While she'd already done this once before, Verusha was feeling up for another turkey hunt. It was something she was accustom to, doing it pretty often back at school and home, and might be a good way to help with her effort to continue in gaining info from the towns folk. Besides... she wanted to cook a perfect one, this time around.
With Cannon padding loyally beside her, the ghoul set back out into the outskirts to seek out a turkey. A worthy turkey, that would make for a nice meal. Pale gaze skimmed the options, seeing a few grazing further out, and some squabbling amongst one another.
"Let's see... which one looks nice and plump for the taking..." she muttered to herself, hand raised to rub at her chin in thorough thought.

Puella was getting a little bored, but even so she was surprised to see her...friend? Partner?
Something like that. What she meant was: Puella was pretty surprised to see Verusha out and about again, when she hadn't even been looking for her. "Verusha!" she grinned, waving as she jogged over. And the giant dog, too. Puella gave him a smile, too. He deserved it! Probably. "What're you looking for out here?" she asked, although she was beginning to suspect she knew. She'd already come to fight the turkeys here multiple times.
She didn't mind, though. A-at least the turkeys weren't apex turkeys, right?

While trying to spot out a fine specimen of a turkey, Verusha's attention was instantly diverted when a voice piped up. Of course, Cannon was first to respond, taking a protective stance before his reaper, and the other ghoul who'd approached them. His glare aimed right at the recently met student, unyielding in intensity.
Looking over her shoulder, before turning to face the other, trademark grin in place, "A nice juicy looking turkey. Cannon's been itching for some hunting again." a proud pat was given to the top of the hounds head. Glancing back at her peer, she pursed her lips slightly in thought, "Say, what's your name anyway?" there'd never been any sort of introductions, or maybe she completely missed them... couldn't hurt to ask anyway.
But Cannon reacted suddenly when a turkey came barreling towards them, his muscles tightening, and pushing off to charge at it in retaliation, lips peeled back in a ferocious snarl.

Puella didn't seem unnerved by Cannon's glare, or if she was she didn't show it. She was a little lost in admiring him again, anyway. She wanted a minipet that was big and defended her! Or something. Well, she knew enough about reaper biology and demon biology to realize that it probably wouldn't happen, but still. A flaming dog. She could feel her little arachnid heart just puddling right there.
"Oh!" said Puella when Verusha replied. "Oh, turkeys!" That'd be a piece of cake for Verusha and her dog, right? They were both just so cool. "And, um - I can't believe I forgot to introduce herself!" She'd heard Verusha saying hers as she'd jumped into the fray, but she had entirely forgotten that she hadn't been there when TK had introduced himself and Puella to Fia. "I'm Puella!" She gave a little cutesy wave, even though they'd already greeted her, and then a familiar brown bird shape came charging out of the foliage.
Okay, Puella knew how this went. She readied her fists to jump on the turkey, but ended up tripping and falling onto the ground before she could move more than a foot. Whoops.
"...pretend that didn't happen," she suggested helpfully as she got back to her feet.

The little curtsy earned a light chuckle from Verusha, who crooked a curious brow at the polite means of introduction. Far different from her own nonchalant exchange. "Well it's nice to meet you, Puella. You did pretty awesome in the last few quests we've done together." she complimented, while eyeing the turkey that had gotten a large chunk of its feathers torn out by Cannon's fearsome fangs.
Another n** was landed on the fowl as Cannon snapped at its scrawny legs! But as usual, it didn't take a hit without retaliating with one of its own!

"Thanks!" Puella said, happy to hear that someone was impressed. Although she supposed Verusha had missed Puella stumbling right over the giant snake that'd wanted to crush her wyvern egg. "You're really good at fighting, yourself!" she added with a gentle beam. Or, well, her dog was, or something. One of them was good. "It was so cool when, um, your dog - " she didn't know Cannon's name " - did that big invisible thing in!"
Puella readied herself to go again, bouncing lightly on her heels. She waited for a good opportunity, this time, and at an easy lope came in to strike the turkey in the wing with a well-aimed punch. Of course it pecked at her, but Puella didn't mind that so much. It was just a surface wound.

Verusha let her familiar run around chasing the turkey, and chomping at it when ever close enough. After all, he greatly enjoyed the thrill of a fight just as much as she. Typically she saved her fists for fellow two-leggers who needed to be put in their place. So Cannon could have all the fun this time around... but it sure was awesome watching him do his thing.
Arms tucking into her far too small pockets, the ghoul rocked back on her heels from Puella's fawning over Cannon, a wide, proud grin spreading on her face. "He's great, isn't he? His names Cannon, by the way. You should see his strongest attack... looks like a firey cannon ball, destroying everything in his path. <3 " while the description was violent, there was clear awe in her tone.
The ghoul bit her grin back some as the petite femme went in to strike the turkey too, giving it a pretty hard knock! "Not bad, not bad. You into fighting too then?" Verusha knew better than anyone not to judge a person by their looks. So who knows, maybe this little tyke was as much a fighter as she was.

"That sounds so cool," Puella marveled, eyes going a bit shiny. "I wanna see that when we're back at school! Wait..." She paused, glancing over at the reaper. "Wait, I just assumed. I, um, I go to Amityville Academy! I'm not sure whether or not you do..." Her voice trailed off a little nervously.
She drank in the dog's movements with some measure of eagerness. He was so strong!
She shrugged at Verusha's questions, though. "I don't think I'd call it one of my hobbies...but I want to be good at it?" she answered, voice going higher at the end of the sentence. "I'm kind of tiny," she confessed, although she was pretty sure Verusha had already noticed that. "But I like climbing things, and stunting, and, well..." She shrugged, watching the turkey avidly for an opening. "I think improving at fighting would help me at that, at least!"
She waited for an opening before dashing in and aiming a kick at the turkey's neck. Her legs were actually quite a bit stronger than her arms, but she was much worse at aiming with them. Still, though, her aim rang true, and she was satisfied to see the turkey twitch before falling to the floor, dead.
"How 'bout you?" she asked, turning to Verusha and beaming.

And the other ghoul managed to pull another light chuckle from the punk reaper, who flashed her another grin, "Heck yeah I wouldn't mind showing you. And you guessed right, I go there too. Though can't say I'm all that much a star-student." she mused with a light smirk, hinted with smugness.
The explanation given was absorbed as Verusha continued to watch the duel efforts of both familiar and classmate attack the turkey, who went down from a mighty kick by Puella. Cannon skidded to a swift stop when he saw that the game was over, glaring at the one who'd concluded it. But with a soft snort, he gathered the turkey by its broken neck, and brought it to Verusha.
However, the ghoul was already strolling on over to Puella, giving a low whistle, showing her impressed state, "Size's got nothing to do with ability or skill. And from what I've just seen you do, you're a natural." a hand lifted to place onto a tiny little shoulder, patting it in praise, "I wouldn't mind showing you a thing or two, if you're wanting."
Ah but they had to complete their duty here. Cannon nudged the turkey gently to Verusha's leg to signal to her that it needed to be prepared. Setting up the provided spit, she began the cooking ritual all over again. This time.. she stared more intently at it, watching the meat crisp, and darken, before tearing it off just at the right moment. Yes! A perfect colour, and crispiness...
Glancing to Puella, she tilted her head in gesture for the other ghoul to follow, "let's get this back, and we can talk some more."

"I'm not really much of one either," Puella replied, scuffing her shoe on the ground nervously. "But...we can always get better, right?" she added, scratching the back of her neck thoughtfully. "Or maybe we can pass on just the merits of our gym skills!"
Her grin grew even wider as Verusha called her a natural, though. "I'd love that!" she said. "I've been feeling a bit nervous. TK, um - you saw TK, he was the big skeleton boil - he's just so good at fighting!" He really knew how to use his body. Most of the time Puella had to rely on her FEAR to get things going. Jumping spiders were very well known for their jumping, after all. "I'd love that, though!" It'd also mean she'd have motivation to go out more, and that was never a bad thing.
Puella wasn't the biggest fan of turkey meat, but even she had to admit that, fresh from the spit, it smelled good. The juices crackled with just the right amount of tempting deliciousness. Verusha had cooked it well. "Sure!" she said, getting up and following in Verusha's wake. Besides, she didn't have a ton of other things to be doing!
