Lakeside - Trine Weyr - Mid Afternoon - Sunny
Finally! With a whoop Dizzian charged down the sand towards the lake shore, sand flying under her bare feet. She'd spent the morning babysitting and was so sick of being indoors she was sure she'd go mad. She just short of flew down to the lakeside after the last mother picked up her child. This was a rather common occurrence for Dizz on her good days. In her spare time if she wasn't bolting for the nearest body of water she'd be harassing the herdbeasts and her father or climbing trees in the surrounding forest. Dizz had an overwhelming need to be active. Her outerwear lay strewn on the ground behind her, leaving her only in a loose tank and undershorts. She had forgotten sandals in her haste to get outside. She splashed in about thigh deep before diving underwater and watching crustaceans scuttle away from her. At least today she'd gotten out before her mother could try and rope her into weaving for the rest of the evening.

S'kiro was out at the lake about to give Neptanth's hide a good scrubbing. The large blue dragon was out in the middle, floating around with the flits doing their aerial dance. "Neptanth, come on. We need to get that dry patch I found on you."
Mine, come join us. You said the spot was easy to reach. His voice soft and teasing in his riders head. The dragon ducked his head into the water, grabbing some fish before the others thought of it.

Dizzian surfaced and blew her hair out of her eyes. She saw the blue dragon swimming beyond and grinned. Like most weyrbrats she idolized the dragons and their riders. Dizz had been standing at Hatchings for 5 turns now and had yet to Impress. The disappointment got a little sharper each time but she still had a few turns before she was too old. Until then she would learn her trade and help out around the weyr when told. Still, every opportunity to be near and interact with a dragon was a good one. Dizz swam back to shore and waved to S'kiro. "Hello! Do you want help?"

N'var grinned as Novath dove into the lake sending water flying everywhere heedless of who else might be around. If there was one thing the young man could say about the blue, it was that he never did anything with other people in mind. Novath! How many times do we have to go over this? Look before you leap. You just got everyone else soaked. So? It is time for my bath, and if they did not want to be wet, they should not be so close to the lake. He sighed and looked around sheepishly at the others. "Sorry. Novath can be a bit overexcitable." He waved to S'kiro before turning to glance back over his shoulder to make sure his sister was still nearby.
She sat propped against a rock, just outside of the splashzone created by Novath. In her lap sat yet another journal which she was busy filling with more of her neat and tiny handwritting. She looked up once, to shoot an irritated look in the direction of her brother's bonded before going back to her work.

S'kiro turned as Dizz came up. "Sure. Any and all help is welcomed with him." He remember asking to help with dragons as a candidate. He reached to grab another brush, when he go soaked again from another blue.
Laughing at Neptanth's clutchmate, he returned the wave. "No worries, N'var." Neptanth turned his large head towards Novath. Novath, are you here to swim too? Mine says I have a dry patch, but it doesn't itch. He looked over at His and rolled over so that S'kiro and Dizzian could get to scrubbing his hide.

Dizz was about to thank S'kiro when she was knocked to the ground by the wave of water. She came up sputtering and laughing as sand clung to her face and hair. "It's ok! I was already wet!" She picked up a scrub brush and turned back to Neptanth. Usually getting her to work was a hassle at best. Dragons equaled play time in her mind though, albeit she wasn't raising one herself. Excitement swelled within her as she placed her hands on the blue's warm hide, applying the brush and sand gently. She could count this as chores too so she wouldn't get chewed out for ditching the entire afternoon! Dizz grinned, loosing herself in a daydream about swimming with the blues when they were done scrubbing.

Neptanth rumbled approvingly at Dizz's scrubbing. Two people working on his hide was wonderful and he didn't have to do much work. Even the flits were looking after him some, or at least that is what he thought when little pieces of fish dropped into his large maw. Mine, I can see why she was chosen for a candidate. Before another thought came to him, his eyes turned a deep blue and he turned to watch the humans scrubbing his hide.
S'kiro splashed at the blue and laughed. "You will get to prove yourself, my dear." He turned to Dizz, "Neptanth wants to tell you that he approves of you and wishes you luck with Impressing." The blue rider was at ease with the few that were around.

A shadow flickered quickly across Dizzian's face but she shook it off and smiled gratefully. "I hope so!" She blushed with pleasure at the praise from Neptanth. "Thank you Neptanth" She couldn't help feeling a small stab of envy for the two of them. Neptanth's approval brought that familiar hope back to her heart though. She still had a few more turns before she had to give up her dreams of being a dragonrider and with the dragons rising to mate so frequently she'd have plenty of chances! " I hope I Impress one as sweet as you!" She grinned as she rinsed the sand off of him with handfuls of water.
