"So, to calculate the amount of interest you'd make, you have to multiple your percentage by..." For the millionth time that morning, Shade felt himself dozing off. He hated school on a regular basis, but math was a subject that he particularly disliked. The boy had a hard time memorizing all the equations, and the fact that it was so boring didn't help either. In fact, the only reason that he /HADN'T/ fallen asleep yet was the fact that Mrs. Johnson would probably call him mother if he did - apparently, the teacher was getting a might bit fed up with him taking naps in the middle of her class. However, Shade was quickly losing the battle to keep his eyes open, and he began drifting off again, his cheek propped up on his hand. The fact that he'd stayed up all night playing W.o.W probably wasn't helping his case either, really - he'd /REALLY/ wanted to get his blood-elf ranger to level 70 before going to bed though! He probably would've gotten even higher if his mother hadn't caught him at about 3:00am and ordered him to bed. Needless to say, she hadn't been too pleased with him.
He was almost completely in dream land when he felt something rock his desk. The impling immediately jolted awake with a slight gasp and looked down with wide eyes - what he saw was even more surprising than the initial shock of being woken up had been. There, peeking out from the space in his desk, was a small, human-like being, whom was no larger than a doll - his spark was gone, and it only took him a few seconds to realize what had happened. 'Oh...crap...'
"Mr. Flereous!" Shade sat up straight, only noticing now that everyone, including the teacher, was staring at him. Apparently, his little desk explosion hadn't gone unnoticed. "What in the world did you just do?!" s**t, s**t, /s**t/, what now?! He couldn't let any of them see Nyx! He had to get out of here and go somewhere safe with it!
"I-I...w-well..." He wracked his brain for an excuse - in the end, he could only come up with one things to do. "I-HAVE-AN-APPOINTMENT-SORRY-BYE!" The boy quickly snatched up his bag, as well as Nyx, before bolting from the classroom, ignoring the yelling and protests that came from Mrs. Johnson as he fled the room. Now what?! He couldn't go walking around outside with Nyx! If someone saw it, they'd freak! Again, he found himself searching his mind for something, /ANYTHING/ to do. It was then that he remembered that Dorian had told him to call if he ever needed anything.
Now he just needed to find a phone. Recalling that most of the classrooms had one in them in case of emergencies, Shade quickly made his way to a computer lab that he knew was normally deserted and ducked behind a desk at the front. He quickly dialed the number that the doctor had given him and took a deep breath, waiting for him to pick up. "D-Dorian? I-It's me, S-Shade. I...I-I need s-some help..."

Dorian yawned. Despite how late in the morning it was, he'd just gotten up about a half hour ago. His hair was now wet and slicked back from his hot shower, and he could smell Marius making coffee in the front room. As he passed her room, he peeked in sadly to check on Claudia while she rebooted for the day. She'd had another crash last night, and it would take all day for her to be fixed. But as he was musing these things in his half-sleep, the phone started ringing. Before he could get to it, Marius answered and rushed out to him, tripping over the carpet once but regaining his balance a little.
"Master, young Master Shade seems distressed. This one thinks he may be in some major trouble," the Alter relayed, after hearing Shade's distressed plea for Dorian. It hadn't been the doctor that had picked up the phone, but it was good enough. Dorian panicked. When Verdant wasn't around, he thought of Shade as in HIS care rather than his mothers or the schools. He'd even gone as far as asking one of the health team from work to take on a side job as the school nurse just so he could check on how Shade was doing. Swiping the phone from Marius, whom stayed close by, wringing all four of his hands on his shirt but being careful not to accidentally tear this one apart.
"Shade! Shade?! Are you alright? Did you get in a fight?! Do you need to go to the hospital?! Oh god, tell me you didn't skip school and wander into the seedy part of town!!!! Where are you!?! I'm coming to get you immediately!" he flailed, his panic and natural tendency to jump to the worst possible conclusions blazing through the phone lines. Marius frowned, looking on hopefully, and scurried off into the kitchen to make something wholesome for Master Shade to come home to. A good hot meal would suffice to calm both him and Dorian down, he figured.
Somehow keeping the phone perched on his shoulder while he ran to the back and slipped his clothes on, Dorian never let it sit down for more than a second. He wasn't really dressed for the weather, sliding on a pair of jeans, boots, and a regular black dress shirt. Running back out to the front to find Marius already waiting with his black fox fur coat, he slipped his arms through and gave a nod to the worried Alter before pausing at the doorway to figure out where Shade was.

Shade blinked as he heard a voice other than Dorian's on the phone for a moment - he guessed that it was Marius, from the sound of it. The boy fidgeted for a few moments, but found that it wasn't long before he heard Dorian on the other end.
"N-No, I'm not h-hurt." His mother would flip if he ever tried something like that, and he knew it! And there wasn't much point in him even trying to pick fights with other kids; most of them were bigger than him, what with him standing at his mere 4'4". He was small, even for someone of his species really. The boy was watching the little proto that was sitting in his lap - of all the times to have it emerge, why did it have to be during his 2nd period class?! "I'm a-at s-school, in the B-216 c-computer lab. N-Nyx...it c-came out of its s-spark while I was in c-class!" He just hoped that no one had managed to spot the essentic while he'd been taking off. "I-I had the s-spark in my d-desk, a-and..." He let the sentence trail off, figuring that Dorian would be able to figure out the rest. He would've left Nyx at home, but he hadn't wanted it to come out while he'd been at school!
Now he kind of wished that he /HAD/ - at least the proto would've been safe at the apartment with their cat, Gidget.
