 Leilani trotted through the high grass of a field not far from the village. She watched the treeline waiting for her dear friend to appear. Something had happened between them not long ago and she'd begun to notice a change in herself. Her belly had grown over the last while and now she was somewhere in the neighborhood of pleasantly plump.
At first she hadn't thought anything of it, thinking it might be all the treats from the two leggers. Now she knew better, she had seen other mares like this. She was heavy with foals, Rhapsody's children.
The little brown mare hadn't the courage to face her Dada with the news on her own, so she waited for the pink stallion to appear. Though, before attending to the task of informing her Dada he was going to be a granddada, she still had to tell Rhapsody the news.
Leilani paced nervously in the field. Rhapsody...where are you!?

 Rhapsody yawned and walked through the forest in a daze. He was bored and yet was enjoying his solitude. Things were slow at the teepee and everyone was out doing thier own thing. It was a nice day to be out though. Unfortunately he hadn't run into any of his "friends". He hadn't seen his adopted sister Az in ages and wondered what she was up too. Then there were also the many mares he had become friends with. The last one he had seen was Leilani. He wondered what she was up too and if she was out with her father or somewhere else doing something by herself.

Leilani spotted a flash of pink at the edge of the forest. "Rhapsody!" She called, hoping it was the stallion and not her imagination playing tricks on her. "Hey!" She pawed nervously at the dirt as she waited for an answer.

The pink stallions ears perked at the familiar voice calling to him. He looked around and finally spotted the one who had called to him. "Hey!" he called out to her cheerfully and picked up a trot to go greet her. As he got closer he could tell something was different about her but he couldn't tell exactly what it maybe. She seemed to be a little fatter than he remembered.

Leilani let out a little sigh of relief as the stallion came over. This little piece of anxiety would finally be over with. "There's something important I have to tell you, Rhap." She managed to settle herself enough to hide the uneasiness as she spoke to him.
"It's...important." The last words held a little hesitation, that the brown mare couldn't manage to mask. She whinied a little and watched him, wondering what he might think once he knew or...what he might do.
Would he leave?

Rhapsody smiled brightly at his friend and nipped playfully at her mane. "It looks to me like someone has been into the sugar cubes a little but too much lately." he said jokingly and chuckled. "Now what's so important that I need to know, huh? You find a friend thats better than me or something?" he said again in a joking manner. The young stallion wasn't picking up on her serious tone.

Leilani laughed a little. Sugar cubes? Part of her wished that's all it was. "I'm pregnant, Rhapsody." She looked over at him, quite worried.

The pink stallions laugh ended abruptly as the words his friend said sunk in. "Your kidding right?" he said in a bit of denile. Whoever the father was, was going to have to answer to him if he ever ever hurt his friend. "Who is the father? I swear I will make him pay if he ever hurts you!" he said becoming slightly protective of Leilani and remembering what his father went through when his own mother had left. If this stallion left Leilani to raise foals on his own it would pay for it.

"I'm not kidding..." Leilani sighed and flicked her tail. "You are, Rhapsody." She whinied nervously. "They are your children." She pawed at the ground and glanced away. "You won't leave...will you?"

Rhapsody stopped his mad ranting and just stared at his friend. He couldn't believe what she had just said. He was the father? No, it couldn't possibly be him. "No, it can't be! I can't be the father..." he said rather hoping that maybe she was wrong. "Are you sure? How?"

"I just am...your the only one I've been near in weeks." Leilani glanced back at him, but her gaze quickly darted away again. Maybe he will leave.... She sighed.

The pink stallion still couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Are surely sure?" he asked as if she would change her answer. But he knew that it would be the same as what she had said before. How could this have happened? How could he have done something so horrible to a friend he was so close too? Was he just like his mother in that respect? Maybe Leilani would turn out to be like his mother and do the same thing to him as his mother did to his father.

Rhapsody's expression of panic softened when he heard the nervousness and maybe even a hint of fear in her voice. Here he was wondering if she would leave and she was the one asking him not to leave. "You don't hate me for...doing this to you?" he asked curiously. Surely she had to have some ill will towards him now.
