A Surprising thing in Common A Flock Member giveaway Start: NOW End: June 1st 11:59.59PM PST
This contest is only for those who wish to actively join The Flock
Be sure to Study the Flock Before entering. If you have any questions or simply want to keep up todate with Flock events, Please join The Flock Discord
Rules
You may fill out your form as time goes on, but be sure to some the rough info (your username, the characters name, some rough bullet points for the character, why you want to join the flock, and whether or not you own any flock members already) in before you submit: It's okay if it changes over time but there's nothing more frustrating for someone running a contest having a blank form saying "will fill out later" not knowing if it'll ever even have a rough idea ever submitted. Lol You MAY enter if you own a member of the Flock already, though Flock Newbies and those who only own Male members will be given preference in the event of tiebreakers. If you don't have some RP examples to link to where I can get them, You can do a solo short RP just showing a moment in the life of them: Feel free to make up NPC flock members for them to bounce off of! OR you can copy down a quick DM RP of the character you did with a friend who owns a flock member already. If you have a question feel free to ask here or on Discord! Just give me a Quote or a DM. If you feel uncomfortable asking publicly and don't have Discord, you can fling a PM at me as well. They MUST be, at least in this entry, plotted to be a member of the Flock: As a mare, as long as they are Cisgendered, they can venture away from the flock and not be considered abandoning it as long as they keep in contact and continue to claim loyalty and visit regularly: Some scouts and messengers are gone for months at a time, especially if they're scouting out for exotic materials. These individuals tend to have flying familiars who report back to the Flock for them, so if you want one to go out and see the world faaaaar beyond their territory, just make them a scout!

Parents
A physical therapist and preventative treatment specialist (mostly giving massages, chiropractic care, and some general relaxation to help prevent injuries from physical strain or tension in the first place.), Gersemi is a respected member of the Flock but also incredibly busy, to the point where it's hard for her to keep a Girlfriend. After years of being unable to hold onto a relationship and focusing on her work to the point of nearly stressing herself to the point where she'd need her own treatments, it was suggested that perhaps she slow down a little and take a little less time on her work and allow her assistants to help out more. However, she's the sort who needs something to focus on.
Thankfully, she does love children and had been hoping for kids for a while. So she approached the Sacred Mothers for aid: She had no interest in stallions, and most whistlers were a bit too forward and, since most of the mares interested in kids were interested in them where far too suggestive and thus turned her off from interviewing them, so the Sacred Mothers arrranged for some of their finest and most respectful stallions to first parade for appearances to insure their aesthetics would increase the possibility for attractive children with appealing traits, and then once the ones who looked like they'd produce well were selected, they'd inform them of Gersemi's sexuality and repulsion to the opposite sex so they'd be fully respectful, and then allow for interviews, stating their skills, credentials, and recommendations from other mares to Gersemi to narrow further before there were one on one interviews as potential sires for her Children.
Cerynitis was the third to be interviewed, after two previously stilted and somewhat awkward conversations with some of the stallions before him, Gersemi first choosing a few of the stallions with Unicorn or Kirin horns to interview to potentially produce healers and having them be prideful and boasting of their prowess, and Gersemi found herself relaxed and laughing within the first few minutes and enjoying an earnest conversation, suddenly understanding why the Sacred maidens highly recommended this stallion in particular.
Unbeknownst to Cerynitis at the time, he was to be the first permanent Sacred Sire trained in the flock due to his way of disarming his guests and making them relax, acting as a sort of therapist himself, befriending the mares he took on, giving them quiet and respectful device, and honestly and fully listening to them, on top of his 'standard' Whistler skills. His greatest strength was that he actually listens and remembers, disarming and allowing mares to relax. He discussed ways to approach the sacred maidens area that would result in encountering fewer of the immature Whistlers and find the more respectful and understanding members and thus how to enter the Sacred Maidens territory without getting strutted at: where the gay and more paternally inclined whistlers wanting to show they could be good role-models hung out rather than the young bucks just looking for ladies looking for a "Good time". The two bonded over their surprisingly similar professions of getting others to relax, and did some networking to plan for services to help improve both sides: hiring some of her masseuses and assistants to come to the parties he sometimes hosted to help guests, or helping assign whistlers or Sacred Daughters to help with other types of stress from her clients.
He quickly made the top of her shortlist of potential sires, as well as became a friend. And she was thrilled when she found out that she was pregnant, and made sure that he was, as he trained for his Sacred Sire title, able to spend some time being a male role-model for his children.
TL : DR Mom name: Gersemi About: A physical therapist for the flock who runs a small spa. Proud Lesbian. Name is Scandinavian, meaning "Jewel"
Dad Name: Cerynitis About: Charming and honest Whistler turned Sacred Sire. Straight. Name is Greek in Origin, the one of the names of the Ceryneian Hind, or Golden Hind
Other family members
Piblings
Owner: Mindsend Name: Peryton About: The Twin brother of Cerynitis. Unlike his brother, he doesn't take the spiritual side of being a Whistler stallion very seriously, being more along the lines of what Gersemi doesn't care for. However, after his brother, whom he's spent his entire life sharing everything, finds himself suddenly alone and realizing that perhaps being out just for some fun with mares, stallions, and other pretty ponies isn't exactly the best way to live his life. Is trying to take his job more seriously, and has been splitting his time more evenly between being a Whistler and perfecting his skill in Brewing, trying desperately to follow his Brother's lead.
Named after a Made up creature with the front quarters of a deer and the hind end and wings of a bird, said to have lived in Atlantis. Pansexual.
Siblings
Owner: Mindsend Name: Xylia About: Learning of how she and her siblings came to be, as The Flock has some Atypical ways for allowing for children, Xylia became fascinated with the Sacred Motherhood, and enters training as a Sacred Daughter so she can learn how to be a Midwife, fertility specialist, and learn the magics known by the Sacred Maidens.
However, as a Sacred Daughter she's discovered she enjoys the chemistry in creating Breeding and Preservation Baskets and enjoys experimenting with dosages to find the right mix to allow things to thrive within the grassy confines of the tightly woven bags, to try and extend the shelf life of things within, in the case of truly premature infants so they can spend more time in the basket developing to a healthy foal state, or for foods to remain fresh or continue to grow and ripen within, or for prepared foods such as bread to continue to remain fresh, uses beyond that of the Sacred Motherhood. While still a Sacred Daughter, it seems she may potentially end up following a different but related path.
Xylia is Greek for "From the woods". Is Pansexual like her Uncle.
Owner: ArashiX Name: ??? About: Not much currently known about this boy: he's likely to end up A Whistler much like his dad.
Friends of the Family
Gersemi's Spa team will be helping keep her practice running, and assist in raising the kids. This consists currently (out of the existing members), of Bellini the River otter and main assistant who helps keep everything running, Skadi the Bobcat one of her best masseuses, Lotus and Pond, Twin Racoon sisters who deal in Aromatherapy, guided meditation for relaxation and destressing, Acupuncture and Acupressure respectively.
Cerynitis is also close friends with Taarab, head founder of the Artisan guild. Since his Head protector is the Oracle, he's pretty much welcome around most mares kids as a teacher, and he frequents the school as an instructor for introducing foals to crafts. He's a Familiar sight to many a member of the Flock.
The Flock
The Flock is a currently Semi-Closed off herd with a strong Matriarchal Lean: Females rule the roost and Males are considered weaker of will and more prone to endangering themselves and thus kept under observation, and in the heart of the society hold no rank and cannot leave the boarders, unlike the mares, or communicate with outsiders. Outsider Non-walker males that are not from the Neighboring herds (Such as the the WillowGlen and Vitterfolk herds to the west of the river or the Treebacked herd said to live to their East.) that venture within the protected but 'open' territories can be captured if spotted unless escorted by a female for his own protection (and potential good traits) And ANY outsider male going beyond the private territory boundary will be captured and evaluated for health and whether or not they'd thrive in The Flock before eventually allowing them to "escape" or escorted out should they not be mentally fit for the flock, or medically treated for their illnesses/injuries and then tested for their fit.
Some mares, including the Current Queen take this as males are inferior, and their only purpose is to sire offspring or benefit the Flock in some other form such as skills or comfort. Others see them as things to protect and just 'silly and generally frivolous creatures' , as if they were a different, precious, but somewhat fragile species. Others still see them as the opposite side of a coin: More prone to impulses that lead them to causing trouble, but strong in creative pursuits.
Males aren't expected to do much but enjoy life under the protection of mares, and not act out, so can often follow different pursuits of whatever interests them as long as it's within the confines of the Flock and guarded: The Current Artisan, Farming, and many other smaller Guilds were founded by Males who wished to enrich The Flock with their free time rather than just laze around or play all day. Females however are all trained in how to hunt, scavange and fight, and expected to keep at least minor knowledge and skill in all three traits even should they pursue skills that are unrelated, such as professional dancers, cooks, weavers, priestesses or any pursuit, as they are expected to protect The Flock and provide for it should times fall hard.
But currently The Flock is experiencing a Golden Age of Plenty, over a two decades since they left their ancestral lands and entered the Giant Oak Grove, they're a well established and thriving civilization... But still mostly a mystery to those outside due to the Current Queen's xenophobia, the only trade outside of the Flock done in secret.

Name of Child in Basket: Sarakyla Username: LydaLynn
Name: Sarakyla Temper: Patient Gender: Female
About Child: Sarakyla loves beautiful things. Most especially dancing and music. But though she tried to join in dancing, she wasn't able to keep up. Her heart would race and skip a few beats, leaving her panting and sick on the ground. As did any exertion. She moves with a delicate, slow grace, but can't join in the glorious dances. And her voice is breathy and quiet, lovely in a still and silent surrounding but not musician quality.
This left her struggling for a place in the flock. She wasn't strong enough to be a guard, huntress or even forager. She felt no calling of spirituality. And being around most foals just made her tired. And though she admires her parents for their calling of healing, she wasn't able to connect with others in a way that would allow for therapeutic healing.
She spent a lot of time with the artisans, learning to make thing and enjoyed the creative outlet it offered. But it wasn't until she spent time with the gardeners that she found her calling.
Sarakyla loved the flowers, the quiet beauty and delicate fragrances. She worked some trying to create new tea blends that were as much about smell as taste before she found it was really the fragrance that most called to her. Some of her teas were truly undrinkable but smelled amazing and were sought after to brew at gatherings just for the scent.
So she started working on ways to make her fragrances more useful. She started creating perfumes and oils. And artfully worked pendants that could carry scent sachets. And, she soon found that sometimes the right scent could be soothing or invigorating. Her work being able to add just a little bit extra to her mother's massage treatments, her sister's basket work, or even for father in helping create the right mood for his guests.
Sarakyla still loves music and dancing, but she's found what she has to offer, giving generously of her creations, happy to have something beautiful to share with the flock or for trade.
Plots: Heart and Soul. The day Sarakyla accepts her body can't take her where her heart and soul want to go is a difficult one. But she isn't alone.
My Sister, My Friend. Sarakyla loves her sister and admires the focus and drive that calls her to not only do something, but to help others. Sarakyla confides how lost she feels in not knowing her place in the flock. Her sister somehow says just the right thing, making that relationship more than just family, but truest of friends.
The Language of Flowers. Sarakyla has been looking for a place to belong, when she's introduced to the gardens and the beauty and wonder of growing stunning flowers. At first she's overwhelmed by it all, but after finding a cool place to rest, she closes her eyes and the wonder really beings. The scents fill the emptiness she hadn't quite known was there.
Got the Scent Now. She was never going to be traditional, but Sarakyla found her way to belong and contribute. Her first tries are hit or miss, but soon she is on the right path, and sharing her skills with the flock.
Delicate Flower. Wandering farther than she had intended while looking for new flowers, Sarakyla meets someone not of the flock. She'd always been protected and the encounter alone has her heart racing. Will the stranger lend her a hand, abandon her in her need, or be a threat?
Any Additional Info: Sarakyla has arrhythmia and a weak heart, she's fine as long as she stays calm and doesn't exert herself. She enjoys the friendship of the more gentle members of the flock and those with a creative passion, both female and male, though she has a harder time connecting with those who are more naturally fighters. She has never really wondered what life outside the flock was like, having everything she needs and loves here.
RP Examples: [PRP] Autumn Pheonix and Latcho Churi [PRP] The Next Big Adventure (Tirla and Vatsa) [PRP] A Tisket, A Tasket, A New Little Basket?! [PRP] Kindred Spirits [Invictus & Pele'] Swept Away [PRP] -- Pele and Maion [PRP] O'er mountains we wander [Biddulphia & Francesca]
Do you own any Members of the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: No, but I do have mock breeding permission for Gersemi and Cerynitis from Whistle while you Dance.
Why do you want to Join the Flock/want another flock member?: I love to role play but I have a difficult time reaching out to people to start something. I've watched the Flock, loving how detailed and intricate it is and how much story has come from these characters and wanted to be a part of that. I think this would be a great way to connect into the flock in a way that I can be a part of the story without feeling awkward asking for rp. I am very particular about contests like this and don't enter unless I feel I have a strong concept that can speak and breath as well as work with the family and connections that are already established. I modified my entry from the Whistle While You Dance contest because I feel like Sarakyla could make a fun flock character and connect with many different individuals within the flock. But more than anything I want to be a part of the community you all have built. Thank you very much for the opportunity.

Name of Child in Basket: Viveca Username: techabyte
Name: Viveca - Meaning "Alive, life; place of refuge" Temper: Audacious - meaning "showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks." Gender: Female
About Child: Viveca is a very adventurous little lady. She enjoys running about and exploring, and isn't afraid to take risks in order to do so. She will cross high rivers and travel through storms if it means giving her the thrill of adventure. She never stays out long though. Think of her as a sort of treasure hunter; going out and getting exotic materials not found near Flock grounds or even seeds of berries she has tasted that she thinks will grow well within the Flock territory and help to feed her and her Sisters. She keeps a map made by a raccoon she has bonded with with her at all times, so that she can share the information of everything she discovers with her Sisters.
Her goal is to become more than a Scout. More than just a Sister that goes out and finds possible breeding partners or hunting for meats. She wants to help the Flock grow more. She knows the Flock is a big group already, and that they could fight off any sort of adversary if need be. But what if they were more than that? A paradise for the Sisters and their stallions alike.
When it comes to her mannerisms, she has some sort of ticks. It probably came from when she was a young filly and she didn't socialize as much as the other young foals. She wanted nothing more than to explore and discover. And due to her lack of socialization she finds it hard to communicate at times of large groups. With her mother and siblings, she's fine. But most others cause her anxiety to go up and her to stammer and pull back. She's two sides of a coin; adventurous and bold when alone, but in groups shy and uncertain. She tends to linger near her family. She's a courteous creature, often times going out of her way to help others even though it makes her anxious, and being careful not to deplete resources needed to keep an ecosystem going.
Plots: - A Friend on the Outside - When she is old enough, I would like for her to encounter a stallion/mare on the outside that she clicks with almost like family. They will be someone she goes to before going on an adventure, and asks to keep a look out for her signals in case they can't reach the Flock. - What is That? - She has discovered other herds, and Viv is curious as to how they act in difference to the Flock. This can be multiple role-plays between various herd members so she can compare and see if there is anything that could possibly help to improve the lives of her and her Sisters. - Skinwhat? - She runs into a Skinwalker, and has no idea what to think of the thing. Could involve her friend coming to save her, since she won't be one to back down from a fight. - Trading and Bartering - There are Soquili who have little shops that she could easily have to forage or find something to trade in order to get the item she desires. This could put her in a pickle if it's something harder to achieve. - Trinkets and Balms - She likes to find things to bring back to her Mother that could help her in her own work, be it oils or forms of ointments where the ingredients aren't near Flock territory.
Any Additional Info: - Uncertain yet, but I think she will be a lesbian like her mother. Men hold no real interest for her, as they would only hold her back from her adventuring. - She will have a Raccoon familiar to help her with her maps and cleaning of the smaller seeds to bring back to the Flock. If possible I would like to get a bird that travels with her as well, but isn't bound to her. Perhaps they can be just a helper to the Flock in general, and run all sorts of errands.
RP Examples: [ These are all super old so I apologize in advance. Need to get back into RPing ] Negotiating with a Dragon Damp Paws and Dying Plants Ainulindalë xxx - From a past lit role-play. Just the top of the page.
Do you own any Members of the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: I do. I have four currently active members in the Flock. Morkin, Lalita, Vanwyn, and Vanrui.
Why do you want to Join the Flock/want another flock member?: I have always adored the Flock. Ever since I got my first member [ Morkin ] years ago. Back then I couldn't delve very far into the culture as I didn't know what I could have the boy do. But as I spent more and more time exploring and advancing within the Flock, I realize there was so much that could happen there. Drama's and love and hunting and dancing. It is such an expansive herd that has drawn me in every time I see it. I love the community and the way the system works. I love everything about it, and I'm always so excited to get to delve back into it.
[ All the same, thank you so much for the opportunity! Good luck to everyone! ]

Name of Child in Basket: Beatrix Username: Calixita
Name: Beatrix - A Scandinavian name meaning "voyager (through life)" or Latin meaning "she who brings happiness" Temper: Tenacious Gender: Mare
About Child: As a filly, Beatrix is very impressionable. She can never seem to make up her mind about what she wants to be when she grows up; she loves to help her mother in her work, but in doing so, meets mares in all kinds of professions who are happy to share their stories with her. She enjoys pretending to play out roles during her free play time, deeming herself "Oracle Beatrix," "Nanny Beatrix," or any other variety of titles depending on her mood when she wakes up each day. She especially loves it when adults play along with her. Fortunately, her flightiness doesn't last -- as she reaches teenager-hood, fewer stories from the clinic's clients seem to stick with her. Namely, those of a more adventurous type make her eyes light up with excitement, her fluffy ears perked in curiosity.
She never loses her kind, excitable personality, but it does become more focused. Suddenly, it seems like Beatrix inherited her mother's workaholic tendencies now that she has her eye on her future. She needs to be reminded to take a breather, sometimes, but Beatrix throws her whole self into training to become a Huntress. Of course, there is that old saying -- shoot for the moon, and even if you miss, you'll land among the stars. Beatrix doesn't just want to become a Huntress -- she has her sights set on becoming a Head Huntress.
Some day, at least. She knows it's a lofty goal for a youngling, and doesn't expect to get there without a little hard work... or a lot. But Beatrix hopes to get there one day, and in the mean time, she'll just have to put her all into becoming the best Huntress she can be. She loves her fellow Sisters dearly, but she can't help feeling a little competitive during their hunts -- wanting to be the one to bring home the biggest and tastiest prey. It's hard not to gloat and puff out her feathers a little when she does well, especially when she receives praise for her work... but she isn't cruel and doesn't resort to putting down her Sisters to do it.
As Beatrix grows more confident and successful in her skill, the more she wants to do it. She thrives on validation and praise, and, much like her mother, feels a little lost when she doesn't have something to focus on. She picks up and drops hobbies frequently, especially when she struggles to get the hang of them quickly, dismissing them as boring or just not for her. She's more of a talker anyway, loving to socialize and be the center of attention, thrilled that it's her turn to share stories with the foals, just as the adults did with her when she was just a filly.
Her flashy colors and beautiful jewelry don't do well with life as a Huntress; when on a hunt, she leaves her casual and formal accessories behind, replacing them wraps and light, leather armor to blend in with her surroundings while maintaining the swift mobility required for hunting.
Plots: The Standard - A typical harpy plot, but I'd like to be able to RP her capturing a stallion or two to bring back to the herd. Beatrix is less interested in aesthetics than she is in practicality; she'll go for strong stallions that could produce strong offspring over beauty... though she never shows much interest in keeping a stallion for herself, or even having children with anyone she brings home. She suspects she may just seek out a Whistle Stallion when she's ready to have children.
How to Make a Huntress - I'd like a few plots/RPs of her learning to become a Huntress, either with NPC Huntresses or existing ones. Her first success, her first failure, how to catch bigger and better prey; maybe one of her instructors helped instill the confidence and competitiveness Beatrix has now, however inadvertently, though playful games and contests.
A Daring New Task - After the discovery of Angeni Charms and how they work, the Flock has a new interest in capturing skinwalker baskets and charming them themselves for the purpose of adding ranks to the Cursedhunt. It's a risky idea, but Beatrix doesn't like to back down from a challenge, eagerly volunteering to aid in killing the skinwalker parents -- or at least helping cause a distraction long enough for her and her Sisters to get their claws on the baskets.
A Rivalry, A Friend - Beatrix meets a hawk familiar that's even more competitive than she is. Both being hunters -- one trained, one by nature -- they form a friendship that begins as a playful hunting rivalry. Eventually, Beatrix and the hawk become a bonded soquil and familiar pair, and the hawk joins the Flock to stay with her as an Honorary Harpy. (The hawk's name is TBD, but will be female!)
A Near Love Experience!? - She and a fellow Huntress share in a near-death experience... and it ends up bringing them closer than Beatrix could have imagined. As it turns out, her cocky exterior seems to vanish in the face of a crush. What are social skills, again??
Head Huntress - I'd love it if Beatrix is able to reach her dream goal one day and become a Head Huntress. By then, I imagine her to have matured greatly and be much more humble about her work. She will want to inspire the next generation of Huntresses and, with any luck, raise a few of her own. I think having children and/or others look up to her will make her start to focus more on the accomplishments of others instead of her own.
Any Additional Info: - gaaaaay - Close friends and family may call her Trix, but usually just goes by her full name - Likes to spend her free time with her siblings and parents, and helping her mother out at the clinic - Shares hunting trophies with her family, such as antlers, bones, feathers, and hide - Has an interest in brewing, especially as it relates to food and recreation, but was first introduced to the profession via healing remedies her mother uses (or maybe her uncle?) - Likely would have become a brewer if it weren't for her taste for excitement and competition - Loves Gladiator shows; they're her favorite form of entertainment, second only to celebratory feasts
RP Examples: Death's Queen - [ x ] The Walker - [ x ] Mushroom Soup - [ x ] Shiny! - [ x ] Paying the Debt - [ x ]
Do you own any Members of the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: No. I had a few stallions who were once members, but due to lack of interest for plots I either removed them or had them escape/released by the Queen. (My stallion Triboulet had a lifemate outside the Flock, and when the Queen found out, she decided to let him go; this was plotted out with Dragain!) This was a long time ago around when the Flock was still new. I've never had a mare in the Flock, but I've always really wanted one.
Why do you want to Join the Flock/want another flock member?: I've always loved the Flock's culture and how in depth it is, but struggled with having stallion members (there wasn't as much for them to do back then), and when I reached out for plots I never got much interest in my boys. Now that there's a lot more built up, though, all my stallions have plots elsewhere..! So I'm hoping to try again, this time with a mare!
Thank you for the opportunity!

Name of Child in Basket: Sonja Prism Username: LadyPipen
Name: Sonja Prism Temper: Empathetic Gender: Non-Binary
About Child: Sonja is a sweet, patient horse, if not a bit confused. As a young filly, she'd find a great deal of comfort with stallions- far more so than she's ever found with mares. Artistry is where she found her passion, then- the pursuit of creativity was where her young heart laid, and so she forwent any traditional training for a mare in favor of learning an artist's career, mastering paints, dyes and embroidery as a young filly, the artistry of makeup and styling, and loved every moment of it. Early on in her life, she discovered the truth in the saying, 'Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life'.
Nothing in her studies aided her social life, however- youngsters can be cruel, and Sonja's peers were no different- a filly pursuing dance or song was one thing, but spurning gender roles and spending such a great amount of time with her father and Sacred Sires- as she grew into maturity, it would have been more understandable, but seeking out male peers and mentors and friends was something that set Sonja apart as freakish- and a few scathing comments sent her questioning. She loved her father and the stallions she learned from and befriended, and she certainly found more kinship and enjoyment among them than her fellow females- excessively so.
There came a day when a few barbed comments came her way, and she broke- not into tears, but into rage. With an argument and a short-lived fight she promptly lost, she became a he- Sonja may not have cared much for gender and gender rolls, but her peers obviously had, and so she would be he, with no loss of identity to be had. It was a freeing realization, for a time- his female peers finally began to back off, and after a time, began to respect him as a male as he had never been respected as a female. For a while, this did bring them the peace they needed in which to grow into young adulthood, into a healthy and pleasant young stallion with the Flock at his claws.
He found his life calling in making beautiful trinkets for the pleasure of the Flock- males and females alike, and Sonja found pride in that. They were beautiful and well enjoyed, and while he considered for a while joining his father as a Whistler, the drive was never there- while he was proud his work brought others joy, he didn't have the heart for entertaining the mares of the Flock. In truth, he hoped one day to find a few mares or stallions to frequent, and no more than they... His heart belonged to his work, and he had little interest in entertaining the Flock in its entirety if it could at all be helped.
Life was good- but once one finds their place in the world, what is left but to contemplate it? As a young adult, Sonja finds himself pondering his place in the Flock once more- he has no real issue with it, not in truth, but deep down he knew his sudden change in gender identity was not willing, nor well thought out. As an adolescent, it was the ghost of a thought teasing the edge of his mind, the realization that he was not entirely female jerked out in distress and, at the time, the young stallion reacted with the only answer he knew- he simply was not female.
But he had grown- was he truly comfortable as a male? He was not uncomfortable- but neither had he been uncomfortable as a female, really, outside of his peer's teasings which had long since faded to distant memory. With more experience in the spectrum life, Sonja discovered that, in truth, they were most comfortable claiming neither- they did not have to be one nor the other to be happy.
They were creative, they appreciated beauty, they had male friends and female. They were more than happy to remain in the Flock with any other Stallion, but they also enjoyed the attentions of them. They enjoyed working for mare and stallion alike, and one day, they wanted a family that they could dote on and mother like any other mare would their children. They didn't have to claim one or the other- they could be as much a spectrum as life was.
Plots: The Apple and the Tree - Sonja finds more kinship in their father than they did their mother- and a mentor figure, as well. They have an early-life love of shadowing their father when they can and pick up on his patience and calm demeanor early in life, idolizing his talent at helping others to relax and find ease around him- they don't dislike their mother, they just easily pick up on the emotions around them, and thus shadow their calmer parent in an attempt to pester them into teaching Sonja absolutely everything.
The Bully - Sonja has quite a bit of trouble fitting in with the fillies their age, when they're all young- They like hanging out with stallions and tailing the artisans in hopes of learning something- very unladylike! I'd love to find someone to plot out Sonja's childhood rivals, and the filly(ies) who eventually sparked their gender questioning.
Artisan - Someone has to foster Sonja's love of their craft- for passion only gets you so far without means or direction. A mentor relationship with an older stallion who's experienced in the craft is ideal for someone who not only teaches Sonja their craft and directs their love of beauty and art, but also becomes a shoulder to lean on with the less comfortable questions and doubts that come with a youngster questioning things like gender and sexuality as they grow into adulthood- sure, Sonja's parents weren't unwelcoming, but it's embarrassing!
Friends like any other - Less of a concrete plot, I'd like to find some stallions that Sonja might have grown up with- their life wasn't all loner-bullies-by-mares! They had friends they loved very much, and what's life without pals supporting each other wherever their lives take them?
Siblings are your best friends - Siblings are the first friends you'll ever have- and though Sonja may have gotten tied up in themself and their ambitions in their youth, this isn't something they'll forget in adulthood. Perhaps they don't find as much kinship and common ground with their sister in youth as they do their brother, Sonja will be interested in repairing this lack of relationship once they've grown older, to take a more active interest in their sibling's lives and passions.
Mother Dearest - Growing up, Sonja always found more kinship with stallions- and being an empathetic foal, being around Gersemi was.... Stressful. Sonja never disliked their mother- quite the opposite, they loved her like any child would, but growing up, they unconsciously opened a rift between them, skipping out with friends and teachers when they could and spending as little time at home as possible- partially because this is simply how life goes, and partially because Gersemi's distress distressed her child in turn. As an adult, Sonja would one day look up and... Very much miss their mother, and very much not know how to address the distance time had created between them... Other than beginning to partake in some awkward trips to the spa.
Any Additional Info: - Can paint and embroider fairly well, but they're not very beloved tasks- however, it's fairly easy to sway Sonja into helping you out anyway- they're a sucker for performers and pretty eyes.
- Loves dancers and singers- if there's a public performance, you bet your tailfeathers you're going to find Sonja there- and a fair few private performances, too, if they can help it.
- They love to work with gemstones- their claim to fame is their ability to carve and polish the most spectacular and exotic toys from equally as spectacular gems while maintaining more comfort than you'd expect from a rock.
- They took the surname 'Prism' after adulthood, entirely self-imposed out of the poetic nature of it. Life could be a spectrum- and they could be the spectrum that created the rainbow of their essence as a sentient being.
- They greatly enjoy poetry and philosophy, as well- as far as the latter is concerned, the more confusing and abstract it is, the more Sonja enjoys it.

Do you own any Members of the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: Yes! One little miss Iridea Earthstrike
Why do you want to Join the Flock/want another flock member?: I love the Flock- which isn't surprising in the least, but it has such a colorful and interesting culture and setup that I'd love the chance to play and explore it from a different perspective than Iridea has! I saw this darlin' and came up with such an enjoyable character that was completely different from Iridea, and I knew I had to try for them~

Name of Child in Basket: XX Username: Nikkichomp
Name: Shariyah Temper: Quick Gender: Female
About Child: She's got an affinity for plants, not only able to locate, identify, and harvest efficiently, but able to nurture ailing plants back to health. She is not good at patience or waiting around for things to happen; rather, she'd prefer to move quickly and take action. Sometimes her impulsiveness lands her in tricky situations, and as she ages she will learn to tame this trait a bit, replacing it with decision-making colored with the knowledge and wisdom that comes with experience.
Plots: TBD but I *love* plotting even when I can't find space or muse-inspiration to do full RPs.
Any Additional Info: I'd plan to have her move into a Forager role as an adult, although she could potentially do well as a Guard if she needed a job in the herd and there wasn't space for more foragers.
RP Examples: foal 1 familiar short backstory
Do you own any Members of the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: Nope, 0
Why do you want to Join the Flock/want another flock member?: I've had my eye on the flock for a few years and have been too timid to try to join. Also didn't feel like I had a character that'd fit well, so here I am!

There are a few things she wishes to do but hasn't found an answer to which one will be her passion. Like being part of the Sacred Mothers/Daughters or becoming a Nanny. She loves the ideal of those.
Though she might be leaning toward becoming a Nanny seeing she is one of the rare few that like children and would love to spend her time with them. Teaching them. Oh she would love to teach them to dance. That would be so wonderful in her eyes. And she would take the job as Nanny to heart. Willing to risk her life for the children under her care and might all of them in the flock. After all children are the future.
So at the moment she is torn between becoming a Nanny or part of the Sacred Motherhood. Because of that she is going to view both jobs and then pick the one that touches her heart the deepest. After all to be a worthy teacher she will need to take part in everything the Flock does. All the jobs that can be held in the Flock. So that she will be able to teach the right things to the children that might be in her care if she goes with being a Nanny.
She hopes to be a member of the Flock to give back to this family unit that gave her life.
Plots: ~ Training for the Prefect Job. This is the plot that will take more then one RPs or just story plotting to finish. Name of Child in Basket: A'marie Username: Daffupanda
Name: A'marie - Gracious under adversity; Wished for Child Temper: Stubborn Gender: Female About Child: It's hard to not turn out a decent mare when surrounded all your life with loved ones and their council. A'marie wished for nothing whilst growing up, and not only seemed to fit in well within the Flock, but nothing she witnessed there pointed her to think that the life she was presented with was anything but the normal, the average, and how things should truly be. The Golden Age the Flock was experiencing during her growth helped to point towards their customs being right, and their way of life nothing if not secure.
Unfortunately, knowing is not exactly believing, deep down, and all the love and security in the world could not quite make A'marie feel entirely at home within the confines of her own body. Something about her own skin, her own flesh has always felt too tight, or perhaps, too lose, she's not quite sure, and due to a difficulty of how to explain the feeling, has never quite really come forward with it. Strange, she thought, wrong. Something was... off, but not with the herd, no, not with her mother, or her father or her siblings in the least, no.
Something was off with her, and while she'd initially brushed the sentiment aside when she was a child, huffing at herself for the notion, the thought germinated in her mind, going from seedling to large, serpentine plant. The branches slithered into her thoughts, and by the time she hit adolescence, A'marie was well aware the notion of something about her being wrong was... less a notion, and more a fact.
She watched other mares giggle and cackle over stallions, or sometimes, about other mares - she saw them eyeing each other, evaluating their physical traits. Attraction, some of them said in between giggles and breathy whispers; "Don't you feel it too, A'marie? Don't you think they're lovely to look at, at least? Look at them strut! Look at the display of feathers!" and so A'marie looked, and she felt nothing but confusion as she turned to watch the other foals.
Wrong, too tight, too narrow, too... something. But it became quite clear to her quite soon, that this was not on them. It was on her.
She was not shunned, and she was not mistreated in any way, but that did not stop the niggling branches of the tree she'd cultivated in her mind since childhood from peeking through her thoughts in demolishing ways. Still, she was strong, body, and soul, if not mind, and thus A'marie focused and turned herself outward, deciding that if she could not quite be happy, then she, at least, would work to ensure the happiness of others. Not the most healthy of solutions to say the least, and one her mother would have heartily frowned upon if she knew her daughter's inner turmoil, but a solution for the time being, nonetheless. One she could focus her attention on, in an attempt to get away from the troubling thoughts until she could wring up the courage to ask for help, be it from her mother, or other sisters, eventually.
A'marie thus turned to Dancing. She danced, and she bared her soul for all to see, hoping that it would help others push through their inner turmoil - she wanted nothing more than to offer help to those that would need it most. Plots:
Healing of Hearts, one by one - A'marie would share her mother's love for helping others, and would bond with her over it. She would likely share her own willingness to make others happy, through Dance, where she best expresses herself.
Let there be Peace - I would like A'marie to eventually tell her mother what ails her, and for her mother to explain to her that bottling up these negative emotions is unhealthy. I would like for her to heal as best she can, and for her to be loved not despite her differences, but because of them. I want her to realize that people accept her no matter how she is.
My heart will go On - I want her to remain in an unrequited romance with Irie for quite a while, and work herself out of it. I want her to confront her best friend and let her known how she feels, why, and eventually move on.
Any Additional Info:
- A'marie is either Ace entirely, or Demisexual. Rp would reveal which of the two. She can not feel sexual attraction for females or males in the physical sense, and could need a deep friendship and connection in order to proceed in any way.
- I am juggling the idea of her being trans-male, but not entirely sold on the idea, and it would need development through rp. I tend to create characters and let them... shape themselves through rp and interactions, and thus I don't know if this would be the case, but I did type out the above sections with this in mind. I did not use male pronouns because A'marie would be entirely unaware of the cause of her issues - after all, unless she has a point of reference, she would never find out beyond "I think the maker might have misplaced my soul in the wrong body". I'm unsure what Flock stances on this sort of thing are, so... I'd leave it open on a pin, in case this could be approached or not!
- Regardless of the above point, she had a brief romance with a Harpy sister by the name of Irie (Owned by Ladypipen - consent to the idea given), as an adolescent, where she finally realized that for her, attraction is bred through intimacy, time and friendship with the other person. Irie outgrew this romance and moved on, A'marie did... not quite do so, and is still quite a bit smitten with her good friend.

Do you own any Members of the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: Nope, none!
Why do you want to Join the Flock/want another flock member?: I've been hearing Pipen rave about the Flock for the better part of a year XD I'd like to join in on the fun, and none of my current ponies really fit the culture like I'd wish they would. This seemed like an opportunity!

This was SUCH A hard choice: There were so many good submissions! HOWEVER WE FINALLY HAVE A WINNER: CALIXITA Calixita Name of Child in Basket: Beatrix Username: Calixita
