Last one. He gritted his teeth and launched his magic again. That was it. Exhaustion overcame him, dotting his vision with black—or perhaps that was just the lightning.
His magic was depleted. He screamed, launching himself at the beast and beating on it with his fists.
Moments after he came back down, he turned to Thalassa, to Pyrrhus, to check on them, only to watch the black lightning take them both.
They vanished, and his heart stopped. "No, no, no!" he screamed, grasping at the air where they'd just been. He couldn't bear this. He couldn't lose what was left of his family now, not when there had been so much hope for the future after finding them.
He felt miserable. He wished the lightning would take him too.
It did.
Immediately, he regretted his wish, as he witnessed the Dark Star. It took everything from him. Sucked the life out of him. Well, the lightning had done that. But still.
He felt like he was being shredded from the inside out. The Dark Star swallowed everything. It would take the entire universe.
As much as it scared him, it pissed him off even more. He wasn't sure if he truly had a body anymore, or if he just had a vaguely body shaped soul as his starseed waited for its chance to flee back to the cauldron, but he felt like he was flipping the Dark Star off anyway.
"We won't let you beat us," he seemed to say to it, though his "voice" quaked. Fear gripped him so tightly it hurt, but he refused to let it win.
Truly, though, if this was death, at least he'd gone out fighting. He'd see his friends again one day, if his next self was lucky.
His only regret was that nobody would tell Isidor that everything had turned out okay. That he'd... probably missed his chance to find love again. He hoped Isidor would move on. Isidor was smart; he'd probably figure out the world didn't end when he woke up to clear skies the next morning, assuming that everyone else had ensured they'd won. Isidor would probably also figure out that Troilus had... died defending Earth. Troilus wished he could leave him something. He wasn't sure what, but... Well, he was dead. Surely the cauldron would call to him soon, and he'd fade away.
Stay safe, Isidor. Stay alive. That would be enough, he thought distantly.
Sweat poured down from his forehead, down his back—plenty of other places too. he started to feel sick. Magical exhaustion creeping in. He wanted to lay down and stop, but he couldn't, not now. He needed to help finish killing this creature. Especially with so many people going down. Disappearing into the black lightning.
Daedalus inhaled between his teeth. He could see others falling around him; could see the lightning striking through the destroyed shield; knew that whatever they were going to do, they needed to do it quickly.
He would just have to keep going. Keep fighting. Keep trying.
Another blast of magic. Another desperate attempt. They would keep going. They had to keep going.
Quote:
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Progress Forward! Daedalus speaks the name of his attack, and enemies within an 8 foot radius are suddenly overwhelmed by visions of progress of some kind—social, technological, any kind is possible. These visions are crammed into about 10 seconds, and when they fade, they leave the targets disoriented as they try to parse through what they just saw. The disorientation lingers for about 25 seconds, but can remain longer at player discretion. Daedalus can use this attack twice per battle.
Akaganite gave Ako a strained smile. “I’ll be alright,” she said, though deep down, she knew she wouldn’t. She’d nearly exhausted herself, and she suspected she had little energy left to continue fighting.
Her heart sank when she watched Aquamarine collapse—her General had put everything he had into this fight. She refused to give anything less.
She pushed herself to her feet. Made one last leap, to strike at the Hollow one last time.
And when she came down, the lightning struck her, and she collapsed to the ground, eyes wide and staring and full of stars.
And she found herself in the darkness.
In the distance was a vast, black star. Purple lightning seemed to crackle over it, and as she stared at it, she felt a deep sense of…hopelessness.
She was alone here. She had fallen, and left Ako behind, and there was nothing she could do. Perhaps this was her last dying vision—a warning of what was to come that she might never be able to pass on.
Perhaps it was simply the consequence for falling here. For daring to stand up to so great a power.
In her heart, Akaganeite hoped the others kept fighting. Hoped that they brought the beast low, and trapped it one more.
That…would mean that her sacrifice was not in vain. And that….yes, she would be content with that. To spit in the face of this Dark Star and its hungry, hopeless void.
Location: I7 → ??? Action: Shielding extra hard (x2 shield roll approved by Kyu), absorbing the lightning and eventually KO-ing Total: 10 * 2 + 10 (rank) = 30, shielding HP:118 = 0/150 (choosing to drop to 0)
She looked up just in time to see it happen.
The beauty that was their solar system. The explosion. The eruption of a cloud of dust…and then nothing.
No Earth. No moon.
Ekstrom froze, mind going blank as she stared up into the shifting universe beyond them. She choked on a breath, chest clenching as faces started flashing through her mind. She tried her best to wrap her mind around what had just happened while the universe shifted before their very eyes. Almost like it was moving on without so much as a second thought to what they were just made to witness…and making her feel so utterly insignificant.
After everything they'd done to get to this point, to get so close, and yet…
She nearly sank into it, one of those moments of wanting to curl up into herself when she was so incredibly overwhelmed she didn't know what to do with herself. It would have been so easy to just give up, to give in to whatever fate waited for them at the hands of the Calamitous Hollow. What even was the point now, she turned the thought over in her mind for a split second, her forcefield flickering into nonexistence as she lost focus…
And then the Calamitous Hollow crashed into the Vanguardian shield and broke her out of her state of shock, bringing her back to the full reality around her.
Even if Earth was gone, they were still here.
They were still fighting.
Ekstrom furrowed her brows and tears welled in her eyes, but she stood steady as she focused on the creature now hovering over them, perched on the remnants of the Vanguard's shield. Black lightning broke out all around them again.
Her attention immediately shifted, and when she realized that her shield was gone she finally budged from where she stood.
She poised to strike, raising her shielded arm before falling to one knee and impaling the tip of her shield into the ground, channeling her magic once more. Her forcefield again exploded out, covering everyone nearby and absorbing the oncoming lightning.
As much of it as possible, for as long as she could.
Ekstrom steeled her resolve, gritting her teeth and ignoring whatever pains surged through her from the onslaught of lightning coming at them. Every strike being taken in by her shield. She could get through this.
She would get through this.
She had to.
The Mercury Knight trembled where she knelt. Felt her strength bleed out of her bit by bit until she had barely any left. Until she was forced down to both of her knees, yet despite that willing herself to keep her focus. To keep her shield up.
They were still fighting.
A quiet sigh escaped her as she poured the last bit of her energy into her magic, fortifying her shield with everything she had to give.
Bright, but fading, blue eyes moved slowly skyward, and Ekstrom managed a weak smile when she saw that it was still there.
Knight — Ekström impales her shield into the ground. Upon focusing, a forcefield materializes from her shield and surrounds her, and at her will it can contract or expand to include anyone up to within 10 feet of her. The forcefield is light blue and glitchy in appearance. She has a magic pool of 50 seconds, plus her transcendence boost, which gives her an additional 40 seconds.
For the duration of her casting, the shield can absorb or reflect (which one it does is up to her at the time of casting) all magical effects up to her rank. It can slightly lessen the damage of fourth stage magic. Reflected magic remains as strong as the magic of the one who cast it if it does hit someone (she has no control over the direction the magic is reflected). She cannot reflect fourth stage magic.
Individuals are able to touch and/or pass through the forcefield, however enemies that do will feel as though something inside their body is short circuiting, causing very sharp pains to run through their entire body. For a few seconds moving becomes difficult but not impossible.
Magic is unaffected and unhindered within the forcefield.
Ekström can withdraw the physical shield from the ground to take it with her to help those within her field of protection, but she still needs to focus in order to maintain the forcefield. Because of this, her help would be very limited. If she is overly jostled it would break her focus, thus the forcefield would de-materialize.
Captain Nagyagite Location: E9 Action: Attacking one last time, and going down~ Total: 6 + 5 = 11 HP: 17 - 26 - 16 = 0
Nagyagite’s own venom tasted like ash on his tongue. His mouth felt dry and painful, and he knew he didn’t have anything else to spit. But he had hands, and feet, and the ability to jump up and throw a punch.
So he did, one last swing of defiance.
As he fell back down, lightning crackled through the air, and when his body hit the strange surface they were fighting from, he was still and unmoving, eyes glassy and blank.
Nagyagite himself was…somewhere else. Somewhere distant. Somewhere dark.
The Dark Star loomed on the horizon. He couldn’t say how he knew what it was, but he knew, in his bones. And he felt…cold, and afraid, and lonely.
He hoped they’d done enough. He hoped that back in Destiny City, Simon was okay. Simon, and Tabitha, and her wife, and Benny the dog, and the little slice of normalcy that Nagyagite had so desperately wished he could carve out for himself.
He was glad, that he’d told Simon the truth. Maybe it would mean Simon understood why he didn’t show up again. Maybe it meant there would be one person in the world who remembered him.
Because Nagyagite felt sure, staring into that black expanse crackled by purple lightning, that he was not going to make it back.
“Yeah, no problem,” she said, easily. She didn’t know her. But that didn’t matter. This stranger in white was standing with the Court and with all fo them against a threat form beyond the stars. A threat that seemed determined to go for the ******** throat.
“Oh how dare you, you piece of s**t,” she snarled, watching it rip the sky open and attack their planet. The very planet they were all struggling so hard to defend. “You do not get to take shortcuts—
Fired up by indignant rage, Persephone leapt up and smacked her fist into the Hollow.
And when she landed, one of those black lightning strikes hit her, making her gasp and ********> that hurt!"
But at least she was still standing. For at least a little bit longer.
Sappho gasped, hand coming up to her mouth once again. She was doing a lot of gasping in shock, lately, she thought, not that it really mattered. And anyway, maybe shock was the only appropriate reaction to their shield coming down, to the monster seeming to manage to attract earth, to—
To having to hope and pray that they had managed to do enough, in the weeks leading up to this.
She could feel tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. Alistair and the rest of their family were back home. On Earth. Which meant that whatever that was, they might have been in the direct line, if those little satellite shields weren’t enough.
The thought of it made her feel briefly dizzy.
But all she could do was try to hit the monster again, even if she felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. All she could do was fight, and hope.
No, it wasn’t fair, all of their work, it couldn’t be for nothing—
Ariadne had to believe that what they were seeing was a blip. Or an illusion. Or a dream. Or that those satellites had worked, that the cloud covering Earth was protective and not just—some kind of debris field.
She wanted to be sick, but there was no time. So instead of letting herself give into despair, Ariadne leapt up and kicked at the monster, and hoped that it mattered.
Their attacks seemed to be working, but unfortunately it didn’t necessarily mean they were in the clear. The Calamitous Hollow began to act differently and Heliodor was as worried and engrossed at the beasts movement as anyone else on the field.
When it aimed towards Earth his heart dropped. No. No! This couldn’t be it. They were here! Fighting here. Let it keep its focus on them!
It felt like chaos as the dragon-like beast attacked their home and Helio felt despair for how helpless he felt in the moment. How little he felt he could do. Were they nothing more than bugs to it. A mere annoyance to it?
An explosion and what came with it was a puzzling scenario. Tears appeared around them and the Calamitous Hollow. Things could be seen beyond that was marveling and mind bending. Were they other worlds? A singular one? What was going on? What was that cloud that that emerged and collided or…attacked, perhaps, the Calamitous Hollow?
Wait. He felt a shift in energy. It was barely noticeable for the pure amount of energy and auras surrounding him, but it was there and piqued his interest. It took scanning the field with intensity, seeking out those in specific he wanted to check on (Faustite, Albite, Fafnir, and the rest of the team) before he finally realized the shift of energy came from an old teammate. Chrysacolla had ascended somehow.
It wasn’t the time to wonder the logistics of it all. There were bigger things to deal with. Like the creature that had just attempted to destroy Earth!
They weren’t likely to get another chance if another attack was sent to their planet like that.
Helio reached out through his connection with the beast. Whether he consciously did it or just found himself falling into the now familiar thread that was there, he wasn’t sure, but he began seeking answers. Tried to understand what it was that was happening.
Unfortunately, this time, his head felt like it was going to split open as he connected again. Hands moved to cradle his head as he stabilized himself in a wide stance, eyes closed. It hurt. A a lot. ”Damn!” He cursed through clenched teeth cause for all of that effort he got very little back.
He wasn’t really sure who from the teamwas close to him at that moment with his eyes closed to try and stave off the pain, but he quickly relayed what he got. “It’s pissed and focus on exterminating us.” Like they couldn’t already piece that together. ”Those….holes or tears. Whatever. I think…I think that’s how it travels around. It uses its electricity to open them. Whatever that cloud was that hit it isn’t something it has any knowledge of.”
The knowledge, while maybe would have been useful before the battle, was not so much now. Hell, if they survive this, maybe it would be useful later on, but now? No. It wasn’t worth it anymore.
Heliodor mentally slammed that connection with the Calamitous Hollow closed.
Almost blindly he shot off another attack in a mixture of despair and determination. If they were going to go down, he intended to go down giving the fight his all.

Deep Space Sailor Tianyi Location: E10 Action: Using his magic to boost Muri Total: 5 x 2 (DSS) = 10 HP: 62 - 26 - 5 = 31
His friends were starting to go down.
Tianyi wanted to cry. Wanted to break down. Wanted to wail and beat his fists and declare the unfairness of the universe. Sweet Mönch, Chillingham’s friend—Elsa—everyone, lost under the storm.
He had to try. He had to keep helping.
So he turned to Murikabushi, again. Cast his magic one more time.
“Please. Keep fighting,” he said, and he hoped that it was enough.
Quote:
Sailor Scout Attack: Blossoming Order! Tianyi speaks the name of his attack, and in an eight-foot radius around him, a field of kerria flowers blooms. Those within the radius feel inclined to obey his words as they would a royal command, though this inclination can be overcome, particularly if the target is higher ranked than Tianyi or the order would cause the target to act against their nature or cause themself serious harm. Tianyi can use this magic three times per battle, and the spell lasts for 25 seconds.
Deep Space Sailor Elkurud Location: E10 Action: Protecting everyone in E10 with his magic! Total: 8 x 2 (DSS) = 16 HP: 64 - 26 - 8 + 16 = 46
No. No, this wasn't fair. They were all fighting so hard, and yet Elkurud could see Amateru slipping away. Could see him faltering. Knew him well enough to know the signs.
"I'm fine,” he said, insistently. “What about you?” He was lucky. None of the lightning had hit him, not yet, which meant that he wasn’t nearly as hurt as Amateru was.
Angrily, he stomped his foot on the ground. How dare the Hollow try to take Amateru from him now.
”Pigeon’s. Resilience.”
It felt less like an attack call, more like a demand. An order.
“You are going to stay with me, do you hear me?”
Quote:
Sailor Scout Attack: Pigeon’s Resilience! Elkurud speaks the name of his attack, and a rain of pigeon feathers falls from the sky in a 6-foot radius. Allies within the radius find that they are more resilient against attacks, with pain and damage from physical strikes being reduced by 10% for the duration. This spell lasts for 25 seconds, and can be used three times per battle.
Deep Space Super Sailor Madriu Location: E10 Action: Attacking with deep space magic! Total: 4 x 2 (DSS) + 5 = 13 HP: 80 - 26 - 4 (DSS) - 17 + 16 (Tianyi) = 49
Madriu could feel exhaustion creeping in. The longer this went on, the more of his reserves he went through. And every time he used his magic, he felt it burn through him.
This time was no exception. But if he had to burn himself out to do this, to ensure he didn’t see another world fall, to force the Calamitous Hollow back into its prison, he would do it. He would pour every bit of his heart into fighting, until he could not fight anymore.
This time, when he landed after throwing his fists at the monster, he was almost immediately struck by black lightning.
He barely felt it. The lingering benefits of his magic. But he knew he would feel it later, which was going to suck.
Still, his attention was on someone else.
“Arcalis?” He felt tension in his throat, almost as heavy as the exhaustion in his bones. If the lightning could hurt him that badly, he was terrified of what it might do to his partner.
“Please, stay with me.”
Quote:
Sailor Scout Attack: Struggle On! Madriu calls the name of his attack, punches his fists together, and is surrounded by a golden aura. For the next 25 seconds, he will receive physical boosts equivalent up to twice his natural ability, giving him the power to struggle against difficult odds. He becomes physically stronger and for the duration of his magic feels no pain. To achieve the full boost of his magic, he must be actively struggling, and the more dire the situation is, the more damage he can do. He can use this magic up to three times per battle.
Location: Just kidding, he was in F3 (attack roll only; safe from damage roll) → ??? Action: Attacking, then disappearing Total: 3 + 10 (rank) = 13 HP:115 = 0/150 (choosing to drop to 0)
'Dani…'
Ashur reached out through the connection provided by the earrings. Hoping, praying to whatever gods may have existed that she would respond. His heart started pounding in the meantime, thundering in his ears as he waited.
He was already moving, though, leaping up and whipping his staff at the Herald. As feeble as it felt. as pointless as it seemed…he kept fighting. Until he made it home to her, and to their growing family. Weaving between lightning strikes, suffering a few himself, the Uranus Knight channeled his aspect and moved with the wind at his back. Dodging, jumping, striking.
Until it was one strike too many, and he found himself face to face with the Dark Star, his body having disappeared from the battlefield.

Mauvian Illyria Location: F3 Action: Attacking the CH (( being shielded from lightning damage this round thanks to Encke )) Total: 4 + 10 = 14 dmg HP: 126hp - (26 rd damage if not shielded) = 100hp
The sight of the explosion that blocked the view of Earth and the Moon lit a fire deep within the Mauvian. Illyria's tail anxiously swished back and forth before the Hollow crashed into the shield that Lyndin had been maintaining. The lightning that was now crashing over the field was finding multiple targets and her ears flattened before she hissed softly. Her claws came out as she leaped upwards towards the creature, intent on doing superlative damage to whatever part of it she could reach. It wasn't easy but if it came down to it, the Mauvian would want to save her magical attacks for if something else popped up as a surprise. Her gaze tracked to the huddled Vanguard and those that had come forward to donate their energy. The shield was no more so what now would the group do?
Landing back on her feet Illyria searched the crowd before moving closer to Ida & Kerberos. Ida was her bonded, but Kerberos was dear to her bonded partner, at least it seemed that way to Illyria. She'd protect the pair of them with her dying breath if it came down to it.
The creature was weakening. Meissa's gaze tracked the creature as it disappeared into the clouds and then experienced that crazy moment where it seemed that everything stood still. The hairs on her arms and at the back of her neck raised up with the residual static discharge in the air. The sight of Earth and the Moon being revealed as the clouds burst apart was quite beautiful. What wasn't so beautiful was the massive amount of energy that the Calamitous Hollow tried firing directly at the planet. An explosion rocked the space in front of the planet but as soon as she was trying to squint in order to see what had become of her home the view suddenly shifted into that of unfamiliar spaces to Meissa.
Growling softly under her breath the senshi took a running jump in order to launch herself at the creature after it had crashed into the shields that had been attempting to keep all those gathered safe. As she attacked a bolt of lightning struck her and she fell out of the sky as a result. Her vision dimmed for a moment before she rooted around for the berry that she knew she still had and she popped it into her mouth before biting down swiftly. Hopefully it would do something that would keep her from experiencing significant damage.
Sailor Byakko Senshi of the West (basic): Journal Location: C3 Action: Attacking best she can (using the Hallow's own scale against him) + Almadel’s purple berry gift Total: 9 HP: 100 HP - 35HP = 65HP + 3HP = 68HP - 38HP = 30HP - 26 = 4 - 15 = -11 + 15 = 4 Roll: 9, 5
Byakko had used all her magic and it seemed the merchant wasn't going to show up. She frowned a little when she realized the card had responded to Coco, but there again. They didn't know where they were really. How would such a character as Almadel find them?
She shrugged her shoulders and was looking for something to attack the beastie with. When she looked at one of the scales. It was a bit large still but. She picked one up and tested the weight of it. "Hmmmmmm" The senshi grinned and threw the scale like a frisbee at the hallow.
[b]Tiger Stalks from the West - Byakko summons her attack and a soft crisp wind starts to blow from the west, billowing up small sized leaves around her. Slowly the wind starts to kick up and Byakko throws her arms forward hands held out like claws and the wind whips in the direction towards her target causing the leaves to hit them. The leaves can leave up to really shallow cuts, much like paper cuts.
For this attack Byakko can only hit one person. The attack lasts about 30 seconds and causes light damage. She can use it twice per battle.
Used Almadel’s purple berry gift - heals a target +15 HP once
Unused Almadel’s purple diamond pin - grants a one time bonus of +10 to a roll. Metallic Bracelet - can be used towards one roll; it will double the attack (modifiers included)
Tea looked at Coco and frowned. "So what'd the calling card say?" She was curious but then she also looked up at the towering beast that was the hallow and sighed.
She called her attack again and was hoping, it would actually hurt the Hallow instead of backfire on her. "Lets finish this~!!" She said as a lot of others were slowly being picked off. She watched her sister throw a scale, and realized they were small enough to pick up now! "Hey we should each grab one, maybe if we all get through this we could use it for bartering chips with Almadel."
Tea had picked up a scale after saying this and shoved it into her subspace pocket -- though surprised it fit considering it was still a decent size. It wasn't long after this she got struck by the black lightning and then --- she was gone. As if the lightning had swallowed her whole.
The senshi of Mice looked around at her new surrounding and paused when she saw a dark star. That was very ominous looking and just very off putting and unsettling......
Mice's Medicine - Sailor Tea calls her attack and a blind mouse made of energy appears. The mouse has offered its sight in exchange for healing medicine, and Tea can summon it for aid. The ethereal mouse will scurry towards the target and can immediately heal all minor injuries. It cannot heal moderate or severe injuries. The healing will take thirty seconds and can be used three times.
used Almadel’s purple diamond pin - grants a one time bonus of +10 to a roll.
Unused Almadel’s purple berry gift - heals a target +15 HP once Metallic Bracelet - can be used towards one roll; it will double the attack (modifiers included)

Ibirapitá, Senshi of Shade Action: Trying to comfort Abzu, using last shield Location: F3 HP: 10 Roll: 8
Ibirapitá noticed the way Abzu leaned back on his knees with no one in his newly powerful hands and frowned minutely. This was, perhaps unfortunately, a situation he was quite familiar with in ways that the younger knight--they were all so young, were they not?--had no way of understanding. That did not mean his words could not be helpful, here.
"Abzu?"
Abzu didn't respond, though Ibirapitá wasn't expecting him to.
"I understand what you are experiencing right now is a feeling of immense pain." The glance Ibirapitá received over Abzu's shoulder was somewhere between no s**t and get to the point. "Pendour is still here with you." Did their stories become unreal the moment they were committed to paper? "And I am unwilling to believe in the finality of something without physical proof."
That seemed to strike a chord, and Abzu looked at Ibirapitá for a moment longer.
"Things are always shifting in the cosmos. Try to hang on."

Eridu, Page of Cybele Action: Noticing something and separating from Abzu, subspace junk attack, Location: E4 HP: 10 Roll: 4
On one hand, perhaps they should have stayed put. After all, their son was experiencing a sudden and immense loss, and Eridu was perhaps more equipped to help Abzu out than anyone else there, even that giant alien man with the giant alien sword.
(Eridu could tell Abzu was distraught. They, sadly, knew their son well even in ways they wish they didn't. In a more normal circumstance, Abzu would be distracted and Eridu knew it.)
On the other hand, Ibirapitá seemed to be the one heading for Abzu, and Ibirapitá had delt with considerably more mourning than Eridu had. There were, perhaps, other solutions to be found. There weren't any in the rifts, necessarily, and there assuredly weren't any off in the distance, beyond the dark clouds. They saw, though, something that rang familiar at a small distance.
Eridu pulled themself back, pursuing heading toward the familiar colours and sensations, feeling more free albeit cautious in their movements under what the glowing man in the center had done.
"Neryn," responded Lysvi, weakly, coughing as they reached out to them in turn. They managed one more shot out towards the beast that might have just killed another world before their eyes. Was this what it felt like when Velenia itself fell? Was this a repeat of what all these other species wrote about in their texts as their worlds died to chaotic forces?
Lysvi shuddered.
"We gotta," they shivered, too, suddenly cold in the weakness they felt. They had to what? Lysvi knew Neryn was the higher ranked one, but Lysvi was the eldest, and felt like they needed to offer words of kindness here. "We gotta hang on. We'll get through this."
They had to.
There wasn't another option. There wouldn't be another world lost in this empty cosmos, not under Lysvi's watch.
