[.yei umeko.]
There are some things in this world that a soquili was not meant to know. Regardless of how often a soquili questioned them, they would never receive the answers and while some found this point to be bitter - others felt truly at peace in the knowledge that no one could be all incompassing and all knowing. Yei Umeko, was one of those Soquili that felt more at ease in the knowledge that some questions could never be answered.
...But others, well, she would rather they were answered. She would rather they were answered in great detail so that she might understand them and maybe even manage to sort out what she considered to be a problem.
She wasn't entirely sure why he irritated her in the manner he did. The male in question didn't strut, rarely glanced at her and no longer made an effort to converse. If anything, her continuous cold shoulder had given her exactly what she had wanted and she was still unhappy - the less he looked at her, the more she felt at a loss...it did something to her that frightened her.
It hurt.
He rarely appeared at the Teepee anymore. His two-legger had wandered off once more leaving Achak to his solitude but the stallion hadn't gone with her. Instead, the mare had heard that he tended to remain in the herd lands, those that belonged to her family nearby. He was out of sight but never quite out of her mind.
It was so very strange and it was getting even more peculiar as the days progressed. It was no longer of case of wondering where he was, she no longer needed to hear him speak to recall his voice or those eyes - they had permanently burned into her soul and she was terrified. In all her years within the Kawani lands she had never experienced this and given her age...one might have assumed that she would have.
So, so naive... Her mind whispered and her ears flicked absently.
She knew him. Not from that fateful day when they had met recently. No, she had met him before and much to her disapproval she couldn't recall where. She was a mare of her convictions, she never forgot anything and yet the illustrious stallion and his true identity evaded her.
She just didn't understand.
She had heard talk amongst the soquili in the Clearings about the ascension of a soquili, recognition of their status, age and wisdom. Only the wisest could become and elder and some had even suggested she had the potential...she knew so much and yet this...
"You aren't ready." She murmured softly, her form drooping as she admired her reflection in the stream. Yes, her eyes held a wisdom and her body told many tales in reference to how it was formed. She was tall, well built and had experienced much she was still naive to a point and she knew that until she had experienced what was necessary she simply wasn't ready.
There was no way.
"You will hurt your neck if you crane it so much..." The voice was teasing, a gentle whisper and she stood bolt upright. A glance from left to right indicated that the words had not been from her side, they had been from within and yet all the while they were his words.
All his.
She hadn't seen him in days and almost craved his presence, if only to shout at him just because he was there. If only to glare at him for his beautiful form and the proud manner in which he could hold his head. She had only seen him once in public and despite his height (tall for a wind) he hadn't seemed imposing, he'd be so very polite...and humble.
"Do you remember that tree...The one with the apples? Again, his voice and yet she couldn't recall. It seemed much younger, unbroken and more playful. She couldn't see his face but she knew it was him and released a sigh.
"Who are you...?" She murmured softly, "Where did you come from?" She continued, shutting her eyes tight as she bowed her head once more and willed her mind to accept her request. It seemed that remembering him was not something that the fate's wished her to do...Or maybe something in her didn't want to.
Nevertheless, from within the trees a white feline continued to watch the mare thoughtfully. Said feline hadn't seen this soquili in many years but in that time, something had changed - a lot seemed to have changed...
