||.Casia
Name: Casia Greystone Nicknames: Cassy (Anna), False Alarm (Merroth) Age: Child D.O.B: 5.1.07 Species: Siren Gender: Female Likes: Flying, birds, clouds, dawn, warm blankets, cold winters, music, singing, strange stories, collecting things, and sometimes drawing. Dislikes: Change, thunderstorms, loud rock or screechy/scream music, being ordered around, peer pressure, muddy colours, snakes, Blue Meanies, disappointment, and sometimes drawing. Personality: Casia is still as charming and whimsical as ever. She still finds boys slightly sad, she still loves flying, and she still is just as stubborn and obstinate. Her love of the 60's has abated slightly with the absence of Annabel, but her thoughts are still scattered with 60's language that sometimes sneaks into her speech. She still loves and takes comfort in music and singing, but she's having trouble trusting others after having been shunted to yet another guardian. Since she left Anna, Siren thoughts, sharp and sarcastic snippets that had been lurking underneath her sweet countenance have been popping into her head more and more, and she's a bit perturbed by the bitter things she sometimes finds herself thinking. She's trying to force them back down, but she needs to find a balance between both sides of her personality. Hobbies: Casia likes drawing but sometimes it reminds her too much of Annabel and she doesn't want to. She loves to sing, makes up songs, and is starting to understand sheet music. She refuses to sing to Jane yet, but Jane makes sure to leave records she wants Casia to hear in easy to see places. Abilities: Perfect Pitch- Casia has an extra-sensitive ear for music, and can sing any note given to her, even without an instrument or sheet music. She's beginning to understand music scales (i.e. A, B, C, D, etc.), and with further musical education, she'll also learn the Do, Re, Mi scale as well.
Melody Memory- Basically Casia can memorize lyrics and melodies to songs very rapidly, and can repeat the song back. The ability has matured with her, and she can begin to repeat more difficult songs such as "And I Love Her" and "This Little Light of Mine".

||.Jane
Name: Jane Greystone Age: 28 Gender: Female Occupation: Mail carrier Likes: Walking, words, reading, listening to speeches, collecting stamps, cooking, rain showers, light snow, early mornings, mythology, owls, and pomegranates. Dislikes: Humid weather, sunburn, alcohol, dogs, colds, and trite sayings. Personality: Jane Greystone's mother was a religious woman. From her, Jane got her fervor and stubborn beliefs, because of her influence, Jane is a strong-willed and lively young woman. She lives passionately and in her eyes there's a flash of determination. None of her moves are superfluous, and she lives as much life as she can, never refraining from trying something new that she wants to learn or doing something that's important to her because it seems difficult.
The thing Jane believes in with all her passion, the thing she finds importance in is words. With the right words, the world is at one's knees. Words are the skeleton keys that can open any door, the catalysts to change peoples' worlds, and if one isn't careful with them, they can cause a lot of harm. Everything she does is bathed in this philosophy, anything she says she makes sure she means. She works as a mail carrier, and believes it to be the most important job in the world, carefully delivering words all the time, each letter containing tiny fragments of peoples' souls, emotions, and the essence of someone's relationship with another. Hobbies: Collecting word-related things, geeking out over sound systems, studying history, and walking. Relationship with Casia: Jane and Casia get along tentatively at best. Sometimes she can really make a connection with her daughter, but like all families, they have fights. Casia tends to push Jane's attempts to bond back at her more often than not, but they're slowly forming a better relationship.

Harper: Casia: He had pretty hair and gave me a necklace. Then he played the guitar for me! And he even liked my singing. At his funeral I felt upset because I didn't think I felt bad enough, but I got a chance to sing for him as we said goodbye. Jane: Didn't meet.
Antony: Casia: He doesn't really acknowledge me. His smile's really nice though, and he likes Elvis. Jane: Hasn't met.
Chris: Casia: I met him once when I was a baby. He was scary, but he had two voices. Why can't I have two voices? D8 Jane: Hasn't met.
Nataya: Casia: She and I hung out a lot when we were really little. I met her again a while ago, it was kind of awkward, but plans were set in motion. She draws so well, I'm jealous! <3 Jane: Hasn't met.
Melchy: Casia: He's great! <3 He said I was better than most sirens, and I think he's a really cool pirate-cat. I hope we get to spend more time together. Jane: I saw him talking to Casia in the grocery store. Very recognizable.
Keres: Casia: The first time I met her was at Harper's funeral. She can play the piano and she's funny and friendly, but her tail scares me a little. She's still really fab, though, and I like chatting with her. Jane: -Hasn't met-
Merroth: Casia: He's a confusing algorhythm, but he's cool. We had a lot in common, and he wasn't really what I thought he would be like. He offered me a handkerchief, which was definitely not like what I've heard about him. It was good to make a connection with someone though, even if it was unexpected. Plus he likes my singing. Jane: He was chatting with Casia in the music room. Don't know much about him. Also, is he the ONLY normal looking friend Casia has?
Devakanya: Casia: I met her in the park. She won't talk, but she likes music and she likes my singing. She's easier to talk to because she's so quiet. Jane: Hasn't met.
Leviathan: Casia: I don't like him. Jane: Hasn't met.
Joshua: Casia: We don't have a lot in common, but he sings nicely. I respect what he has to put up with, but I don't trust him. Jane: He seems nice, but due to circumstances out of everyone's control, I don't think Casia will be visiting him again anytime soon.
Shiraz: Casia: She's really honest and simple. Refreshing to hang out with, and so cute when you feed her! Jane: She's a sweetheart. She and Casia chatted while I talked to her guardian, and Casia shared food with her. Could it be that I finally know one of Casia's friends' names?
Darsh: Casia: He looks like a little Blue Meanie, but he's using his powers for good(?). He tells the truth sideways a lot, and it's hard to trust him. His old man sounds really grody! Jane: He and Casia were getting into trouble. He seemed to be somewhat of a scamp.
Carlisle: Casia: He's giving me waltzing lessons. I don't know what to think about him, but I trust him for now, and he's a friend. He's sort of cherry, like you feel he's a little too genuine to be genuine, yeah? But he really doesn't seem to have a grody side that I can see! Jane: A rather nice sort of young man. Came to our house to return Casia's jacket, he was very polite.

Winning prompt response for Casia- For archival purposes.
Quote: The footprints of passersby in the snowbanks were deep, and leaves collected in them until it seemed Fall had been tiptoeing through the landscape to see what his brother had done with the place. It was a reminder of seasons that had passed and of things that had passed away with them. As Casia looked out from the window of the nondescript van the people from the orphanage were using to bring her to another new home, she saw Fall's footsteps and looked away. She didn't want to be reminded of the past. Not yet, not while it still stung even to think of her Anna's face. It was the most cruelly ironic that of all days to have found a new home she had found one on New Year's Eve. The day for new beginnings was when she would start yet another, go to another house which with any luck would become a home. The people from the orphanage had explained it all to her when they had come to take her away. They had said she was a very fortunate girl, which was funny because she didn't feel all that lucky. Sitting in a grody old van, and driving away from Annabel's house, the place she had found family and love for years? Groovy. She didn't know how she could possibly contain her enthusiasm. They had told her to make a New Year's resolution, and the siren had clenched her fists and resolved to kick the bogue wearing the blue sweater in the shins the moment she got out of the van. It wasn't that he was annoying the way he smiled so widely and chattered about how her new guardian was going to the bee's knees. It was that he was stealing her in the morning fog, taking her away from Anna and everything she held dear. And the flashes of Meanie-shade-blue at the edge of her vision every now and then made her heart jump. But the Meanie was a secondary concern that was bothering her, as was the fact that the Beatles hadn't jumped through the window to rescue her yet, and even that Fall's footsteps brought up painful feelings. What really got Casia was that despite the 'what ifs' and the nervous flutterings of fear that had long plagued her at night, she had never expected today. But here she was, wearing a Screamin' Strawberry jacket and mentally screaming thoughts that felt too bitter to be hers. She felt something bubbling up inside her, all the determined energy she had thrown into hissy fits with Anna, into paintings, into playing, was curdling into angry fear in the pit of her stomach. She felt it, and as it writhed around inside of her, it spawned these thoughts, these resolutions that weren't her, but she didn't seem able to deny them. Why shouldn't she kick the Blue Meanie in the shins? Why shouldn't she expect anything different from her next mom? She didn't expect anything. She was mentally exhausted as it was, with all the negative feelings inside of her gnashing at each other for dominance. She couldn't deal with it, she wouldn't. The more she looked for inspiration or hope or something to just cling onto, some cheerful thought to keep her from going zappy, the less there seemed to be. It was as if Casia was being displaced by a new girl to match her new last name and her new house and her new parent. She didn't struggle as the malevolent thoughts washed over her. This, too, felt wrong but feeling wrong on this backwards day almost felt right. Casia would gladly let the new girl deal with today. She didn't want to hear this Jane Greystone welcome her to a strange house. She didn't want to hear someone else make promises they couldn't keep. The siren closed her eyes, turning away from the window. She was tired, tired of looking at the window, of seeing the Blue Meanie, of humans, humans, humans, moving her around like a music note that didn't sound quite right. The Blue Meanie was looking at her. She scooched closer to the window, and as she shifted she heard a faint crunch. Reaching into her pocket, she felt a piece of paper that she couldn't remember having been there before. Casia furrowed her eyebrows and pulled out a note, written hastily on the back of a receipt for paint. It was short and it wasn't even in her mother's own words, but it was just so Anna, so like the guardian. She covered her mouth gingerly and began to tremble. The paper held lyrics to a Beatles song that she used to sing at night when she thought nobody could hear her, but it seemed like she hadn't been so quiet after all. Blackbird singing in the dead of night, Take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise. She must have scribbled it down in a hurry, the writing was sloppy and slapdash. But as the girl read it, she felt something inside her break like a sheet of ice on a lake, or the crust of snow as Fall's leafy feet trudged through it. Warm tears rolled down her cheeks and she felt the anger crawl back down into the dark. She had been trying to sing so quietly at night, but there was always someone to hear her. There was always someone to save her, not from Blue Meanies, but from herself. And now the song swept away the bitterness, her shoulders sagged and the words filled her up like a mantra, leaving a deep feeling that wasn't quite hope and wasn't quite love, but zen. A feeling of peace. What Casia made at that moment was stronger than a resolution. It was an oath, backed by every fiber in her being, to remember the feeling no matter what the future held, be it one guardian or ten. As they pulled up into the driveway, she emerged from the van looking straight at the future. She was hurt and she was changed, but at that moment Casia Greystone felt she could flap her wings and rise above. She closed her eyes and whispered the melody as she touched the pavement. "You were only waiting for this moment to arise, oh, you were only waiting for this moment to arise."
