I know Kadryn's going to lose so here's what she;'ll gain:

Kadryn was out training in the wilds. Several weeks ago she had snuck into her parent's home, grabbed her camping equipment and battle clothes and ran away with out saying anything to her parents. Only a note telling them that she needed to learn control and ask Smil for details and she would be back someday was left on the table to tell them she was fine.

She couldn't face her family, not while she was unsure of her control, not until she had explored her limits and knew them.

To do this, she lived in the wilderness, facing Dragons, wild hostile Hastars and Oralriks as she lived in their world, pushing herself, and when she felt the rage of her berserker fury coming on, she sought to control it and either force it down or use it to enhance her skills.

That was what she was doing today, she'd hunted and eaten already and was now practicing with her mace.

Kadryn shattered a large rock with her mace as she saw an approaching figure. She sensed no danger or hostility from it so she ignored it for now. Perhaps it would go away and leave her to her training.

When it didn't, she sighed and straitened, but gave a small smile as she recognized the Dovaa woman she'd met last month before beginning her solitary training. Wiping sweat from her forehead and suddenly aware that she must look lke a mess, patched clothes, tangled hair.. while this lady looked clean, neat, like she was out for an early morning walk... well what'd you expect? She though to herself, not like I have a whole closet full of clothes out her in the wild!

"Hello Kavanna. I've been busy...training." Could deliberately seeking out fights to test her control be called training? It was what she'd been doing, and while she was getting more confident, she wasn't sure if her control was good enough for sparring with people. Battling creatures was safe, but how would she do against another person.

She looked at Kavanna with a warriors eye, trying to see just how strong this lady was, strong enough to fight off Kadryn if she lost control?

The scars and muscles said possibly...

"I have a request of you. I've been learning control and feel like I've gotten a handle on my rage.. but...well, you know what I did." She gave a wry smile and waved her hand in the direction of the Ashen City. It no longer hurt so much to talk about it. She'd thought her way through it and the guilt and disgust at herself had faded.
"Would you be willing to spar with me? Knowing this? And be able to defend against me should I lost control?" If not, well, nothing lost. But if she could... Kadryn was sure sparring with a real person who could hurt her enough to drive her into a berserk rage would be a real test of her control.

She then realized that asking this out of the blue was rather rude and that perhaps she should have engaged in conversation a bit then asked.. but she really really wanted to know: could she control her rage? Or would it control her?

Kadryn gave a relieved smile. Now all she had to do was hope she'd learned enough control...

"Thank you and yes a rest would be good, I've been bashing rocks and training all morning so I am a bit tired." She went over to grab her bag, patched in several places and with some suspicious stains on it. It'd gone through many battles and years with her. I really ought to get a new one she thought to herself...
She then sat on a rock near Kavanna and grabbed a rag from her bag and soaked it in water before wiping off her sweat.

"As for how long I've been training? Since I was real small, about 6 years old... " She grinned, a real grin with no sadness or doubt in it. "Though that 's probably not what you were asking! Since I last met you I've lived out here in the wild training night and day, testing myself and my control. Haven't been home since" She waved her hand off to the west, away from any populated areas. A sad expression passed over her face. She missed her family, wanted to go home, but she couldn't. Not yet, not until she could control herself.. then she'd head home and talk to her family. She'd seen her father out looking for her now and then, though she'd made sure to hide from him. She wasn't ready yet.. though if she could control herself here.. then she'd head home, let them know what had happened everything....

Kadryn saw the shock on the older woman's face. She wondered if this woman realized how old Kadryn was and how long she'd been out hunting and stuff.. she'd always been at home i the wilds, and living here wasn't a problem.. though she missed her family a lot.

When she offered to let Kadryn into her home for a while, Kadryn was honored that this woman trusted her so much... but it was too near Ashen City, much too near. She might run into a student from the Citadel....

"Thank you for your offer, but it was in Ashen City that I.. that I went berseker so... " She shrugged. What had happened had happened. Now all she had to do was pick up the pieces and make it work... and to do that, she needed to test her control.

"Alright, I'm rested, lets get to it!" Kadryn felt her blood begin to stir in anticipation. No matter how she disliked the fact that her berserker side made her so dangerous, she couldn't help but look forward to battle, to fighting.

She stretched a bit and then grabbed her mace as she walked out into the middle of the meadow. Holding her mace firmly in one hand, Kadryn reached inside herself to access the little bit of magic she had. Her eyes glowed and a transparent armor covered her body as she used that magic to create a shield. Kavanna had the look of a mage and Kadryn knew that mage's packed a nasty punch, after all Maslin had caused her to flash over into a rage when he had hither with his strongest spell. That had hurt, and Kadryn knew that the older mages were stronger...

Once the battle started, she'd have to see if she could channel her rage into her attacks and keep control like she could against dragons.

Kadryn narrowed her eyes as she saw the magic shield go up. It looked strong. But she'd notice in some of her ealier training that some magic shields didn't stop physical attacks? Was this one?.. No, her opponent was experienced, she wouldn't throw up a shield that had no effect on Kadryn's mace.

Kadryn gave a small grin as she charged forward, mace held low and then swung... not at Kavanna, but at her shield. It had to go! The mace smashed into the shield and the sound of metal screeching echoed across the meadow, scaring some birds. Kadryn jumped back quickly, mace held ready for her next attack.

Kadryn felt the leaves cut her and snarled in pain. Her vision was filled with red and her blood pounded in her ears as a feral grin stretched across her face. She controlled the rage, barely, and channeled it into her muscles as she smashed through the leaves slicing her and at the Dovaa woman with her shield. The shield shattered into shards of light, slicing Kadryn more and she growled through the pain as she flared her wings and flew into the sky for her next attack. The enemy, no Kavanna, had wings, but Dovaa weren't born with them, and she was. Kadryn bet she could definitely win in an aerial battle... plus she had to get away from the ground. The enemy, Kadryn struggled against the rage, Kavanna was Ysali, they were most dangerous amid plants.. the sky would be safer... and provide more chances for attacks....

Attacking.. she should be attacking, shredding the foe! NO..no.. she must keep calm, not loose control.... Kadryn shook her head and frowned, how she wanted to let go and give in, fights were just so much better when she didn't have to think.... But she mustn't, she must learn control....

The healing helped Kadryn keep focused on the fact that Kavanna was not an enemy but a friend. But this was a battle and Kadryn was not about to go softly just cause she'd been healed.. plus there was no need to not hit with her fullest strength. Kavanna was strong, mush stronger than Kadryn was.
Kadryn grinned, she'd been facing weak opponents for so long she'd forgotten what it was like to be challenged by something other than her rage. Exhilaration filled her, the same exhilaration that she'd first felt so long ago that had called her to the mace, the exhilaration that had come with the rage but without its guilt and pain.

Perhaps this was what she'd been missing. A challenge that required her to fight with everything she had... the rage didn't seem so bad, in fact it added to the exhilaration. Kadryn grinned and flared her wings before dropping down towards Kavanna, mace at her side until he was in range, then she spun and put all the force of her wings, arms, and fall into her blow.

Kadryn felt a thrill as she kit and drew blood. But when she saw magic being gathered by her opponent she used her large wingspan to beat a gust of wind at Kavanna as she flew up into the sky to avoid the beam of light. Blood pounding in her veins, Kadryn felt more alive and happy than she had in the past few weeks. A thought floated through her mind, guess I just got to not fight when I'm pissed or upset and the thrill of battle is just a thrill, not a rage.... The thought was there and then gone again as Kadryn prepared for her next diving attack.
