BOSS HP: 1151/1500 Please put this header at the top of your post from now on!Character Name and journal link HP: Location: Action: Interaction Roll: (if applicable; please declare which puzzle tower you are attempting to solve BEFORE rolling) Damage/Healing/Buff Done: (if applicable!) MAP: (Click for fullsize!) Squares should be treated as 5 feet by 5 feet, so please consider that when using magical attacks! COMBAT MECHANICS:Please review this post for dice mechanics! If you have a late blooming or Deep Space Senshi with unstable magic, or a Knight who has unlocked Cosmic Resonance, for one round (either this one or the next one) you may double their roll, once. Characters take no damage this round! Each character will be targeted by one additional fungal skeleton on top of any remaining from the last round; these skeletons now have 3 HP each and only do 2 DMG automatically. When destroyed, the skeletons will reform from whatever bone detritus they can find; this probably means they're going to get freakier the longer we go. Damage is now divided if you choose to target the skeletons--for each multiple of five damage you do, one skeleton will be destroyed, but any not destroyed will persist into the next round. If you choose to target the boss, all damage is applied to it, but all of your skeletons remain standing (unless someone kindly backs you up!). Further, all characters, including downed ones, are healed to half health (round up to 38 for second stages)! LOW HP MECHANICS:If your character drops below half health, the fog begins to close in around them, and strange shapes begin to materialize within. The lower your character's HP gets, the clearer the shapes are, and they will always be things that cause characters great terror. If a character hits 0 HP, they are incapacitated by fear and can no longer fight.

Blarney, Squire of EarthHP: 38 + 15 = 53/75 Location: C9->D7 Action: Freaking out & speechifying to help raise the hope level around here Interaction Roll: N/A Damage/Healing/Buff Done: None People were dropping. People were - maybe dying - his sister - his sister-- The Senshi whose home this was, she fell in the water-- He chased after her, scanning the water - she couldn't be gone, she couldn't be gone someone needed to be in charge someone needed to figure out how to save them someone needed to kill the monster she couldn't be gone no no no no-- Blarney couldn't breathe-- -- and then he could. His hair fluttered slightly in the breeze, the tightness in his chest loosening, just a fraction. He looked over his shoulder and saw his sister rise from where she'd dropped dazedly to her knees, and the knot loosened further. We're going to be okay, Blarney said to himself, setting his jaw as he looked back at the beasty. This thing will not destroy us. We're going to be okay."We draw the line here," Blarney shouted to those behind him, a faint golden glow flickering to life, limning him in a soft shine. "Everyone - take heart. We can win this. We have to. For--" oh, uh, he didn't actually even remember this Senshi's name, whoops, "--for all of us, and for her, and for this planet. We cannot give up! Get up, gather close, protect each other, and if I can, I will give cover to anyone who can attack that monster." Quote: Enhancement: Aura of Believability, or the Gift of Gab This enhancement makes him seem like a more compelling speaker and can inspire people to listen to him. He may seem more believable and trustworthy to his audience. This enhancement does not allow him to directly impose his will on others or control their behavior or actions but it does make him seem more believable or convincing. Quote: ASPECT OF EARTH: As upholders of virtue, Earth Knights have a saintly presence and seem to be always followed by sunlight, even at night. They have increased sensitivity to movements around them, and can always tell when someone is trying to sneak up on them -- which means there is no advantage to fighting them any way but honorably. Edam, Page of CybeleHP: 25 + 15 = 40/50 (she almost absolutely would've gone down, thank u dagon & tianyi) Location: C9 Action: Not being dead -> attac Interaction Roll: Physical attack (1d8 ) Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 7 damage to big bad One moment, she was barley hanging onto her cool. The next, the world was going dark, with pain erupting across her back as she fell down, down, down to her knees. She reached for her brother, or she thought she did, but he was gone - gone, gone, gone, like the hope of surviving this, she'd only been magical for ten minutes and it was already all over, she knew this would kill the both of them-- And her mind cleared. Edam blinked, and her slingshot came into hazy focus. What was it Joy had said? The Code knew what it was doing, since she wouldn't have a weapon in her hand and not use it. Mason - Blarney - was speaking, it sounded faraway, but he was alive. They were alive. They could do this. Somehow. Without rising from her knees, Edam grabbed another bit of spare bone, slotted it into her sling, aimed, and let it zing through the air, aiming for the monster's head. "I will not let you take me down," Edam ground out. "I will not be taken down by you." Slowly, Edam rose to her feet. It only mattered how many times you got back up - not how many times you were knocked down. That saying had never felt more literal. Deep Space Sailor Kua'kua of HelleboreHP: 25 + 15 = 40/50 (she was totally down, ty Dagon & Tianyi) Location: C9 -> D7 Action: Not being dead -> attack Interaction Roll: 10+1d6 x2 Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 4 = 14 x 2 = 28 Kua'kua had wanted to do so much. She had had so many dreams. It felt like they belonged to someone else, but - she did have them. She had goals for what she could do for her planet, before it all turned to rot. Then she had plans for how to save it. Then, on Earth, she had plans for how to save it - or at least plans to figure out how to plan to save it. She had just begun to have hope again - the idea that somehow, somewhen, maybe Kua'kua the planet could live again, like these other planets. But Kua'kua was far away from its Sailor Scout, and she was only one small creature, surrounded by fog and skeletons and it was just - too much. She couldn't do it. She couldn't do it. She wanted to be back in her cocoon. She wanted this to be a nightmare she could wake up from. But it wasn't - it was life, and it was forev-- Kua'kua blinked, slowly, her eyes rising toward the water. Like a switch being flipped on, the despair began to disappear. She could see a little more clearly. The fighters around her were also rising where they had fallen, or looking stronger if they were - somehow - still standing. Someone was speaking. Someone was moving-- Wait, no. She was the one who was moving. She stuttered to her feet, body trembling, as she limped toward the path of the beast. " Petal Perfume," Kua'kua hissed, her breath carrying the illusory petals from the palm of her hand up up up and into the wind, into the monster's face. If they were to lose - if she were to die - it would not be with opportunities to fight remaining. The least she could do for her people - her family, however many hundreds of years gone they were - was fight to stay alive, for them. It was the least she could do for this planet, in the hope that someday, she could do the same for her own planet. Quote: OOC: Rolling for Kua'kua in the next post!

Joyeuse Garde, Knight of EarthHP: (58 + 15 healing from Tianyi) 73 Location: D8 (Boss in range of magic and forgotten spell) Action: Last forgotten spell bolt @ Leviathan Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 6 + 6 from carterhaugh x2 for CR = 44 "I think I have a black eye," said Joy, furious. "I'm going to lose so much work. This is so much bullshit." It had been easier to think of the black eye than of the fact that people were dropping like so many flies. But that seemed to have been at least partially undone - a heartening development that she felt vindicated her opinion that this was, in fact, so much bullshit. It was getting quite crowded in this particular area, which made it hard to get a solid swing of the whip in. But she did, exhausting her final spell bolt, which shot forward with such unexpected violence that she stumbled back a step or two, and then pretended like she meant to do that. "Hit it harder," she snapped at Grieve, which was probably just her trying to reciprocate obvious advice, but also possibly was smugness for her accomplishment.

Sailor Alekto of ScreamsHP: 25 Location: D7 Action: Attacking Leviathan Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 4 x 2 for late blooming = 28 Well, what a waste of a scream. It was impossible to know what to do or how to do it. Even instinct, at this point, was failing her. She was trying to scramble towards Creedence, trying to get the cat into her arms, although it wasn't quite clear whether it was to try and protect her from the onslaught or because if anyone was going to kill her it was going to be Alekto herself. The see-saw of unstable magic re-asserted itself, then swung wide in the opposite direction. It would have been nice to hear an answering scream from the beast itself, but it was enough to know that it had to have felt it. "How many times am I supposed to die here?" she demanded hoarsely, furious.

Carterhaugh, Squire of Earth HP: 53/75 Location: D9 Action: Buff magic to everyone in D8/D9! Interaction Roll: N/A Damage/Healing/Buff Done: Everyone in D8/D9 may add 6 to their rolls!
The fog was clearing. From their mind or from the field, Carterhaugh couldn't be sure.
A shimmering, foggy shield wrapped around them, and Carterhaugh watched the skeletons seem to bounce off it, and the water the leviathan splashed up pass around them harmlessly. Something was protecting them. All of them--they could see similar shields around other people on the field.
And something inside them felt...compelled. They could see the Senshi that had called them all there (Dagon) getting pulled into the water--but there were still so many where she had been. And maybe their magic would reach her anyway, and give her the courage to fight on. Maybe it would help the others, too--the Senshi (Morgan) and Knight (Ekstrom) holding barriers, the other aliens, so many gathered on that massive stone pathway.
They could get close enough, they thought.
They ran forward, moving as close to the shore as they dared, and reached within themself to call on their magic.
The soft scent of roses joined the scent of sea air for those close enough, and while Carterhaugh didn't have any inspiring speeches at the moment, they did have a confident little smile.
Maybe no one would realize where their little extra boost had come from. Maybe Carterhaugh didn't care. Maybe that wasn't the point.
Maybe what mattered was that they did what they could.Quote: Carterhaugh concentrates, and their rose glows with a soft golden light. The area around them is filled with the scent of roses, and allies within eight feet of Carterhaugh feel bolder and more virtuous, as if they could face any fears. Carterhaugh can channel for up to 30 seconds at this stage.

Under different circumstances Bacchus might have felt relief as the strange shield enveloped him. But now. Now this was nothing but an affront to the dead. A condemnation. Leaving him to the mercy of the fungus that undoubtedly infested his blood. <******** it. “Gleeful Bacchanal!”A startling swell of power rose within him as his magic surge forth. Warmth spread through his body, a fraction of moment in which he was himself again. The eternal guardian of his planet swaggering through the mead hall in the glow of life and family. For the first time in an eternity he felt the thrum of energy within his ring. And then it was gone. His wrecked body finally demanding its due in attention. Bacchus’ eyes slid closed against the tears that threatened to compound his humiliation. No time for that.

DSS Arcalís of AdversityHP: 40 / 50 (13, raised to 25 + 15 from Tianyi’s healing) last round: 14 – 6 for the leviathan [damage halved first by Morgan, then by Regal] – 1 [two skellies; damage halved twice by Morgan and Regal] + 6 from Ekstrom’s shield = 13 HP. Location: D8. Action: Attacking the boss (first stage magic, direct damage + the bonus from Carterhaugh, doubled for DSS wild magic). Interaction Roll: 1. Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 1 + 6 [Carterhaugh's buff] = 17 x2 for DSS wild magic = 34 damage. Arcalís had no idea what Madriu was seeing in the fog. Only the fact that Madriu had snarled at something let Arcalís know that something was troubling his lifelong partner in all things. He was moving in Madriu’s direction, to reassure him as Madriu had done for him, when Arcalís’s eyes lit up at the sight of something unexpected. A new gesture he’d never seen Madriu use before, and a rush of color and power both familiar in its overall appearance and something entirely—
“New magic?” Arcalís called out to Madriu, his voice brighter than it probably had any right to be under the circumstances (large battle full of suffering and strife, massive threats to everyone present, and so on). “Kyzaile, that’s amazing! You—”
Unfortunately, Arcalís had moved without regard for the fog tendrils trying to grab everyone up.
Fortunately, however, others on the battlefield seemed to be looking out for as many as they could. Nearby, a large and notably not-human senshi (the elfin ears gave it away [Lovas]) fought bravely against his skeletons. Somewhat between him and Arcalís, however, there stood a Squire of Chronos (Regal)—Arcalís hadn’t known very many in the past, but he recognized the colors and their symbol nevertheless—and that Squire joined the senshi and Mercury Knight in providing a shield. His seemed more limited in its scope, and Arcalís smiled, seeing that the Squire had used his strength to protect him as well as the other space-born senshi.
“Thank you!” Maybe the battlefield wasn’t the best place for formalities or anything. But kindly acknowledging those who’d helped you was important. So Arcalís called to the Squire, “You’re very kind, you—”
Arcalís cut himself off. Out of the corner of his eye, he thought he noticed something. With a gasp, he turned to look, just in time to see Dagon being pulled beneath the waves.
But……what? No, that……that couldn’t…… While the glowing water in the basin attracted some interest from him, Arcalís mostly stood, staring at the place where Dagon had disappeared, and wondering how such a thing could happen in the middle of saving her world.
A pillar of light crashed up from out of the sea. Then, a rush of sensation: shimmers in the air, the mixed scents of a salty breeze and roses. The skeletons around them seemed like nothing worthy of concern, and more than that, Arcalís couldn’t see anything in the fog that looked at all like Mauritz, as if that ghost from his past had been entirely banished by the rush of strength among them all. Calling on his magic one more time, he twirled and swept his hand through the air at the leviathan. Let it struggle. Adversity would come for all, even monsters such as itself.

Character Name and journal link Ibirapitá of ShadeHP: 25/50 Location: C4 Action: hurling sea debris Interaction Roll: 1d6 Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 5 dmg (used 1/3 shields) There was a part of Ibirapitá that hadn't believed that had just worked. It had been more cycles than he could count since magic had successfully flown out of his fingers. There was an emptiness it left behind in that way; momentarily, he felt alive and like his actions could truly have an impact and consequences, but after, it seemed that something else had taken it from him once more. There was a planetary resurgence of some sort as people returned to their feet, but Ibirapitá was not absent of senses. He knew that was not him, and he knew his magic wasn't coming to his hands again. But was there a point? It seemed everyone else was able to give it another swing, with or without him. Ibirapitá found himself biting down on his tongue so hard that perhaps it would bleed. "Ibi!" Abzu's voice broke through. "To the ground!" To what ground? They were surrounded by water. Ah. Ibirapitá supposed these people did not deserve this mental torment in the way he did. Even as skeletons were hunting for the debris to reform themselves, Ibirapitá picked up a few pieces and hurled them at the leviathan.

Eternal Sailor AlastorHP: 50 / 100 Location: D7 Action: Attacking boss with emotional damage [despair/gloom/misery/hopelessness/fatigue/drained/disoriented] Interaction Roll: N/A Damage/Healing/Buff Done: (Super Stage Magic: 10 + 2d4) = 14 Alastor would have torn apart every skeleton, into pieces too small to reform into anything substantial, if something happened to Lucien here.
Of course he trusted him, of course.
But hearing Lucien call his name like that made him bristle all the same. But Lucien was back on his shoulders soon enough–trembling, but there.
Alastor raised an arm and rested his hand over Lucien’s back, as if to hold him in place, or to protect his backside while he recovered.
“Got it,” he promised–to both Lucien and Sessrumnir.
He couldn’t see Dagon, but in the fog it was hard to see much of anything. He’d have known where the Leviathan was by sound alone. Invigorated, it made it easy to target.
An Earth Squire (Blarney) had moved closer; he seemed to be doing his best to rally those around him. It was admirable, considering how young he was. Fog obscured much of the area. Alastor wondered if the Leviathan could track them by sound like he was tracking it.
With Blarney, another Senshi from beyond Earth (Kua'kua) arrived, easily recognizable by her colorful appearance, which stood out against the pale fog. The area was a little crowded, but he knew Sessrumnir was capable of minding where his weapon swung.
Another senshi (Alekto)–maybe– mentioned how many times she was supposed to die here. Ideally none, but Alastor didn’t recognize her, either. The fog made it impossible to tell who came from where or what was happening beyond his line of sight.
Mindful not to disrupt anyone nearby or send them tumbling into the water, Alastor cast his magic towards the Leviathan again.
Quote: Super Sailor Scout Attack: Absence - Alastor speaks the name of his attack and every enemy nearby will feel a complete absence of hope, replaced instead with a strong sensation of despair. The area feels thick with gloom and misery and targets may feel as if there is suddenly an unbeatable obstacle they have no chance to overcome. Targets may feel absolute hopelessness and they may become acutely aware of the hardships and loss in their life. The magic can make someone feel fatigued or physically exhausted and can be disorienting and emotionally draining. The magic lasts for thirty five seconds and has two uses. It affects all enemies within a twelve foot radius of Alastor and the magic will follow him if he moves, but the effects end if the character moves out of radius.

Lucien (Mauvian form)HP: 25 / 75 Location: D9 > D7 Action: Attacking boss Interaction Roll: N/A Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 1d6 Mauvian Claws ( 11) Lucien stayed tucked beneath Alastor’s hand for a moment, letting the new fog settle around them. The touch steadied him, enough that the trembling in his limbs became more background noise than something that threatened to keep his attention.
Alastor moved, along with Sessrumnir. Lucien pushed himself upright on Alastor’s shoulder and focused his attention on the leviathan. Sessrumnir took down one tendril moving too close to Alastor, and when another tendril whipped toward Alastor’s flank, Lucien braced, then launched himself forward just enough to rake his claws across it.
He climbed back up immediately, settling into pace with determination in his posture.
“Good strike,” he said quietly as Alastor’s magic swirled around their target. He didn’t look away from the monster’s core. Quote: Mauvian Claws: When struck by these enhanced claws, Lucien’s opponent will feel an itching, decaying sensation around the wound. Black quickly fills the veins surrounding the laceration, giving a horrible sensation as though the area was rotting away. The effects can last for ten seconds if the Mauvian is in their natural form or fifteen seconds if the Mauvian is in their humanoid or Senshi form, and will start to fade soon after, unless the player wants to take extended damage. Sessrumnir, Knight of JupiterHP: 50 / 100 Location: D9 > D7 Action: Attacking boss Interaction Roll: N/A Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 3d6 direct magic x2 (Cosmic Resonance) ( 44) Alastor’s hand settling over Lucien’s back caught Sessrumnir’s eye for just a moment. Long enough to see the tremor, and the way Alastor steadied him without breaking his momentum.
Good. Both of them were still moving forward.
The protective fog swept over the field, and Sessrumnir took the opening it gave them. He surged forward, blade held low until the leviathan’s ribcage was close enough to strike.
“Keep it distracted,” he said, lifting his sword. “I’ve got the rest.”
The next swing landed with force that echoed through the stone beneath them. A tendril swept low from the left, and Sessrumnir stepped into its path to hack it down before it could wrap around Alastor’s legs.
The field was chaotic, but none of it mattered as long as Alastor had a clear opening to the core of the beast.
Sessrumnir would do whatever he could to keep that path open. He reset his stance beside Alastor, ready to drive in again the moment the monster shifted. Quote: Knight Weapon: Broad blade with lethal magic.
