[SOLO] Cuffs & Chains

The night was sinking fast, two weeks had passed since the inevitable beating of a lifetime and Venice was still shaking with pain like it had happened yesterday. She wasn’t a wimp by any means; she could take punches with the best of them. But the complete battering she received from the two Negaverse agents was immense. Even so her new power upgrade was just begging to be used and she was on edge just thinking about it. But with a still very much busted leg and bruises that made her look like a yellow alien she wasn’t going anywhere soon. If anything she would fail big time, even put more people in danger by attempting to take on an agent or Youma. Her henshin pen was going to have to stay put for now. Yet that didn’t stop the INCREDIBLE BOREDOM she was experiencing while being stuck at home.
No roller derby, no fighting, no alcohol from the medication she was taking and on the sick from work since she couldn’t do a thing! She was trapped within these four walls! She made herself feel even more hard done by with Bea not even there to comfort her. The poor girl had to work double shifts to cover the rent while Venice sat banged up watching reruns of the most awful shows TV had to offer. She could now quote all of Chandlers lines from Friends…backwards.
She was slowly going insane.
Grabbing her one crutch she moved around the flat slowly but surely, every movement was painful but necessary. If she was ever going to get back up on her feet she needed to move everyday and it was getting easier. Until a stitch popped open and she was reduced to a blubbing mess that is. Again it wasn’t the discomfort it was the skull crushing boredom! And a broken stitch meant another few days of not moving. Venice was never patient, NEVER. She didn’t do quite or tranquil, she did loud and fast. It was just her. She couldn’t even sit though a film without getting up and doing a thousand other things because she was so impatient. It was the way she got banned from most cinemas back home.
Roller derby was out of the question but if she had her quad bikes she could go off riding, it was hardly manual labour sitting on a seat going though town but of course she had the wonderful idea of moving several thousand miles away from home and leaving them behind and then getting the fantastic idea of getting a low paying job so she could never afford one over here! Smart move Venice, smart move.
Peering out of her window she studied the bare wall opposite her apartment. It had some scuff marks, a few tags from kids who didn’t know what they where doing but mainly it was there for the taking. There for any would be graffiti artists to lay into it and make it beautiful. Or ugly depending on which city council was looking at it. Destiny City had some decent walls but hardly enough for Venice’s tastes. She hadn’t tagged in ages, up to a year or more since turning up in the city but now the familiar pang of excitement hit her stomach. Her right hand was busted but there was nothing stopping her left from moving about, and Venice had learnt long ago not to depend on just one arm for everything (after one to many breaks a girl had to learn how to be ambidextrous!)
Grabbing her graffiti bag (made up of spray cans and a few stencils) she made her way ungraciously out of the building. This was a bad idea that was a very, very bad. But sadly it didn’t stop her trying to waddle unlady like down the stairs and across the street. Her leg wasn’t broken but ripped tendons and a rather nnice scar was her reward from the fight and had made things difficult. Her arm had come off worse needing metal plates fitting after being found. She had been considered a helpless victim of a terrorist attack when discovered, her unconscious mind having the common sense to power down before being seen. It had been a hazy few days of small operations and hospital food but as soon as she could see straight she had discharged herself from the hospital. They were just robbing bastarads after all! Telling her she needed another few days in hospital. Not bloody likely!
Reaching the far side of the street she shuffled down the alley behind the fast food restaurant, a mixture of grease and stale smoke reaching her as she found a good hiding spot. The finished piece would be big and visible to see from the streets but she needed coverage for as long as possible. After all graffiti was illegal in this city. Gradually Venice started the outline of a soon to be masterpiece, roses, skulls, old school art that reminded her of home. It wasn’t going to move anyone to tears or anything but it was better than looking at a blank wall day in and day from her apartment block. Pushing herself to fight past the pain of her injuries she fought on. Hopped about, leaning against walls when needed and taking frequent f** breaks before continuing. After 60 solid minutes she had the main out line and at least a dozen roses coloured. It was taking far longer than anticipated but she didn’t complain, it was a labour of love. Or it would have been if the cops hadn’t shown up.
The blue and red lights hit her first before the sound of footsteps, two officers that had seen the creeping tentacle of an squid emerging from a skull as they ate food in their car. They had allowed her to continue this far because hey, they had just spent money too. But now Venice’s art work was getting bigger and although impressive was against the law. It was time to put a stop to it.
“Mam’ put the spray cans down and step away from the wall.”
Freezing Venice felt her ham string pull back in surprise and instantly cramped up. Her injured leg fitting in pain she fell to the floor shrieking. Her little cry mingling with the slight laughter of the cops before her. “Aggggghhhh ******** ******** style="color: green">“Haahaa *cough*-ahem, mam are you ok? Do you need assistance back there?” The cop shone a flash light as they caught her sitting knee deep in what looked like toxic waste but was probably the fat from the fryers having solidified. It wasn’t a pretty sight.
“Mam do you need assistance? We have cause to believe you have vandalised city property.” If looks could kill the cops would be dead meat by now, Venice was not a happy bunny. All she wanted was five minutes of doing something she loved to de-stress and now she was being questioned. And if cops here were anything like the ones in England there was either a warning or handcuffs involved.
“What does it look like I need! Of course I need help!” She wasn’t helping matters. Scrambling to pick herself up one cop went to her aid, steadying her crutch until she was finally upright, a seriously disgusted expression on himself as he smelt the surroundings.
“Uhh how can you stand to graffiti here? Its stinks!”Rolling her eyes she pushed herself away from officer and started to collect her items. There was enough evidence here to blame this all on her so there was no point in hiding it. She made an added display of throwing them into her bag before hitching it over her shoulder with some effort.
“Listen its been lovely chatting to you but its late, I need to get my beauty sleep, so if you don’t mind…”It looked like the cops were about to burst out laughing again as she tried to hobbled past them, both of them blocking her way. God how she wanted to show them the derby girl in her.
“Listen Mam, you’ve purposely damaged city property. Now I don’t know what they do where you come from but here that’s an arrestable offence. You understand me?” His partner agreed with silent nods as he pulled a pair of cuffs from his belt. Normally Venice would be apologetic, maybe throw in a few jokes and try to win them over with kindness and maybe some side boob but right now she wasn’t in the mood.
“I don’t think you understand me copper, I happen to be injured . My arm is broken and in plaster, I would love to see you try and cuff me like this. Or are you willing to go as far as battery to get me into them? Since that seems to be a huge factor lets just say we forget about this and you guys move out of my way!”Shock and then bemused surprised registered across their faces as once again Venice tried to move past them, this time with more force than she could actually muster. The discomfort made her curse in frustration. It wasn’t happening, compared to her they may as well been made out of stone.
“Stevens…arrest this woman.” – “WHAT! THAT IS RIDICULOUS!”Twisting Venice tried to hop away for his hands that shot out, fists white with tension as she slid across the bricks until the cop rested a hand on her shoulder. Getting a little too close his words of
“Don’t make this harder on yourself love, you obviously need help.” angered her further. There was only one left to do.
“Now you’ve done it! There is nothing more that I hate than a ******** PIG!” (and it was true, they made her life hell in England but all from her own undoing. But Venice had failed to see that of course.)
“Say goodnight you ASSHOLES! In the name of Ate! Planet Make…up.…po….wha….s**t!” Reaching down to reach her henshin pen, its usual place tucked into her belt, she was left grabbing at air.
“Nooo!” Her mind raced back to the very distinct memory of her messing with it while high on prescription medicine and dropping it down the side of her bed. She had never opted for hiding things in the space vortex that was gifted to every senshi and even if she thought of that right at this moment she wouldn’t remember how to use it. She was screwed.
The worried shock and then bemused surprise filtered across the cops faces as they watch her standing still with a hand raised upwards as if calling to the stars. Both men erupted in laughter once it sunk in that the girl was just very, very crazy.
“Heh, hey Stevens mind out for her lipstick attack, I’ve heard its deadly!
“Oh yeah, you should have seen the last time someone tried to foundation bomb me, went everywhere!”The two were pleased with the extent of their jokes, almost Venice worthy if she wasn’t trying to sneak away very carefully. No luck though. As soon as she put her foot down she would wince, her little squeaks alerting the two jokers to her presences once again.
“I don’t think so Mam, damage of property, indecent language, resisting arrest. There isn’t anywhere you are going that isn’t accompanied by me and my partner here.” Nodding the older man signalled to the officer to continue with handcuffing her, using one end of the chain to attach to his own hand and then to Venice’s uninjured one. A sly smile coving his face as he nudged her towards the car.
“You see we have ways and means too Mam, I would suggest you continue to come with us quietly and this night will end a lot faster."Of course Venice would have none of it, as soon as the familiar feel of metal landed on her wrist she started to yell. Not in self defence or anger, but in sheer annoying tones. If she had to go down she was going to make this worse for everyone involved! She hadn’t been arrested in four years and she hadn’t been here that amount and already she was going back to the slammer! She wasn’t going down without a fight!
“NAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!! YOU EFFIN NAZI’S LEMME GO! LEMME GO! I HAVE RIGHTS, I HAVE RIIIIGGGGGHHHTTTS!! NAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”As the coppers struggled to pull Venice from the alleyway the streets were starting to fill with night birds (both human and animal) and each seemed to watch the girls antics in different ways. Some pitied her, other cheered. Some just didn’t care. But they all agreed with one thing. She had been bad. And it was easy to stay this wasn’t even the tip of the polluted iceberg.
