Growing Up Lusty
She'd been the sweetest little thing as a toddler - cuddly, loving, undiscerning. Everyone was a friend and everyone was judged equally. As Ebony got older, she started to be more discerning in her judgments and eventually did learn to outright dislike some people. For the most part, the spawn was still the tender and loving person she had always been. Despite all of her sweetness, the lust angle of her personality hadn't really been something she noticed till puberty, and even then it was minor.
Her body would always be beautiful, something to attract the attention of men and women alike. Ebby had curves to spare and generally features that pleased rather than made her unattractive. Her wings, horns and strangely hued skin all served to make her appear otherworldly rather than weird, at least for the most part, and that tended to be a plus. For the most part, Ebony didn't have much use for the whole beauty thing – she had no desire for a mate (no desire that she wished to encourage anyway) and apart from it keeping her from being mistreated or having a less social job, it wasn't really something the female considered all that necessary till later in life. Sure, she enjoyed being called pretty sometimes and took care to always look her best, but it wasn't a major deal, right?
When Ebony'd been asked out by Vinny, it had seemed cute and sweet. The younger spawn was nice enough and his nervousness had been endearing at first. It didn't take long for those traits to stop seeming endearing in a romantic sense and more in a friendly sense. She he was cute and sweet, but in a relationship, Ebby found, she required a bit more attention, and a bit less awkward lack of initiative. They'd broken up but remained on good terms, and the spawn was pretty happy for this.
Bovi had been...different. When she'd first met him, she had been younger – not so much that she didn't think about things like dating or any of that, she did already have a boyfriend after all, but young enough that she could accept Bovi's having grown two stages between that time and when she'd met him later. Maybe it was the lust in her that decided she liked this older version of the pride spawn she had hung out with at Christmas-time, when he'd been only a child. He had grown from a sweet and friendly boy who'd looked at the tree with her, to a strong and handsome young man with a lot of responsibility and a lot of class. Somehow, it didn't feel wrong asking him out on a date, despite her being a tad older.
Really, was she that much older? She'd arrived with her family in early November 2008, he in late December of the same year. And stage wise, he was one below her and soon enough would be around her age. Compared to Vinny, who had technically been spawned long before she had, but was still younger than her somehow – but that happened with a lot of her friends it seemed. Ebony had passed them all by at some point or another, even dear Mareike at one point, though the other female caught up quickly. Not only had she passed her friends, but also her family – Bailey had only just grown, becoming physically older than her at long last, and Sinny was barely blooming into a teenager, Shiraz a toddler and Kahlua long since returned to his old home.
No, if she thought about it hard, Bovi was a much better match for her than most she'd met. He was strong, he was sweet, he shared her classy taste, and he was a pride spawn. Somehow, that seemed proper – Enki had always been her favorite demon and it was only right that she should marry one of his spawn, essentially becoming foster daughter to a demon she'd already felt familial with. His family was also something she could easily appreciate – Ballare and Stace were the kind of family she'd be more than happy to be apart of.
Love is a beautiful thing, not that Ebby really thought she was in love just yet. But could she be? That was possible – after all, only time could tell and she had plenty of time. With plans to slowly leave professional dancing and start teaching at Cirque, the young woman had a smooth place in life heading her way. She had time to settle down and form a family, whether it was with Bovi or some other person she ended up meeting. In the end, Ebby did know one thing – she was happy and she knew she was making the right choices for the present. Which is all she really could do.
