Leilani stared into the stream she'd just been drinking from. Such a normal reflection. The young mare's tail swished absently. Sometimes she wished she was more flashy and colorful like some of the other Soquili she'd seen, but other times she was grateful she was so plain. She snorted and stuck a hoof into the cool water, causing her reflection to break into ripples and tossing her head slightly afterward so that some of the water that had soaked into her mane while she drank would fall away.

Rhapsody walked absent mindedly up the stream. Since his father's introduction of what was to most likely become his step-mother, he needed some time to think things over alone and by himself. He had been unable to find Az or his Aunt Ever to talk things through with. Sighing the large pink stallion continued on his walk not really paying much attention since he had so much on his mind.

Startled by the crush of grass further up the bank, Leilani let out a little whinny, her ears flicking about for the source of the sound and they pricked in suprise when she found it. The mare's gaze flicked to the spot and there stood a stallion...a very pink stallion. She couldn't help but look at him, his color was suprisingly cheerful...though he seemed sad.

Upon hearing the whinny, the stallion jerked his head up in suprise. He had not realized he had come up on someone else. Feeling a bit embarassed he answered the whinny and looked for the soquili it had come from. He found a brown coated and white maned mare standing before him at the water's edge.

Leilani trotted down the bank to the unfamiliar pink stallion, her curiosity getting the better of her. "Why so sad?" Her tail flicked absently again as she watched him. "Oh....and what's your name?" Her ears somewhat flattened and she wore a sheepish expression. Silly girl, should've asked his name first...before butting into his problems.

He cocked his head rather suprised at her brashness in talking to him even before seeing if he was friendly or not. "Uh, my name is Rhapsody and I don't think my problems should matter to you. You wouldn't understand them anyway." he said unsure of the mare. "What's your name by the way?" might as well get her name since he gave her his.

The mare was under the general impression that everyone was approachable and tolerable of others to some sort of degree, obviously a bit of a childish and mistaken view...but it was her view. "Leilani." Her expression brightened, but remained a little sheepish. "Sorry..."

The pink stallion shurgged his shoulders. "It's okay, nothing to really be sorry for, I don't think. It's also nice to meet you, Leilani." he said and gave her a causious glance. He flicked his tail to try and shake the nervous feeling that was beginning to well up in his stomach. Az was right, he deffinately needed to try and get out more...maybe.

"It's nice to meet you as well." Leilani bowed her head slightly before straightening, she was brought up to be polite. "I've never seen you around before...where are you from?"

"I live over by the river. I am not out much, at least not where others can see me. That might be why you have not seen me around before." he said and dipped his head down to take a drink of the cool water. He did hide from others and rarely came out too much. Not because he didn't want to meet others but because he was afriad too...because of his color and all.

"Mmm.." Leilani grinned as she watched him and flicked her ears. "I stay with Papa and his two legger in the village...it's nice there you should come down for a visit sometime."

Rhapsody shifted his feet a bit. He had never been to the village and hadn't planned on ever going there. "I don't know about that. I don't really fit in there." he said to her.

"Your Soquili, just like the rest of us..why wouldn't you?" Leilani seemed a little saddened. He wasn't different from any of the others really, except for the two leggers of course.

"Because I am pink, if you hadn't noticed. I am a girly looking soquili. I was probably supposed to be female and by some twisted fate of the spirits they made me a male for everyones amusement." he said bitterly. How was it that she didn't see the obvious? Of course he wouldn't fit in with all the other stallions because they weren't bright pink and girly looking.

"Just 'cause your pink doesn't make you girly looking. I think your color suits you." Leilani snorted, annoyed that he thought of himself the way he did. "If they did it...it's to teach you to look past the fur to see how others are."
