed clear he would wait here by the gates to shunt any other new arrivals further through.

Today had been complete and utter chaos. Dreamer was not used to taking care of herself, her dress was in late for cleaning and pressing, she burnt her breakfast because she was on the phone and to top it all off, she'd been late to pick up her dress. Thankfully, now as she twirled in front of her full length mirror and examine her figure, she was quite pleased with herself. The dress shes picked was a black mermaid dress with a sweetheart neckline and halter style straps. The bodice was fitted and curve-hugging down to just above the knees where the mermaid skirt flared out just enough. Dreamer had picked black heels and diamond dangly earrings, it was perfect because her hair was up and, one could probably notice the slight point of her ears now. As simple as her hair was, Dreamer had spent a few hours on it, tugging all her hair into a neat yet messy bun. The natural curl her hair had just added to the look as if gave it a slight wave. As per what she did with her makeup, something to enhance her eyes. A smoky look for her eyes with a light red gloss for her lips, the kind that usually left a mark if she kissed anyone. She usually only used it when she didn't have to, leaving lipstick marks on people was quite rude, not to mention with the jealously some female had these days, it could be mistaken for something else. She also dashed a bit of pink on her cheek bones, and had almost wanted to hide her wings with some type of makeup. Though she'd decided to leave the tattoo's there for now.
" Well this is it. " She said with a smile.

Almost as if she were gliding across the floor, Dreamer exited her closet and, swept her clutch off her bed as she exited to go to the front. A sad feeling sunk in as she reached her door, George always walked her out, he always wished her a good night. Feeling her eyes water up Dreamer fanned them and blinked quickly.
Make up, careful with the makeup! She told herself, she didn't want to ruin the make up or she'd surely be late. Opening the door Dreamer glanced down the hall, she wasn't looking for anyone, she just didn't want any of the other nobles stopping her to ask where she was going. She'd managed to store her wings neatly this time, though they now marked her back with a silver, smaller version of her foggy wings. This too, she didn't want to have to explain, but it was the only way she could properly manage them. When she reached her elevator though, it was a different story. There were two people, both elderly who watched her with a scrutinizing eye; needless to say it was a very awkward elevator ride and Dreamer almost ran out when they reached the bottom floor. George had always taken care of calling a carriage for her, she didn't walk anywhere unless she was working out, and even then dancing gave her all the exercise she needed. Dreamer stopped dead in her tracks when she finally remembered she'd never called for a taxi in the first place. Oh my god... Her mouth dropped, and she face palmed herself. Taking a deep breath Dreamer glanced around, people had noticed the girl with red hair in a pretty dress, they'd almost noticed she seemed quite shock someone wasn't here. Oh for the love of... Dreamer swore silently, hicking up her dress she started walking around the block.

" There has to be a carriage somewhere. "

And indeed she found one, though she'd had to walk into a poorer section of the upper class districts and, the man was rude; she had found one. " The Banning manor please. " Paying him she seated herself and took a deep breath, relaxing her feet and trying not to notice how the horse was exerting a very unhealthy smell. The ride to the mansion was almost uneventful, that driver didn't talk to her and evaded any attempted she made at making conversation. George had called her, wondering how were things going. She usually called him about ten times a day and now that she hadn't called him, he had been a little worried on her whereabouts and, how she was going on her own. As the large green terrain of the Banning mansion came into view, her excitement grew. She'd never had a chance at meeting the duke, then again rarely did anyone meet him. When the carriage stopped, dreamer waited for the driver to help her out of the carriage; something that never happened. So, she helped her self out, she was already on a I-can-do-it-alone streak, she may as well add this to her list of experiences. Once out, Dreamer straightened herself out and lifted her chin, a soft shy smile settled on her lips as she fixed her dress. She wondered who was going to be at the party, she's subtly asked around and no one she knew had been invited; which she considered weird. her expression almost dropped when she thought about that day in the office. She hoped this wasn't a hoax to confront her about that day, that would just be awkward. Dreamer tended to cheat when she walked, she always seemed to so fluidly move, when in reality she was used to her wings supported some of her weight to make it easier to float. " Duke Banning. " She said politely, inclining her head slightly in greeting.
