Hobbies: Combative Knife Training: Especially street combative techniques. Inspired by her father and the knife training he received in the Marines, Adelinde aspires to continue her training in the future in the military but in the mean time, she is satisfied with competing with her classmates. Her dedication makes her excel and she is one of the best in her class. She attends classes 3 times a week. She takes this training very seriously as it is the sort of training that, when applied to its full potential, could lead to the death of whoever she is fighting. She has vowed never to use this training in anger, and only in defense.
Hair and Makeup: Addy enjoys all things makeup and hair. While she has had a LOT of hair mishaps hidden by beanies and carefully pinned updos in the past, she has improved a lot over the years. She practices makeup, hairstyles, and dye jobs on her friends whenever they are willing and on herself when they are not. She is rather proud of her orange fading to purple. She calls it Destiny Sunset.
Virtues: Independent: Adelinde is the kind of girl who likes to do things by herself and for herself. After her mother passed while her Marine father was away on duty, she grew up be very independent. Her aunt took care of her for a time and maintains guardianship of her while her father is away but before she went to Romano's, she learned how to do things for herself and in fact came to enjoy it. As such she cooks for herself, cleans for herself, has learned how to help do things such a pay bills, and continues to become more and more self-sufficient all the time she attends Romano's. She gets herself to her knife training and carefully manages the allowance her aunt has provided for her in order to pay for it.
The downside to this is that she has a hard time accepting help or letting other people do things for her. Even when she is sick she insists on taking care of herself and good luck arguing the point otherwise.
Diligent/Detail-Oriented: Adelinde is a very detail oriented person. She will work hard, diligently, and without slowing until something is done. She puts effort into everything she does because, as her father would say, if you aren’t going to do something right, don’t do it at all. Because of this trait, she does very well in school and is aiming for the advanced diploma. While she might not be the best as far as natural talent goes, she makes up for it with her diligence and her drive to succeed. She is always on the lookout for the smaller details that mean so much.
Unfortunately because of this, Adelinde can get so caught up in the details she misses the big picture and will often times continue to miss it until someone pulls her aside and helps her.
Fun-loving: Adelinde is a fun girl to be around. She likes to play pranks, joke around, and just in general have fun. Her pranks are never meant to be hurtful or dangerous, nor are her jokes. It’s all in the name of having a good time and if she does hurt someone she won’t hesitate to apologize. She enjoys going and hanging out with her friends just to unwind and especially enjoys parties (so long as all of her school work is done, of course). She often times tries to gather all of her friends up so that they can hang out and wander around town or relax at someone’s home.
She is always on the lookout for new fun things to do or a new restaurant to try and can be rather spontaneous in the way she does things.
Flaws: Spiteful: Adelinde is the queen of holding grudges. If someone has wronged her, it will be a while before she forgets it. As long as she remembers their slight, she will remind them, regardless of whether or not they have apologized. She will say mean spirited things out of spite just to get under their skin and smile while she watches them react however they may. Their anger is her glee and she has no problems hitting all the right buttons in order to hurt someone in payback for however they hurt her.
Small offenses will not garner this severe of a reaction, but if someone annoys her, she will also go out of her way to annoy them. In short, she pays people back in kind.
In regards to her knife training, she keeps to her personal code. Never in anger. This also means never in spite. This was a lesson she learned from her father that she cherishes. She limits her aggression to verbal.
Headstrong: Adelinde is right. No, it doesn’t matter that you have facts. No, it doesn’t matter that you have proof. Adelinde is right and you telling her otherwise is a surefire way to piss her off. The girl has a real problem with admitting that she is wrong about anything from arguments with friends to disagreeing with teachers in school about what they have to say about her work. She will not hesitate to tell you why you are wrong and try to convince you to see things her way. After all, her way is the right way.
If she were to be provided with something utterly undeniable, Adelinde would storm off, enraged at the thought that she could be wrong. After some time she might come to see things in a new way and adopt them into the way she does things but don’t expect her to ever admit that she was wrong or acknowledge her changes.
Envious: Addy tries to keep herself busy with school, her training, and working towards an Advanced Diploma, but at the end of the day, there is a hole in her heart. Addy misses her mother Mona every day and wears her old promise ring under her uniform gloves. She misses her father Adrian and can't wait for the next time he can call home, but it isn't often. She has her aunt Trina when she really needs somebody but she has her own life and has loosened the reigns since Addy got accepted into Romano's.
Addy is envious of other students and kids who get to see their parents on a daily basis. Addy is envious of people who have siblings they can lean on. She is envious of people with big families and, though the words would never come out of her mouth, despite her independence (which is a learned survival trait and coping mechanism), what she wants most is a big family to love and understand her. She wants not to feel so alone. All of this manifests in envy, which can bring out her spite when family is mentioned or discussed in detail.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Eyes: Addy has wide, doe eyes that are purplish pink and framed with long lashes that are almost always mascara enhanced.
Hair: Addy's hair is actually a raven black but it has not been her natural color for the past five years. At present it is orange, fading into pink and then light purple into dark purple. It is just above waist length when not braided, thick, full, and she tucks her long sideswept bangs under her uniform had because she hates the lines it creates.
Face: Addy has a heart shaped face, a small, sharp nose, lightly defined cheekbones and pouty lips.
Clothes: When not in her school uniform or ROTC uniform, Addy likes to wear chucks, tank tops, and zip up sweat shirts. Otherwise she likes layers, a mixture of punk rock with some scene accessories.
