"I'm kind of hungry," Puella said, after they'd scrambled to get their clothes back on again. She hadn't realized how much she'd missed the heat that a combination of layers and summer brought! "Um, let's find the villagers with the spit again." Then they could kill more birds, and maybe keep the steaks for themselves this time? She wouldn't mind eating some roast bird. Assuming she and TK could figure out how to time the roasting properly, anyway. "What do you think, TK?" she asked, but she was already walking off, keeping one of her rear eyes pointed at him all the same. She was actually very hungry - they'd been doing a lot of work, after all, and for little gain! Also, it was better to kill more turkeys while her clothes were still blood-spattered. That meant she'd only have to wash them once, right? And then later she'd just do cleaner things in them. That was reasonable.

He was simply glad to be able to slip back into his usual clothes. The skeleton was just a smidge too eager to dispose of the towel that had once adorned his bony waist as Puella declared her hunger. “Is that so?” It was a familiar statement to TK. His family often said it, which often led to much cooking and food and banquets and incredible amounts of gluttony. He hummed at the thought.
The spider ghoul had asked him a question, but she had already wandered off to find a villager with a couple of spits for them to use. “I suppose there is no harm in trying again,” he sighed, catching up to Puella in no time with his long strides. Maybe this time they would be able to cook them probably, but who knew? Maybe they would mess up again.

Puella nodded, then paused and tilted her head. "Do skeletons get hungry?" she asked after a while, ever the tactful ghoul. They'd found the villagers with the spits again, and she eagerly accepted one. "Or..." Actually, she wasn't sure if skeleton was the right word for whatever TK was. Maybe she did need to pay more attention in class. Anyway, she wandered over to the outskirts of town where they'd found their turkeys earlier. These things couldn't be that smart, right? Would they be right where they'd left them? Apparently the answer was yes. She found a little flock of turkeys milling about near town. "Hey you!" she called, but when that didn't work to draw their attention, she looked around on the ground. Ooh, rocks! Eagerly she picked one up and threw it so that it smacked the turkey firmly on the wing. That'd teach it to ignore her! ...or maybe it'd just teach it to attack her. It and a friend rushed at Puella and TK with beady eyes and sharp beaks. Whoops. At least now they'd isolated some of them! Turkey HP: 8/10 Puella HP: 28/30

“If you are referring to a carnal hunger, that is impossible for any Halloween resident,” he answered truthfully. “But my family admittedly has a hobby about good food. I know a thing or two about cooking.” Just don’t ask about how he’d managed to overcook the previous steak. Just. Don’t.
Birds were not as smart as Halloween denizens. Even if a couple of their flock were claimed, they would usually remain in their original territory. It made things easier for them. Before he could say anything, Puella had already tossed a rock to get their attention. It had seemed like a good idea first, but that was before a pair of them suddenly started attacking them before either had a chance to slip in an attack.
Sighing, TK took his spit and lunged out.

"Wow," Puella huffed. "Carnal makes it sound so technical!" Still, it was useful information, and she filed it away with a pleased thought. It wasn't every day you learned something new! She lunged at her turkey again, though, having learnt to focus from their earlier mishap with them. That didn't mean she escaped damage, of course. Its wings were thick and powerful, even if they lacked the pure scratching force of the beak or the talons on its feet. They smacked hard against Puella's tummy with a firm thwap, and she scowled. Ughhh. But there'd be a yummy steak afterwards, right? She resisted the urge to peek at TK. Turkey HP: 3/10 Puella HP: 26/30

“I like to speak more on the technical side,” TK admitted curtly as he dodged the turkey that Puella was fighting in favor of taking another jab at his own. It released an indignant squawk, managing to miss his first attack. He made a hum of disapproval as it dodged, so he lunged forward and thrust his spit forward once more. This time it hit its mark and the turkey fell forward, dead.
As he looked up at Puella, the skeleton once again realized he was the first to finish. He hummed, slipping the spit out and leaving a trail of splattered blood. “Have you almost finished?”

"That's...cool, I guess," said Puella, who actually thought it was kind of interesting. Who would make those kinds of choices? More importantly, could she get TK to say silly words? Or at least non-technical ones? Were there cases where he didn't know the technical term? Well, Puella supposed it counted when he talked about claiming prizes from their, er, encounters with village life. Hahaha, go Puella's courtesy. She reared up to stab at her turkey again when TK's voice sounded, and she flailed in an attempt to look over at him. "W-wh - ahhhh! I think it looks pretty hurt?" Puella said, gesturing at her turkey. Just then it started kicking at her shins - apparently in an attempt to trip her up. Puella wouldn't fall to its wiles, though! She huffed again, puffing her bottom lip out and biting at it. Turkey HP: 3/10 Puella HP: 24/30

It was difficult to tell if Puella was actually interested or just trying to be polite, much like how TK often spoke. He deadpanned at Puella’s response before moving his gaze to the remaining turkey. “Yes, but I must point out that is the point.” Considering he wanted this chore to be over as soon as possible, he decided to offer some assistance to the ghoul.
With his spit now free of his own turkey, TK leaned forward to take a gentle stab at the turkey. It was on the last of its legs, but still standing. He hummed. “What a hardy fellow, this one is,” he mused as he leaned back to try and dodge its beak.

"It's really tough!" Puella agreed, humming merrily. But with the two of them working together, they'd certainly take it down, right? She reared back with her stick and thwapped the turkey firmly. Or, uh, she tried to. Actually she hit the turkey and her blow glanced off, sliding so that the brunt of it met with, well, thin air. The angered bird let out a majestic squawk and ran at Puella with some newfound ferocity. It really didn't like that its friend had been killed, huh? She windmilled her arms about and ran back a bit. "Wow, um, looks like it's really angry, too!" TURKEY: 2/10 Puella HP: 22/30

A pause as Puella managed to miss the turkey, but he supposed that creatures on their last feet could pull admirable feats.
Unfortunately for the turkey, TK was starting to lose his patience and in terms of skill, he outclassed Puella and the turkey put together. He didn’t put in much effort when he took a quick, large step forward and stabbed the turkey one last time. It flapped its wings before collapsing, the life disappearing from its eyes.

"You're so good at this!" Puella gasped when she was able to look back down at that turkey. "What electives do you take?" Puella needed to get in on that, stat. She picked up her turkey, though, and took out her pocket knife again to carve a large slice of steak from the turkey. Look how pretty it was! She lifted the spit and got a fire started, watching TK inquisitively as she did so. He was a weird kinda boil, wasn't he? But she liked that he was good at getting things done. Humming, she situated the steak on the spit carefully so that it'd dangle over the middle of the fire...and oh! There was the fire now, roaring to life. She squealed in delight and put the spit over the fire. "Anyway, where were you headed before all this happened?" she asked, waving her arms generally at the town. It was time to settle down and wait, and that meant they could gossip, right? Ooh, look, her steak was done! She jumped to slide it off the spit and sniff at it curiously. Ughhh - it smelled perfect. "This was a lot more successful than last time," she confessed, grinning over at TK to see how he was doing.

He was cooking the steak.
"Just the usual," he started at first, and then began to list other classes in one giant list.
And ended up burning his second steak as a result.
