A manilla envelope sits carefully on the desk, a large red "CLASSIFIED" stamp across it. Inside there are medical charts, an array of research notes, and an abundance of warnings and protocols. Though a lot of information seems to be redacted. At the bottom of the envelope was a crossed out label SPECTRUM RESEARCH.

Or losing their love. ...Orientation// Aromantic Heterosexual ...Power Source// Curses, Metal, and Blood ...Commonly Known Facts// She is an experiment from Spectrum transferred to Mara Gold at SIU. She seems to like sweets. She was a Belrad mercenary and was one of the top ranking mercs in Tretera under the name "Zero". Had partnered with Zephyr and received a perfect score on their team test. ...Highly Protected Facts// Her biological parents are Zaku Shiori (Leader of the Renegades) and Rasiel Broken (Infamous Serial Killer). Her twin sister is Melody. And she has two sadistic half-siblings: Stormy and Akash. She's been secretly in contact with Zephyr.
.::Hobbies::.
...Combat-Ready// She has been trained to fight if necessary, mostly in defensive. Has been instructed to never use it unless she must defend herself against an attacker. She seemed to like learning how to fight.. I think. ...Humming?// If she's left idle by herself for a long while, you might hear her start to hum to herself. ...Singing// She has a beautiful singing voice as she does enjoy singing a lot, now that she's able to without much embarrassment. The tune comes naturally and that seems to be the only time she can convey emotions is when she's singing. ....Puzzles?// There was once where she solved a rubics cube in a few minutes and then became bored after it stopped being a challenge. Maybe if she were challenged more, she'd possibly enjoy it again.
.::Virtues::.
...Calm// Her composure is high as nothing seems to bother her. She just goes with the flow. She also never seems to get mad or angry about anything. ...Unwavering// She doesn't scare easily, she will stand her ground boldly no matter the threat. If she thinks her life will be at stake, she will take necessary measures to prevent an early demise. ...Loyal// She is loyal to those who "own" her. She does as she's told and doesn't question things. If she spends a lot of time around someone, her loyalty toward that person may begin to shine through, making it harder for decisions of conflict of loyalties. ...Patient// She is very patient and will wait her whole life for something if she was asked to or had to. She has no problem biding her time at a leisurely pace if that is what is needed. ...Eidetic Memory// Also known as photographic memory, she just has to see something once for her to remember it at any time later. This also extends into hearing as well. Basically, she never forgets anything. ...Combat-Ready// She has been trained to fight if necessary, mostly in defensive. Has been instructed to never use it unless she must defend herself against an attacker.
.::Flaws::.
...Flat Affect// It is hard to tell what she's thinking as she shows no emotions on her face, always looking deadpan or bored. Doesn't mean she doesn't have emotions, she very well surprise you on how happy or sad she might be feeling without anyone knowing. Her behavior tends to be the indicator rather than facial expression. ...Cold// She tends to be a realist and doesn't harbor any hesitation for doing what needs to be done. Which can make her unpredictable at times as she does what she feels is necessary in that moment without letting emotions mix into her decisions. ...Nightmares// Being part of the small corrupted section of Spectrum for so many years, they experimented on her with invasive procedures and painful tests. She comes to expect it and even accepts it willingly now, but it gives her nightmares as her subconscious still relives those moments in the child-like part of her mind. Sometimes, she will wake up screaming do to nightmares, and may even hurt herself on accident from her night terrors. She now has nightmares about being buried alive. ...Robotic// Due to the way she was being raised, she seems to perceive herself as some kind of android or robot (Calls herself a weapon). She speaks (if she does speak) is robotic and cold in nature and she is very cold and calculating. Also because of her views, she tends to forget to eat or sleep or refers to such things as "maintenance", "refueling" and "sleep mode". ...Bad Luck// Over time, it seems that Hexxis has developed quite a bit of bad luck. Whether it has to do with how she changed her fate or whether it just happened, things never seem to go her way as she's always ending up in the worse situations. However, she seems to have a certain reluctance and determination that she always pulls through alive, though sometimes barely, but it's not without it's scars... sometimes physical and sometimes mental.
.::General Appearance::.
...Eyes// Red Eyes (Discovered: Left eye is blue) ...Hair// Purple with Red streaks, usually kept in a ponytail ...Height// 5'7" ...Stature// Relaxed ...Expression// Deadpan look, expressionless. ...Dress// She re-purposed most of the pieces of her favorite childhood uniform into her newest outfit. Grey dress and clothes, stockings, brown boots. She hand sewed a black jacket to look very similar to Tri's with modifications of her own. She loves that jacket and refuses to take it off if she can get away with it. Has been caught sleeping in it from time to time.

Tri stood quietly to the side as one of the researchers started to give her a basic medical check up. For some reason they used a tinted glass tube when collecting her blood, before they moved on to check her ears ,heart and lungs and finally stopping at her eye. It was one of the first things -he- would have done since there was something obviously wrong there.
Researcher 1: "Hexxis... it says you don't like having your eye touched.. but we need to at least check how your eye is doing under there. See if there is anything we can do to help "
Hexxis was very compliant with the tests, still seeming to look away from the blood draw despite not being able to see it either way. Everything was going fairly smoothly. Then came the eye examination. Hexxis seemed to hesitate then shook her head slowly. Staring at the researcher with her one visible eye. She was, for the very first time since arriving, being reluctant.
R1: is there a reason you don't want us to see? ::he said quietly, calmly as if talking to a human child::
Hexxis flickered her vision to Tri then back to the researcher then to the floor and shook her head once more with a bit more force.
R1: hm.. ::he leaned back watching her, making a point not to look at Tri... it made him uncomfortable:: are you afraid of having it taken off?
Hexxis kept her vision low as she thought about the question. Afraid wasn't exactly the word she would choose to use, more like highly uncomfortable with her blind eye being messed with or even looked at. She decided to merely agree, and nodded slowly.
R1: Would it be easier if you take it off yourself? I won't touch it .. I just need to shine a bit of light. Maybe Tri can stand by you If you want? ::noticing how she kept looking toward the other meta and at the moment anything that would make her even a bit comfortable helped which is why he did all the other test first to make a pattern:: *
R1:he was about to give up when he noticed the slight change in Hexxis refusal when he mentioned tri's name. Glancing toward the older meta he suppressed a slight shiver, the meta was looking at them very closely, especially at him. Yet there had to be a way to use this, but he wasn't sure how...and why would she feel safe with Tri? He wasn't even sure how Mara did it either. "What if we ask Tri to hold you? and afterwards you can both get some ice cream" knowing that at least used to work with Ree, but very doubtful it would do anything now. They would likely have to drug her drink and do the check again later.
Hexxis narrowed her gaze slightly, considering the offer, not exactly concerned with the treat, but more realizing that if she didn't eventually comply, it may end up being more painful. She weighed the options in her mind carefully. Was it worth what could possibly come if she persisted in keeping her eye hidden. She considered the possibility that it might be just a little bit easier to handle if the older meta was involved. Though she couldn't understand why she felt that way. After a few moments, she moved her hands away from her face slowly, placing them back in her lap. She kept her gaze on the floor, reluctant to look at Tri for the moment.
R1:looked between them confused, was that a yes? or did he push to much and she shut down?. Maybe they really should do this later. "It's okay lets try ag- "
Tri silently moved forward and picked her up, shifting his wings out of the way he sat down in the seat she had been in and rested her on his lap, arms around her waist and he back to his chest.
Hexxis blinked as Tri suddenly moved to her and picked her up. After a moment, they had settled in the chair, her sitting in his lap. She had never been held before in her life, a strange feeling but it was even more comforting than a gentle wing against her back. She seemed a little tense but was relaxing again as she was getting used to it. Hexxis shifted her eye to look at the researcher. Deep down, she was scared, her heart was racing as she waited for what came next.
R1: uh... okay then. I will just take a look nothing else. He said reaching out slowly to the eye patch in an attempt to lift it off the eye slowly, his hand shaking slightly and his heart racing as he lifted the pen light just to look.
Tri held absolutely still, he knew what was happening and also knew there was nothing he could do other than stay as still as he could. It wouldn't do for Hexxis to be accidently injured from the researcher's fear of him. A shadow being a comfort to a non shadow... was a little ironic to him. Actually no..it confused him immensely, he did not think she would have accepted either.
Hexxis tensed up, her breath quickened slightly as the researcher pull up the eyepatch, her left eye still closed half out of habit, half reluctance from fear. She was still, her body refusing to let her move. She kept her open eye locked on the researcher, still trying to convince herself to open her left eye.
R1:sigh softly:: "I'm not going to hurt you, we just want to help and see if we can get vision back into that eye ..if possible. Sometimes it is ..especially with the medicine and techniques we have today" he said quietly still not touching her, even so what he said was true. Blindness wasn't always permanent, especially if she had vision and lost it.. it might just even be a detached cornea and those could be fix with a bit of surgery. Even so he assumed that would be on the file.
Tri said nothing but instead he moved his middle wings forward covering her from the neck down... nearly hiding her except for her face. Something he used to do with Ree as well, especially when he was scared.
Hexxis took a deeper breath than normal, she had heard that kind of speech before. That they could possibly save vision in her other eye. Though the answer was always the same. The injuries she sustained before she was born had caused her to be irreversibly blind in her left eye her whole life. Tri wrapped her in his wings and she appeared to relax a bit. She squeezed his arm with her small hand as she mustered the courage to open her eye. She was still scared from how self conscious she was about it, but was able to open her eye to look straight at the researcher with a full gaze.
R1: relaxed a bit which was not much. "Pretty" he said quietly and well it was, he would have kept his observations to himself but right now he didn't think saying it out loud would be a bad thing. He flash the light in her blind eye then pulled it away and did it a few more times looking carefully for any change in the pupil of the blind eye. Changing the setting of the light he flashed it again , narrowing his own eyes but he barely saw anything without being able to dilute her eyes with drops. It was easy to rule out advance cataracts at least and a few others as he lean in closely but not enough to touch her. While Tri's presence pulled him back quickly. He spent a couple more minute sont his before finally pulling away. "Okay then...I will say I can't really tell? The only way we can know for sure is if we do a full eye exam on both eyes...but that can be done another day. You can watch Tri do his first .. he is due for it soon. He tried to smile but the silver glare made him drop it moments later. " As well as Ree.... you can watch them both do the same exam and see if you can handle it...?"
Hexxis flickered her eyes to the ground for a very brief moment as he commented on her eye. Regardless of the compliment, she was still self conscious. She seemed to be a bit more relieved when the researcher pulled away, but it was replaced with more feelings of dread as he told her they would need to do a full eye exam. She wasn't looking forward to that. The researcher mentioned Tri doing one as well and she tilted her head up enough to look at Tri from her position. Then there was mention of another person she had not met and she committed the name to memory, as it might become important later. She was leaning toward liking the idea of at least knowing what she was getting into, but it didnt change the fact that she would have to remove her eyepatch once again. Though maybe it would be a little different next time. She squeezed his arm a little more as she stated up at him through her unchanging blank face.
Tri:grrrrr, he hated the exams.. his eyes was all fuzzy for hours until it wore off... even so it was fun watching Ree run into things he didn't usually want to do the same. Glancing away from the researcher he looked down and blinked seeing her staring up at him. With a soft sigh he nodded "Yes.... I can do if first if you wish to watch. It's irritating but it wears off in an hour or two" he said bluntly even as the researcher flinched. It was worse for him because they spent weeks trying to find out why his eyes glowed. "You just have to wear sun glasses during that time" he said tightening his hold on her a little, a light hug before lifting her up and putting her down on the ground and letting out. He reached up and slide her eye patch back over her eye. "If that is all?" he looked at the researcher to make sure but the man was already writing notes into a new folder. "Yep that is all .. don't forget to get her some ice cream " he said absently . Tri snorted softly but didn't respond. "I can bring you a cone after I leave you at your room to rest " he said quietly to her.
Hexxis listened to his explanation and despite her distress about the idea of have her eyes tested, she nodded in understanding, reading his own discomfort for the situation as surprisingly reassuring rather than concerning. Like he understood. She closed her eyes momentarily as he hugged, then only opening her right eye for the time being as she was then lift and put back down on the ground. She didn't react in the slightest to Tri reaching for her eyepatch this time, allowing him to pull it down into its rightful position over her left eye. Hexxis relaxed immensely as her face felt right again. The offer of ice cream was brought up again as she didn't even know what that was. Merely staring up at Tri, she nodded in compliance and stood close to Tri before it was time to leave and go to her room. Rest sounded really nice about now, it had been a big day, as she she saw it, she had expended enough energy to warrant and even invite being idle for a little while.

Darker Side of Me
Hexxis had been sitting on her bed, staring off, a slight hum escaping her lips as she swung her fee back and forth, her face completely void of emotion, fixated on nothing at all. She halted all movement when a ruckus in the hall seemed to catch her attention, her eye sliding toward the door with a thick window in it. Hopping down, her curiousity had gotten the better of her as she wandered up to the door, she was just too short to see through it. So she grabbed the chair to the desk and dragged it over to the door so she could see through the window. It took a few moments, but she managed to climb into the chair and come to a stand. Hexxis blinked her eyes as she looked through the window, no one outside seemed to see her as she pressed her hands against the window to stabilize herself. The ruckus was getting louder, as then two stretchers was rushed back, copious amounts of blood catching her attention as her body froze up in a bit of panic, her malice hadn't seemed to reaction but she was still frightened by the sight as she suddenly lost balance and fell from the chair. Hexxis hadn't unlatched the chains from her wrist inhibitors, causing her to be unable to have the mobility needed to try to catch herself, hitting the ground hard with a yelp. Her head stung badly, as she placed a hand where her head hit the floor. She paused, waiting for Ash to wake up, to speak, to take control. But nothing happened. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she felt like she dodged a bullet. It wasn't until she pulled her hand back down from holding her head that she realized it was covered in blood. Her eyes widened in fear as something began to stir within her.
'...hello, little one~'a voice rang out softly in her mind. Hexxis curled up, grasping at her head. "C-code ash activating..." she forced out shakily, closing her eyes tightly. After a moment, curled on the floor, Hexxis began to cry loudly, loud enough for someone to hear her, inviting a worrisome adult to come for this scene.
Mara groan as her phone rang again and she answered it. "What?" not even bothering to check who it was, right now her focus was getting Andy restrained and changed. "This is guard room 3? ... you told us to contact you if something odd happen to the new samp- er.. Hex. " there was a pause as Mara cursed, why now of all times?. "What happened?" they did not need this -now-. "She fell and seem to be crying. " he said quickly as Mara opened her mouth to ask why the heck would they call her for that before shutting her mouth. Malice ..remember there was a malice in that child. "Thank you. I will send Tri to look in on her" Tri was going to kill her... maybe, but he seemed ot have liked the girl enough not to try to argue going with her to the check up this morning. If any luck he can comfort her and head back to check on Ree and get ready for Andy. Hanging up she sent over a text to Trisuri before pocketing her phone again.
Tri blinked as his phone vibrated and he quickly checked it, glancing as Ree attempted to hide under his own wing. The motion would have made him seen more helpless but not while he was not in control of his aura. Yet there were at least two doctors checking him carefully. "...." he read the text quickly and bit back a sigh. Quietly he left the room and headed down the corridors until he reached Hexxis's room and knocked.
Hexxis was covering her face, sobbing loudly as a knock was heard. She was laying on the floor, curled up, the blood was starting to smear on the floor below her head, one of her hands was also covered in the sticky substance."...help..."she spoke weakly through sobs.
Tri frowned and look through the window. "..." he leaned back and put in the passcode pushing the chair out of the way of the door and going inside as the door closed behind him. "Hexxis" he said calmly moving the chair out of the way completely now before stopping by her. His silver gaze flickered to the blood on her hand and on the floor and then to her file. His eyes widen slightly then narrowed a bit "Hexxis... can you get up?"
Hexxis' sobs softened slightly as Tri came into the room, she was still curled up, practically shaking.
'what is his name' 'Leave him alone!’ 'HIS. NAME.' ‘.....tri..’
Hexxis unfolded slightly, rolling to try to stand."...t-tri.."she called out weakly, fear in her voice as she came to a stand and stood there sobbing, blood running down the left side of her face.
Tri frowned faintly and crouched down reaching out to brush her hair back. "Lets clean that up" he said quietly, but he was tense as he tried to stand again.
The blood was soaking into the eyepatch quickly as she quieted down from sobbing to sniffles. He brushed her hair back, and she gave a faint smile. She grabbed onto his collar before he could stand again, giving him a look of pleaing, reaching out with arms up and tears in her eyes, as though she just wanted to be held. Just like a normal child would.
Tri jerked his head back, hand going up and carefully tried to pry her fingers away from his collar. "Clean first" he said quietly but sternly as he got up. "There are some water bottles here " he said motioning to the table as he tried to figure out what they could use to clean and stop the blood, he will have to ask someone to bring something and bandages.
She fought back a twinge of annoyance as he pulled away. She stepped back and covered her face. Thinking for a moment. This wasn't working. Hexxis began to laugh, a wry smile forming on her face as a feeling of dread began to fill the room. She pulled at the eyepatch, removing it from her face and looked up at Tri with both eyes. She grinned as her body language appeared more independent. Hexxis brought her blood covered hand up to her face, dragging her tongue across her finger."...Hello, Tri."she spoke, her voice a bit more mature, more warm than the robotic one she usually spoke in. She tilted her head a little and she looked him over carefully, intrigued for barely a moment before her expression fell into boredom and into murderous contemplation.
Tri straighten, his heart pounding from the feeling that was invading the room making him want to almost respond in kind. He narrowed his own silver eyes warily. "Hello Ashral " he said moving past her to the table and pushing the waters bottle to the middle of the table before going to the bed and picking up the pillow case. "So you used to be a Shadow or a Banshee?" he said calmly as he started to take the covering off the pillow.
Ashral followed him with her eyes, a small spark of intrigue as he spoke her name. She let her eyes wander, taking in the scene. This was new. What poor unsuspecting place had taken in her host this time. He asked about her race, and she ignored him. He walked past her and she didn’t even bother to notice him move the water. Ashral was looking around, probably for a way out or even some kind of weapon. A look of disappointment begrudgingly made its home on her face as she couldn’t find much to work with. Had they truly been prepared for her inevitable arrival? They had wisely left the inhibitors from Spectrum on Hexxis, so it’s possible they might be thoroughly anticipating what destruction she could cause. There was also a chance that they still didn’t know everything about her, something she was almost too excited to test. Turning haphazardly toward him, her head rolling slightly in the motion as she smiled intensely at him, eyes burning wide as if she could easily strike him down with the blink of an eye if she had wanted to. “Tell me…” her grin grew a little wider, “would you rather have power… or love?” she asked suddenly. Her face became cold and calculating, closer to how Hexxis usually looked like, the smirk still lingering, however, as she waited for an answer to her one and only question. Tri had her full attention for the moment, though who knew how long that would last. The fact that she hadn’t attacked him outright surprised even herself. Though, she was starting to thinking Hexxis had a part in that restraint, but even she could only hold her back like this for so long before bloodlust took over completely. Much to Hexxis’ inner protests.
"That's an interesting question from a Malice. If you had truly found love or knew or it ... would you be a malice right now? Or did you desire power to protect love" he asked quietly, not trying to analyze that question to carefully of fear of what it might go to. He continued to move, dumping the pillow part off to the side as he pulled away the comforter and pulled at the sheets now while He- no ... Ashral talked. He didn't know the child hexxis more than a few hours but already the calculating look of a much older adult on a child's face was disturbing, something he tried not to show on his own. Dropping the sheets on the bed he moved cab to the pillow cover he first took off and moved by the table, opening a water bottle.
Ashral quirked an eyebrow, an even more interesting way to answer the question, it almost seemed like she had never heard anyone answer it that way. She stepped lightly across the room, standing next to the chair Hexxis had fallen from earlier, tracing a finger across the back rest as she fixated her vision on it. "It wasn't in regards to me." she retorted bluntly. She grasped the chair hard in a hint of anger, as though she had more to say in response to his words, but refrained. "You don't look the slightest bit concerned about me being here..." she titled her head, craning her neck just enough to keep an intense gaze on him. "...interesting.. almost makes me want to pick you apart.. see how you tick." he wild grin returned in full force, an unsettling chuckle escaping her lips as she appeared to be enjoying the lingering though of quite literally picking him apart.
Tri tilts is head slightly then nods. " it would be a lie to say I am not concern, but you are known. Ashral. Cursed Muramasa blade. Malice. what I do wonder is if you were the original maker or a user down the line of unfortunates " //and how Hexxis got her hand on it... experiment?// . "As for knowing how I work.. just like everyone else" he said dryly, knowing her mind went to the literal interpretation of that question and disapproved. "but I am curious about you. your motives.. you hate ...even your loves" he said quietly.
Information. Ashral grinned, her thoughts centralizing as her want for blood only kept increasing the longer she was there. "I will answer three questions. And only three questions. Choose them carefully. Word them carefully. And then it's my turn..." she spoke, amused, intrigued, like a lioness on the prowl. She wondered what kind of questions Tri would ask, his earlier comments provided much entertainment, surely this would prove even more fascinating. Excited for her turn in all this.
Tri blinked and went still, one hand reaching up for either the collar or the communication device in his ear but his hand never reached it as he stopped midway, the only sign of discomfort he showed as he wished for either Mara thoughts or views. Asking even on the rules of the questions would be considered a question..but he would not be able to know either if they were truthful.. but if he did not ask not he might not be able to again. He did not doubt there had to be a catch somewhere. Reaching out for the water bottle he poured a bit of it onto the cover of the pillow he took off before. "Answer this question truthfully and with detail. What reason in your past or present has influenced you into becoming a malice compared to lets say a mane? or some neutral spirit"
Straight to the point, her existence, or rather her re-existence. Ashral noted his want for truthful answers, "I give you my word that my answers will be absolutely true... and will not be simple answers.." she agreed, keeping it fair, then proceeded with the first question, "I've always been a pretty vengeful person. Abandoned as a child, no where to go, I survived off my anger and hate alone. The only chance I had at a normal life, I ruined. Somewhere along the way, corruption started in like an old friend that I couldn't let go off. At the time, I thought it was only me. But I brought that corruption upon someone very close to my heart. He was a sword maker. I saw the path he blazed, and I had to stop it. I chose a normal life over love with evil, but by then I had already done the damage to my own soul. I took the swords and volunteered with a facility in the war. I died on the battlefield with regret in my heart. I suppose that's why I'm back, caught in limbo searching for something that doesn't exist. The only thing I have left is this deep hatred for everything. The desire to snuff out every little thing in this miserable world." she gripped the chair harder, her face slipping into one of deep thought as though reflecting on a lifetime of mistakes. And like a switch, her face twisted back into a grin as she shifted her eyes to him once more. "Two left."
Tri said nothing watching her quietly as he mulled that over for a moment. ".... you seem to consider yourself honorable even if it is only to your own values. Which makes things interesting if you were to find what you were looking for, if that might make things seem brighter than they are now. What are you searching for?"
Ashral shifted her gaze away for a moment then returned it to Tri, "That's where the difficulty is, the reason I am stuck it seems. I am searching for the sword maker. Though, he's been dead far longer than I have." she spoke coldly, then her voice lowered slightly. "In the end, I was forced to kill him. My corruption against his. Life is cruel, isn't it." she explained blandly, as though she forgot to add emotion to her statements, leaving them buried deep within herself. "One left." she reminded softly, her grin returning but not as strong.
Tri nodded faintly as if he had guessed but had decided to use one of his questions to confirm it. "Ask your questions. I will hold my last one until after"
She shook her head, "Ask or nothing further."
Tri there was a faint glimmer of amusement in his eyes at that, but it faded quickly. " You are here. Considering the trauma of both of you lives and deaths.. it is possible that the sword maker may have or will return again as you have. Yet ...you are here and he or she may be in some meta or may not. Either way you are stuck here waiting. Even if you destroy the world it will just destroy any chance of seeing the sword maker again. But if more metas are born.. more likelihood the one you seek will return as well. But what will you do during that wait? rage, hate, taunt your host until the only thing left that gives you any type of meaning in this existence is the attention they give you good or bad? " he paused. "What would it take to gain your loyalty and stop you from hurting Hexxis either physical or mentally and those she loves and/or work with? "
Ashral blinked in confusion as she tried to process what he was saying. She was truly taken back by the question and what lead up to the final question, seeming to overlook that he had asked more than one question. She closed her eyes to think, but ultimately began to grin, erupting into laughter, becoming intense and wavering like the cackle of someone who'd completely lost their mind. "I think you underestimate how insane I really am. What you've seen of me so far is only a product of Hexxis' resistance, and her time is up. The corruption I've harbored in my soul for so long is apart of my very existence, it does not consider anything else than to destroy. Including Hexxis." she laughed hard again, grinning wildly, "...my turn.." her eyes went wide with bloodlust as she picked up the chair within her grasp with both hands and throwing it at Tri to distract him as she ran toward him, using the table to hop high enough into the air to come down on him, intent on tackle him to the ground, using the latched together chains of the wrist inhibitors to her advantage to attempt to choke him. All the while, her expression was crazed like a violent animal ready to kill their prey.
Tri never stopped watching her, so when she threw the chair he just caught it and turned with it following her movement until she jumped, pushing the chair at her body and throwing it back with her. "Pity. You seem stuck on corruption, not on the ability to heal it. Ask your questions then. " there was regret, because it would have made things a lot simpler.. more dangerous but simpler for all of them especially hexxis. Perhaps there might still be hope for a younger soul.. not one so old.
She hadn't expected him to defend so easily, possibly out of forgetting she still remained in a child's body, as she was pushed back and fell back to the ground hard. Wincing, she looked up at him, analyzing the situation further. Questions . Ashral had never intended to ask any questions, she had hoped to only spill his blood and get stronger from there, leaving nothing but death in the wake. She was still too weak.. Hexxis was still too weak. If only she had her sword, she could carve him up so quick, you'd wonder if anything had been there in the first place. She thought for a moment, maybe she could ask questions, though it was hard to fight back to urge to keep trying to fight him. "..help me find him." she spoke suddenly. Pausing, she shook her head, grunting in frustration. "Why do you care about this girl so much? She has no family, no home, she's barely a person. And yet you still want to protect her.. Why."
Tri jerked his head up slightly in surprise. //help me find him..?// did she mean the sword maker? Yes that would help things except that outside of reports this is the first encounter with a mane or malice he had ever had... yet it wouldn't be bad if he attempted to at least try to find any hint if that person was "living". Spectrum would be the only place who would have an idea and obviously they didn't if she was still searching. He still had until she started growing more. However, the actual question made him frown ".... You have to ask -that- question? you were abandoned and survived off your own hate and anger because of it. Yet you were still considered a person. " now there was a hint of bitterness in his voice. " I care because she is just a child.. she does not deserve to be thought of as a machine. Nor be put in this position where everyone must fear her or hurt her. I do have some idea of how it is like to be completely alone"
Ashral regretted even asking the question, what a waste, the only answer that could have been produced and one that shot straight through her chest like a hot knife of anger and jealousy. ”I have the feeling that you still think she can be saved. That she will ever have the option of a normal life. Try as hard as you might, even outside of my influence, she consumed my blade. She is the corruption now. Hexxis might feel like an innocent child, and maybe she is, but that won’t last. She may not deserve it, but it is her fate just like me. She is a weapon now, and there’s honestly nothing you can do to change what she will become without killing her. So in a way, I guess you can say I’m helping, though I don’t see it that way myself.” she explained, pushing herself up from the ground, coming to a stand and facing him fully. She thought for a moment, still feeling Hexxis protest to the interaction she was having, something of great interest to Ashral. She began to smile, ”I want to make a deal… I’ll work with you. I’ll do what you want of me, save for leaving.. I don’t have control over that. Yet.” her face was back to a deadly look as she continued, ”I’ll even keep my torment on Hexxis to a minimum. But I want something in return. Are you interested?”
Tri said nothing but his posture said that he was not so sure of that, of the corruption over taking someone without a fight. Yet he didn't voice it instead focusing on the more immediate proposition. "What do you propose?" he asked quietly, wings extending slightly from their cramp position against his back. Silver eyes regarded her.. them, closely trying to fathom what Ashrel might want in exchange for what she had laughed off so easily before. and her change of mind, that had caused that.*
So he was interested, good. Whether he took the offer or not, it was a start. She smirked and her eyes steadied on him. "With minimal torment to Hexxis, I will only gain so much power to separate on my own. She will be well into becoming an adult before I'll be able to have that kind of power. With that being said, when that time comes..." her voice lowered into something far more sinister, the voice of a true demonic shadow, "... I want your life..." she grinned wildly. "Your soul will belong to me from the moment the deal is made. And I will claim it as my first soul upon my full return to the living world. Until that time, I will not allow you to die. And Hexxis will remain safe. Even from me." she eyed him carefully, eagerly anticipating his reaction.
Tri extended his wings, with a look of outrage on his face, but he couldn't put a finger on to why he felt that way. Taking a breath he folded his wings back a bit more. "A deal with the devil?" he said quietly, feeling the expression fit this perfectly. "I will not give my soul to you. Not even for her life, that is something a bit more permanent than life.. as I can see from you" he said quietly and stopped as if he had a realization. "You fear me?" he frowned faintly.
Ashral laughed, it amused her how he reacted, it was almost priceless, a look she'd remember for a very long time. "I don't fear you.. Don't know why I would." she retorted, amusement never leaving her face. "So no soul to claim, but your life. What of that? It seems only fair. Spare Hexxis' life for someone else's. Or is her life not worth as much now that it's in that perspective?" her wry smile from ear-to-ear as she spoke. She was fascinated about how he valued life, and what he viewed as worth her complete loyalty. "Just let me kill you. As you can see by my presence, death isn't such a permanent thing after all. That's all I want. Is to be the one that ends your life when I have my own body. It's simple."
"Why then? if I don't make you afraid why do you even care to be the first to kill me?" he frowned his wings furling back against his back. "Considering the danger, it might be in your own interest to cooperate anyways. You are vulnerable at this stage...couldn't even fight off a chair." a faintly raised brow." As you said death might not be permanent... perhaps we would be saving hexxis and avoiding the danger you will be later"
Ashral was thoroughly entertained by his thought process, "Well let me make a few things clear. I want to kill you because I find you very interesting... I want the pleasure of being the one to kill you. Here's how it works. Either we make a deal, I cooperate with you, and then I get to kill you when I'm out. Or. I don't cooperate, I torment Hexxis, get out all that much sooner, and I kill you both. So there's not much of choice, I apologize." she didn't seem sorry at all about it, as she stood with a smile. "Vulnerable only because of these..." she held up her wrists to motion to the inhibitors. "All it takes is for one shortage, any slip up for them to deactivate. A second is all I need and I will have enough power to destroy everything in... wherever this place is. I'll kill you and everyone you love here.. all with Hexxis' tiny hands. Leave her in the wake of bloodshed alone." her voice was slipping back into a sinister one again. "So now, what will you choose? What danger will you avoid? Everyone else's.. or yours..?" she took a step forward, "What are you so afraid of?"
Tri clenched his hand into a fist and looked down at the table but not enough that he lost sight of Ashrel. He let his own aura go finally as he looked up, eyes glowing a bright silver. "No. I am sorry Hexxis but no. We have no deal Ashrel. Sorry but that was your third question "
Ashrel narrowed her eyes, "So be it." she grinned again, understanding what that meant. It was a shame they couldn't come to an agreement. Ashrel contested her own aura against his, as she smiled as she lunged at him again, breaking the chain as she moved and reeling back to punch him hard in the stomach. She seemed more than ecstatic for this, desperately wanting him to bleed for her, she desired it so deeply.
Tri side step into her punch and attempted to grasp her arm only to then turn and attempt to throw her at the bed. His face was grim as he attempted to move in the closer quarters, wishing for more space.
Ashral landed on the bed but was quickly on her feet again, jumping up fairly high from her position and kicking herself off the wall behind her to launch herself again, determined to knock him down or at least punch him in the jaw. Anything to get the blood she craved to flow from hid body.
Tri would have move out of the way had he the room, instead he was forced to try and catch her and throw her off to the side again. To many flashy moves to many indication of her next moves especially from a distance, allowing him to prepare. He was still reluctant to hurt her... even so if Ashrel had her own body he doubt he would have felt the same. "Hexxis. Go to sleep"
Ashral growled as she was thrown to the side again, rolling to a stand and ready to pounce again. She took a step forward to attack but his words shot through her chest and things began to get dark. "..wh-.. tri.." she tried to speak but closed her eyes and suddenly collapsed unconscious.
Tri watched her collapse and waited not even sure if it was a trick or not. After a few minutes passed he finally moved to her, his own face showing his pain as he knelt down and gently touch her face. ".... "pulling back and moving to the cover he had taken off earlier and saturated with water before returning and started to clean the blood.
Once he was done he picked her up and put her on the bed he had messed up. A light vibration in his pocket showed aother text, this time Mara asking him to come help her with Andy. He let out a soft shivering breath as he looked toward the bed again... then turning away. For now he didn't want to think about it... couldn't think about it, only react. His death meant more will die instead of allowing one girl to live.
Hexxis thrashed in her sleep a bit, as she experienced nightmares, reliving what happened in vivid detail played out in her head, reminding her of her mistake, and how she lost control. And how it got Tri hurt. She jolted awake suddenly, sitting up, "TRIII!" she shrieked then paused, realizing she wasn't dreaming anymore. Hesitating, she waited, eyes fixated on the door of her room, bated breath, part of her desperately hoping Tri would walk in, that he'd be okay, and he'd tell her it had all been a nightmare.
But no one came.
She winced as her abdomen was still slowly healing, it hurt so much as it did, a reminder of miscalculation of powers blinded by her anger. She could have prevented that, but she didn't. She was careless. And it cost them dearly.
A sharp pain rung out in her mind like a violent jab to purposefully cause her pain. She recoiled as she curled up on the bed, tucking her knees up and hugging them and rested her head on her knees, holding back sobs.
'You'll pay for what you did.'
Another wave of pain hit her as she cringed hard. She didn't even fight it anymore, feeling like she deserved every bit of it. Just like she rightfully deserved the dark bruise on her cheek. Tears filled her eyes as she squeezed her knees tighter.
'I will take everything you have. Any happiness you have will only be temporary. I will destroy it. And then I'll kill Tri for good. And next time, I'll make you do it.'
Hexxis sobbed quietly as she forced back the demand to scream out in anguish and anger. Another wave hit her, and she gripped her arm tightly, threatening to break the skin as she endured every bit of it. Eventually the pain was less and and less, whether it was because Ashral was getting bored or weak or if it was due to her own nerves becoming numb and dulling the pain, she was unsure. Eventually, after the pain stopped, she slumped to the side, laying motionlessly on the bed as her eyes lacked any sort of emotion, almost glassy as the only sign she still lived was the slight rise and fall or her chest and the occasional blinking. Hexxis would begin to refuse to eat or sleep. Her voice becoming nonexistent as she didn't seem to respond to anyone, just complied silently. Her movements lethargic as she seemed to have completely shut down on herself.

On the Edge
There are few papers on the desk, and a few in the trash can.
Hexxis was sitting on the bed, knees pulled up and arms wrapped around them as she leaned against the wall beside the bed itself. Her eyes were getting dark like she hadn't slept in a long while. She stared off at nothing, seemingly focused on the messy sheets. She had stopped writing, and refused to eat anything at all for three days now. She was humming very faintly to herself, barely audible as she remained almost perfectly still.
There was a soft knock at the door as Tri stood there with a tray of food. His heart was pounding at a much faster rhythm than it usually did and so far it has only happened when he had thought of going to visit Hexxis. He pushed himself to do so anyways, knowing he was afraid but she also didn't deserve to be alone as Mara had left her.
He was feeling much better now, only a red irritated scar where the injured had been. Which is why he was there now ...waiting.
Hexxis remained still, not even bothering to look up as she assumed it was just another guard checking up on her. She had never acknowledged them, only made it a point to sigh or breath a bit deeper so they could deduce she was still alive without having to touch her. For the most part, she had just been left alone. Something that was starting not to bother her anymore, just existing in the silence of the room.
Tri frowned faintly when she just breathed a little deeper and knocked again. Yes he could use his passcode ands go inside...considering he had not warned Mara that he was going to visit her and quite sure she would have forbidden him without at least having her or her team keep watch over the exchange...he had not been the only one frightened.
Hexxis narrowed her eyes slightly as the knock happened again. Persistence. She very slowly slid her eyes to the window in the door, her heart sank hard into her stomach as she saw Tri stand outside the door. A glimmer of surprise showed through on her face as it waned into pain, averting her gaze then burying her face into her knees.
...of course. He said nothing and finally type in his passcode to access the room. Stepping inside he went to place the tray down on the desk as the door closed behind him with a snap. "Hello Hexxis...."he said quietly, not moving to her just standing by the desk watching her.Trying to see how much distress he was putting on her being here.
She heard him come in as she tensed up slightly. She hadn't heard from Ashral in her mind for a while, but she was scared that she'd surface. Waiting, hoping she heard no voice in her head. Silence. It was a relief, but all that was left was her guilt. Tri greeted her and she flinched. A took a few moments, but then Hexxis lifted her head slowly, her vision barely making it over her knees as she stared at the bed again with guilty eyes. "..i'm sorry.." she spoke so frail it was barely audible.
Tri did not answer right away, he just watched her quietly for a few more seconds. "That was the Malice not you" he said quietly.
Her eyebrows furrows lightly as she seemed to harbor a deep regret for what happened. "..miscalculation.." she said one word then was quiet for a few moments as she sniffled a little bit, it wasn't showing on her face but she was fighting back hard from crying. "...I was angry... it was my fault..."
Tri looked faintly confused" Miscalculation?" he repeated in an attempt to get her to explain more. If he did not understand then he would not know why she was as she was.
She took a deeper but shakey breath. "I can terminate life without bloodshed. I know what the blood does. It wakes her up... I.. got mad.. and used too much force... used the wrong power.... then.." her eyes were tearing up. "...then you were dying..." she spoke the last part softly, forcing it from her lips as her voice threatened to give out.
"The fault of the Malice... not you. It is a risk to see blood on the battlefield...especially in a hospital. But did not miscalculate, everything would have turned out well had you not the malice... but because you do you have an added handicap...you can't predict everything just hope for the best " he said quietly moving to sit down by her if she would let him. Remembering vaguely seeing Hexxis back to normal when his powers had given out. He did not remember much after that
She didn't protest in him sitting down next to her as she kept her eyes on the bed. "...I.. I made it happen.. I wanted him to be hurt so badly. I cursed him and he..." her voice trailed off and she swallowed hard. "Because of Ashral... you're fate.. you died." she lift her head to look at him, tears beginning to stream down her face. "She's mad about what I did... She wouldn't leave me alone..." she looked away again, "..Ashral is just going to hurt you again.."
Tri shifted his wings in discomfort. " I ...don't understand " he said looking away and reaching out to pick up the napkin that was brought along with the tray before holding it out to her. He wanted to pull her to him as if he would have Ree when he was younger. Yet he didn't dare, not ... not...
"What happened to make her angry at you?" he asked again reaching out past her hands and attempting to lightly dry her tears instead
She hesitated a bit as she thought about what to say... No.. he wouldn't understand unless she showed him. She leaned forward to move her legs underneath herself, pushing herself onto her knees as she lift her shirt to show him the wound she had like his. It was mostly healed, unlike the bruise on her face that she refused to heal. "I changed the outcome.." she had looking at him but then averted her eyes again, dodging the look on his face. She didn't want to give Ashral that satisfaction in case she was actually still awake, though she doubted it with how quiet it had been in her mind. "She's angry that you lived because of me... and that she shares this pain now.." she tried her best to explain it as she remained still, scared of how he might react.
Tri pulled his hand away when she moved and crumpled the napkin in his hand. Turning his gaze form her eyes he forced himself to look at her stomach, forcing himself because last time he looked away Hexxis changed into Ashrel..but there was not blood here not reason for the change. As he looked at the similar would to his own, he lifted his hand to touch the area that was still healing on his own abdomen. He looked ...shocked as he looked back up at her but she was already glancing away. "Mara said you had gain a new power, Healing... but it isn't healing... you take on the wound or part of it?... you both do?" it looked like he had some passing familiarity with at least one type of healing. "You took on my wound?" he sounded shocked at the implications... the reason he survived... because he shouldn't have survived no matter how much said it was a miracle in itself.
Hexxis kept her eyes fixated away as she spoke, "I.. cursed myself." she had a twinge of pain in her eyes for only a brief moment, "I changed my own fate so I could keep you alive. I was given that power... to take on the wound myself.." she narrowed her eyes. "We both do." She then put her shirt back down and forced her gaze back to Tri, sadness flickering through to the surface. "I took part of your wound... that made Ashral very angry... you were supposed to die... and it was all my fault." She paused, fighting back tears but failing this time.
Tri stared at her, silver eyes were wide as he attempted to find a way to respond to her before he picked her up instead and put her in his lap, hugging her gently as he pulled his wings forward around her. "I am sorry.... " he held her lightly, if she wanted to escape he would let her go. "I am thankful... but I am also sorry I can not take on Ashral's offer. If I did I know she would stop harming me and you... but I can't. I Am just sorry you hurt yourself trying to keep me alive....but why did you? Ashral would have gain a large step in gaining a body ..eventually leaving you"
Hexxis didn't even fight him from picking her up, hesitating for only a second before moving her arms to hug him back, resting her head on his chest. "It's okay..." she whispered. 'My life is meant to be expendable..' she thought, but dared not say. "I am happy you didn't take her offer. I know she hurts me more, but that is alright." she paused as he asked her why. Her chest hurt a lot, she was sure the pain would wake her, but it didn't. Hexxis took a deep breath and moved a hand away to dig into her pocket. She fished out a folded up piece of paper and handed it to him, averting her eyes in embarrassment. She had kept it from him for so long, unable to say anything out of fear of what he would say. She swallowed hard as she anticipated his response.
Tri said nothing but lowered his head slightly, holding her closely. It was wrong.... so very wrong for her to be hurting for something that someone gave her as her item. The crinkle of paper made him lift his head, watching her take something out of a pocket. "hm?" he said softly, pulling one hand away from her to take it then puts his arms around her again as he opened the note behind her back. Read it once...he re-read it again and again before finally folding it. "Are you sure?" he asked softly, his heart beating faster...which she might be able to hear even if his voice or expression didn't change much.
Hexxis took a steady breath, trying to calm her nerves. She looked up at him and nodded a slowly. She could feel his heart beating faster which in turn made hers quicken in pace, she was almost shaking she was so nervous about it. She had wanted to tell him just before they had been given their mission to the hospital, but had decided to wait until afterwards. And now here she was. Her eyes locked were locked on his.
"I accept, then " he said quietly letting go of her as he handed her the piece of paper back. "I will tell Mara once I go back to her later. I ... " he paused. "I have a son... he would be your brother then. " Not even sure what he was doing...He had been sad and faintly relieved that Ree had grown quickly. Because if he died, then Ree wouldn't be left vulnerable and alone. Now he was doing it again.... or maybe it was different because there was a higher likelihood they would both die soon... or to each other. He smiled and hugged her tightly for a few seconds before finally letting go.
Hexxis took a moment to actually process that he had accepted her request to take his last name and effectively become his daughter. Her heart fluttering so much she thought it would escape her ribcage at this rate. She listened to him explain what would now be a sibling, one she hadn't met yet or exactly heard of until this moment. She thought it over and nodded in understanding and that she seemed to like the idea. She was more than anything happy to have a family, and that she could be considered Tri's family, and even more so, his daughter. She hugged him tightly back and as he let her go she looked up him and smiled. Her eyes were still tired and a little lacking, but it obvious she was genuinely happy and it was showing on her face.
