The Rider Name: Dizzian Age: 21 (as of 11/9/13) Gender: Female Sexual Orientation: Straight Craft/Rank: Wingrider History: She grew up in the Weyr with her parents. Her father Donian is a Journeyman Beastcrafter and helps care for the Weyr's wherry herd. Her mother Izira is also a Weaver. She is currently teaching her daughter her craft as both make cloth for basic supplies like blankets, clothing and bandages for the Weyr. Dizz often gets pegged for baby sitter duty and will find herself in charge of a handful of children at a time as their parents go about their work for the day or just relax without the noise of younglings about. She's stood to Impress at a few clutches now since being Searched. The apparent lack of interest from dragon-kind has been hard on her so far. It's an emotional roller coaster every time a clutch is laid. Even with telling herself not to she gets her hopes up and starts 'planning' out her future since THIS time will be it. When it passes and even the Atypicals have been and gone she stands yet again, alone on the Sands. This sends her into a long down period. She then resigns herself back to weaving until the next time a Gold or Crimson rises. Description: Dizz is 5'4" and 145lbs with fair skin. Her hair is dark brown and not quite straight, it tends to curl and flip up at the ends, some in towards her face, some out to her shoulders. She has blue eyes and a faint flush across her cheeks and nose that grows more prominent when she's feeling a strong emotion. Dizzian usually wears the same outfit every day, knee-length pants and tunic tied with a crocheted belt. The colors will change depending upon her mood but the style pretty much stays the same. She's not particularly partial to shoes but will wear sandals when necessary. Personality:Dizzian is usually in one of two modes, each at opposite extreme's of the emotional spectrum. You're lucky if you find her in the middle and feeling sedate. She can be incredibly hyper and happy and gogogogogo. In this mode she'll not want to do anything serious and getting her to focus on work is difficult at best. She is EASILY distracted at these times. She'd rather joke and laugh and play silly. She'll say No! to the simplest of requests even if she fully intends upon doing it, just for the sake of arguing. It can get annoying. About the only thing that can hold her in one place at this point is her knitting or a book. On the other hand, when she's feeling down she gets snippy and reclusive and a overly dramatic. She doesn't like to talk about her feelings, she doesn't want to work it out or solve the problem. She wants to be left alone until she calms down. She doesn't yell or fight when she's angry. If she's upset she usually just clams up and doesn't say anything and her face goes blank. If you push her far enough she'll burst into tears though. She's prideful, she doesn't like to admit when she's done or said something wrong. If you call her out on it It's almost an instant switch into down mode. She DOES have calm moments. When she's feeling 'normal' she wants to be helpful and can be a hard worker. In a small way this is to make up for her behavior in her manic modes. In general Dizzian's a nice friend as long as you can tolerate her mood swings. She loves her friends no matter how new and is incredibly loyal right from the get go. It takes some effort to break her trust, she wants to believe in the best of people and will turn a blind eye or forgive too quickly. Once her trust in you is broken it's gone. There has yet to be a person to truly earn it back though some have returned to a 'friend' state. She is especially blind when it comes to love interests. She's happy letting others make big decisions but wants to feel like she has control over what she's doing. If someone starts to fight her on it she'll concede and let them have their way. Dizzians reactions under stress vary depending upon her mode. When up she can respond quickly and even take the lead in a situation. If she's down though she can panic and go into a mental shut down, needing someone to direct her every actions. She tends to get along with boys better than girls though she's not opposed to having female friends. She's a natural flirt and will flirt with either gender though it's mostly meaningless and just for fun. She's only interested in male relationships. Dizz MAY sleep with a girl if the opportunity arises just to try it once. She's aware of her mood wings and personally hates them. She can recognize when one hits her and is conscious of the change but she feels out of control when it comes to stopping it. Other: Dizz won't readily admit it but her eyesight is not the best. She gets by in the day to day world just fine but sometimes you can catch her squinting to see fine details or see something far away. Fighting Stats:HP: 25 Atk: 1D6 + 1 Def: 1D4 + 1 Acc: -3

The Dragon Green CourathAge: 4 (as of 11/26/13) Personality: If there was a dictionary on Pern - then Courath's picture would be featured next to the words patient and understanding. A practical beast for the most part she is well aware that others sometimes have problems and behond those problems lay very valid reasons (even if those reasons are only valid in their own minds). As such she does not see the point in beating them up about it but instead offers support and compassion during the tough times and strength and courage to improve during the good times. Courath swells in a place of deep inner strength and 'can't' is simply not a word in her vocabulary, Courath can and will do anything she sets her mind to and she's brave enough to fly to the sun...and patient enough to wait until she has a good plan so that she can pull it off too. Although soft of voice when Courath's words are made of steel, she means what she says and she says what she means..she just does so when it will do the most good and in an empathetic manner. Really it does no good to fuss at someone when they are in the midst of an emotional outburst..so she'll wait patiently for that to pass, offering comfort to calm someone down... and then kindly offer her opinion on things when said person is in a more rational mindset. When it comes to love Courath is likely to be a quiet creature - she might not rise often but she'll make it count when she does and is likely to be more prone to picking the underdog to win when she can - if only to give the boy a bit of confidence. It's unlikely that she will approve of the larger more bullying personalities when it comes to males...or other humans for that matter and she certainly won't approve of those types as friends for her's. Bullies as far as she is concerned are just cowards in hiding and she doesn't much like cowards. Why Me?: While some dragons might not be able to handle Dizzian's mood swings and yo-yo like temper - Courath is one of the ones who can and the green certainly recognized this when she made her choice. The balancing nature of this greens fairly quiet and constant temper can only be a good thing for Dizzian and Courath truly desires to help those who deserve it. Beneath Dizzian's mood swings and seemingly dual personality Courath see's someone who is brave enough to handle them and in those moments when her temper isn't getting the best of her Courath is aware of her desire to help others and work hard to do so. Her loyalty to her friends is a deep draw to the green who sees such qualities as something worth being a part of and yet her's is wise enough to let that loyalty go to an extreme and get taken advantage of those who might try to do so. In Dizzian Courath see's someone who is both opposite and similar to herself, perhaps the girl can help Courath to let go and get wild once in a while...or at least allow her typically quiet nature to take a bit of a break. Sometimes...maybe..it's something Dizzian will likely have to work at - just as Courath will help Dizzian learn patience and hopefully act as a balancing point for her riders otherwise sporadic mood. The Flits Green TweakerAge: 2 turns (as of 5/9/12) Obtained: Gifted to her from her parents Flights:Personality: As her name suggests this little girl is hyper. She doesn't sit still for long at all, even when asleep. She loves to chitter and move about and get into everyone's business. She can be found riffling through drawers or digging into pockets in search of anything that catches her fancy. Dizz is often having to return 'stolen' objects back to their proper owners. Blue SpazzAge: 2 turns (as of 5/9/12) Obtained: Gifted to her from her parents Flights: Lady - 3 eggs, Personality: Spazz and Tweaker are two peas in a pod. Both equally talkative and energetic. While she likes to snoop and steal, Spazz likes to play. He'll grab at something in your hand and play tug-o-war or keep away if he can pry it from your grip. He and Tweaker are often seen chasing eachother about the Weyr causing a scene when one takes something from the other. Green FreakAge: Hatchling (as of 8/10/12) Obtained: From Lady and Spazz's clutch Flights:Personality: Freak is an interesting little green. At one moment she's just the sweetest little love bug, perfectly willing to curl up with you and get all the pets. In a heartbeat she'll pull a complete one-eighty and turn on you like you killed her mother. Dizz isn't sure what if anything at all sets the girl off or if she's just mental.

Friends and Foes S'kiro, Rider of Blue NeptanthStatus: Friend Opinion: He's still one of my best friends. I'm hoping things don't change now that we're grown. Optheli, Rider of Green DynithStatus: Friend Opinion: Amunet, Rider of Black SethStatus: Acquaintance Opinion: I don't know what to think about her...She was a little insulting when I met her but I don't know if it was intentional or not. F'iar, Rider of Blue SolathStatus: Friend Opinion: Part of a trio of blueriders that always seem to be together. He Impressed at the same time as I did, and Solath caught Courath in her maiden flight. He's a really nice guy and I like him, but it's been complicated between He, S'kiro and I. I'm hoping we can all remain just friends whatever happens. Ky't, Rider of Green HermithStatus: Acquaintance Opinion:Selene, Rider of Crimson TessthStatus: Acquaintance Opinion:Aislin, Rider of Crimson LovethStatus: Friend Opinion:Hekate, Rider of Silver DevithStatus: Best Friend Opinion: She's amazing, I love this girl! Seriously though, she's my best friend and I don't know what I'd do without her. I owe her so much for being there when I need her. She really is an amazing person. I understand now why Devith chose her over any of the candidates. Syn, Rider of Green GementhStatus: Friend Opinion: She's my bunkmate and so far it's been fun! D'lin of Bronze PlexithStatus: Wingleader Opinion: It was a hard choice for Courath and I but I'm really happy under his leadership. Courath wants to look into moving up in the ranks... I'm rather happy where we are but we're talking about it. Cissal, CandidateStatus: Aquaintance Opinion: I've seen him around for years, I think he's been a candidate for as long as I have. He's a notorious trouble maker though. I kinda want to get to know him better.

The soft thumping of the loom was a calming noise. In the late morning of a distinctly warm day Dizzian was singing to herself and working away. While her hands were calm and sure, the bouncing of her leg betrayed her inner excitement. Even through her rider's illness Brakiath had risen and there was a clutch on the sands! Dizzian's mind was racing with the possibilities, her body on auto-pilot as it worked. This time she would Impress! She'd get her life partner and join a fighting wing and they'd be amazing together!
What If she Impressed a Crimson with the ability to clutch? The thought was exciting and intimidating at the same time. She'd probably choose to be a fighter, with how rarely they clutched she'd be afraid of feeling useless as they waited for her dragon to mate. She'd heard a fighting crimson was voted wingleader up at Malvren. While she loved the large ruby dragons, their forceful personalities in the end scared her. She wouldn't complain about Impressing one though! No one ever complained about Impression no matter what color. She thought the candidates who bragged about what color they wanted or 'were sure to Impress' were silly. No one knows who the dragons will pick and those who try to force the issue were generally taught a quick if not final lesson. She'd seen her fair share of maulings and even deaths on the sands. Dizzian was thankful she'd never got worse than scrapes and scratches herself. She followed the Candidate Master's instructions very clearly every time, in hopes of Impressing.
She'd of course entertained the thought of being a queen rider at some point since she started Standing. What girl didn't? Still she didn't feel that role was right for her either. She wanted to be a fighter! Dizzian paused in her thinking to switch shuttles. She was making a large blanket with bands of all the Wing's colors bordered by Trine maroon. She didn't know who it would go to in the end, she'd probably just give it to her mother to sell and pocket a couple marks for herself.
New color in place she went back to her day dream. Bronzes were of course out of the question. She snorted at the absurd thought of riding a Bronze dragon. Oh yeah, THAT would go over well. Silver on the other hand was a possibility. With such small eggs on the sands it was possible there would be more atyps than normal. She could see herself riding a silver dragon, they were impressive fighters, too bad that long flame couldn't be bred into the other colors. Silver's didn't fly to mate though.
Brown was also out of the question. While she'd always been a little curious about what it'd be like with another girl she knew for a fact she loved boys. Dizzian grinned. She loved boys a LOT. Now if only she could actually get herself a boyfriend who wanted more than just a physical relationship. She wasn't going to risk getting pregnant till she'd either Impressed or aged out. Children if she ever had them were FAR in her future.
Black was another likely option. She liked them, their energy appealed to her and like the little whites, their extra sense when going between was much sought after. Training would be a breeze! She wouldn't have to worry about merging herself with a tree or coming out on top of another dragon. She spared a passing thought of Amunet and Seth which in turn lead her to S'kiro. She really liked him and Neptanth. They were nice to her and Neptanth approved of her as a candidate! They say blues are the best Search dragons so if he said she was a good match for dragonkind then she MUST be destined to be a dragonrider! He'd certainly given her quite the soft spot for blue dragons.
Maybe she'd be a greenrider? That was certainly a pleasant thought. They were kind of the best of all worlds. Green's were known for their flirtyness which suited Dizz just fine. (She thought again of the funny way S'kiro blushed) And they were the most agile fighters. She wouldn't have to sit and watch the other dragons rise to glory while hers sat idly at home waiting till she got proddy again. There were plenty of girl and boy among both the green and blue dragons so either way she'd have her pick.
Whites....just confused her. How could something be neither male nor female? What would she call it? Their Time sense was legendary but all the riders were forbidden to Time it so what was the point? Anyways it was incredibly unlikely she'd ever see one. Malvren had one but with the way the Weyrs were fighting it was doubtful she'd ever go there. Of all the dragons Whites were probably the only one's Dizzian was hesitant about Impressing.

What if I don't Impress again? Mom and I have been fighting again recently. It seems like we always do when there's a clutch on the sands. This time is different though. Thread is back and she's practically begging me not to try anymore. She wants me to finish my training at the WeaverHall and leave the Weyr altogether. She doesn't understand though! Yes Thread is scary and yes there's a chance I could die but I don't want to make bandages for the rest of my life! I don't want to feel helpless when we have to run indoors and take shelter every time a Fall occurs over the Weyr. I want to be out there DOING something. I want to be the hero! I've heard that some candidates have left the Weyr, afraid of Impressing now that it's no longer fun and games. I don't know how they could give it up so easily. I won't. I don't care what she says, I'm an adult now and I will Stand till I can't anymore. I've told her that already.
I'm thinking about moving to the Candidate barracks for good. I can't stand listening to her day in and day out anymore. She's driving me sharding mad and it's just not worth it anymore.

Impression:Quote: The Charge-on! Egg - Touching this egg insites a sense of bold bravery, it's around middle size for this clutch but oddly you get the feeling that it's got the bravery of a bronze lurking beneth the surface. Despite the bold brave feeling you get at first a lingering hand might get the impression that this little hatchling is waiting for the perfect moment to makes it's arrival. The Charge-on Egg was Dizzian's next target. "Oh! Well you're ready to take on the world aren't you?!" It was the first time this clutch she'd spoken out loud to the eggs. She liked the spunk this one had but even though the egg itself was small she wouldn't be surprised to find a small bronze in there or at least a brown. Either way that little guy would be a handful to train. Just as the Candidates were getting settled, the Charge-On egg rolled and knocked against the Deep Thought egg, causing both to crack somewhat. The Deep Though wiggled in response but before that dragonet could poke a leg or an arm out, the Charge-On egg had apparently decided that now was the time to make its grand entrance. The egg burst and the shards of the shell slid down the dragon's body as the little green flexed with all her might. Shaking her wings out she looked up and snorted, a little goo bubble popping off her snout as she surveyed the Candidates. Unsteady at first, she toddled this way then that, then finally seemed to pick a direction and wobbled, new wings still dragging on the ground, towards the girls. The steps grew more determined, more sure as she continued on, her head rising and a determined expression on her newborn face. Hers was HERE she was sure of it! Calling out, she flapped her wings to little effect and stumbled on through the first row of girls, ignoring most of them completely. The Green continued on through the girls and perked when she at last spotted Hers. All but running through the sand, she hurried along, almost bumping into Nawa as the girl shied away, and reared up to place her hands on the girl's thighs, big eyes whirling red and green and blue with hunger. ~Dizzianmine, your Courath knew you were here! Take Yours to eat now? ~The little green was heading towards her! Dizzian kept a wary eye as the pale little beauty took off, bumping into another of the candidates. Dizzian raised her arms defensively as the green reared, pausing only as the gentle claws landed on her thighs and those whirling eyes looked up at her. ~ Dizzianmine, your Courath knew you were here! Take Yours to eat now? ~Dizzian cupped the newborn head in her palms tears rolling down her eyes. "My Courath....Oh Courath!" She dropped to her knees, sobbing almost hysterically as she clung to the green's little neck. "You don't know how long I waited for you!" Couranth crooned, her eyes slowly spun green as she rubbed her head against Dizzian's cheek. ~ I am here now Mine. Shhh don't fret so. ~ Her voice was soothing, not at all what Dizzian had expected from such an explosive entrance. She pulled back, a silly grin on her face as her sobs dissolved into hiccups. ~ Better now? ~ She headbutted Dizzian's chest, nudging her to her feet. "Haha yes! How could I not be now that you're here!" Dizzian took the hint though as she realized she could feel a shadow of Courath's hunger in herself. There was no denying the bubbling euphoria as she realized for the first time she would be the first to leave the Sands rather than the last!

(Man I feel like this is horribly written...but I don't want to fix it right now. Just want to get it done)
"Well the bones feel like they've set well. Tell me, does it hurt when I press here?"
Dizzian looked to Courath, then shook her head. "She says it's tender but doesn't actually hurt." Her heart fluttered in her chest, anxiety writing it's tell tale lines across her face. The scarring across her dear green's side was, well, ugly. The membrane puckered and rippled where it melded into her hide, the dark green mottled with paler scar tissue. Still, the healer's prognosis was favorable. She could stretch her wing out fully, and the joint had lost no mobility, though it was weak from disuse. She may not fly as quickly as the rest of her clutchmates but there was no reason to think she'd be grounded forever.
"Good. We'll leave the splint off now but I don't want to see her over exert herself. Stretch it daily but be gentle. Don't pull until it hurts." She looked over the green's wing again, trailing her fingertips along the puckered edge. "We might go back in later and make an incision here, and here, to smooth those ripples. A few stitches and another sevenday of healing ought to take care of them." The healer turned to Dizzian and grabbed her shoulder. "Don't worry. You both were quite lucky." To Courath she added. "You're the perfect patient Courath. I only wish other dragons were as calm as you!"
A touch of Courath's nose made the healer blush. She giggled almost nervously before making shooing motions with her hands. "Go on now, get some sun and a touch of exercize. You both need it!"
Dizzian felt the weight that had resided in her chest lift as they left the Healers tent, finally they were free! Courath's eyes practically glowed as the green followed her rider out. She couldn't keep her wings still, fluttering them gently and reveling in the ability to move again. Never would she consent to staying in a healers tent again so long as she could help it. She'd had enough!
Their celebration was interuppted by the arrival of a young lad wearing beastcraft apprentice knots. He ran right up to them and, gasping between sentences, made his request. "Please miss! Are you Dizzian? I was told to give this to the girl with the injured green." Courath snorted at the description, the beastcrafter didn't even flinch, only grinned further. " Came by flitter to the Master and he said you'd want to see it!" With that he handed a slightly crumpled roll of hide to her and gave a sloppy salute, trotting off back towards the remains of the stables, duty discharged.
Dizzian gave an odd look to Courath, almsot afraid to open the letter. Her anxiety was back making her blood pound in her ears. She didn't want to open it...if it had come from the beastcrafters...she hadn't seen her parents since before the revolution. No word had come of their bodies found or whether they still lived. In her initial concern over Courath's survival she hadn't been able to fully address their loss, but as they convalsesed in the infirmary, she'd dwelled on it far too long. She was sure this letter held their fate.
A wave of gentle support washed through Dizzian's mind, calming her trembling body. ~ Open it Mine. We both need to know. ~ Dizzian thanked what lucky stars had brought her Courath and nodded, tears already spilling from her eyes. Slowly she unrolled the hide. She could only take in the first few lines before her vision blurred to much to read further, sinking to her knees she draped herself on Courath's neck, sobbing hystericly into her soft green hide.
Courath, connected so closely to Dizzian as she was, didn't need to ask what the letter had said. Dizzian's parents were alive. She crooned softly, rubbing her face on Dizzian and whuffing into her hair. As her sobs began to quiet, Courath nudged her into sitting up. ~ What else does it say?~
Dizzian rubbed her eyes and nose on the sleeve of her shirt, picking up the letter from where it had fallen and squinting to make out the rest of the words. "They're back at mom's Hold... Dad was injured in the first wave of fighting...and they fled with an older rider before our people got back to fight the whers off. They're staying with my mother's family till dad heals." She took a shaky breath. It was almost too much good news for her to bear. Her dad had borrowed a friend's firelizard to send a letter to his Master at Trine, asking for news of the weyr and his daughter. The Master had already alerted her dad to her condition and this was her father's response, addressed to her. "I need to send them a letter... "
~ Do that Mine, then we will eat out in the sun. I want to swim more than anything right now ~
"Yeah... see if Hekate and Devith want to join us." She brightened with a hysertical laugh. " I can't wait to tell her!"
