After visiting and helping Kaylen and Melanie, I decided I would take a trip to Aisko and see if I couldn't take out, yet another, Aiskala dragon. I need to get back to my training if I'm ever going to be a master one day. Hopefully I'll be able to achieve my dreams still...I just hope so anyway. That's all I have nowadays is hope.

It had been a couple weeks since her excursion into the Celestial Plane and Kavanna had become rather restless. Constantly working around the house, trying to keep herself busy as Naomi would continuously tell her to leave the house and get back to her training. If she ever wanted to become a master, she needed to get herself in gear and truly work for it.
"Kav, why do you sit here all day and clean, dear? Why not get out of the house and go do something productive to master your Ysali arts. I know, why not go work on your alchemy a bit? It's been a long while since I've seen you last take out your cauldron." the old woman said with a kind smile as she entered the room, watching Kavanna slave over the dishes left in the sink from the morning.
"I haven't really had the time lately. Plus, I like staying here and helping you out as much as I can." she said, turning around with a wet dish in hand, drying it with her apron.
"Listen, I know you and Alex have chatted about me and being left alone the last time he was home. You mustn't think about me. Your life is just beginning. You're still young, beautiful, and yet have so much wisdom within you. Go out there and take hold of that! Become a master, THEN come back and take care of an old bat like me, okay? Hey, I even have an idea. Why don't you go join the College of Aptitude in Ashen City? There's an outpost in Ashen City and in the Celestial Plane. I have been a member for as long as I can remember. They help you quite a bit, you know. Plus, it will get you out of the house and on your way to bettering yourself as an alchemist. Maybe one day you'll be as good as lady Apicius, Master Alchemist! Heheheh, wouldn't that be something to strive for?" she said, a bright smile upon her face as always.
Kavanna laughed a bit at the comment. Apicius was far too great an alchemist to be compared to. Especially at this point in her life. She was a Ysali Dovaa as well, or from what she had heard of her anyway. Maybe one day the two would meet and be able to chat over a cauldron or something. Ah, what a day that would be.
Her daydream had ended and she realized she was back into the reality of this world. But what Naomi said made complete sense.
"You know what, that would be a good idea. I think I'll do just that. Thanks mom. I'll be back later this evening." she said, setting down the plate before running over to give her mother-in-law a hug.
It was then that gathered a few materials, including her cauldron, and left the house to go to the city.
~~~
Finally within the city she came to the small building on the edge of town that was supposedly the college's outpost in Ashen City. She game to the large glass door and walked inside, only to find a woman sitting at a desk.
Kavanna walked to the counter and smiled. The woman asked her what her business was at the college and when Kavanna said enrollment, the woman kindly pointed her down the hallway.
It was obvious that as things were right now, the neutral race of the Dovaa seemed completely neutral. There wasn't any hostility towards them at this point, neither were they harsh words or strange glances. Hybrids got the worst treatment of all the races at that point, which caused Kavanna to think about how her son must be treated, being a hideaway in the Plane and all.
As she approached the enrollment office, a girl walked out with some herbs in arm and a bright smile on her face. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood today, that was the strangest thing. Kavanna entered the room to find a tall Orderite man sitting behind another desk.
"Welcome to the College of Aptitude. I'm Cessan, the enrollment officer for the college here in Ashen City. Are you looking to enroll and become an initiate in the college?" he asked her as he waved for her to sit in the empty seat across from him.
"Yes, I was told to join the college so I can learn as much as I can about alchemy." she said, taking the seat.
"Good. Good. I can see that you have your alchemical ingredients all ready. Hmm...your name, miss?" he asked, getting a piece of parchment from a drawer and a quill.
"Kavanna Kaalia-Naraama." she responded.
"I see. Here's a questionnaire. Feel free to stay and fill it out and then hand it in when you're finished. If done completely, you'll receive your badge and you will be officially enrolled in the college, today! As for now, I must be off to a meeting. I'll see you upon my return, I hope?" he said, handing her the parchment and the quill.
Kavanna was a bit surprised that all it took to join the college was to fill out a paper and turn it in. She nodded, taking the paper and quill as she began to write.
She filled out all of the information and reviewed it several times until the man came back from whatever small meeting he had to attend.
"All done? Good. Alright, Miss Naraama. You're all set. Here's your badge. Go to the front desk with any other questions you have, alright? Happy herbing!" he said with a light chuckle.
Kavanna happily took the badge and looked at it. It was a beautiful green color that reminded her of the Clan she chose. Ysali. All those years ago. She left the building and headed back to the cottage outside of the city, now she was a new college student and could attend with more questions.
She felt as though her life was finally going in the right direction. Finally, after so many years of wasted time. She was truly going to become a Master and hopefully even master alchemy in the process!●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●
xxxxxxxxxxκαvαииαxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx→тнє υитσℓ∂ sтσяץ.: sѳℓѳ яѳℓε ρℓαч :. ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●● » learning the tomes
It had been quite some time since Kavanna had last seen her spell books. She decided to take a day and see what she could learn from them. The Ysali Dovaa went to the bookshelf and pulled off the spell books she had bought many a moon ago.
She brought them all outside and sat them around the herb garden in order to have enough room to totally immerse herself in them. She took the book with the rainbow gem on the cover and opened it. The smell of an old book, especially a spell book, made her day bright.
She then began to read the words on the page:
'This short manual teaches the user how to create a solid shield of magic which reflects all incoming magical or physical damage once. Once cast, the shield remains up until a successful attack connects and the spell cannot be cast again that battle. Damage returned to attacker is their original damage. Opponent's block/ward do not apply.
In a multiple vs one situation reflection shield will only reflect the attack of the first opponent to land a hit, all other successful opponent's hits that round will land as normal.'
"Hmm...so the words here...I just...say them?" she questioned curiously. She then read further into the book, as it explained to simply place your hand up in front of you as if to stop someone, and say the words.
Kav did as the book said and placed her hand out in front of her. Setting the book down, she continued to think about the words she was to say until she got them down perfectly in her brain. "Lufunay Maau!" she exclaimed, feeling a surge of power leave her hand, pushing her back a bit. It was obvious that she didn't expect the power to be so strong. Before her was a very opaque light green shield that looked like honeycomb that surrounded her from all sides. It even moved with her as she moved. It was a special, powerful shield, she could feel it radiating around her, the power almost cosmic.
After a couple minutes of touching the surface from the inside, she noticed it beginning to dissolve from the bottom upward. The magical energies dissipating rapidly.
"Alright, so I understand the Reflection Shield now. Wow, that will come in very handy when I go to battle." she said, closing the book and putting it aside. Now that she had learned one thing, she wanted to make sure that she learned the rest as well.
"Lets try this one next." she said, walking over to the one with the brightly shining white gem on the cover.
She opened it up to read:
'The spell contained in this tome allows the user to create a fist sized orb of golden light. Most useful for exploring in the dark should you run out of torches or other light sources. Experts and Masters can create multiple orbs of varying colors.'
"This should prove to be interesting. Now, what's the word for Candlelight?" she asked herself as she read the word in her mind. There were really no instructions for how to do this, so she decided to wing it.
She placed her hands out before her, imagining a bright green light in her brain. "Wofufaz!" she said aloud, feeling the tinge of power leave her body only to open her eyes to a green orb of light before her.
"Wow, that was pretty easy, heh." she said with a slight chuckle. She began to think of multiple lights next, and again she said the words aloud. This time, many different orbs of light appeared, just as she had thought it. She was quite pleased with herself.
"That spell will definitely come in handy."
Moving onto the next book, she began to read the description:
'A basic conjuration spell. This is a must-have before any other conjuration book. One must first master the basics before moving forward with more difficult incantations. This conjuration spell brings forth a small familiar whom looks adorable and is killed by a single damaging attack. This creature does nothing to aid you in battle and is specifically meant to bring joy and happiness (as well as a basic understanding of conjuration magic) to the caster and their allies.'
Going over to the other book of the same style, she opened it to read:
'Conjures a Frost Elemental who, for 5 turns, deals 10 Ice Damage to an opponent.'
She then began to think. "So, I need to do both of these. Lets see. It's a little different, but I think I can do it."
"Webilu luonilu!" she said, feeling the energies leave her body and materialize upon the ground. What it was, was too adorable for words. A small, bunny-like familiar, with extremely long ears and a very long tail. Beautiful blue eyes, and was totally fuzzy with plush white fur and an elongated body. It jumped about and began to float around in the air and all around Kavanna, giving her a laugh at the cute actions. It cooed like something she had never heard before.
It was then time to look at the other. A frost elemental summoning.
"Webilu lin!" she called, feeling the power materialize before her and over her stood a massive construct of ice with legs, arms, and a body, but no head.
"Whoa..." she said, looking up at the large monstrous beast. She took a few steps back and it began to follow. It was her little puppet to do with what she willed. That was interesting. So the day of learning these tomes was a complete success. She had tested out all of her new spells and finally, realized that it was time to take it to the field. A day of Aiskala hunting was upon her. It was time.●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●
I took out five whole Aiskala dragons today. That was the craziest battle I've ever been in. It's like, once I was able to beat one at a time, they all sort of just came at me and I was actually able to defend myself. Luckily I learned those spells when I did. They were a massive help to me. But I did it! Now I can begin my quest to getting a Gaili dragon down and then finally Diabi and Aedaun dragons. One day...
xxxxxxxxxxκαvαииαxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx→тнє υитσℓ∂ sтσяץ.: sѳℓѳ яѳℓε ρℓαч :. ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●● » teacher time
Returning home from her successful dragon hunt, Kavanna took some time to reflect on things most important to her. It was high time she got herself in gear and put her skills to the test. She had always loved her early-life instructors; who taught her the importance of life, how to keep herself out of harm's way, and great defensive tactics that she used most every time she left for a dragon hunt or came into contact with an unsavory lot.
As the day went on, she felt as though she needed to show the world her skills. She always loved younger children, being a mother at such a young age and now, not being able to see Damian every day killed her. She realized that, with her longing to care for children and her insatiable need to practice, why not try and become an instructor for young Dovaa to test their skills. Not only that, but an Apprentice could use her expertise and in turn, she may learn a thing or two as well.
This thought pleased the Dovaa to no end. She instantly began to draw up different lessons that she could use on her students. First would be the importance of battle; when to and not to use physical and magical offensive moves against an opponent. When it would be more useful to try calmly and peacefully soothing the situation rather than use physical means to end a fight.
Secondly, she would teach about the importance of a good defense. Having a powerful attack is nothing with no power to defend against such brutal attacks that many in Magesc had learned. After all, the best offense is a good defense.
Thirdly, she would teach the student about tomes and what good they were. Now that she, herself, had learned a few, quite useful, tomes, she could show off the skills the tomes produced. How they could potentially make or break a win to battle, and how dangerous some of the tomes of the world could be.
Then it would be time to practice. She realized that a sparring partner would be important, not only to her, but to her students. She would obviously try and go easy on them at first; and with time, progressively become more and more battle conscious.
These plans were just the beginning of her thought process. She wrote down as many different ways of explaining one thing as she could. However, it wouldn't be until she found her first student that she would truly know if any of these thoughts could come to fruition.
~~~
It wasn't until late that night that she realized she wouldn't necessarily even know where to begin finding a student to teach. Her mind wandered in her lonely bed as she thought of the different ways she could promote herself. Fliers and word of mouth were the main ways one could find out about this endeavor. She would definitely need a plan of attack in that department the moment she felt ready and capable of teaching a student. Until then, she would continue to plan her courses and even specialized courses for Ysali Dovaa as well; which came to her later that evening.●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

"Where are they...oh gods...where did I...AHA! There you are!" the Dovaa exclaimed, finding the lost orbs she had stashed away in a box and pulling them out to make sure they were safe and unharmed. There they all were, glowing their individual colors inside the little wooden box she had hidden away for many years. Over the course of her life she had gathered these soul orbs and waited for the day when she would be able to present them to Marcus Ysaride and become a Master Dovaa once and for all. It was every Dovaa's largest aspiration to reach the highest potential of their skill set.
Kavanna closed the box and stood up from her crouched position with the box clenched within her arms. "This box is the first step to becoming a master of Ysali magic." the Dovaa said, a grand smile upon her face. She left the room, box in hand.
"Naomi, I have news." the Dovaa said, walking into the loving mother-in-law's room holding the box.
"Oh, my darling Kavanna, what is it, child?" the old Orderite woman said from her bed, too weak to get up. She had been lying there for the past few days, too weak to leave it.
"I am going to visit Marcus Ysaride. Soon I will be a Master Ysali Dovaa. I have a little more training to do, but other than that, I am ready. So I have set up my appointment with him to get his blessing and advice. Then, once I complete my training, I will be able to graduate, finally, after all of these years, and become the Master you always knew I could become." she said, tears filling the Dovaa's eyes.
The Orderite coughed a bit and smiled, looking up with kind eyes at Kavanna. "I knew you could do it, Kavanna. I always believed in you. You're my daughter, through and through, blood or not. I love you." she said, grabbing hold of Kavanna's hand with both of hers, rubbing them gently.
"You're the only one who ever believed in my abilities from the start. And the only one who has ever continued to believe in me through the coming years. I love you too. I'll be back tomorrow. Alex should be coming home tonight. Goodbye Naomi." she said, leaving the room.
~~~
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Come in." a voice called from inside the room.
Kavanna slowly opened the door to Master Ysaride's office. "Ah, Kavanna Kaalia, or should I say, Naraama now? Haha. You have come to see me today, about your potential for growth, I assume?"
"Mm, yes, Master Ysaride. I have brought you these to prove my worth." she said, walking over and setting a leather pouch onto the table.
The master took the pouch and untied the string to release a plethora of different colored orbs upon the table. "Ah, I see you have done your dragon hunting deeds for your Expert-ship. Very nicely done. Diabi souls are here...and six of them. That's quite an impressive feat for a Dovaa of your caliber. Hmmm...and an Aedaun orb, three Gaili and five Aiskala. You've impressed me beyond words, Kavanna. This is Master work right here. Diabi and Aedaun dragons are the fiercest of foes and half of your orbs are from them. Good work. Finish the rest of your training and you will make a great Master one day." he said, packing the souls back into the pouch and putting them into a basket on the other side of his desk to be sorted at a later time.
The entire speech, all Kavanna could do was smile and blush. "I have really tried to get myself back on track, Master. After the birth of my son, I gave up, but this past year I have really tried to step it up, especially now that he's grown and in training of his own. Thank you so much for your kind words. I won't let you down." she concluded as she bowed and began to walk out.
Suddenly, Ysaride stopped her. "Kavanna, wait." he said, his hand held out.
Kavanna halted in her tracks and turned to face the master once again.
"You definitely have the potential to unlock your True Form. Next time I see you, make sure to bring five Ysali orbs. You won't regret it, I promise." he said with a smile.
Kavanna giggled a bit with a smile. She then bowed graciously one last time and left...now it was time to grow her collection. Back to Ysali.●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●
