It was in the hours after school, the streets were bustling of school kids and older teenagers. The weather was sunny, but not hot with it's breeze coming by. People stood on the streets, yelling and encouraging others to come into their store. Overall, it was a perfect day to hang out with friends.
Meanwhile, Senri was glancing at a store with a bit of interest. It had been a long time since Senri had updated his iPod and iTunes library. On his way home, he had passed a popular new music store that had just recently opened. The new popular ratings for the store had been filled with satisfied customers, and spoke of a large variety in music. With nothing better to do, he stepped into the music store. Lines of cd's as well as music accessories and earphones lined the walls. There was even an electronic section for the new models of mp3s, speakers, sound, and audio systems. Sample booths had been set up everywhere, some people lingering by them, listening to the new music.
Overall, Senri liked the store. It certainly lived up to its reputation.
"Hm." Senri stopped by one of the sample booths next to the j-pop section. The j-pop section was located next to the heavy metal music section, so it was quite a strange mix to see there. You could spot a person dressed in punk clothing next to an immaculately dressed Japanese school girl. But it made for an interesting mix, Senri observed while putting on the large headphones. Music burst from the earphones, Senri navigating the machines and turning down the volume. He seemed to preoccupied, finding something he had liked.

Hands tucked into the pockets of her black jeans, Fred slowed to look in the spacious windows of the new music store. This hadn't been here a few months ago, she mused, looking over the large variety of band posters and album covers on display. Spotting a few familiar ones, she approved that they carried Metallica and Motorhead, even if they were mixed in with the likes of Lady Gaga, and Eminem. Her lip twitched in a sneer at the latter. Rap. How could anyone listen to that junk?
Still, she should check to see if they had the Iron Maiden "Somewhere in Time" album on CD. Somehow Fred's dog, Patton, had managed to get a hold of her old one, and it was now buried somewhere in the garden at home. Taking a dubious step over the threshold, Fred noticed how clean the store was. Considering the crowd, it was quite a feat, but they had a small army of employees (one of whom Fred asked to point her to the Metal section) to pour over the store. Used to beaten down hole-in-the-wall music stores, Fred was a tad disquieted. Slightly more so when she walked past some Asian girls in school uniforms to get to the good stuff. Fred surreptitiously looked at the title of the section. J-Pop? What the hell was that?
Shrugging, she scanned the rows of Metal albums, noticing that they were sorted via sub-genres. Thrash Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, and there was Iron Maiden, under Classic Metal. Fred thumbed through the CDs, each with their characteristic skeleton/mummy thing. Lo and Behold, there was "Somewhere in Time" ! Grinning, Fred grabbed her prize, and took a few moments to study the cover with it's futuristic city scene, and skeleton/mummy thing mixed with cyborg parts. Looking around, she saw that the store provided sample booths, and wandered over, curious to see if there had been any new releases.
Sidling in beside a guy who was listening to that mysterious J-Pop stuff, Fred put on a pair of headphones, and poked at the machine.
Heaven. Fred was in Heaven. No! Make that Valhalla. A Valhalla consisting of a gajillion decibels of Iron Maiden's latest album drilling into her head through the state of the art headphones. It was like she was at a concert, standing right in front of the speakers! Completely taken away, Fred didn't even realize she'd started head-banging until a sharp crack on her forehead brought her back to her senses.
"Augh!" she yelled, rubbing at the spot furiously. What had she hit?

He was finding that he was liked the current soundtrack. He picked up the current disc, taking the time to read the titles on the back of the disc. Senri had reached down to change tracks - and sudden searing pain crossed his forehead. The disc dropped from his hand, and dropped to the floor with a little thud! "Owwch." Senri had been taken by surprise, holding his own forehead in response. Her sudden yell wasn't doing any good for the oncoming headache.. which resembled a vague resemblance to a hang over. He hadn't had one of those for a long, long time. His dark blue bangs fell over his face, obscuring his vision. His hand moved up to rake back his bangs. One eye winced, while his other eye tried to identify the other member of the head butt.
Once he got a glimpse of the young girl, there was a semblance of an amused smile despite the throbbing pain in his head. "I suppose I should be glad that it's a pretty girl, and not some old man."
"I hope you aren't hurt too much?" His gloved hand reached over to pat the young girl on her head. If she didn't feel too uncomfortable, Senri could check the damage from a second perspective.

Woah. Cute guy. Not just cute guy. Really cute guy. Fred was rather surprised from a number of things, but her head hurt too much to think about all of them, so she settled on bewilderment at why she was noticing the good looks of someone she'd headbutted, instead of, you know, showing concern about headbutting them. How hard had she hit her head? Rubbing the point of impact vigorously, she tried smiling at his remark. Not what you'd normally expect in such a situation.
"That's one way to meet new people." she replied wryly. "Sorry! I got a bit... carried away there."
Wait. Why was he patting her on the head? Fred raised an eyebrow at him. Really? I'm not that much younger than you. Probably just a year or two. Ah, who cares.
"I'll be okay. Not the first time I've hit something like that, and sadly not the first time I've managed to butt heads with someone." she replied, and waved at a hand in the general direction of his head. "How about you? That felt like it should leave a goose egg."

"I don't think the damage is as bad as that." Senri's fingers lightly touched the area, and winced. It was a bit tender but otherwise, it would leave no long-lasting effect. "I should be fine if I ice it down later." Relatively. Most likely. Senri didn't really care to think about such trivial issues.
He looked at Fredia, examining her more closely. On a more thorough examination, she was a pretty and cute girl. Senri was used to more sophisticated beauty, but it was refreshing to see something different. He smiled at her apology, proposing, "As an apology, why don't you take me out somewhere? Lunch? Dessert? My treat though." He pointed to himself in a good-natured manner. Obviously, he was taking advantage of her apology. But he was a gentleman enough to not let a girl pay.
Either option worked, but the latter option especially if she had already eaten. Or both. Senri certainly didn't mind, continuing with, "After we finish up with our music?" Despite their eventful meeting, they were both here for a purpose. Well, their original purpose. Senri's purpose being to find more songs for his iPod.
"What's your name? I'm afraid in all the commotion, I forgot to ask."

Fred's eyes widened a bit at his proposal, and widened further when he offered to pay. Mixed messages much? Spending time with a cute guy definitely wasn't what she would consider an apology! Especially if he was paying the bill. Or was it him spending time with her that was the apology? Or was she in all likelihood reading too much into this? Probably that.
"There's a deli a few blocks down, if you don't mind the walk? I'll buy lunch, you buy dessert." she said, decisively. Hopefully that would be an acceptable compromise for his chivalric tendencies. "My name is Freida. Friends call me Fred. What's yours?"

"That sounds like a deal." Senri agreed, looking out the display window of the store. "My name is Senri Cross, Fred." Senri really wasn't one for formalities, using her personal name despite their recent meeting. And that he was a bit unconventional. There was a knowing grin to accompany the introduction of their names, "You have an interesting name." Most girls had the usual names. Anna, Karen, Jennifer, and so on.
"Are you done choosing your music?" As he asked, Senri picked up the disc that had clattered earlier to the ground from their accident. It was the new album for the j-pop that he had been listening to. "We can go together if you'd like." Despite that being an offer, Senri waited for her.
"Did any of the neighborhood boys tease you for that name when you were younger?" He asked easily, walking next to her. He knew some males that would have. He had never been one of those kids, but he was pretty sure that there were the general idiots in every grade. Did that ever really change? Senri wouldn't have bet on it. The passage of time hadn't changed that much. That was a sad statement to life, the constant monotomy to people and their lives.
