Casia stood outside the theatre in Durem, reading what shows it offered that week while Jane waited for her to choose.

It was a gift of sorts. The post office Jane worked at had offered theatre tickets as a prize for the clerk who sold the most stamps supporting some sort of disease research or other, and the winner had gotten quite ill and given his tickets to Jane when she had stopped off to deliver his mail. His misfortune was Casia's good luck, and now the siren was able to redeem her tickets that evening for any performance she wanted. She eyed the long list, tracing a finger down at the unfamiliar names thoughtfully. She had been half hoping to see the Beatles or some other name like that, but there wasn't anything that sounded half so familiar and she was at a loss. Did she want to see an orchestra? A play? She didn't know what was what, and she didn't want to admit ignorance to Jane. Glancing around, she bit her lip and whispered under her breath. "Eeny, meeny, mynee, moe..."

She just hoped she'd get lucky and end up choosing something good. Wasting this rare opportunity would be a real bummer, and Casia wasn't sure when the next time she could go to the theatre would be.

Belle flipped through the program for what must have been the thousandth time looking for her adopted mothers name. As it had been a thousand times before it was listed under “Rosemary” the female lead. The young succubus was outstandingly proud of Elizabeth, her adopted mother had finally gone back to work, and immediately was cast as a lead. She looked over at Lunesse who seemed to be shifting in her (well belle called it a female because of the coloring) seat for the bizzilionth time. Carved wooden seats are pretty, but not comfortable to sit in for a long while, not to mention her babysitter did not seem to enjoy large crowds of people, and more were filling in at the second. At the realization of this Belle unfolded her wings and spread them out, tasting all the exited feelings around her.
“Tell me what mum said again Lunesse?” she whispered against the quite exited mumblings of the crowds surrounding them. Belle did this merely to calm the cat like babysitter sitting next to her, and because it made her smile every time she heard it.
“Your mother said that if she saw you were behaving tonight she would give you a wink at the bows.” Lunesse looked at the blissful little girl and smiled inwardly, though this was uncomfortable for her, it would be worth it in the end, just to see that little girl smile would be worth it.

Belle seemed to bounce in her seat not noticing the strange looks she was getting by the passerby’s. Perhaps she would meet someone that would become her friend in time, excitement from everyone around her and extruding from within herself surrounded her and Lunesse into a blissful bundle of joy. They hardly noticed that the two seats next to them were empty and that most were avoiding the strange ‘creatures’.

What Casia's finger had landed on was a musical, which at least meant she probably wouldn't hate it. It was in fact one of the very few performances she and Jane could have attended, as the tickets were only good for the one day and it was one of the few shows that hadn't begun already.

However, this meant that they were very nearly late for it, and by the time they slipped into the darkened theatre it was already crowded. Casia bit her lip, looking nervously around for seats and trying to avoid people at the same time, crowds were a hassle with her wings and the amount of humanity crowded into the room both worried and frustrated her. "Oof! Sorry, pardon, sorry..." Jane muttered as they made their way through the rows, while the siren remained resolutely silent. Just somewhere to sit, that was all she wanted, already she was feeling grody and obtrusive, her big brown wings making her stick out like a sore thumb.

Suddenly, her gaze alighted on something else that didn't seem quite right. Sitting next to two empty seats was another winged creature, smaller than the siren, but odd nonetheless, and Casia rushed to claim the seat next to her in an attempt to seem more at home in the strange environment. "Casia, there aren't two seats together over there!" Jane whispered loudly after her, but the siren rooted herself in the chair resolutely, and with a sigh, the guardian sat down two seats away, next to an equally strange cat figure. "Just behave, okay?" she reminded her daughter, uneasy that they were sitting apart. "Don't make me regret this."

Belle was still looking at the program as the other winged creature flopped into the chair next to her. The girl wouldn’t have even noticed if it had not been for the tip of her very sensitive wing touching the tip of the others. She turned her eyes to face the person now sitting next to her and was astonished to find another creature much like herself sitting next to her. The feminine human that sat next to the girls Lunesse seemed to be her parental figure, much like Elizabeth was to her. How curious this was, for she did not understand her oddity and now here was another of her kind! Perhaps it would be her chance to commune with someone that understood the feeling of being the odd one out. She twisted the black dress in her hands and looked at the other, unsure of how to communicate.
“B… bonjour...” she said quietly with her beautiful alto voice.

Lunesse turned to the woman next to her and gave the female a reassuring smile. “Fear not, I’m on babysitting duty, I’ll make sure they don’t get in too much trouble.” She tipped her top hat at the other and stared at the stage before her, it was slowly getting darker, as all theatres did just before they began the main production.
“Belle, hush, the play is about to begin, perhaps your friend would like to meet your mother behind the scenes.” She knew somehow that this would please both girls, for both had the same type of aura about them… beautiful, but scary as hell.

Casia glanced over at the other girl as she spoke. What a lovely voice! The musically oriented girl blinked, even Josh's didn't sound that nice and he was the only other singer Casia had ever met. (And her dislike of him aside, he was excellent at vocals.) The siren didn't know much about languages but everyone knew what 'Bonjour' meant, and she wanted to hear a voice like that again. She opened her mouth to respond, but saw Jane raising an eyebrow from down the aisle as the lights dimmed and instead sat and watched the play.

After the curtain fell for the last time, she stared for a moment, wings quivering. Musicals always seemed to make the siren calmer, and when she pulled her head out of the clouds, she turned to Belle. "Rosemary had a beautiful voice." What if the girl didn't understand English? What was the French word for beautiful? She furrowed her eyebrows, but a Beatles song came to her and gave her the answer. Waving at the stage, she said "You know, do-re-mi, really, er, belle."

She paused, regarding the figure carefully. This girl looked perhaps even odder than she did, with paler skin and kaleidoscope eyes that the siren had to force herself not to meet. This girl had called her, and she'd answered quite slowly. Her mouth twitched into a smile at how things had worked out with this girl, the girl with kaleidoscope eyes.

Belle stared at the siren female before her and giggled how silly she sounded trying to mingle French words with English.
“My name is Bellatrix, the lead is my mother.” With an unsteady hand she reached over and touched Casia’s wings with her own, radiating calm energy.
“You’re like me, mademoiselle, much like me… I thought I was the only one.” The young girl looked away, thinking of how all monsters should stick together. It was a rather melancholy thought, but it was one that was impossibly true… she had read the bible, and crosses burned her skin, but how was it that Belle could be considered a daemon from hell? Belle made herself look over at Lunesse unsure of everything that was going on. Only her knowledge that only her babysitter would understand her kept Belle from reverting to French. Why she fell on that particular language was for reasons unbeknownst to her or anyone else, or how it was she was fluent in it and English baffled them all.
“Would you enjoy meeting mum?”
Her hand shook as the overly pale female reached out to the other, offering her hand, a acknowledgement that she knew what the other was, and knew if the knowledge of her was false, then not all must be true of the siren as well.
“Will you sing to me?” She asked, if not reaffirming all of her thoughts in one sentence.

Lunesse observed the children with interest, holding one glove-covered hand to the older female that accompanied what seemed to be her span. The two children seemed to be so much alike, that it must have been that which gave Lunesse the chills. The feline creature observed them with level eyes, and a cold calm. Perhaps one day they would be the destruction of the world, in beauty. Or perhaps they would hate each other, fall for the same male… oh the possibilities were endless, and none the less dangerous.

"I'm Casia." the siren said, waving a bit. "The only one?" Something had been lost in translation, and Casia stared uncomprehendingly. Her mind seemed to be slower around this girl and she didn't like it, so she shook her head and attempted to pull herself together. Think of the Beatles, don't look her in the eyes.

When she admitted her mother was the lead and offered to let Casia meet her, Casia couldn't help but meet her eyes though, her own brown ones lighting up at the prospect. "That'd be golden." she said, trying not to sound too eager because something was still a little disconcerting about this girl, and Jane had already proven she was useless with disconcerting things with Josh.

At the request, her wings flapped and her eyes widened, because the request suggested that Bellatrix knew what she was. No one knew what she was! Well, besides Merroth and Jane and Melchy and Keres and Harper had formerly known before he had gone and died, but she had told them. Most people thought she was some bird... thing. "Why would you want that?" she asked, because the last time she had sung in peculiar circumstances, crazy stuff had gone down.

Jane, unlike Lunesse, was watching with a sort of affable confusion.
