Full Name: [Gaddok Dragol]

Nicknames: [???]

Race: [Earthling: ½ Wind ½ Leaf]

Gender: [Male]

Age: [Stage 3: Knight]

Religion: [Gaddok was raised to worship Bergchi, though after he discovered his mother worshiping the earth in secret he began following her to these prayer sessions and found that he took better to the prayer of “Tersa” Mother of the Earth and all that come from it. ‘Til this day he still keeps this a secret from his father.]

Quote:
As far as his religion goes, the leaf earthlings are animists, to put it bluntly, so they don't really have deities, but they do believe that everything has a spirit. I don't want to cramp any creativity, so I don't mind that you've made up a name for the "earth mother" (we actually encourage it) and I love the detail that you've put into his background, I just want to make sure that you know what the majority in Tale believe, so that most people he meets will probably not know of Tersa. But you're good to go on all of the religious stuff.

["Tersa" Is a name used to help Gaddok assimilate what he knows about religion to what his mother believes in. It’s like a little six-year-old catholic boy has a mother who believes in Shintoism... Basically when she says that all things that come from the earth have souls, and Gaddok says well how did they get them? Instead of saying they all naturally have them because they come from the earth... She can say, "Tersa" gave it to them. So in little six-year-old Gaddok's mind he may see a pretty little flower goddess of the earth named Tersa giving him a soul... It is simply not so.

As Gaddok gets older he understands the differences between his mother and father's religion, so the necklace no longer has any religious holding... It's become more of a symbol to him of bonding with his mother; sort of getting to see a side of her he otherwise would have never known existed... ]

Political Affiliation: [Libertarian- By definition, it is simply this: One who advocates maximizing individual rights and minimizing the role of the state.
Gaddok believes in a moral society where people take care of one another, and therefore don’t need to have the constant interference governing forces. ]

3 Base Traits: [- Practical – Resourceful - Patient]

Personality: [Growing up in the shadow of a successful traveling merchant hasn't been easy, especially since he shares no interest in becoming one himself. He has, however, taught himself to be quite resourceful both in communication and in his surroundings. Gaddok is somewhat of a “MacGyver” of his era, coming up with the most ridiculous inventions with no more than the items on hand to perform tasks that were otherwise unfeasible.

Resourceful inventing has led him to develop a great deal of patience. Gaddok required perfection out of his inventions, surprisingly his virtue of patience carried over into his conversations and everyday life.

Gaddok practicality might be his ultimate downfall in conversation. He may have inherited his father’s charisma and overall presence, but when his mouth opens and words fall out, they tend to be brutally honest and more often than not people can’t handle his honesty; though his loyalty and commitment to society as a whole won’t lead him to hold anything against an individual, unless they are morally off in their choice of lifestyle and refuse to seek guidance.

Gaddok learns best through experience, which has led him to a great deal of injury. He generally works best by himself. ]

Serious Problems/Flaws/Addictions/Disorders/Disabilities: [ Gaddok opens himself to experience life to its fullest... Often times not guarding himself against the trials life throws at him. When things don't go as planned and he can be caught off guard, depending on how far he is derailed he can have some extreme reactions.

Gaddok has some fantastic patience when it comes to working on things, but his patience can be easily tested when confronted with certain people. ]

Likes: [ Being the guy everyone goes to when there is a problem, Problem-solving in general]

Dislikes: [???]

Hobbies: [Catching and training Sail Scales. Tbc…]

Special Abilities/Skills: [???]
User Image
Occupation(s): [ Entrepreneur- After the Alkidike conflict Gaddok was on a trade route with his father that was ambushed. Most everyone recovered from their injuries, but Remus was afflicted with a severe respiratory infection. After months of working with the local healer, they were sent away to Zena for a possible cure. While Remus was out of commission, Gaddok was swayed to taking over the business temporarily while his father recovered... Well, as months turned into years, Gaddok shifted the failing business to something more successful. Instead of just sailscale trade, they moved to hosting a network of vendors that pooled their money and paid a commission to have open stock among one another. The concept took off and soon Gaddok was running an entire trade enterprise. ]

Past Occupation(s): [ - Sail scale trapper: As a youth(6-12ish), Gaddok’s father had him go out in search of Sail Scales for their trade business. This was a key time for him to develop his inventive, resourceful skills.

-Merchant: As Gaddok got older, His father began bringing him along to teach him his trade; give him a taste of the fruits of his labor as a Sail Scale Trapper. As much as Gaddok appreciated the extra currency in his pocket, he grew rather attached to the creatures he caught, and seeing them be traded off for various purposes left a bad taste in his mouth, especially when all he received in return were a few bits of metal. Of course, as time went on he became used to the transaction and understood its purpose. It was another key point of growth in his life.

- Traveler/Mercenary: Fed up with life at home, Gaddok has left his mother to the house to write his own path. He intends to venture into the land of Jauhar to see if he can bring some peace to the Shifters or possibly learn more about the Alkidike. ]

Physical Description:
[- Taller than your average Earthling
- Ashen Tan skin
– Brown/Green(Hazel) Eyes
– slight point to tip of ears
- dark brown, long, wavy hair
scruffy w/o ‘stache ]

Clothing: [*These are reference images and should I get a custom slot for him will most definitely be edited to better suit the surroundings of the natives in Tendaji.* His armor can be broken down like so:
Stage 1: Prentice - Everyday clothing
Stage 2: Swordsman - Traveling clothing
Stage 3: Knight - Battle clothing

History: [This tale begins with a lonely traveling merchant who wandered into the lands of Tale on a business venture. He happened upon the most breath taking sight, a leaf priestess, whom not only occupied a good portion of his waking thought but also haunted his sleep. Upon one of his routine visits to her quaint little village, he finally had worked up the courage to make the first move…

The rest seemed like history, they hit it off, got married, had a beautiful baby boy and moved to his hometown of Iory in the land of Sauti. His business was booming, and the people of Iory were so thrilled that they offered him a position as a ‘Counselor’ or governing figure of their village. He humbly accepted this great honor; however, it would seem his shift of power had darkened the doorstep of his marital home.

He turned on his wife, forcing her to abandon the ways of her people and adopt those of the wind people. He became more controlling over who she associated with and what she wore; everything about her had to be of his people. Their son would be raised as a member of the wind society, and know nothing of his mixed race.

And this is the life Gaddok has come to know. His father was away most of the day tending to the needs of his people or business matters in his sail scale trade. His mother tended to the house and their son. Gaddok had a list of chores to be done in the morning, then the majority of the day to himself. At night he would check the live traps before heading home. Most of the time his father was yelling at his mother about something; things rarely got physical. Gaddok would generally take his supper and head to his room, being sure to return the plate to the kitchen before heading off to bed.

One of the few good memories Gaddok has of his childhood is the day he learned of his mothers’ people. It was close to sunset when he tailed his mother out to a grove not too far away from their house. He witnessed her praying to what seemed like nothing. Startled at first, his mother passed it off as her getting fresh air, but knowing her husband would be away, she began teaching him her ways; her real ways.

Tersa was the name he gave the earth. It was easier for him to assimilate to the religion that way. She gathered a bit of earth and placed it in a decorative glass vial, strung a thin piece of leather around it and gave it to him, saying that he would never be lonely as long as he had that vial. Tersa would always be with him, and as long as he respected the earth and all that comes from it, she would bless him with good fortune.

Gaddok continued to practice the worship of earth in secret, but of course, life at home didn’t improve, so when he was old enough, he left home to be a traveler. It was devastating for him to leave his mother behind, but he was sure to always send letters, trinkets, and currency back home to let her know that he was well. ]

Family: [ Aerilyn [Mother]- The light in his darkest times, his mother has been a stable positive part of his life from day one. No matter what happened he could always go to her, confide in her all his secrets, and she would make everything okay again.

Quote:
How did the mother react to the change in her husband and how did she explain his actions to Gaddok when he was old enough to understand that that wasn't the way a person should be treated?

[Gaddok came to the decision that that isn't the way people should be treated through observing other families in his village. He saw how their families acted, and though there were slight moments of discord, for the most part, they were quite harmonious in their daily lives; working as a family unit.

Aerilyn did the only thing she could think of to do, send her child off to bed saying, "Daddy just had a rough day at work..." and when he was old enough for further explanation, she had none, and even if Remus tried to explain, he wouldn't listen... so he removed himself from the stressful situation.

Basically, she's a sad woman stuck in a sticky situation. She's never really labored outside of the usual housework and has never really held a job in her life, so leaving just seems like too big a task for her. She just holds tight to her optimism and prays the next day brings a better one.]

Quote:
How is the mother doing now that Gaddok is gone? Does Gaddok visit occasionally to make sure his mother is alright?

[He does come back. He will always return at some point to make sure Remus hasn't burnt the village to the ground, plus I am hoping to recruit some childhood friends he might have that would live in the area he could return to see.

Aerilyn is of course very sad and lonely that he has left, she will most likely fill this by going out and attempting to mingle with the other women in the village... sort of form a "social hour" at a local pub/inn sort of eatery thing they might have in their little village >>'(words....)]

Remus [Father]- A man Gaddok respects yet loathes at the same time. His father taught him all he knows in a business sense, but he also taught him how to not treat a woman and what not to do as a father. The man is well respected in the village, due to the thorough façade his family puts on, but also as a leader and as a businessman.

Quote:
Why did his father turn so dark after becoming a counselor? Was it the stress from the job, or was he always a dark person and put on a facade in the beginning? Or something else?

[I imagine Remus as being the top guy for trade in his little village. It became so ingrained in him because it was what he had done from his childhood, that it was like second nature basically.

When he got elected for counselor he was given a foreign element he knew nothing about really other than it was the popular vote and they figured he fit the bill. Remus had to learn a trade from politicians which are kind of two faced in a sense... outside of office they can be your best friend, but if you don't see eye to eye with them in office you can expect the cold shoulder. So going from a trade where your personality and charisma is everything, to where you're walking on eggshells trying to get a feel for your fellow counselors, but knowing you can't really rely on any of them.

Remus would become very influenced by people he shares similar views too. Say his family didn't fit his new friends' views... he may lie and pressure his family into covering for him. Since his wife has a passive nature, she cracks under the pressure, and essentially it becomes a "You say Jump, I say How high?" sort of scenario...

And if for example he isn't doing so well in his new job and it would seem his skin deep friends in high places threaten to buy out and ruin his trade business; in a sense ruining his small little village, if he doesn't back them on heated political debates... Pretty soon he's in a similar situation to his wife, but Remus doesn't see that. He sees the fact that when he gets home he finally has something he has control of, and takes full advantage.

Truth be told, if Remus had someone to decompress on and get another viewpoint on his situation this could all be resolved, but he finds that he is far too important to get a second opinion. He's a great business man, but the power went to his head, and now he's stuck in a hole and for some odd reason the only solution he can see is to keep digging...]

Quote:
How did the father treat Gaddok as a child? Was his aggression only towards his wife?

[Remus attempted to pass on the knowledge that his father passed to him, but with the added stress of the counselor position and the growing tension at home he found that any efforts he made to reach out to his son were returned in a cold unfeeling compliance simply to appease the man so Gaddok could go about his day.

He eventually recognized that he had successfully destroyed any chance he had at a father/son relationship, which could definitely add to the tension between him and his wife.

His only hope is that with Gaddok out of the house he can attempt to get a handle on his job and revive the relationship with his wife, who then may tell Gaddok that things are better and if he works it just right he might start a new relationship with his son; it wouldn't be a father/son sort of relationship, but it would be something.

Full Name: [Ruvaak Dragol] Nicknames: [Ru] Race: [Sail Scale]
Gender: [Male] Role: [Mail Delivery] Age: [???] Date of Birth: [???]

RP Color: [ #330033 ]
3 Base Traits: [- Protective – Social - Inquisitive]
Personality: [Ruvaak is quite the character. He is constantly getting into things he probably shouldn’t get his nose into. He tends to be a very curious creature, investigating things that look interesting, whether it desires to be investigated or not.

Despite the fact they would have a curious Sail Scale nosing around, Ruvaak is a social creature. His curiosity gets the better of him sometimes, but in most situations he is well mannered for a familiar; even better mannered when at Gaddok’s side. Ruvaak is aware of certain human emotions, and can respond accordingly. For example, if one were to begin crying, Ruvaak may step up on his back legs and wrap his wings around the person in a hug. If his hug is perceived well, he may even proceed to cuddle the person in an attempt to comfort them. When someone is happy or excited, he will leap and bound about in an excited manner, even chase his tail.

Though Ruvaak seems to bond with other earthlings, he is Gaddok’s familiar through and through. Ruvaak would lay down his life for his owner, and would be hard pressed to abandon his side in a battle. Where Gaddok would have a polite demeanor in the face of frustration; Ruvaak will likely lash out at the person upsetting Gaddok. ]
Likes: [Going traveling with Gaddok, Being helpful, Cheering Earthlings up, entertaining younglings]
Dislikes: [Getting his tail pulled, being made fun of for his homemade attire, being talked down to.]
Hobbies: [Sun bathing, prancing, hanging off of Gaddok,]
Special Abilities/Skills: [His ability to perceive Earthling Emotions]
Occupation(s): [Mail Delivery]
Physical Description: [???]
Clothing: [Embroidered Fur harness with intricate scale shaped décor accompanied with a fur headdress]
Weapons (if any): [His viciously sharp talons, fangs, horns, and whip like tail]

History: [Gaddok came across this peculiar little Sail scale while helping his father replenish his stock. He initially had Ruvaak caged and carried along to many sales, but never could bring himself to sell this particular sail scale; even fought with his father when he tried to interfere. This eventually led to Gaddok ultimately refusing to help his father, and paying him for Ruvaak.

His mother was a bit taken back by Gaddok’s pet. She saw the sail scale as a common food source and never considered them as more than that. Though the first time she began crying at one of Gaddok’s letters and the creature wrapped her in its wings, and then proceeded to cuddle her… She warmed right up to him. Occasionally upon Ruvaak’s return to Iory, Aerilyn would have a new accessory for him, a collar, a vest, harnesses, a headdress. Ruvaak welcomed the affectionate gifts and wears them with pride]
Family: [Ruvaak’s Sail Scale family is unknown, but since joining the Dragol’s he has wormed his way into their hearts and seems right at home being considered one of them.]
Education: [Training with Gaddok on deliveries, and people watching.]
Relationship History: [Ruvaak has developed no crushes thus far~]

This area is reserved for me to attempt to figure out where Gaddok is going in life. These points may change at any given point in time and are more just guidelines to what I would like to happen. If you see a plot you feel your character could fit please send me a private message.

Key Future Plot Points:
۩ ------ Romancing Briinah: At some point, Gaddok is going to find himself faced with a very persuasive pretty young lady who worships the ground he walks on... and it is going to be far too easy to enjoy the comforts her company provides. ** Later development leads to the discovery that Warren is her Brother and they begin their quest to kill the Sermal.
۩ ------ First-Born Sacrifice: In earlier RP Briinah seeks Baba's aid in "Saving Gaddok" from execution (Baba makes a "Ritual" using some of Mash'al's hair to "Influence" him to save Gaddok (in reality he was going to save him anyway~)) When Briinah has children Baba distracts Gaddok by indirectly placing his mother in harm's way and then helps Briinah deliver the children and makes off with the female child.

☺ ------ Friends ☻ ------ Foes ♥ ------ Love Interests
Sexual Orientation: [Straight]
Current Relationship Status: [Plotted with Briinah]
Relationship History: [Love At First Sight: Sathe]

As Gaddok encounters characters of Tendaji, they will be listed under this post. Gaddok's opinion or the nature of your encounter will determine which icon you receive. Two icons will be rewarded to each roleplay you complete with Gaddok. One in the beginning and one in the end.

☺ ------ This is the Friend Icon. Your character will receive one of these for any meet and greet roleplay. If the meeting ends on a good note you will receive an additional friend icon, but if it ends on a bad one you will receive a Foe Icon. If the roleplay so happens to twist enough that there is a romantic interest at the end your character may receive a Love Icon.

☻ ------ This is the Foe Icon. Your character will receive one of these in any negative interaction/ battle roleplay. Just because your character receives one of these Icons doesn't necessarily mean that Gaddok hates you... Just means you had a rocky start.

[Ex1/ Say Gaddok upset you and he has no clue, and you aim to give him a piece of your mind. You will receive a Foe Icon, but if the matter is resolved, say he apologizes and there are no hard feelings then your character will receive a Friend Icon for the ending icon.]

[Ex2/ if your character picks a fight with Gaddok, Even if its sparring, you will be awarded a Foe Icon. However, if it is nothing more than sparring and it ends on a positive note, then you will receive a Friend Icon at the completion of the roleplay. If it is a physical confrontation and it ends on a negative note, then you will receive two Foe Icons.]

♥ ------ This is the Love Icon. Your character will receive this icon if you are a love interest to Gaddok. Most Roleplays will not start with this icon, unless you have had past roleplays with Gaddok that resulted in a Love Icon.

Ex1/ Say your character was pursuing Gaddok as their love interest, and in the last roleplay you expressed your feelings for him. that roleplay would begin with a friend icon and end with a love icon.

Ex2/ Now say he wanted to meet you for a date then that roleplay would begin with a love icon and if everything went well and you both still had feelings for each other it would end with a love icon.

Ex3/ If your date ended and either you or he realized this isn't exactly what they imagined it to be and want to remain friends/ acquaintances(the relationship ended on a mutual standing) the roleplay would start with a love icon and then end with a friend icon.

Ex4/ If your date ended with your character throwing any heavy object avaliable, cursing and screaming his name at the top of their lungs(the relationship ended poorly) the roleplay would start with a love icon and end with a Foe Icon. ** Remember~ This doesn't mean that Gaddok hates you! He may fear for his safety in your presence after this, but its something that can be smoothed over in time!

۩ ------ Warren - ☺☺☺☺☺☺
[x] ☺/☺ - Warren is a beast like man that Gaddok met in Vers, Tale. He seemed to be troubled by a witu that carved up his arm pretty good before escaping. Warren seems to have some insecurities about his appearance, but despite their differences, Gaddok assisted him in bandaging up his arm... he also got in some trouble in Vers.

[x]☺/☺ - After Gaddok's trials in the mountains, Warren stopped by Iroy to visit a friend, get some advice, and ask about a mentor. After some friendly banter Gaddok pointed Warren toward Lon in Dernd.

[x]☺/☺ - On his return trip to Zena Warren drops in unexpectedly. After unloading a lot of heavy baggage on one another, Gaddok baits him into a duel and gets whooped on~ But the important thing Is he's dealing with his issues in a "Healthy Manner~"

۩ ------ Sawenah - ☺ ☺
[x]☺/☺ - A sweet spitfire of a hybrid who is well on her way to being a small busines owner. After reuniting her with her father Gaddok fixed up her vending cart and got her started with his guild of merchants.

۩ ------ Sathe - ☺ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
[x] ☺/♥ - Quite possibly the future love of Gaddok's life; from the moment he laid eyes on her he hasn't been able to get her out of his mind. Hired to do a job collecting clay the task turned into an all day project ending with a kiss. He never collected payment for the job, but if he sees her again then it was all worth it.

[META 5] ♥/♥ - Gaddok came across Sathe when getting some supplies before heading for the front lines in Tale. It was the first time he got to spend time with her since she hired him for a job in Tale. Since it was his first battle - and he was a bundle of nerves as it was - He decided to get something off his chest; he confessed that he had feelings for her. Hopefully after the war he would be able to spend more time with her.

[META 6] ♥/x - After spending some time in the mountains - gone horribly wrong - Gaddok heard of the increased tensions in Tale, and the imminent war at its borders. Rushing for the border Gaddok joined the war effort without question to keep his love safe, and hopefully get word to her that he's alive. Luckily they had a brief encounter, but when the enemy converged on the camp Gaddok made for the front lines.

۩ ------ Kiyelt - ☺☺☺☺
[x] ☺/☺ - While helping his father sell Sail Scales in Zena, Gaddok was approached by a surprisingly friendly Ice Earthling. Despite his quirks, the two hit it off. He also learned that Kiyelt was aspiring to be a beast tamer, and managed to make a few sales as well as a new friend.

[META 5] ☺/☺ Gaddok Met up with Kiyelt in the camp before battle in Tale and prepared for their first battle together.

۩ ------ Ime - ☺
[META 5] Gaddok met an adorable little girl named Ime who kept him company before the initial war against oba, and helped ease his nerves before battle.

۩ ------ Nauwahn - ?
[META 5] A friend of Kiyelt's, whom he briefly spoke with... Something seems a little odd about this fellow, but he can't quite put his finger on it.

۩ ------ Prala - ☻
[x] ☻/ x - A mysterious woman who confronted Gaddok about whittling. Needless to say, he keeps his hobby out of sight of the folks in Tale...

۩ ------ Mash'al - ☻
[x] x/☻ - A Shady Oban who has impeccable timing and connections. Despite getting Gaddok out of being arrested and turned over to Zena he has a feeling Mash'al's Generosity comes with strings attached.

۩ ------

NPC
۩ ------ ♥ Aerilyn/Mother - A petite woman approximately 4'6" with emerald green eyes and torso length tightly curled brown hair. she wears full-length dresses, an apron, and usually no shoes, but will strap some on upon leaving the house. If there is one woman in this entire world that can bend Gaddok to their whim, it's his mother Aerilyn. Gaddok literally lives and breathes- would give life and limb for her without question. His mother is also his greatest weakness... Should anything ominous befall this innocent creature it would literally destroy him.
۩ ------ ☻ Remus/Father - An average man of average build approximately 5' with pale blue eyes and sandy blond crimped hair. Could quite literally be the bane of Gaddok's existence... Definitely the ultimate test of his patience. Remus sees his son as his second in command and Heir to Dragol Trading Co. no matter how many times Gaddok protests taking over.
۩ ------ ☺ Lon/Mentor -
/Grandfather

۩ ------ ☺ Arturo "Art"/ Warped Wood Innkeeper - The perfect man for a tough love coaching, or a refreshing glass of whatever suits your fancy at the time. Artie is a man of few words but always seems to know the right things to do to make it better.
۩ ------ ☺ Paola/Innkeeper's wife - Gaddok's "Mom away from Mom". Paola is the perfect counterpoint to her beloved Artie, she has the loving warm presence, and enough affection to smother any bad day blues~ She would give away her last coin for a smile and opens the inn's doors to anyone in need.
۩ ------ ☺ Lathom - Gaddok's main distributor for the Sauti/Tale Route. A tall, muscular Earthling hybrid (earth/shifter) who is the husband of Avis.
۩ ------ ☺ Avis - An Ice earthling that works as a Distributor for the Zena/Sauti Route and also does some of the major financial tracking for the trade routes. He had been part of the Dragol business since its infancy and is a trusted friend of the family.

Gaddok: Post 1

It was a long trek from Dernd, Sauti. Gaddok's feet ached, but his mind urged them forward as he reached the edge of the ever expanding camp. There were so many people of every race throughout Tendaji; it was truly an inspiring sight to behold. The threat of war was upon us and all the races had banned together to protect their home, but only time would tell if our united force would be enough to hold the enemy behind our border.

Finding a place to rest in the nook of a trunk, Gaddok sunk to the ground with a sigh. His nerves were there, tingling the back of his mind and making his heart race. He starved for the battlefield, the thrill of putting what Lon was teaching him to use, but it was not time to face the enemy quite yet. So taking advantage of this lull, Gaddok pulled out his leather journal, undid the straps holding its pages closed and began to write.

Gaddok: Post 2

Gaddok looked up from his ventures to see a pair of piercing green eyes watching him curiously. His initial feelings were ones of concern and sorrow, but still mustered a smile as he flipped the leather cover over his pages, "Just writing of my travels to my mother. She gets far too concerned if she doesn't get letters regularly. I may not be able to write for a while, and she doesn't know I've joined the war effort." A twinge of guilt pierced his face as he thought of how Aerilyn would react to him sending a letter instead of confronting her outright.

He shuffled to the right a bit giving the child some room to sit if she so pleased, "There's quite a commotion out here. What brings you to the war front?" Gaddok asked feeling himself becoming instinctively protective of this lone little girl. 'Where were her parents, and why weren't they watching after her.' he thought as he began to worry that she was orphaned or lost.

Gaddok: Post 3

Gaddok's smile widened, this girls naive nature eased his nerves and reminded him of his reasons for joining the resistance. "The important stuff is there, I was just trying to sugar coat it for her so she doesn't worry too much." Gaddok was terrible with words and preferred to just say what he wanted to, but his mother was fragile; He's learned to choose his words carefully before delivering "bad news".

"Healing is a delicate art, little miss." Gaddok began, "I'm not well versed in it, but I do know that to be good at it it can take years of practice." Not wanting to discourage the little tyke, he continued, "But some things are easy to make better..." he bit the corner of his lip trying to think of what someone of her age could assist with, "We.... Could try to find a supply tent. Healers need to have supplies to heal boo-boos." He chuckled to himself for using her terminology.

Getting to his feet, Gaddok slipped his journal back into is knapsack, grabbed his sword in his less dominant hand, offering his other to the little girl, "I'm Gaddok, by the way."

Gaddok: Post 4

"Leaf-Wind," Gaddok replied while keeping an eye out for a supply tent."My mother's a Leaf earthling, Father's a Wind, but he would shun me for admitting it. He prefers to think my mother has adopted the societies of wind and abandoned those of her people." He kept his pace shorter so Ime could keep up."I'm babbling again. My father, Remus, is a merchant who's recently taken on the chore of becoming a counselor, which causes him to travel more than usual. My mother, Aerilyn, stays home and keeps the house beautiful. You come from a family of healers, I presume?"

There were rows upon rows of tents, most housing soldiers steeling their mind for battle, honing their weapons, and then there were the occasional tents of those who had already danced on the battlefield. If they were lucky they were brought back here to be patched up. Some were sent back if their injuries weren't bad, others would spend a good portion of their life trying to adjust to their injuries.

Gaddok couldn't keep the feelings for creeping up on him; slowly clawing up his spine and gripping at the back of his mind. He knew he could very well end up like that, and it scared him, but being scared wasn't going to help him on the battlefield. He had to keep a clear mind, had to have control over his emotions; he also had to find something for little Ime to do and this camp was full of pointed objects meant for causing pain, and plenty of lads and ladies that had been victims of those objects.

"Hmmm..." He paused on his way up one of the rows and looked around. Gaddok had completely lost track of what he had been up and where he had been down, everything started to blend together, "Ummm... Let's go left here." He muttered while holding a little tighter to Ime's hand to be sure not to loose her when weaving through the crowd.

A familiar face caught his eye... A few really, "Kiyelt?" He muttered to himself as he peered past a couple passing by hefting supplies in large wooden crates. Those Sailscales of his were pretty indistinguishable.

"I think we may have found something to help with," Gaddok announced as he closed the gap, "Ime, have you ever seen a sailscale. They're fascinating creatures, and I happen to know someone that owns a pair." Catching up to Kiyelt, Gaddok smirked, "What brings you here? Iniu going to chew on some Oba troops?"

Gaddok: Post 5
"Sailscale," Gaddok said for Ime while pointing to the creatures hanging off Kiyelt.

"She's not mine, no, but she was looking for a friend and happened to find me propping up a tree," he chuckled at the notion, "And we became acquainted."

Nearly getting slapped by a flailing Norcrest tail, Gaddok turned to scold the lizard, but was silenced by a woman's echoing voice. Taking Ime's hand, he waved for Kiyelt to follow as they joined the crowd to hear what was going on.

The speech was short and sweet; got right to the point like Gaddok liked. Turning to face Kiyelt he took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, "Well, That's our call. Be seeing you out on the battlefield, I guess."

"Well, Ime, I've gotta get ready to leave this camp, so I'm going to have to bring you to your moma, auntie, or uncle..." Gaddok patted the top of her head and smiled faintly. His nerves were returning and he tried not to tremble, holding her hand tighter almost trying to cling to this slight calm before he was flung into a world he had never experienced before.

This was something he needed to do; not just for himself, but for all of Tendaji, for this little girl and every other child like her. He knew that he alone wasn't enough to change the tides of battle, but if young, able bodied individuals like himself merely relied on someone else to volunteer, our army wouldn't be nearly as immense as it is; which could be enough to change the tides of battle.

Gaddok: Post 6
Gaddok didn't feel comfortable leaving Ime by herself, but he couldn't grab her arm and drag her through every nursing tent until he found her family either. Taking her word for it, Gaddok knelt down to Ime and smiled, "I can't guarantee I won't be injured, but if I do end up back here you'll come visit me, right?"

After getting an answer from Ime he patted her head and stood up, "you take care of yourself, and if you run into trouble you start yelling for me. I'll find you." 'Or die trying...' He thought to himself as he looked around at the more experienced warriors passing through the camp.

“Well then, I need to find a place where I can sort through all the things I brought with me; kind of had to pack on the fly.” He said to Kiyelt before turning to find an empty tent. Dumping the contents of his bag across an empty cot, he began to sort.

His unmentionables were of course concealed in a side pocket and hadn’t fallen from the bag. He had two changes of socks, ripped up cotton shirts for bandages on the go, his journal and stationary with a few envelopes, and several ink pens. Regrettably, he hadn’t stopped at home to get some healing herbs from his mother, but he knew had he stopped he wouldn’t be here now. Placing everything back in his pack, Gaddok slung it over his shoulder and grabbed his sword, “Think we should get some sort of healing salves or potions or whatever the healers will spare us before we head out? I think it might be nice to have something out on the field; even basic healing might save lives in this battle.”

Gaddok peeked out of the tent, looking both ways before stepping out and getting a better look around, “Any idea which way the healing tents are, or are they just disbursed throughout?” He asked Kiyelt while glancing over his shoulder to make sure Norcrest wasn’t trying to n** at his ears.

Gaddok: Post 7
Unsure what caught Kiyelt's eye, Gaddok chuckled, "I'm going to go find some healing supplies. We can meet back up later, okay?" he waved as he began sifting his way through tents, looking for someone who might know where he could get his hands on some basic supplies. Coming to the back side of an open square tent he came upon a familiar sight.

Keeping quiet, Gaddok snuck up behind Sathe and rested a hand on her shoulder, "Any idea where I can get some basic healing supplies?" he asked seeing full well she had everything he could use.

His heart was in his throat, palms becoming hot. There was a tightness in his chest which he associated to the fact that since he left Tale, she had been the first thing on his mind when he awoke and the sole subject of his dreams when he slept. Gaddok had many things he wanted to say; had planned to say to her, but never thought he would get the chance before the war. Now that the opportunity is here, his tongue swelled in his mouth, mind went blank, everything was just evaporating as it came to him.

Trying to cover the panic in his eyes, Gaddok put on his best smile, and prayed the conversations ahead would spark the inspiration to warm his cold feet, and free his heart to speak.

Gaddok: Post 8

Gaddok gently ran his thumb across her fingers,"I... I am going out to war." he spoke in a somber tone, keeping his eyes on her hand, "I want to go, I just..." His eyes drifted to look at the traffic passing by the tent, "I feel like there is something we don't know. It's strange, probably just nerves." he shook his head and met her eyes, "Sorry for my rambling."

True as it was he couldn't stop thinking about how he could go off to fight this war and never see her again, which made him not want to go; cold feet, I suppose. He was here with Sathe, right where he wanted to be. "I'm glad I ran into you before I left." Gaddok smiled and lifted his hand to interlock his fingers with hers, "You're here to help with healing, huh? Maybe getting injured won't be so bad." A joke, clearly, but some truth was in his statement.

It was so peaceful in this moment; something of one of his dreams. Gaddok held her gaze, got lost in this moment. He brushed a few stray bangs from her face, using that as an excuse to graze her cheek, "I know I don't have much time left before we depart, but I have something that needs to be said." He wasn't very good at this part, but it couldn't wait, "Since I left Tale, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you..." he took her other hand, sliding his fingers between hers, and stood up straight, "When this war is over, I would like to see you again."

Gaddok: Post 9

The pressure in his chest subsided, a weight lifted from his shoulders, and for the first time in the last couple of weeks he could take a full breath. Part of his anxiety was lifted and now all he could turn his attention to the war. “I make no promises that I will be uninjured, a bit too optimistic for someone with my “experience”, but I promise I will return; That I can do.” He was flattered at her concern, but figured it best to do his part in distracting her.

Gently pressed his lips to the tips of her fingers, he broke their embrace, “As elated as I am to see the feelings for you are mutual, I should probably return my attention to my excuse for coming in here… Not to mention it will better my odds on returning to you uninjured.” Gaddok indicated to the salves that once held her attention. “I managed to get some worn shirts that I tore up for makeshift bandages, but I’m lacking in the actual healing items. Is there any chance you have extra supplies I could take with me?” He didn’t want to hinder the healers, but if there were minor injuries that could be tended to on the battlefield that would give them an edge, right?

Gaddok got temporarily distracted by the young shifter calling out to the healer crowd. If the healers were gathering together, then it must be nearing time for him to find the warriors fighting in the front lines; not to mention he still had to find Kiyelt. “Well, it looks like things are being set in motion. I had best find my place in all of this, and it looks like they’re calling for you too.” He pointed to the crowd of healers.

Gaddok: Post 10

He let out a laugh as she began loading him down with a bunch of medical supplies. Gaddok wasn't entirely sure he even knew what their uses were, but he was sure they would not go to waste. Stripping off his knapsack, Gaddok began packing away the supplies, then hoisted the pack back onto his shoulders, "I appreciate this, Sathe."

A smile curved his lips as he pulled her close, softly kissing her cheek, "Stay safe as well. Tending to the wounds of the injured will be a harrowing task, though you may not realize it yet." Gaddok met Sathe's eyes, taking her in for one last moment, then slipped out of the tent.

Looking both ways before exiting the tent, Gaddok merged seamlessly into the crowd and began his search, "Kiyelt~!" He hollered over the crowds, making his way from one side of the white sea of healer tents to the other. They had only parted for what seemed like a few minutes, he couldn't have gone far. Gaddok had assumed he would be getting healing supplies as well, but which tent?

"Kiyelt~ We should probably be going..." He proceeded to call while peeking in each tent as he went, "Where have you gone?" He muttered to himself while looking around, suddenly becoming overwhelmed by the number of tents there were to search, and the time that seemed to be slipping through his fingers.

Gaddok: Post 11

Gaddok caught a flailing arm out of the corner of his eye, and turned to find Kiyelt, “There you are.” He stated while shuffling through the crowd to get over to him, “Any idea where we’re supposed to go nex-” he paused and noted the gentlemen Kiyelt was talking to, “I don’t believe we’ve met… I’m Gaddok.” He offered his hand for a shake.

Turning his attention back to Kiyelt, Gaddok continued, “I take it we should report in to the Wind or Ice leader over there for more instruction?” He pointed to the two women chatting in the cluster of soldier that huddled around them, still engaged in their own conversations. “Did you get all the supplies you need before we leave? I assume the only way we get to come back this way before the war is over is if we’re too injured to fight.”

NPC Post 5: - 1/2
Gaddok: Post 12
“And you?” Gaddok replied. He was unsure what to call the joyous gentlemen, there weren’t exactly any chances to properly exchange pleasantries. Perhaps after the war they could converse more.

Alas the war was underway and at the shout of the scouts, Gaddok strapped his knapsack tight to his back and gripped tighter to his sheathed sword, “Well, If I’m not mistaken, I am supposed to be with the scout out there…” He pressed his lips together in frustration of his own lack of observation, “Looks like I have some catching up to do.” He shot a smirk at Kiyelt, “See you on the battlefield,” then took off in a sprint to catch up with the advancing front line.

His mind was numb, though it was hard to think of much else other than what he was running into. Thinking of what he was leaving behind only made him want to turn back and stay. Gaddok knew that the odds weren’t in his favor; an unseasoned warrior who’s barely wielded a sword, let alone taken another man’s life, was marching into a war in the front lines. If there was any way he was going to survive this, it was to keep a level head, a clear mind, and remember what you learned in training.

Closing the gap between him and the rest of the close range combatants he slowed his pace to a jog and melded with the group. ‘Alright, This is it…’ Gaddok told himself while taking in a deep breath and trying his best not to look too nervous.

NPC Post 6: - 1/2

Gaddok: Post 13

Gaddok came up alongside his brothers and sisters in arms. Their combined force made the front lines; Tendaji’s first impression on the enemy. My, what they must think, quite a few of these men and women look not much older than he; He prayed for everyone’s sake they had more training than he did.

Since they had a moment before the war, Gaddok stripped off his knapsack and attached his sword to a baldric, then slung it over his shoulder, being sure to draw the blade before strapping his pack back on. He was physically ready for war. He was armed, his muscles warmed from the jog, but his mind was bogged down with anxiety and fear for what was to come.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gaddok bounced on the balls of his feet trying to relieve some of the anxiety, but to little avail. With each vibration he became more anxious more adrenalin riddled. Gaddok’s fidgeting was quickly silenced as the enemy forces emerged on the battlefield. Few words were spoken, words of surrender most likely; he had no time for it.
The enemy’s leader ordered the charge and a thunderous roar of stampeding feet poured across the battlefield. Gaddok gripped the hilt of his blade, and followed the charge forward.
His blade locked with another. The man’s Fiery eyes fixed on his as a barrage of steel clashed against him. Gaddok held his defensive position, trying his best to keep up with the warriors rage filled attacks, and when the opening presented itself, Gaddok dodged around him, and kicked the man in the rear knocking him farther into his team, to which the man was quickly leapt on and stabbed.
Gaddok then turned quickly enough to meet another set of blades coming at him, he once again blocked, but felt another slice into his arm. Snarling he looked to see a dual blade foe staring him down, “You’re green boy… You don’t belong on this battlefield, Pity.” He snarled while licking the blood from his blade and spitting it to the earth.
Before he had time to process what was happening, his body lurched forward, throwing himself on the Oba soldier; the blade sending jolts of pain up his arm with each clash. Everything was a blur, a red haze was all he saw. His body trembled with rage, and soon he felt his blade stick and slide. There was resistance, but as the haze cleared he saw his blade through the man’s chest.
Gaddok stared into the man’s eyes as time seemed to slow around him. Withdrawing his blade he watched the man stagger forward, grasping for his blade at his feet, “You-” he gurgled as blood boiled up from his throat and poured down his chin. The corpse fell forward, breath expelled. He had done it… Gaddok had killed his first man. First of many no doubt, but the impact is something he would never forget.
Gaddok yanked his sword from a soldier’s chest, as he watched the invaders retreat to the forest edge. Gaining his breath he gave chase with his comrades, only to have it ripped from his lungs as three massive creatures stood ready for battle. ‘How does one fight that?! A sword would be little more than a thistle; a nuisance…’ He stared for a moment in disbelief, his stomach in knots. How could they take this down?
The obvious weaknesses to the creature were twenty feet off the ground; eyes, ears, and the tamers who trained it… Clearly he wasn’t going to be able to impact most of that. The next, being the armor. If they could strip the creature of its armor, or maim a leg, they have a chance at lowering its defenses and bringing the beast to the ground. ‘Could damage be done to the creatures’ bare skin? Well, One way to find out right?’ He thought as he advanced.
Avoiding the flying fragments of earth from the creatures stomp, Gaddok threw himself at one of the creature’s legs. He thrust the blade forward into the creature’s calf and to his surprise, the hide gave… creating a minor gash. ‘Well, its something.’
‘Alright so the beast can take damage, and I suppose all of us at once has to be doing some damage…’ Gaddok looked up to see the creature starting to bleed from all the bee sting of attacks our collective force was doing to it. He gripped the hilt of his weapon and gave it a tug, hoping to break it free from the belly of the beasts muscle, but it refused to give. He tugged again, gripped another hand and gave it a full bodied yank, still it didn’t budge. Gaddok’s cheeks burned a soft red as he placed a foot against the creature’s leg and pulled at the blade continuously and it began to give.
He pulled, pulled, and then suddenly the creatures leg lifted from the earth, ”S***-” Gaddok snarled while gripping tightly to his blade. He was yanked from the earth, was hoisted up twenty feet, and then came crashing back down in a matter of seconds.
Gaddok sat up and beast three was well on its way to the other side of the battlefield. He didn’t remember colliding with the earth, but here he lay, blade in hand and relatively unharmed. He picked himself up, groaning and aching the whole way, dusted himself off and looked around to get a sense of where he was on the battlefield.
The beast plowed by as though he had done no damage, but his blade was sent flying from his hand, so it must have impacted. A bit embarrassed by being unarmed so easily, Gaddok rushed to find his blade a few feet away and mere inches from some trampled earth. So far it would seem Gaddok has been blessed with beginners luck. He armed himself and prepared for the next attack.
Gaddok could see the beasts were on the defensive now. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt as he raised his sword and drove it into the beasts leg. They were under the command of foolish earthlings who trained them to do their bidding. It sickened him to see them driving these beasts forward into battle until their deaths.
Withdrawing his sword from the beasts leg, Gaddok brushed his blood-soaked hair out of his face, stood back and waited. It was just a matter of time before the creatures were dispatched, and he would take great pleasure in getting answers from these trainers who demanded these creatures' deaths as well as the lives of many of his fellow soldiers.
Gaddok brought up the rear off the field. He was uninjured, but a few scrapes and bruises, the least he could do is hold off any following Oba so others could make it back to camp. Everything happened so fast, he didn’t have much time to process, his body moved purely on instinct. Keeping his head down, his arms straight to his side, Gaddok drug himself into the hectic bustle of camp. They were packing up and moving farther into Jauhar, he assumed.
Catching a glimpse of his war worn body in the reflection of a puddle he closed his eyes in disgust. Blood smeared across his face, speckled his clothing, and coated his hair… Yet somehow he remained unharmed. He watched the injured lean on one another as they followed the crowd. His gut churned as he couldn’t help but feel a hint of guilt. Had he not done enough? Could he have done more? The thoughts bombarded his already fraying mind.
No time to focus on what could have been done. Pushing himself forward, Gaddok looked over the crowd and caught the glimpse of a familiar sight, “Sathe…” He breathed. It was good to see she was alright. Sheathing his sword he tried to wipe some of the dried blood from his face, and then sprinted on the outside of the crowd to catch up. Only losing sight of her once, Gaddok came up behind them and noticed a mage he had seen on the battlefield dragging along an injured Ice girl.
He came up between Sathe and what appeared to be a sibling, “Would you like some help with her?” Gaddok phrased his statement as a question, but there was a hint of demand in his voice. He hoisted the Ice girl into his arms and cradled her, “I’m sorry if this hurts you, but do your best to relax. I’ve got you.”
His eyes met Sathe’s briefly, and gave a soft smile, “It’s good to see you’re safe.” His words were sincere, though he doubted it showed. Gaddok was mentally and physically exhausted, but there was no way he would let it show. He was far better off than most and would do anything asked of him to assist in any way.
Turning to look at the mage he forced a chuckle, “I didn’t mean to be rude earlier, but you looked like you could use the help.” Gaddok knew there would be time to exchange pleasantries when they got to wherever they were going… “Where exactly are we going?”
Chapter 6: Alliance
Gaddok: Post 1
Location: Outskirts of camp(Just Arriving)---> Heading toward Healing Tents
'Free at last~' Gaddok thought as he stretched out his arms. It's been a long trip from Iory to the Tale/ Jauhar border, but he finally made it... Luckily he had a traveling companion to keep him company. The Sailscale uncoiled from his shoulder and flaunted about in his new attire; a parting gift from his mother. Gaddok's mother hadn't been pleased with his departure, but was fortunate he actually took the time to say his goodbyes; Learned his lesson.
The last few months has found Gaddok bedridden from a horrific accident in the Mountains of Sauti. His wounds have closed, bones healed, but his muscles ached; from travel he told himself, but deep down he knew he wasn't 100%. Recovering was hard on him, sitting in bed all day taking orders from a snarly healer that didn't have time for "opposing views". Gaddok was patient, He followed orders to a T and with very little complaint... He had a mission: "Get to Tale." And finally all that paid off.
Standing at the edge of town Gaddok had one topic on his mind... Sathe. There were many things swirling around his busy mind, but he knew he wouldn't get answers until he was able to see her for himself. Knowing she would be at the healers tent, He didn't waste time making his way across camp to the Healing Tents to try his luck at finding her.
Gaddok: Post 2
Location: Healing Tents ---> Talking with Sathe
There were a number of healing tents all clustered in a row. Gaddok peeked in each one going down the line until he caught a glimpse of her. Stepping out of sight he caught his breath and held tight to the vial dangling from his neck. He felt his heart pulsing in his chest, his stomach was twisting in knots; he was nervous... It wasn't a good feeling like he normally had in her company. There was uncertainty between them; at least from his standpoint. The letter he wrote- letters he wrote, yet received no reply. She occupied almost every waking thought, and was a constant visitor of his dreams. She was his motivation to heal and what drove him to make the trip to Tale. Gaddok had to see her, had to know she was alright, that the war hadn't claimed her, that she hadn't been taken captive.... And now he had.
Since he had seen her he knew… He knew she was safe; she wasn’t captive, or a casualty. She had been home and well… So why didn’t she reply? Tighter and tighter the knots twisted in his stomach. How had this been so difficult? He’s charged headstrong into battle with only the basic knowledge of swordsmanship, and emerged unscathed. He’d faced some of the most formidable foes in the Sauti Mountains, and lived against all odds; yet talking to a woman he had earlier talked so freely to has him cowering outside the tent?
‘There has to be an explanation,’ he told himself. Taking in a deep breath, he ducked into the tent and exhaled slowly. Gaddok made his way across the tent, with each step he felt his heart rate increase until he was certain it was about to burst out his chest. Standing but a few paces away he cleared his throat and managed to say, “Glad to see you’re well.”
Her voice brought an instant smile to his face. taking one of her hands in his he placed the other over top, "I tried to write... The first letter I had the healer write; wouldn't hold still 'til she did, or at least that's what she told me." He looked out of the tent at the sound of the announcement, but turned his attention back with a casual smile. Whatever they were saying he could hear from someone else later.
"I didn't realize things were this bad..." He breathed exasperatedly, "I was training to regain my strength when I caught word of Neued's fall." Stroking the top of her hand gently he continued, "Wasn't long after that I strapped on my pack, grabbed my sword and told Ma, "I have to go.". She wasn't thrilled with my decision, but well... I'm here." Gaddok met her eyes and brushed a lock of hair behind her delicately pointed ears, "and so are you." his voice turning to a soft purr.
Gaddok's nerves settled, his pain, fears, anxiety melted away, and he pulled Sathe into his arms, "I was so fearful for you... I couldn't think of anything else. When I heard the Obans were moving for Tale its like- like they came from halfway across the world and somehow opened a portal to your doorstep and-" He let out a deep sigh of frustration, "And I wasn't able to get to you..."
NPC Battle Post 2: 1/1
Gaddok:
Attacking: Downward Slash Arwa 1
15(+8.)= 23 hit! ----> 10(+8.)/2= 9(+3)= 12 Damage to Arwa 1
Gaddok let out his breath slowly; he had to shake his nerves. It's true he hadn't really trained; leta lone touched his sword in a great deal of time since his incident in the mountains, but that doesn't excuse leaving yourself open to attack...
Thankfully the resistance eradicated the vanguard, but that brought forth an old friend; the Arwa. Gaddok watched as the creatures advanced and toppled into each other. there was something wrong, but he paid no mind to it. the faster these beasts were felled the faster he could return to his life... Into battle he charged, landing a swift clean blow to the confused creature.
NPC Battle Post 3: 1/1
Gaddok: Post 2
Attacking: Arwa 1
Hit/Miss
Damage: Self Inflicted (7(+8 )/2=7.5/4=)-1.875
Gaddok felt as though he was finally getting back into the swing of things; his last blow connected, but wasn't exactly critical. gathering air into his lungs he charged down the battlefield at the first Arwa and intended to connect a blow on the creature's leg, when it began taking a step. he twisted and raised his blade to make it connect, but it deflected off a scale and sent an awful vibration up his arm causing him to drop his weapon. The vibration was painful and numbing his arm, gathering his weapon he stepped out of range to try and gather his thoughts in hopes he could steel his mind for the remainder of the battle.
NPC Battle Post 4 1/1
Gaddok razz ost #
Rolled: 2 & 12
Attacking: The General and Her Entourage
Hit/Miss 2(+8 )= 10
Damage: 12(+8 )/2= 10 Damage to G&E
Gaddok watched the creatures staggering about the battlefield and couldn't help feel pity for the creatures. He struggled morally with the decision to attack again when:
“Be cautious! Reinforcements are on the horizon. Do not let them take you by surprise!”
Turning his attention away from the creatures Gaddok saw an elite guard charging down the battlefield towing the Oban banner; fighting them is something he could stand behind. Gripping tight to the hilt of his blade he turned to charge the entourage and their general. His blade intertwined with several men before he was locked into battle with one.
He was a gruff burly man with his hair wrapped neatly into a scarf adorned, or rather held together, with a jeweled pin. Gaddok had never scene something so... ridiculous. 'Why on earth would someone wear that giant ball of fabric on their head in an arid dry climate? That is what oba is like, right?'
He felt his mind trailing off, when the tang of his blade brought his attention back. Through his time in bed he had found himself passing the time with day dreams, and unfortunately it had become habit as it turns out; a rather dangerous habit to be having in the midst of battle.
deflecting a few of the mans blows, Gaddok locked their blades, and pushed the man back then stabbed forward cutting a deep gash into the man's arm. He hissed at the pain, but kept up his stance, waiting for an opening to strike.
