[ Mialee ]
Alora glared at the mare, her anger reaching a near boiling point. It was obvious to all those around, present and watching, that she was near snapping. This plan had not been a good idea. It brought back the past whch she had fought hard to repress and the hatred and anger that stemmed from it. Alora's eye twitched slightly as she listened to Cadaver. Her last bits of reasoning told her he was right. This mare was not worth her time..and certainly not a weak mare and so she would be spared. Somehow this made sense in Alora's messed up mind as she seemingly snapped, the insanity that had been building up that she had fought back, was now overcoming and winning her over.

Alora snapped raking teeth at the mare who turned with outspread wings to leave, her green eyes gleaming with hatred and anger, and obviously a haziness as they glazed over, but instead of attacking, Alora turned and took off. She meant to kill and attack any and all that crossed her path that were weaker. The two leggers...weak mares, weak stallions...it didn't matter. She would taste their blood.

Alora raced towards the two legger with bared, gleaming teeth dripping with blood. It took only moments to take the human down with battering hooves and rip its throat open, the screams now silenced by the gurgling blood and the human's last dying breath. She had indeed gone insane. Her muzzle, face, legs and chest were smeared with fresh blood from the path of victims she left in her blood lust, her hatred behind this killing spree. She thundered forward once more, seeking out her next victim. She had killed mares, two leggers, even a few stallions, and in some cases foals of the weak. She could not let them grow up to weaken their species like their parents had.

She looked about wildly as she spotted another mare, who was indeed horrified by the killing she had just witnessed, a look of terror upon the young mare's face. Alora did not hestitate. She moved forward once more, towards the mare with intent, the intent to kill shining brightly in her eyes. Her body was covered with a mix of sweat and blood as she closed in on the next intended victim, fixated eyes on the mare and her mouth now open to reveal the blood stained teeth.

The day had started poorly, the air had been heavy and the clouds were foreboding. All signs pointed to an ill event, one foretold and evidently of deep concern to the spirits. Such were the signs, that his two legger had paused atop a mountain ridge to look west towards the forests below and by the gods the Wind had never seen her so troubled.

If her gaze hadn't been enough, the horrified screams that rippled across the mountainside had been. Jolted out of his reverie the stallion had cast a stunned glance towards the sounds. In all his time in the Kawani lands he had never been subject to such an assault but he recognised it - ah yes, it was so very similar to when the predators launched their assaults and that was enough to make his skin crawl.

With scarce hesitation, the stallion pulled himself to his feet and launched into the air. Wing beat after wing beat, he propelled himself forward towards the locations, the epicentre of the shrieks.

...What he found there was something that could not be described by words alone. His muffled thump echoed in the now silent forest, the creatures too traumatised from what they had seen to utter a cry. His hoof beats fully audible, each step a life time in length - all he could see was the mauled and mutilated forms of humans and soquili alike.

To say the stallion was at a loss for words was an understatement, rather, he was overwhelmed by something he had not felt in many years. Complete rage, utter fury and neither of these emotions was particularly desirable when encountered - even so, they instilled him with a strength that few (other than protectors) could fathom and once again he took flight...

******

It seemed the trail of death was endless and even from this height the thick stench of blood still penetrated his senses. Sweeping across the forest canopies he urged himself forward and furrowed his brow. He had heard rumours of murderous soquili, creatures known as 'skinwalkers' but he was fairly certain that they waited until it was dark - was it possible they could have taken a greater step?

No.

This was so much more! His blood boiled and he gritted his teeth as he gave another beat of his iridescent wings, his eyes flitting through the gaps in the canopy in order to follow the trails below...Corpses strewn at random intervals throughout his travels.

Just how many had been killed?

Alas, he had no time to contemplate this question as another strangled cry and a sickening crunch game from ahead of him. He had no doubt that the cry was that of a human, a soquili had a different one but even so...

One. Two. Three.

Closing his wings unceremoniously he took an estimated guess and slammed through the thinnest part of the canopy. The branches need little encouragement as they gave way under the soquili's weight and thus, the Phoenix descended upon the scene in a rather abrupt fashion.

Choosing to ignore the repetitive slaps to his wings and legs, he eventually unfurled his wings once more, the flight feathers billowing out as he landed directly between the two mares. The effect was dazzling to say the least, the array of colours gleaming in the small rays of light that crept through the trees but the overall appearance of the stallion rather spoiled what may have been a pleasant look.

Instead, the stallion had finally pulled himself to his full height and once warm eyes had become those of steel. Calculating, precise he was much like a hawk examining his pray as he assessed Alora. As a flutter, she was much smaller than him...but it didn't take a genius to know that she was the culprit.

"Run." He snapped gruffly to the mare behind him, "And do not look back." He added without casting a glance towards Alora's would be victim - instead, he had eyes only for what he deemed to be a monster.

"What have you done." He hissed, more of a statement than a question, his wings still unfurled to block the mare completely from view.

Alora had prepared to spring herself forward to attack her intended victim, but instead, suddenly a bright golden winged soquili landed in her way.....a phoenix. A creature she had heard rumors of but had never seen. She skidded to a halt to avoid crashing into him, which would leave her in a very vulnerable position. Everything good he represented only served to irritate and anger her more in his lust for the blood of the weak. His interference would earn him her wrath and if possible she would killed the feathered beast.

She managed to snarl a sentence out from her thoughts as she lowered her head, sizing him up, her emerald orbs blazing with anger and hatred, the same hatred that filled her dark soul. "How dare you get in my way. You have no right to interfere in my business. Move." Her last word has been an order and not a request, but she doubted he would obey and step aside. Her lips curled as she bared her teeth threateningly at him, her expression was almost demonic as the insanity took a full hold on her now.

she was not the least bit threatened by his size, and for a small mare she manauvered quite well. She had the advantage of speed over his bulky form, or so she thought. "I am ridding our lands of the weak and you dare not stand in my way stallion. Be warned I will kill you if you should try to stop me. Our race is weak because of them! And the humans who weaken them further, many can no longer function on their own as the wild soquili they should be...they are weak and must die." She snarled and hissed her words at him.

The young terrified mare ran as she was commanded and she did not look back. She was eternally grateful to the strange stallion that had saved her life, but this day would haunt her memories and dreams for some time to come.

Unfortunately, unlike the creature in which he was 'descended' from, this knight did not have the power to restore the dead to life. It was something he dwelt upon occasionally but had rarely come to any conclusions. All things had to die eventually but murder was not a viable option in his eyes - a pity he could not grant life to those who had been slaughtered so mercilessly. Nevertheless, as the mare began to utter words of malice towards him he afforded a raised brow.

"Such demands." He stated calmly, wings relaxing ever so slightly, "That which demands will always find its path hindered within this world." He added, the words subtle but enough to inform her that he would not be obeying her orders any time soon.

It was during this time, as she spewed such language that he afforded himself a moment to assess the situation. Granted, she was much smaller than him and perhaps she would have a slight advantage when it came to evasion but should he take this in to consideration he was certain he could combat it. He had already become well aware that standing aside was not an option.

"Mayhaps I should inform you of a few things though..." A small smile crept onto his lips and he released a low chuckle, "What you define as weak is much stronger than you shall ever be, what humans you speak ill of are perhaps the wisest of their kind." He arched a brow silkily and shook his head, his gaze becoming critical.

"I know not what has influenced you, but I do pity you for your naivity. Those that have turned you into such a monster would be proud..." And with that he fell silent once more, flicking his mane from his eyes as he focused his attention on the mare again.

...She would have the first move, he wanted to see how she carried herself first.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 29, 2007 2:16 pm

Alora snorted at his response and spat her words at him, her tone very menacing as her eyes gleamed dangerously. "If you do not move you shall suffer the same fate as all those that have fallen before you today. Now get out of my way. You've wasted enough of my time as it is" Her lips curled into yet another snarling expression as she bared her teeth once more.

She looked the stallion over, and she knew he would not be moving any time soon, and so she would have to dispose of him then since he was a threat to her plan, to her intentions. He was much larger then her but no matter. She did not feel fear of him. She noticed his colorful feathers and delighted in the thought of ripping them out in a bloody manner.

His words now were lost to her. They only served to make her angrier and certainly they would not reach her. She had snapped into a psychotic episode long before his arrival. "They are weak pathetic beings that only serve to weaken our species. They hinder us. Obvously they have tainted you and you are lost, lost by their weakening. And so I shall do you a favor and release you from their bindings, and release you from this world....your death will be fast, unless you fight. I promise to make it long, drawn out and painful if you oppose me." Her words were filled with rage, and it was obvious she was very lost to her ways and beliefs on the humans and the soquilis that served them.

"A monster?" She hissed at him and then laughed. "You knwo nothing about me, but know this. My mother was weak, she weakened my father and caused his death. I will rid this world of suc weakness. No one can stop me..not even you." and with those words uttered, she lunged forward at the stallion, sending raking teeth towards his throat, seeking to grab a death choke.

And there it was, without even the slightest shift of his expression the stallion cupped his wings and gave them an almighty beat. The dust flew up around him and with surprising strength and speed he hurled himself into the air. It was momentary, he couldn't maintain levitation within the forest but it gave him enough time to 'spring' from her direct line of fire.

Nevertheless, her attack had been a direct challenge and his eyes grew colder. The warmth that had once radiated from his wings seemed to triple - as she made war cry, he made his...the only difference was that his was silent. Shaking his head, the braids clattered against his neck and he landed with a muffled thumped diagonally to the left of her attack.

...All in all, in the forest he couldn't use his skills to his advantage but in time he would bring her into his domain. All it required was patience, the occasional 'suggestive' movement and the crazed mare would follow - the weakest of her kind no less.

"I would like to see you try." He replied at last, the cruel smile flickering onto his lips as the glorified knight beat his wings once more. All in all, he had no intention of trying to fly again but he was going to abuse what they did. With each beat, his hooves lifted slightly off the ground and he moved them ever faster.

Surprisingly, the wind that he could generate was rather strong and as he forced the air up from beneath him the dry soil beneath him crumbled and whittled to dust. For now, in a realm that was not his own, this dust would be his weapon and thus he forced it into the air in large clouds until a steady stream enveloped the vicinity.

If it didn't choke her lungs, it would be enough to cloud her sight.

Perfect.

Flexing his wings once more, the stallion allowed his hooves to touch upon the ground once more yet the beats of the feathered limbs remained insistent. All she need to was follow the sound, one of her rage couldn't possibly think this through logically, now could she?
PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 11:53 am

Alora's face turned to shock as the stallion suddenly moved upwards, dodging her attack and levitating overtop of her. She skidded to a halt, coughing from all the dust that was no nearly blinding to her. She looked maliciously up at the beast. She loathed the idea of using her wings. She could fly but she hated it. She preferred to keep her feet on the ground as much as possible. Anger surged throughout her as the rage took over, a blood lust upon her once more. Her emotions were wild and uncontrolled.

So....he wanted to fight...to challenge her... so be it. Her emerald green eyes flashed dangerously, portraying everything to him he would need to know. "I will do mroe then try" She snarled in a vicious tone and turned to where he had landed. She vaulted herself forwards forward in an onslaught, attempting to attack him once more. Her thoughts were scattered and she didn't even really think. She reacted on instinct and only the basics at that.

However she had not expected the wind he could create with his wings and she found herself struggling against it in her attempts to reach him. This in turn proved to be very tiring for the mare. The dust came forwards and hit her face. She snapped viciously at it, although that would do nothing to stop it. It was blinding and stung with every hit. It was time for a different method.

And so she moved away from the stallion some, attempting to go around the dust and perhaps catch him from the side or behind. However she did not anticipate the possibility that if he could hover and create such a force, he could probably turn it and move with her....but then,,she was in a crazed state and logical thought processes escaped her.

He wouldn't follow her, it had been designed merely to hinder. Those who were inexperienced tired themselves out, failed in pacing themselves and ultimately gave the superior the advantage. Provided he did not under estimate her he would continue to have the upper hand and as she took another path he too adapted and adjusted his strategy.

No longer directed the wind towards the ground he instead thrust his wings once more and launched himself to the other side of the clearing again. This was not without reason, he would continue to goad and lure her - the more illogical she would become the better and the more he could goad her the sooner he could get her into the open.

Still, he did grimace briefly as the branches caught briefly on his wings and he was promptly forced to draw them to his sides again. Clearly, the stallion was too tall for the forest and if he misjudged he was going to get stuck. Shaking his head however, he flicked his whip like tail and canted his head to the side - easing back step by step from the clearing.

It would be a slow process and he was at his most vulnerable now. In order to progress the battle he would have to keep moving and given he couldn't see behind him...well, he was going to get hit quite a few times in his attempts to dodge but it was the only way he was going to get her into his playing field.

"You seem to be failing now." He pointed out coolly, continuing to pace backwards.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 12:25 pm

Alora watched now as the stallion discontinued his force of wind and dust and moved further away from her. Coward! She thought ot herself and went after him. There was enough ground now between them for her to gain some speed and momentum, and perhaps have enough force to topple the stallion with a lunging attack. Her one goal was to sink her teeth deeply into his neck and choke the life from him....and perhaps maybe rip out those beautiful feathers he seemed to take such pride in.

A sinister, dark smile took place as she watched his wings catch on the branches now. So the forest was not a good place for him to fight. One logical thought but it did nothing mroe then make her want to drive him into the trees. She did not think about the advantages he would have in an open area. She charged forwards, hooves thundering under her as she gained as much speed as she could push herself to muster, quickly closing the gap between them.

She spoke no words now. All thought processes for a spoken reply were lost and she concentrated only on the goal in mind. She could hear him but his words did not reach her, they fell upon deaf ears. Instead of going directly for his neck though, she decided to lunge at his side. Her instinct told her to disable his wings and she would have him grounded, and so it was his wings she aimed at in her attack.

Well she had almost gotten the right idea, but aiming for his side was unwise and as she approached he took a breath and swung himself to the side. It was fast enough to block his wings from direct assault but not enough to land a blow.

Oh no.

Quite the opposite. While she may have missed the opportunity to land a crushing blow to his most valuable asset she did manage to clip his jaw. The result was a rather unpleasant crunch as his teeth ground together and his head was knocked to the side - and into the branch directly beside it.

It wasn't something he had anticipated nor could he have predicted it but he had under estimated her. Clearly she could think logically and he released a hiss of pain as he tugged his head away from the branches. It was only then that he took note of the searing pain and the blurred vision in his eye...clearly a branch had impacted somewhere it shouldn't have.

Actually, that was a little bit of an understatement as the now opened wound began to seep with blood. Directly upon the corner of his eye it had struck the delicate flesh and a number of blood vessels with it. It was unsurprising he couldn't see all that well, unsurprising he was in pain... It had already begun to stain and destroy the golden fur upon his cheeks and the putrid smell of iron began to fill the air.

Urgh, he just hoped he wouldn't lose too much...

Nevertheless, the spilled blood and injury were enough for his ears to flatten against his head and what little honour he had, vanished. It was then, that the glorified assassin released a roar of rage and lifted himself onto his hind legs, his intention solely to knock her against the tree while his tail lashed out behind him.

Oh yes, a swift lashing to her backside would cause a sting of pain and that was only the start...

He was no knight, his herd could vouch for that.

Rather, he was an assassin and while he based his duty on honour there were times when he could warp and twist the definition of this word to his advantage.

And that is exactly what he did.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 2:00 pm

Alora had missed her intended target, but she was pleased she did not miss entirely. She heard the crunch as their bodies collided some, the impact was enough to knock the air out of her. His shoulder had squared her right in the chest. She took a few steps back, gasping for air. Once she caught her breath, she glared hatefully at the stallion. Alora bared her gleaming white teeth once more as her jaw gapped open.

Alora paused a moment as she noticed the blood gushing from his head, the scent of it was enough to nearly drive her mad with a blood rage. Her animal instincts took over as she sought to benefit from his wound and the blood flowing from his head. Charging forward once more as he roared in rage, she aimed to slam him into a tree....but she had moved too soon. Her impatience and lack of skill use would now cost her, as the stallion reared on hind legs she found herself missing his chest and belly.

Hooves flailed and pawed at the air above her as she faltered, his tail stinging her rump only caused her to bolt forwards and she stumbled, finding her head between his back legs as she nearly crashed into the ground, her forelegs buckling under the pressure. The half crazed mare tried to scramble to her feet before his hooves found her flesh, but she was not swift enough to escape such injury.

Wham!

His hooves smashed against her rump with a force that he hadn't quite anticipated. Her misjudgement had been to his advantage and thus his hooves slashed into her delicate flesh. To the naive, to those who never fought hooves seemed to be useless tools but for a veteran they could be a deadly weapon.

It should therefore have been no surprise that the gashes were incredibly deep.

Still, he would stumble if he didn't act now and with a heave of his wings he released another hiss and thrust himself over her form, using his hind legs (on her back) to propel himself over her. That done, he landed just nearby and purposefully snapped his tail against the newly appeared gashes before folding his wings once more.

...Now she was on the ground he had his chance.

And he took it.

Bolting away from the tiny clearing in the forest he dashed (and occasionally stumbled) through the trees towards the open ground. Given her apparent insanity she would follow, but by the time she did she would find that he would have taken flight.

Oh yes, he had every intention of taking off as soon as he hit open air.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 3:46 pm

Alora felt the mighty hooves as they crashed upon her back end, slicing her dark flesh open. The blood that flowed matched her red streaks that ran throughout her mane and tail and her crimson red wings. She squealed with pain as the sharp hooves scraped down her body, leaving long and fairly deep gashes on her rump and down her delicate sides and flank. It was then, before she could recover she felt the thud of his hind legs on her back, leaving bloodied hoof marks as he propelled himself over her. They were not as deep but equally as painful.

The enraged mare squealed in pain and rage as the stallion's tail whipped her wounds, and such a rage took over, blinding any and all reason and thought. Instincts were no longer, just blind rage. She struggled to her feet and spun to chase down the stallion, who to her surprise, was now fleeing. Or so she thought.

Indeed as he had predicted she followed. Insanity had taken her over, accompanied by her blind rage and so she thoughtlessly followed....in a frenzied state she ran. She ached all over her back, sides and rump, but her legs did not and so she used them now to pursue him. She followed his path, keeping him in her sights as they darted around trees in this game of chase. She began to sweat and lather and the salty sweat stung in her fresh wounds. She had no idea of the impending doom ahead. She did not realize the advantage he would have once they reached open land beyond the forest trees.

And then there was light!

The half blinded stallion broke from the cover of the forest. Released from his prison the glorified assassin gave a roar as he spread his wings and launched himself into the air. Much to his luck, the day may have been nice but there was enough of a breeze to aid his descend and he quickly began to rise above the ground.

Immediately, despite the excruciating pain that now throbbed at the side of his head, he felt at ease. Once again he began to feel the calming influences of the soft breeze on his cheeks and a small portion of his mind cleared.

Yes, she had wings.

...But they were small.

Here, size really did matter where the biggest creature would be able to make the biggest impact in combat. His wing beats would unsettle hers and thus he was in his element.

Steeled on with his now renewed vigour he swung round in a large arch and continued to circle above the clearing - watching and waiting for his one good eye. All the while, his mind clamouring towards two set paths of attack - neither of which would be pretty.
