Morning had come and gone with out a whisper of the usual autumn winds, chilly still it was crystal clear blue sky's, a true illusion to the the temperatures outside. It was a perfect day for working up a sweat.

Pushing her leg forward with a sigh Venice executed the perfect hamstring stretch before letting it work into her calf. She didn't need to be stretching right now. She had already stretched up something fierce before...and then a second time and now, well now it was just getting silly. But today was a special day, today was important. Today she had new skates.

Glorious new skates.

They were orgasmic. Jet black with green rims and wheels, toxic coloured stoppers that literally glowed in the dark. Ohhh her stomach flipped every time she thought of them. They were the most expensive thing she had bought since starting her new job. She felt like she deserved a treat, a treat that would lead her to beat up some women. Being a roller derby girl was great. All the pleasure of groping a woman with out the dinning and all the joys of elbowing said woman in her chest with out all the kinky foreplay. Venice lived for roller derby. It was her thing. To define her was not to look at her art or her interest in mechanics. It was her skating. And not just any old skating, competitive skating that left bruises. Big ones. Oh baby she loved this sport.

And that's why right now she was in her home away from home. The local Skating rink allowed the Destiny City Devils every Tuesday Afternoon and Thursday Night to set up a flat-pack ring and transform the usually disco lit 80's throwback building into something much more. A stadium for ellite strong women who were not afraid to kick the s**t out of each other for the purpose of winning. And Venice was doing just that, Tuesday afternoon was reserved for practice, designating new strategies and hopefully finding fresh meat. Venice was on the prowl....in new skates.

In Glorious new skates.

Kess may not have had much meat on her, but the lanky blonde was certainly fresh. Or, at least, the cheeky, wide grin she shot Venice was, as she leaned over the tall edge of the rink, raising her brows.

"Are those new?" Dark eyes flicked over the younger girl's body to her feet, where one badass pair of skates could be found. "They're sick." It didn't take much skill to deduce that they were a new purchase, from the lack of stickers, decoration, and scrapes on the pair.

Kess, of course, had her own pairs of skates. Her blades were as oldschool as they type used in derby, and instead were for the street. They looked more like sneakers than anything else, made for transporation and tricks, rather than the slick plastic of speed skaters or the thick-wheeled skates of a rink-user.

Still, she wasn't here to skate, not really, she used hers for recreation, and as her primary way of getting around town. No, Kess was here as a fan, if the t-shirt on her athletic frame gave any indications.

"I knew I'd seen you somewhere, before that party."

Oh she did love it when someone noticed the things she loved and shot a grin back at the tall blonde, her eyes quickly giving her a once over while trying her best not to linger too long in certain places. Venice was never one for subtlety.

"Ohh these little old things? How ever could you tell? I mean yes I have been licking them all over in girlish glee all morning but everyone does that with new skates dont they! Yeah, arent they gorgeous -" A deep loving sigh escaped her lips as she stared down at them, it was like she had forgotten there was even someone standing there talking to her as her eyes glazed over as she was lost in a world when new skates could retaliate their love back The mention of the party stung a subconscious nerve and she clocked the girl instantly. How could she forget!!

"...Kess, right? I remember you! You were dressed as a zombie from Holland or something weird like that! I can't even remember what happened that night, I remember cops though. Its so nice when they get to know you by your first name dont you think?" She was joking but it was a well know secret the party had been broken up in the early hours for drunken misbehaviour and vandalism, it had just been a surprised for the cops that it was actually a party since Venice had been given a warning on her own for doing just that a week previously, she was due in court next month.

"You were with you girlfriend weren't you? Cute thing that was like a giant on stilts! Girl your tall but she, Jesus, she's huuugeee!"
She motioned her hands to display Tate's hight even if it was over accentuated. Everyone was tall to Venice coming in at 5ft3" and even with the help of some very high heels she usually only came up to their chest. It wasn't a bad thing, she preferred to this hight difference, it meant she got away with it when looking at said chests.

"You here for try-outs or fun blondie?"

"Ain't it, though?" The quick smile they shared hinted that both had their fair share of experience, and familiarity, with the law enforcement of Destiny City. "You're Venice. The hostess with the mostest." Mostest curves, that is.

"Hm?" Kess took a moment to rewind back to the party, before Venice helpfully described her so-called girlfriend, and laughed, "Oh, Tate? She's just a friend." Her grin widened, "She is cute, though." Super cute. Still, Kess was super single, and despite Tate's drunk kiss that night, little more had happened between them. A bummer, really, but the blonde wasn't the type to wallow in loneliness.

"Good thing neither of us wear heels, huh?" Leaning further over the railing, she glanced around, as if to see how many other 'new' folk were around. Not many. No wonder she was being recruited.

"I'm just here to watch you ladies," Her freckled nose wrinkled, "I don't own any rink skates." Reaching down, she held up her beat up, well-loved street skates.

Tapping the toe stopper from each foot on the ground Venice tested the fit of the skate, the worst thing a gal could do was to enter the ring unprepared. She had seen girls cause more damage to themselves with loose fitting skates. Actually Venice had seen some terrible things out in the ring but a girl breaking an ankle due to her own stupidity was just a waste. There would be none of that for her.

"Just a friend? Ha, if that's how you treat your friends I wanna know how you treat your "significant others"! Lucky bitches...so your saying she's available then?" She didn't mean it of course, Tate was very, very cute but not her type which is strange because anything moving was Venice's type, still the girl did have a flavour she preferred above most and it was either long haired guys with tattoos and piercings, or the same with women....yeah she had obviously thought long and hard about her 'type'. But who said she ever had to follow such guidelines?

Observing the tattered old things Kess fondly showed off Venice couldn't help but smile. They looked well used, tired and due for replacement but the fact that Kess had kept them was sweet. Venice knew what it was like to have a dependable pair of skates, ones that fitted so well they felt like silk even if they were falling apart. The type that looked ready to crack and splinter but would still hold up under a torrent of abuse. If it wasn't for her old skates being lost in transit (she was so suing the bastards) she never would have considered buying a new pair. Sure she loved the new ones, loved them a fat kid loves pie but there would never replace her first pain. Well not until they had connected with a few shins anyhow!

"Oh fantastic! We need to get this sport known to the public. Paying public that is! I have kids to feed and by kids i mean myself and by feed I mean cigarettes and booze. Its a worthy charity so feel free to help out and give me all your monies!"

It was clear to see this girl found herself highly amusing as she laughed at her punchline, well at least someone was laughing even if it had to be her! But it was easy to see she was at total ease with the girl, well this was her domain after all and Venice made certain that everyone was welcome to her true home.

"Well I was about to do some laps, we're recruiting later if you want to stay around for that. You seem to have been around the block a few times, maybe you can sense some young talent where I can't!"

"You're welcome to try your luck with her," Kesslan's wry tone implied that Venice would get relatively no where. Tate was adorable, and an awkward project that the blonde had been working on for months, but she was relatively unapproachable. She didn't recognize most flirting, and when she did, she got embarrassed and avoided whomever had hit on there. Venice didn't seem like the type of girl to waste her time with something like that.

"I'll send any fresh blood I see your way." Pausing, the tall blonde tilted her head slightly. "Say, are y'all looking for any other types of volunteers?" Most everything at the rink was volunteer work. Referees, beer slingers, security... Venice was on the money when she said they were in dire need of 'paying' customers.

Roller derby was a sport of love, not profit.

Grinning, the freckled young woman raised her brows. "I wouldn't mind feeding you, at all."

If Venice was the type to take up a challenge, and she was, she would have happily tried her luck with Tate, just to see what would happen (and Venice had lost more dates that way). But the girl in front of her was by far more interesting and sexy, she had the whole punk thing going on. Venice could appreciate that for all its finery and this girl rocked it. Rolling her eyes she expressed her mild disappointment in the fact there was another girl who wouldn't just accept the dark side! It was horrible Chaos had destroyed that saying for her, she needed a new one.

"Volunteer!?" The girl looked like she about to vomit rainbows with the word! "Of course we are! s**t, I mean yes! Woman, you can be the devil reincarnate if you would be willing to help us out! Tickets, selling booze, helping us shower, you know, normal volunteer jobs!" Joking of course but then again Venice never let an opportunity to make some uncomfortable go by for a laugh. Except she knew Kess wouldn't bat an eyelid at it, but Venice certainly did to her comment...or was that more fluttering her eyelashes?

"Oh really? Well I do have very particular tastes, you'll have to show me what's on your menu ~ "
Venice almost snorted with laughter, she couldnt help it! Everything must be made into a lewed joke, everything. If the girl ignored her then she lost nothing, if she laughed then she would mount her she was onto a winner! Even in her thoughts she couldn't stop it!

"Good to know you'd find me appealing if I was the antichrist." The wolfish grin that flashed across Kess's freckled face said that she just might be the devil, and the lanky blonde dug a hand into the back pocket of her loose jeans to pull out an phone.

"How about you give me your number, and I'll see what I can do about putting together a sampler for you." Her smile widened, if that was even possible. "Find out where, exactly, your tastes run. I've got a bit of everything going on in this kitchen." Apparently, Kess could give as good as she got.

"On a less... recreational note." She laughed, "Back home," she gestured towards the West, as if to indicated Northern California, "I helped out the league a lot, so I've done some refereeing, beer jockeying, a bit of security work, and you know, shown more than a few girls on the team a good time..." Kess would not be adverse to soaping Venice up in the shower, that was for sure. "I'd be happy to lend the DC Devils a hand."

And Venice was only too happy to match the grin right back, this was going swimmingly even if she did say so herself. She needed someone to hit on, a buffer if you will. Her team-mates were getting annoyed with her impromptu team hugs while all getting changed. Kess would more than fit the bill. Sliding over to a rucksack she pulled her own phone, finding her number with ease (She wasn't going to remember such a thing! Venice was 85% vodka, she needed the rest to work out team strategies!)

"Haha, well I can't wait to dine at the chefs table then, maybe I can get a sneaky taste sometime soon?....pffff-hahaha ok, ok for the good of your sanity I will stop, I am so close to doing a seafood joke its going to kill me!"

Reading out her number she made sure Kess got it all down before flipping it away. Her legs were itching to get on the rink even if she was having fun. The call of the derby waiting for no man...or woman.

"Refereeing as well? Wow you are something special gorgeous, remind me to thank you personally! But anything, a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g, would be amazing! If you have friends who are into manual labour for alcohol and occasion treats too, bring them down! Our first official match is only a month away, we haven't had a big event in ages, i want it to be special and the more help we get the better."

She was tempted to squeeze Kess to death with a bear hug but she resisted for now. The last thing the girl needed was broken ribs or Venice face forced into her chest.

"I don't know where you came from but remind me to thank who ever is running the joint for sending you to me!" Venice was a very strong believer in nothing, but she couldn't deny, miracles did happen. And it came in the form of a lanky blonde.

"All gravy, baby." The blonde laughed, running a hand through tousled, short hair as she pushed away from the railing. Was she going to be spending more time down here? Hell yeah. Her dark eyes shifted from Venice, to the rink, and back, and she grinned.

"Have fun out there. I'll just be over here, watching and trying not to fall in love every time you elbow some poor girl in the throat."

Ah, pure romance, for sure. Kess sent Venice that two figured salute goodbye, a sort of parting signature for the freckled girl, and made sure to save the new contact in her phone before heading over to a group of seats with a prime view of the track.

Venice let out a laugh that rang across the room, it was like someone had held a microphone to her lips and ordered her to scream it out. But that was just Venice, she didn't do things by half's and if it was worth doing it was worth doing with added gusto.

"HA! I promise to get your some sovereign teeth as a gift. We're not allowed to keep them but for you, I think I'll make an exception!"

She gave her own wave back as she stood watching the girl walk towards the stands, head slightly titled to one side as she took in all of the view. "Oh, I do believe I am getting the vapours..." It was that sort of thing that got Venice out of bed in the morning and all she knew was that she was going to love watching Kess walk away. Cursing herself for not being quick enough with her phone camera she reached for her helmet and twirled her curls onto her head before buckling in. She felt inspired. Like electric volts running though the floor at the thought of Kess watching.

Wow.

This was getting silly.Venice wasn't the type to be swept of her feet, it was meant to be the other way round! Shaking her head she caught the eye of the other girls waiting for her to join them in training and suddenly she felt relaxed again. She may not be sweeping Kess of her feet any time soon but she was about to do it a whole load of other girls. And deep down this made Venice extremely happy.

"Com'on ladies, lets have some fun..."
