『 it's just another war 』
(word count: ???)

Quote:

It had been a few months since Senri was first awakened as a senshi. He had been awakened by a cat with a star on its forehead. “What are you supposed to be?” He had asked, staring at the cat in disinterest. ”It’s not a matter of what I’m supposed to be. It’s what you are.“

“Senri Cross?“ Senri had offered although that have been mocking the cat. “You were destined to be a senshi.” She had told him with the utmost faith as it was a matter of grave importance. Senri hadn’t understood at the time. She had handed him a hen shin pen. “A pen? I don’t suppose you could write with that?“ But it was no time for joking before a youma had jumped through the window, sending a loud careening CRASH! Now that he could look back upon it, being awakened was merely a joke; another warrior that had been forced to join the war. An ancient war that was being waged between the negaverse and senshi. And in the midst of it all, their princess called to them. Was that their place in life? And their purpose? Had it all been laid out for the senshi from birth?

Senri refused to believe that. He had never been one to believe in fate, or destiny. Nothing could be pre-ordained for them.

The first time that he had been awakened as a senshi, a dead body laid at his feet. The youma had burst through the window, taking the nearest man it could find and dragging him out into the alleyway. By the time Senri had come, the youma had already killed the man. Or well, killed wasn’t the correct term. It had stolen the man’s “starseed” from what the cat explained. All right, that helped, Senri thought with a touch of annoyance. It was a male, early twenties, blond hair with a somewhat average stature, from what Senri could see, collecting the information as if it was second nature. The youma was a particularly vicious youma whohad ripped his starseed from his chest. His hole in his chest was obvious as Senri knelt down to examine the damage.

He had already defeated the youma. But he hadn’t saved the man because it had been far too late. By the time Senri had come upon the scene, the star seed was gone. And the damage to his body .. It would have been too late, regardless of if Senri had returned the star seed or not.

The sound of a purse dropping filled the silent alleyway. “T-That isn’t..” Senri stood up, revealing the dead body in the alleyway. “H-He was..supposed to..” She continually paused, her brain trying to absorb the information. Senri supposed that the woman was the dead man’s lover? Girlfriend? Either way, it didn’t matter to him.

She wanted him to pretend, pretend that he was joking. Perhaps he was sleeping? But even so, that sleep would be one that he never awoke from. Eternal slumber. Her hands reached for his body. She didn’t have to know the existence of star seeds, senshi, negaverser, or youma. The human body instinctively knew death. She cradled his lifeless corpse in her arms while Senri remained silent.

Emotions were welling up inside of her. Senri could see the flood she was trying to hold back in her trembling form. But eventually, the sadness in her eyes turned towards anger and frustration. She turned towards him with an accusing glance, tears threatening to spill in her eyes. “Why didn’t you save him?!”

She let go of his body, clutching onto the collar of his sailor fuku. “You’re a senshi, aren’t you? You have power! Why - why didn’t you protect him?!”

How ironic. Most people believed that senshi were terrorists, or kids running around in magical suits who was involving themselves too dangerously into things they shouldn’t meddle in. But when they were forced to face the circumstances, they laid the blame on the very same people whom they distrusted.

Maybe some people still held the impression, the original impression, that senshi were heroes. That they were there to protect the citizens of Destiny City from all the strange occurrences.

Whichever one it was, Senri didn’t care. “Is blaming me what you really want to do?”

“How can you act so heartless? Tell me, aren’t you supposed to be some sort of hero?!”

“Don’t impose your self-ideas of a hero upon me.” Senri said, his blue eyes couldn’t summon any feeling. Not regret, sadness, nor despair. The emptiness inside of him was overwhelming. The dead body in front of him was not a person he knew. He was insignificant to him. He had no importance, or impact on Senri’s life. Not in the past, nor would he in the future. Because his future was permanently gone.

“I’m not a hero.” And Senri couldn’t ever be one. To put it plainly, he didn’t care about this war. The negaverse, the youma, and the citizens themselves. He was a senshi that wouldn’t fulfill his duties as a senshi.

“I am leaving.” And he left her with that corpse. Several moments later, an emergency ambulanced appeared at the scene, alerted by a passerby, and their actions hurried as they wrapped up the body and placed it in their vehicle.

『 just another day in the world we live in 』
(word count: ???)

Quote:
It was any other ordinary day, on which nobody expected what would come. Senri stepped out from the shower, a towel draped around his shoulders to catch the stray droplets from his wet hair. ’Feels good.. Senri thought to himself absently. He was hardly dressed in anything more then jeans that hung on his waist, and the towel around his shoulder.

He walked into the master bedroom, sitting on the bed. The bed leaned beneath his weight, his bed partner stirring by the movement. “Mm.” The sound came from a woman sleeping on the large mattress, a blanket covering her frame. But her bare legs peeked out from beneath the folds, while her hair fell in waves that framed her face.

“Is there something wrong?” She murmured, her newly awoken gaze upon Senri’s face. But she still laid on the bed, the white blanket sliding down to reveal the curve of her shoulders. “Nothing at all.” Senri smoothly said, dipping his head down to press a practiced kiss upon her lips.

“Why don’t we continue..?” Senri’s large frame was soon looming over his bed partner, although he was careful not to crush her by focusing his weight on his elbows and hands. His dark blue hair fell in silky strands around them, not having been tied yet because he had just taken a bath. “All right then.” She didn’t refuse him..

Riiiiing! Riiiiiing!

Senri’s gaze flickered towards the two cell phones on the nightstand. There was a cell phone each for personal and business matters. Calls forwarded to his business phone normally regarded manners concerning his work, or things that could be put aside for later. However, few people had his personal number meaning that it was important.

Senri quickly reached over, and flipped the phone open with a “I hope you have a good reason?” in an impatient voice.

“..Senri?” Mercredi’s voice spoke, causing Senri to be mildly surprised. “Mer?” Mer referred to his nickname for a young girl named Mercredi. She was only several years younger then him, yet Senri had assumed a vaguely defined older brother role towards her. She had gone through a difficult time. Her father, a police officer who was going through his own issues, didn’t know how to handle his daughter. And Senri who had merely come over a couple times hadn’t been apart of it. Yet, Mercredi, no more then a child at the time had always peeked around the corner at the older male. Senri had found her once, late at night, in the playground. “Are you sure you should be there?” He asked her, to which she had burst into tears! “Wait? What?” Senri had asked in bemusement. And in a reluctant mood, he had lifted Mercredi and hugged her. She had stopped sobbing, dying down into whimpers, and buried her head in Senri’s shirt. Their relationship had been established from then.

Eventually, her circumstances had improved. Her father remarried to a great woman, providing Mercredi with a wonderful mother. She had gone back to school, and made friends. And Senri was no longer needed, although he met with her from time to time.

But now was a different story. He quickly ceased in his previous actions, much to his bed partner’s disagreement. He sat down on the bad, his long form bent over in worry. “What is wrong?” Mercredi never called him unless something had happened.

“S..Senri..” She hiccupped, “Calm down. You know that I can’t understand you when you’re crying. Tell me what happened.”

“Mother and Father have collapsed. Downtown.. When they were shopping.” Mercredi managed to speak between sobs. “Tell me where you are. I’ll meet you there.” She relayed her location over the computer, Senri nodding in response. “I understand.” He knew that area.

Senri quickly picked up his shirt and fastened his pants. “Leaving?”

“Yeah.” He pulled his shirt over his head, and quickly picked up his belongings; his cell phones, his camera, and his wallet.

“You’re worried.” She observed, reclining on the bed. “Will you come back?” Her name was Rin. She was a well-endowed woman, and the same age as Senri, 17. She was attractive, beautiful, with her long flowing hair and slender figure. She and Senri were involved in a relationship, what you could call ‘Friends with Benefits’ where neither of them desired attachment. They were only there to fulfill each other’s sexual needs.

“Mm. Perhaps, when everything settles back down.” Settle settled a kiss on her cheek. There was nothing sincere about it. It was merely a show, and she knew that. “I’ll be waiting for you until the next time.”

And Senri left, putting on his coat in the process. He would have to take a taxi there - motioning for one as soon as he stepped out of the lobby of the apartment. However, a taxi didn’t pull up. Instead, a police car stopped in front of the sidewalk. The occupant rolled down his window, revealing a familiar face. “You’re..” Senri tilted his head, recognizing him as Mercredi’s father’s friend. His name was Richard. He was a good friendn of Ci‘s family, and practically an uncle who had doted on both Senri and Mercredi. “I heard about..” He didn’t finish the sentence, ruffling his hair in anxiety. “And I suppose you're headed towards her too? You’re going to visit Mercredi, right?”

“Yes.” Senri nodded his head.

“Come on. I’ll give you a ride.” His thumb jerked to the back seat, indicating where Senri should sit. Senri stepped into the car, the police car speeding off.

They had barely begun driving, when the police radio began to overflow with messages and alerts. Over the radio, he heard dispatches of;

“We got another one down.”

“And one at Trinity Station.”

“Three down at ..”

“..nyone hear me? This is an emergency call!”

“All units still mobile, please check in.”

Their voices were urgent, hurried, and it appeared that even as Senri and Richard was driving past, there seemed to be a flurry of commotion. The closer they drove towards the scene, the more people Senri could see had fallen to the ground with deathly paleness and stiffness.

“… We have a problem on our hands, don’t we?” Richard sighed, taking a sharp turn.

“Problem would be putting it lightly.” Senri remarked, already on his phone, navigating it quickly to see the latest headlines. The news spreading like wildfire, and the same occurrences were happening across the city. "On 1800 Main Street.. We have had reports of people who have suddenly become unconscious with no rhyme or reason," Senri flipped to another channel, "..another sight as people try to revive their loved ones." He turned it off. It would be the same repetition over and over.

And later, it would be termed as The Destiny City Epidemic.

『 warning 』
(word count: ???)

Quote:

Some guy had been following Senri for days now. It was lucky that Senri hadn’t gone home yet, crashing in the apartments offered to the people employed by his agency after 3 jobs in a straight row this week. He had rarely left the apartments, having his manager order food for him because he was too lazy to go out. And very little personal information was offered on Senri’s public profile. So aside from his first and last name, it wasn’t easy to find his address or phone number. It was his agency that kept a tight rein on that.

He had noticed him each time after finishing work or going out with his friends. He might have been trying to be discreet and subtle about it, but Senri, with his perceptive nature, didn’t miss much. Especially not a reoccurring feature as distinct as his. When you put aside his face, and his coat, his sunglasses and a camera was already unusual. Let alone constantly seeing him in every place Senri traveled to.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” One of his friends asked, turning around to see what was holding the young model up. “Nothing.” Senri looked back once more at the building where the strange man had been peeking out of. He had gone back into his corner.

That night, Senri didn’t go home. Instead, he went to visit Mercredi’s house. He stopped by a diner place first to pick up some take-out dishes and then drove over to her apartment building. Her apartment had decent security, as she lived in a expensive apartment normally reserved for the higher and elite circles. After checking in with the front desk as an expected visitor, Senri took the elevator to the fifth floor. “Surprise.” Senri said to the young lady as soon as she opened her door, barely clad in a bathrobe while Senri held up the bag of food. “You brought dinner too? Thanks.” As a token of her thank you, she leaned up to kiss Senri, her arms curving around his neck.

“Eating first.” Senri said easily after the kiss. He had brought Chinese food that night, a healthy spread of vegetables and meat. “Of course.” She agreed, walking into her kitchen to fetch some plates and utensils.

At 1 a.m, after their dinner and their sexual intercourse, Mercredi was lying asleep in her bed. Senri was there as well, but he was still awake. He was sitting against the head of the bed, his shirt lazily worn, nearly slipping over his broad shoulders. An ash tray lied next to the bed on the stand, Senri tipping the ashes into the tray. He smoked occasionally allowing him a reprieve from his daily life. The curtains were drawn to let in as little light as possible since the morning rays of the sun was always annoying in the morning. Both Senri and Mercredi weren't very good at waking up in the morning. He stood up, drawing the curtain aside for a little bit to allow him to see. His eyes glanced downwards, past the balcony, where the suspicious man still stood watching the apartment building.

“How troublesome are you planning to be?” Senri was speaking to nobody in particular, setting down his cigarette. The cigarette butt was still burning by the time the door was closed.

The stalker was looking at the various windows, trying to guess which one his target would be in. “Having fun?” A familiar voice spoke from behind the stalker. The stalker turned around in surprise, his gaze lighting upon the young male. Senri had barely given a thought to dress, his jeans were fastened around his waist while the white dress shirt was buttoned up until the third button. The deep v-neck of his shirt hinted at his well-exercised body.

“How did you...?!” The stalker took a step back, not having seen Senri’s exit from the apartment building.

“Never mind that.” Senri reached for his camera, unclipping it from his neck strap - and tossed the expensive equipment. The audible crack could be heard as it was tossed in the middle of the street. Now that he was up close, he recognized this guy. He had bothered several models from the same agency as Senri. Not that he cared about those models, but it merely meant that this particular one had a track record. “You’ve been pretty annoying these past few days.. I’d actually like to drop your dead carcass into the river.”

"Wait! Aren't you supposed to be nice?" The stalker demanded, since that was the image Senri often projected with his public profile. Senri nearly laughed at that misconception. What a poor, misguided soul. Stalkers could be pretty tricky. If you were a girl. They had a great deal more to hide, and were more vulnerable. You often heard stories about their victims calling the police, talking to their counselors, moving schools, or taking a break from their jobs to avoid the problem. But Senri was a male who could easily take care of himself, and was merciless when it come to such matters. The police and counselors were useless to him. If Senri couldn’t handle this himself, he would consider that to be useless.

Senri leaned in to the shorter man, being kind enough to afford him the same eye level. “Instead, let me teach you a bit about manners.” There was a dark smile upon his face that didn’t bode well. In fact, it was a downright evil smile. It would give anyone reason for second thought, obvious to both of them that Senri would enjoy this. A great deal. He had enough to deal with on his plate with the current senshi issues that he didn't want, constant youma, work, and now it was some foolish man who thought that stalking Senri would be a great idea. it was already tipping his plate into the opposite direction. There was only so much that Senri could handle after all. “I really haven’t had much to vent my frustration onto. I imagine that you'll do well."
