Cleo almost felt guilty for being so non-present at the last house, but it's not as though they were obliged to give her anything."I believe our night is almost over,"She commented to the torti by her side, who had managed to start walking even slower. Perhaps he was tired, just as she was. Walking up to the last door of the evening, she knocked on it with two solid 'thumps'."Trick or treat?"She asked confidently. The person let out a small sigh, holding out a cracked ball. "I was going to give you this, but it's broken... the last one, too," They explained mournfully. Cleo held out her hand regardless, and took it gratefully."Thank-you, I shall treasure it,"She lied. The person smiled genuinely at her, before retreating inside their house. Lying to protect someone's feelings? Well, that was a new trick of Cleo's.'Perhaps Selkie would be interested in this.'She pondered, heading home with a full bag and new friend.
Connor had almost forgotten about the misfortunes earlier in the evening, her bag now sagging with candy and treasures. Her gang was getting rowdier as her spirits were lifted, joking amongst each other with a side of rough-housing. Connor grinned to herself, happy to lead them into success. Knocking on the next door, she gave the man who answered it an award-winning grin for a child."Trick or treat!"They chanted in perfect unison, really adding to it all. Handfuls of candy was handed out, and Connor herself received dozens of them in a cutely packaged bag. No doubt this was 'share' sized, but she had no intent of doing so.
Zeerah was starting to realise how generous he'd been by simply accepting a vegetable as a treat. Sure, it had looked pretty cute, but it certainly wasn't candy. Turning to Xero, he wiggled his eyebrows at him conspiratorially."This night is proving pretty fruitless. After this, what say we go rogue? I have another stash of eggs around here,"He announced proudly. Xero remained silent, but he assumed his brother knew there was no chance he would partake in such activities. Zeerah just grinned at him as he rapped his knuckles on the next door."Trick or treat or some middle ground I suppose,"He joked. The woman at the door scowled down at him, looking ready to explode. "I've seen you! You've been pranking the whole neighbourhood!" She growled. Pulling out a delicious-looking toffee apple, she moved it over Zeerah's wide eyes and into Xero's bag. "Here, your brother gets something for not partaking, but you don't get candy, you miserable little devil. Here, your favourite," She mocked placing a pencil in Zeerah's bag before he could pull it away. He was speechless; he'd never been reprimanded before, and this woman was terrifying. After a few minutes of shocked silenced, she burst out laughing. "Oh wow, I got you! Look at your face!" She managed to blurt out between laughter. "Guess I pranked the prankster? Simmer down kid, I was doing that stuff a few years ago too. Here, for a job well done," She said with a chuckle, handing him a plush toy."I uh... thanks lady,"He said, still a little in shock but laughing now. Wow, she really did get him, huh?
Sabera was glad to hear their escort say the night was coming to an end. He'd actually enjoyed their time out and about, but it was starting to drain him. He'd certainly been exposed to a lot of civilisation today, most likely for the better. The group struggled up the stairs to the door of their final destination."Trick or treat!"They chanted, a bit all over the place due to the tiredness of them all. The person seemed to notice their fatigue and giggled to themselves. "Last stop? Better make it good, then," He said, handing out huge pieces of candy as well as fistfulls of smaller ones. The freshlings' eyes all widened in delight as they watched, almost paralysed by their own fortune. Sabera himself received a large lollipop, looking like it would taste of citrus flavours."Thank-you,"He said genuinely, although he was unsure he'd ever be able to finish so many sweets. The group all eagerly gave their thanks as they left, waving goodbye to the man in the doorway. What an evening.
Essurio was still being carried by the teacher as they arrived to their final house. She somewhat realised this might be an embarrassing situation for her, but she was too tired to think about it. She didn't even join in the trick or treat chant, but received some candy regardless. The person at the door seemed to take pity on the sleepy child and handed her a cracked crystal ball. "Suppose it's a bit worthless, now that it's broken," They said bashfully, placing it in her bag. "It still looks pretty, though. Just like you," They complimented with a smile, causing Essurio to blush and shyly dig her face into their teacher's arms. The person just laughed, and finished handing out the candy. The young hallowed was relieved; she was more than ready to go home to her bed.
Colette rang through the last numbers of the apartment building. All but one ignored her, and that was the last one, unit 10."Trick or treat?"She said somewhat hesitantly, a bit demoralised from the amount of rejection she'd been receiving. "There's a bowl by the mailboxes, just take one," The voice said, not unkindly but clearly exasperated."Oh, thank-"Colette began, but they'd hung up. Honestly, some people could be so rude! She turned around in a huff to find this 'bowl' they spoke of. Ah, there it was, nearly hidden by some hanging branches. It was full of half-melted chocolates. Normally, Colette's pampered self wouldn't go near something so messy, lest it get on her beautifully clean fur, but she had a point to prove. She wanted candy, damn it! Reaching in to pluck out the least-melted chocolate, she delicately managed to shove the entire thing into her mouth. No point letting it melt all over her bag, after all. Still, she decided she was done with apartment buildings for the night.
Seems Karayas was getting weary of this night, her legs were hurting from all the walking. Coming to the next house she let out a sigh and trudged up to the door. A shriek was heard, Karayas jumped back and fell onto the steps. All was heard in a slight whisper "Jump did you? Well no treat for you that was your trick, but you made me laugh so you get a plush! and it appeared in front of her.
Kalek was extremely bored with this night, his favorite time of the year and he was bored. House after house almost the same, he wished for something scary, really scary to happen. Following behind his group he stood off to the side waiting for them to finish, he did not want to go up.
Laughing at the toothbrush the "Kirin" was holding she felt better. That house was worth the extra walk to get to just to see that face the "Kirin" made. She called her "Kirin" because that was what she was, did not know her name. Walking on to the house, she spied a Torti on the ground as if lost. Stopping to check on it, it tilted it's head to the side and seemed to smile at her. "I just got claimed didn't I?" laughing she told it to follow her and the other familiars.
Her stomach was still bothering her, more now after biting that purple colored apple. Looked like one more house to go so she followed behind, got to the door and it opened. Smiling was a female of a race she was not familiar with, least not one she saw. Noticing her puzzlement, she introduced herself as a "Doll" holding the treat bowl out for her to take her choice.
As he relaxed eating from his small bag of candy, he looked around. He was so happy this night was nearing the end. He wanted to go home and sleep. His treat was dangling from his hands, then all of a sudden it was gone. Looking over he spied a Torti munching on his candy! Laughing, he asked if it wanted to be his new friend.
Ru felt like there was a period of time where not much happened. He was hoping that something interesting would happen eventually, as long as it wasn't like... a toothbrush or something. He still didn't get that.
At that point, a stranger came by doling out bags of candy corn. When Ru received his, he remembered hearing some juniors arguing over whether candy corn was worthless or not. One guy said that it was was just a tooth-shaped hunk of sugar, while the other guy said that candy corn represented the spirit of the season. Ru figured, why not both? They were fun to chew anyway.
Lucasta wondered if it was a blasphemy to feel bored at trick or treating. Come one, she wanted to get something good! Not that weird veggie thing. What even was that? That person needed to be punished, or something.
Fortunately, something good did happen! She found a golden Vespercat statue that seemed to have been left behind by someone. She picked it up, and giggled when it wiggled its tail. What kind of magic made this move? Fascinating! She put the statue in her treat bag, wondering if it would still move when she wasn't looking at it. Then again, how would she even confirm that? Magic was a mysterious thing sometimes.
Bailey was distractedly licking the leftover chocolate bat from his claws when they approached the next door, Noone answered when they knocked, but outside on the porch was a bowl of School erasers & Pencils... the other freshlings whined and others left there's grumpily.
Bailey happily scooped his up, You can never have too many school supplies! Result - 5
Alula was a little afraid of the turnip with the screaming face, she intended to try and get rid of it when she could! (Maybe sneak it into another Freshlings trick or treat bag! Hehe!)
So she was super happy when the next house gave them all super sugary pumpkin lollipops! Yum! Result - 4
Billie trotted along with their group, tail flicking back and forth behind him. Their long hair had been pulled up in a bun to keep from dragging in the dirt and leaf litter and they had a jaunty pirate hat on. They were a fierce pirate of the sea of leaves! Arrgh!
And at the first house, they got an orange toothbrush. Which was probably sort of useful. They did have a lot of sharp teeth to take care of. They followed along, hoping next house might have a better treat. They wanted chocolate and other types of candy. Candy! Candy!
Echo+Kavael 'Cho and Kavi loved the holidays. Any holidays, really! The two of them shared everything, from clothes to meals to a bed- and activities like this generally meant that they could enjoy the best of what was available. When there were buffets, one of them would load up on a tasty meal, and the other would fill their plate with dessert, making certain they got what they wanted, when they wanted it. This time, they wanted candy– and it just so happened that there were bags of it. Not many, but a few! 'Cho grabbed one triumphantly, putting her hand down on the same bag as Kavi.
Their eyes met, and they smiled.
Leave another bag for someone else to enjoy! They could share the little sugar skulls, and maybe they'd get more later.

Shaolynne Holidays were times to be surrounded by strangers that hustled and bustled around. Holidays were times that other people got their sticky fingers all over the good treats, and leave her to plushes and toothbrushes instead. Well, maybe next time.

Cembra Instead of treats, Cembra liked toys. And it just so happened that toothbrushes looked very much like little hair brushes, and were excellent at styling plush and doll fur. The Gatcha collector worked her way to the neglected bucket of plastic-wrapped toothbrushes and plucked one out, looking at it carefully. Yes... if she got help breaking it right where the neck widened, and filed it down, maybe glued a bead to the end? It would make a perfect tiny brush.

Pearl The tiny Fallen looked around with wide eyes, hands held out by the stiffness of the starched gown that she'd been encouraged to choose as a costume. She shuffled daintily forward, not one to shove as children clamoured to one of the treat tables.
Unfortunately, by the time she got there, there wasn't much for treats left. She took a bag of popcorn, and shuffled off, arms still stuck out to her sides.

Lester So many freshlings... so much competition to get to the good stuff. Lester held back, staying near the wall and carefully using his tail to prop him up taller– so he could see above the throng of masks and budding horns. There! A neglected bucket that had been pushed to the back... it still had something in the bottom of it! The freshling immediately moved towards it, plucking it down and grabbing... a vespercat figurine?
Well, it wasn't a broken ball, at least.
Oct 25: Treat! (14)
Unaki Unaki was too short to see inside of the bins up on the table– but not too short to reach into one. The freshling reached into the bin, pulling out... A bracelet! a bracelet with little singing pumpkins? A bracelet too small to fit on the Sluagh's wrist.
Still, it sang a cute song, and it was spooky! The little girl wandered towards the seats nearby, the pumpkins held against one ear so she could focus on the music.
Oct 25: Treat! (6)
Kestrel The good news? The music was nice, the kids weren't being mean, and the games were a lot of fun! The bad news? Everything that Kestrel tried to get from the treat tables seemed to be picked over and either broken, nabbed or... eww, this lollipop was used!
The little Grimm turned away, jaw trembling a little. Maybe the dancing and games would be more fun than this!
Oct 25: ...nothing... (2)
Ebene What was going on? Where was Ivoire? Things were loud and tumultuous, and the freshling did not like being separated from her sibling. She searched the crowd to no avail, but found a doll.
A very... well-used doll, sitting by itself, under a table, all akimbo! Maybe if she held onto it, she'd find its owner? "Or maybe you can help me find my sister," she said, giggling a little.
