Earth was in imminent danger. Commodore Lyndin had weighed his options for quite a while, but in the end, there was only one choice: protect Earth.
He had seen the fall of one world. Was watching the fall of another. Earth could not become another casualty.
The Vanguardians were asked to help, but not commanded. There was no expectation that they must, and more than that, Lyndin did not expect them to stay if they decided this was not worth their life. He had been in communication with Velencya, and there was a small window where the Vanguardians might choose to flee Earth. If Earth was destroyed, they could still escape. Velencya would rendezvous with them. They could go home.
Or, they could stay.
The data was there. The possibility was there.
Lyndin had explained it in great detail in a message sent through their ComTechs:
- There is a striking similarity to the prison containing the creature approaching Earth and our own technology, including the usage of components native to Velenia. I’ve analyzed what I can by reading the storms and tracking energy outbursts and have come to the conclusion that this creature is organically manufacturing an energy we can process and refine for Velencya. This is a patch for a greater problem but there is a high probability that we can accomplish multiple tasks at once by assisting the people of Earth in handling this issue.
I’ve developed a blueprint for a device we may be able to use to weaken the creature and simultaneously harvest energy to transport back to Velencya. If weakened, this creature poses a significantly lesser threat. I am not confident that the energy we extract from it will be enough to stabilize the Core but there is a slim possibility. I don’t want it to slip away. Regardless, it will benefit everyone to reduce this creature’s propensity for destruction.
I’d like to know if our technology has been utilized without our permission. If we can recover more data, it will help fill in the gaps of our records and better anticipate what future threats may hold. If our technology was borrowed or manipulated, we should at least be aware of what to expect. It is also possible we may be able to recover rare materials. This is a lesser priority but something to consider as well.
If Earth is destroyed, we may lose the ability to restore Velenia. This is our greatest resource and means to uncover ways to revitalize our world or stabilize Velencya. If Earth is destroyed, we lose the central hub and all connections. I do not know what will happen to Caedus or his starseed if he does not evacuate. Similarly, I do not know what will happen to the people of Earth. There is a great risk their starseeds will not return to the Cauldron if this creature strikes.
This is a dangerous threat. While I am confident that we can manage it, I do not ask you to put yourself in harm’s way if your judgment deems otherwise. If you can stay and help, please do. If you wish to evacuate, please see me. We’ll coordinate. In the meantime, please utilize your Source Stones. My device will be completed but I’ll need energy to power it. If you have questions or require guidance, my doors are open.

No bonuses can be applied towards this number, it is calculated solely on rank! A low RNG number OOCly does not correspond with low effort or success ICly, however, if players want to raise their OOC total then they can do so by doing event RPs/solos!
