Desdemona was ready to charge in at full speed to fight, eager as always -- possibly recklessly so, but that was par for the course and she's been doing just fine thus far. Why fix what isn't broken? She glanced down at the familiar companion that joined her -- they weren't bonded, but they had both been looking at the work the Forgemaster had been offering at the same time, and decided it would be a good idea to team up. A strong winged wolf would be helpful to have in battle -- they'd have both the ground and the air covered. Death's Queen would have no escape, not from them! She smiled and continued her steady trot forward, pleased with their little team and feeling confident. "Look, someone's over there!" she said, noticing a tan colored stallion. He looked sturdy, too! Maybe they could add one more to their number? Before waiting for Mizuko to reply, she ran over to the stallion to introduce herself. "Hi! I'm Desdemona."
"Wait!" Mizuko called out, chasing after her. "We have no idea who that is..." she trailed off as she got closer, eyeing the stallion warily as Desdemona introduced herself. "My name is Mizuko," he added, a little reluctant to trust a random stranger. At least she and Desdemona had a chance to speak when they were talking to the Forgemaster about the job; she was able to get a read on the soquili and felt comfortable enough to go along with her. Maybe she should have dragged Kitsuki along after all. "What are you doing out here?"

Jelenice rolled his eyes as the little bat named Zela hovered over him. He was not one to have company, and would rather be travelling on his own. He recently picked up the task of abolishing Death's Queen from the Forgemaster, only to have the bat tag along with him, for whatever reason. It wasn't like she would be able to contribute much. Thank goodness the bat rarely spoke.
He was barely getting out of his mood when a large wolf looking mare literally almost collided into him. It was her yell that stopped him, followed by that of a winged wolf. Okay,.. if things could not be any weirder. "Hello," he grunted, hating the idea of interactions. "I'm Jelenice, and this bird-brained dumb bat is Zela. Don't expect much from her though. She doesn't talk much from what I gotten from the few day's journey."
"I've picked up a task from the Forgemaster, if I remember? Good is depleting and bad is rising. He wanted me to try to make the Queen into what she once was, and show her the light in life." He shrugged. "What brings you two out here?"
Zela kept a careful eye out on top of the stallion. Even if he did not want her help, she wanted to tag along, and now that there was two others who might potentially join their party, the bat landed on the stallion's head. "Maybe the four of us could do this task! If you are willing," she piped in.

Desdemona nodded her head in agreement. "Mizuko and I are on the same hunt. Teaming up would be a great idea -- strength in numbers, as they say! With this, we'll have two in the sky and two on the ground. It'll be harder for the Queen to get the advantage over us if we have her surrounded like this, I think." She beamed at the pair, glad to have run into them. She wouldn't have taken up the job if she wasn't confident in her skills on her own, but having a larger team like this would only serve to increase their odds. "Maybe our flying friends could take the lead on our hunt? They'll probably be able to spot the Queen before us, and can let us know when we're getting close." Desdemona was more used to jumping headfirst into danger -- but she figured she may as well use a little more caution if she wasn't going to be alone. The last thing she wanted to do was be the reason someone else got hurt.
Mizuko sighed in relief. Well, at least this soquili and bat pair were on the same job as them; it was safer to have them say what they were up to first instead of the other way around. That way, if she and Desdemona had confessed to being here on a job for the Forgemaster, this mysterious stallion and the bat wouldn't be in a position to claim they were here for the same reason -- even if it hadn't been true. The plan Desdemona proposed sounded reasonable enough, and she fluttered her wings a little, stretching them out in preparation. "That idea sounds fine by me. The Queen should be nearby; I doubt we'll be searching long."

"Hey -- wait!" Mizuko called out after the bat, and with a frustrated grunt, ran off and swooped up into the sky after it. This was going to be a challenge, she just knew it. Did Zela even know how to fight? Mizuko groaned to herself, realizing she may have more work on her paws than she initially expected. She didn't want to have to worry about protecting someone during all this, too. It would be hard enough battling with three strangers she hardly knew anything about!
Desdemona laughed, amused by Zela's antics. She didn't know how useful she would be in a fight, but bringing smiles to faces was an important skill to have, too. Speaking of -- she shot a grin at her much grumpier companion and shrugged. "Wouldn't dream of it anyway. Come on, the sooner we do this, the sooner it'll be over, right?" She suspected Jelenice was looking forward to that. He didn't seem like he was enjoying the new company much. That was fine -- not everyone was cut out to be a social butterfly. She checked to make sure her gear was secure -- daggers in their proper place and her armor strapped on tight -- then began heading off toward the direction the familiars had gone.
Just as they suspected, Mizuko began to slow down a little as she spotted a dark shape not far from them. She tilted her wings slightly to move in closer to the bat as she glided, wanting to get her attention. "Hey. I think that's the Queen up ahead there. What do you think?"

Desdemona: 50 HP Jelenice: 50 HP Death's Queen: 50 - 2 = 48 HP
"Yes, she fits the description the Forgemaster gave us," Mizuko confirmed with a nod. "Lets go back to let them know; that way we'll all be prepared when we go in for an attack." She circled around once to make sure she had Death's Queen's location pin pointed before heading back toward Desdemona and Jelenice, fluttering down to land in front of them to report their delivery. "We found her. She's just up ahead, around the hill."
Desdemona decided to let the stallion stew in his silence. If that's what he preferred, she was fine to play along to appease him. No sense in antagonizing someone you were going to ally in battle with. She'd just go on her own way with Mizuko after the fight and leave him be, if that's what he wanted. She came to a stop when Mizuko landed before them and listened to her report. She glanced at Jelenice, the smile gone from her face, now focused and ready to fight. "Right. Lets go in."
She made her way around with the others, creeping as quietly as she could, wanting to keep the element of surprise. Death's Queen wouldn't be fooled, though. The wind shifted, carrying their scents with it, and as she began to turn Desdemona leaped forwards to attack. She pulled a knife from her leg straps with her mouth and threw it toward the Queen, slicing her hide.

Desdemona: 50 - 10 = 40 HP Jelenice: 50 - 10 = 40 HP Death's Queen: 43 - 9 = 34 HP
Death's Queen's retribution was swift. She struck hard, and she struck fast -- claws delved into flesh and blood was drawn, the dark red blending into Desdemona's black fur. Adrenaline hit like a drug and Desdemona retaliated, her vision swimming in red; saliva filled her mouth in hunger and she snarled viciously at the monster. She dug her claws in and clutched at the Queen's hide, opening her jaws wide and sinking teeth into the Queen's flesh; she shook hear head violently, tearing away from the Queen and taking parts of her with her as she backed away to prepare for her next attack.
Mizuko swooped in and landed on the Queen's back, latching onto her neck with her teeth; she held on tight, squeezing her jaws shut tighter and tighter until finally the Queen bucked and she lost her grip; she slipped off to the side, claws drawing red lines against the Queen's side as she fell. Quickly, she rolled away, her avoiding stomping hooves.

Death's Queen: 34-5 = 29 HP Desdemona: 40 HP Jelenice: 40 HP
Zela saw that the Queen was going to strike the two Soquili, and it was going to be bad. "Bad bad bad!" she screamed at the beast, while digging her vampire teeth into the shoulder. It did not do much, considering the bat's size. But she still felt like it was better than nothing. She was about to be squished by Mizuko, so she flew off, giving the wolf the freedom to give the Queen justice.
Hit with a cold blow, Jelenice ignored the cuts all over his body. Desdemona was still attacking, like a true warrior. The stallion once again attacked, giving a kick to the Queen as Mizuko fell off the creature. By this, at least someone would be attacking the monster at all times. He then quickly sprinted a few feet away, trying to regain his breath.

Desdemona: 40 - 10 = 30 HP Jelenice: 40 - 10 = 30 HP Death's Queen: 29 - 1 = 28 HP
By the spirits, Death's Queen was powerful! At this rate, Desdemona wasn't sure they were going to come out on top. She couldn't let this be her last adventure -- she still had so many things she wanted to do, so many places she wanted to see! She watched the battery of blows, taking in how each of them struck in turn, noticing that Jelenice saw the pattern, too. That's right -- they couldn't let up. As soon as one of them backed away, another would take their place. She lunged in for another attack, but Desdemona was only able to press the blade still stuck in the Queen's body a little deeper before she was knocked away to the ground, grunting from the force of it. The Queen got the upper hand that time!
As soon as Desdemona was knocked away, Mizuko swooped in again for her turn, striking from the opposite side. Her wings flapped in the Queen's face, distracting her from attacking the others before she darted above and over to claw at the Queen's back again. She didn't let herself get thrown off this time, pushing off the Queen's back and flapping back up into the air, out of reach.

Death's Queen: 20-1 = 19 HP Desdemona: 20 HP Jelenice: 20 HP
To see Jelenice caught and to hear Desdemona's cry, Zela was furious! They were strangers to her, but she was still on a team with them. One down, and they all would all fall too! Zela dived straight-first into the claws that attacked the mare. The bat was small enough to not get crushed, Rather, she was more like a ticklish effect on the Queen, causing the monster to let go of the mare.
Jelenice suddenly dropped to his knees as he was released. His leg was hurting bad, and was probably going to make him lame in a few days. He did not care right now. His ears hur when his battle partner screamed, and his anger was boiling. No one was supposed to hurt her, even if he didn't care about her. Jelenice half galloped, limping on his way, stumbling. His Hooves were still strong, and so were his back legs. He gave a rearbuck, kicking the Queen's back as hard as he could. He'll check on his battle partners later. "Zela, it's time for the salve!"
