Links to RP(s) that show how the Soquili has grown over time, proving his or her development into an Elder:(Some of these are dreadfully old, for which I apologize. However they are still storyline relevant.)Fatherly Bonding - Young Leilani spending time with her father Colonel. It had always just been the two of them, no mother or siblings to miss. Just Papa and his two legged friend Niyol to look after. It was much of how her foalhood was, quiet and peaceful. Her father did his best and she was not old enough to understand what had actually transpired with the rest of their family. She would see her siblings and her mother very
very rarely.
A Pink Stallion?! - A first meeting with Rhapsody, a young stallion sulking and lamenting the fact that he is pink and Leilani teaches him a lesson or two about appearances and that, ironically, he was needlessly sulking. The two begin to bond after that. He became one of her very first friends outside of her family and the village children who doted on her.
Check In - Colonel and Leilani get a chance to talk after she's been off doing her own thing for a while. He has never met Rhapsody since the stallion never really stayed in the village for any length of time.
A Gathering of New Faces - Leilani is a bit older now and she's begun branching off on her own away from her father. Rhapsody introduces her to Taylor and Sunflash who are friends of his. Once the two new friends wander off on their own she and Rhapsody are left to themselves and end up playing a game of tag. This is about the time where their friendship starts to spark more feelings. Inexperience has her reading far deeper into it all then she probably should have, but he was her first love.
Too Many Sugarcubes - It seems a little bit of fun has turned to trouble. Leilani discovered that she was pregnant and she breaks the news to Rhapsody who has a hard time believing it at first. He assures her that he will not leave so long as she is not angry at him for putting her in this situation. They agree to meet her father. Plans change and he heads off to prebreak the news to his family before bringing her to meet them, leaving Leilani to talk her father on her own.
Parenthood - Leilani waited for Rhapsody to return and still he had not - weeks, perhaps months, later. Her belly hung low and there wasn't anymore time to delay it telling her father.
Two Mothers - Rhapsody has returned, practically just in time for the foals. Leilani heads off for some time on her own before the impending birth and meets Aishwarya, another expecting mare. She voices some of her fears about being a mother. Though there is little to do about it now, in her heart she knows she is not ready for foals and the responsibility they bring.
Division - Foals are safely nestled in their baskets and Leilani's tender heart breaks as she and Rhapsody part ways for good. One of the baskets, and thus one of her sons - the boy named Avery - goes with him. She is left with the pink and brown basket that cradles Allegro and a deep sadness burrowing into her chest. (
This is where I lost touch with Skylar so it was never actually roleplayed out.)
Mirror, Mirror Little Colt - Allegro has emerged from his basket and Leilani finds herself having a difficult time bonding with him. Of the two this boy resembles his father the most. She wonders if Rhapsody did this on purpose, leaving her little little mirror image of himself just to hurt her. Her young son in the meanwhile does not understand what he has done wrong to upset his mother so much.
Little Hoof Steps - Her son has had some time to grow and Leilani has gotten a little better, but she still isn't quite the parent her son needs. She becomes more emotionally distant and Colonel steps in to try and give her some advice. All the while Allegro is just happy to see his grandfather.
Parting Ways - Allegro is nearly grown so Leilani decides to take her leave and take some real time to herself. Colonel is against it but eventually he relents, promising to do what he can for Allegro in her stead. Though he has become quite the wild child since his mother does little to rein him in. By this time he would have hardly listened anyway, given she's hardly been a parent to him.
(There was a fairly large lapse in RP time here.)Reconcile? - Eventually Leilani journeys home and makes up with her father. Her son, however, has no such intentions of forgiveness. He leaves with bitter and hurtful words. ('He will come around.' her father said. 'Perhaps when he tells me off for good.' she replied.) In attempt to distract her Colonel accompanies her on a journey for a while before they part ways with the intention of meeting up later.
Lands of the Valley Herd - Once she split off from her father Leilani headed toward a valley at the base of the mountain range. A chance encounter brings her face to face with Siebel for the first time. They spend some time together before eventually parting ways with the promise of Leilani's return.
Breaks in Her Armor - Leilani realizes she might have feelings toward Siebel. She reminisces a bit and weighs her options. Ultimately she decides it is better to wait until she knows for sure what is in her heart before telling the truth. Her return to the Valley is delayed as she heads for Imladris instead.
(The Imladris bit was loosely plotted with Amyrinth since she has no time for RP these days.)Respite in Imladris - She visits Imladris and finds herself with an escort named Lothlorien for the duration of her stay with the herd. Leilani let herself be caught up in his charms, hoping to ease the burdens of her mind and heart. Their time together was brief compared to her stay, but it was enough to give her respite from current concerns while causing others.
Trickster Season - It was late in the autumn when Leilani found herself heavy with foals once again. Lothlorien had proved to be sweet and kind, but what she felt for him was not love. He understood that their tryst was just that and they came to an understanding. The foals would become part of the Imladris herd and she could come and see them when and if she wished to. Essentially relieving her of responsibility should she want that.
Unexpected Results - Winter is quickly coming when Leilani returns home, quite heavy with foals. In her absence her son has had a change of heart and they reconcile somewhat. She also meets her father's new companion a lovely mare named Irierath.
Well, this is Awkward! - Leilani meets Zuleikha, the source of Allegro's change of heart. It seems she's talked some sense into him. The hippogryph also explains Allegro's point of view to Leilani as well. It is rather enlightening given how much of his life she spent being practically absent. Mending the relationship of mother and son would take time but at least it would be easier now.
Three Little Baskets - She returns to Imladris before the winter fully sets in and gives birth days after her arrival to three odd, but healthy, foals. During this relative isolation it gives her time to think on things and she finds her focus has changed since seeing her family again. She can be a real mother to these foals to make up for her failure with her son. The past did not need to be a hindrance any longer. It wouldn't happen in a day but it was a start.
Siebel - It had nearly been two seasons now since she had first journeyed to the Valley. Still, she would have some time yet before she could keep the the promise to her
beloved. (Yes, beloved. That word felt like the right one...) Perhaps her foals would be sturdy enough come spring to accompany her to the Valley. They would certainly enjoy the journey.
Leap of Faith - Little Valeria accompanies Leilani to the Valley.
Why would your Soquili (IC) choose the Elder path? She's had an interesting life with lots of experiences. Growing up alone with just her father, then young first love and shortly after that first time mother. Raising her son, or rather attempting to, was the first real grown up experience she had. It was very scary for her and admittedly she did not do so well. Her father did what he could to soften the blow for Allegro and Leilani but he was the colt's grandfather, not the father that he felt like he needed then. Leilani spent many years dwelling on that time and regretting her mistakes, unable to forgive herself for inexperience. Otherwise she was very closed off emotionally, and often very distant physically, even to her own immediate family. Bonding with her son was difficult because he was a product of a broken heart and so he essentially ran wild left to his own devices. The resentment built up for years and would probably have come to a head once Allegro was grown had he not met Zuleikha.
During one of her times abroad Leilani met her future lovemate Siebel for the very first time - though they would not be together for some time yet. The sweet winged mare opened the tiniest cracks in her 'armor'; she made her smile, she made her laugh, which was something she had not done in years. It wasn't until they parted ways that Leilani found the beginnings of feelings blossoming in her heart for the mare. It left her feeling apprehensive and reminded just a little of her brief time with Rhapsody. Was it better to tell or not to tell? What would Siebel think, what would she say? She decided it was better to wait until she was absolutely sure how she felt about the other mare before returning so they could speak about it honestly.
Late last autumn she found herself in the lands of Imladris, just a stop on her journey while she continued to sort out her feelings. A stallion named Lothlorien was her companion for all the time she spent in the herd's lands. She slipped and let herself be caught up in his charms, hoping to ease the burdens of her own mind. Their time together was brief and it did earn her a brief respite from her own concerns. (Un)fortunately the trickster spirits had other mischief in mind and before long Leilani found herself heavy with foals - Lothlorien's foals to be precise. He was kind and sweet but she did not love him. To his credit the stallion was surprisingly understanding given the situation. They came to an agreement that suited both of them well enough. Leilani would return to her family and let them know where she had been and where she was returning to to give birth to the foals. The children would remain a part of Imladris herd, for the most part, but she was free to come and see them or take them on adventures when she wished. It would largely free of her responsibility unless she wished it to be otherwise.
Her family was surprised to see her when she returned, even more so given the state she was in. It was a much better welcome, particularly on the part of Allegro, than she expected to get. It seemed he had forgiven her in his own way, the bitterness in his voice was gone when they spoke. It may not seem like much but it was a start, an important one. She also met Zuleikha, the mare her son had welcomed into his life and Irierath, the young draft mare who had caught her father's heart. Leilani's time with her family was brief but she had to return to Imladris to honor her agreement with Lothlorien. Besides, she had no want to give birth to foals in the snow by herself. The foals, all three of them, came days after her return to Imladris. She remained and watched over the baskets they had been placed in, despite their oddities they seemed healthy and that was good enough for her.
During her relative isolation she had more time to think and surprisingly she was much more clear headed than she had been before. If her family could heal and let love in, then perhaps she could as well and in more than one way. She could love these foals and be a mother to them, a real mother this time. She felt that she owed that much to her son for meeting her halfway and to herself as a testament of growth. She would endeavor not to be that scared fillie-ish mare any longer. This was when and where she would start over, the past was the past and she did not want to be hindered any longer. It could not happen all in one day but in this moment she could make a promise and commit herself to that course.
Over the days that followed her thoughts wandered more and more often back to Siebel. It had been two seasons and she had not yet been able to keep her promise to return. And she would not be able to travel yet until it was closer to spring and the snow thawed. That and there was the small matter of her young foals - two girls and a boy all wonderful and full of life. Perhaps they would be sturdy enough come Spring that one, or more, could accompany her back to the Valley Herd to see her
beloved.

beloved. That word felt like the right one.
When the thaw came she left Imladris with young Valeria in tow and true hope in her heart for the first time in a very long time. These were the first steps to that promise she made over her young foals' baskets.
Why have you chosen the Elder path for your Soquili OOC?Because of how much growing up Leilani has done over the years. She has finally put herself on a healthy path and desires to continue growing in a positive direction. I hope for her to achieve eldership as symbol of that growth, as it truly means the next stage of her life.
