.:: 13th DIVISION GRAND SEATING TOURNAMENT ::.

The so promised and expected seating tournament is finally here!!! Rejoice everyone!!!

IMPORTANT

At the bottom of this post - not the thread, duh?! - you'll see an Index. Here's a quick explanation of everything in there, and what you should read carefully in order to be able to participate in the tournament.

~ General Rules ~

This are the rules that everyone should follow at all times. You must become familiarized with them. Disobeying the rules can get you immediately disqualified from the tournament - with or without getting a seat.
So read it, so this can be avoided.

Also, there's a rough explanation of how the tournament will work in there.

~ Current Round Rules ~

Each round of the tournament will have special rules in effect. Be sure to always read this every time a new round starts, in order to know what those rules are.

~ Tournament Grid ~

This displays the tournament's grid. Upcoming matches and the names of the RPCs that have advanced to the next round can be found here.

~ Ranking Board ~

The current ranking for the tournament. This will literally translate into seats.

~ FAQ ~

The answer to the most Frequently Asked Questions can be found here. Please read this before sending me any PM asking me something.

~ Archives ~

Old Round rules will be moved to this post over time, for prior consultation.

~ Battle Archive ~

All the previous Battles can be found here, along with hyperlinks to the actual threads where the battles took place.

.:: General Rules ::.

~ Tournament Round Rules ~

Each round of the tournament will have a different set of rules. For example, the number of posts may change, some restrictions might be placed over the attacks you'll be able to use, the judging procedure may vary, etc.

The specific rules for the current round are described in the next post.

The first stage of the tournament (round 0) is the registration.
After the registration round is over, no one else will be able to enter the tournament!

~ Judging ~

For each round I'll have several outside RPers judging your matches. Matches will always be judged by RPing skills and not by the power of the actual RPCs. This means that you may end up losing your match IC, but still come out victorious if your RP was better than your opponent's.

There will be two judges - RPers from outside the Squad - for each match. They will be the ones deciding the winner of the match, in most of the cases. But occasionally it might not be so. I will act as a judge as well in certain occasions.

Those circumstances are:

-- In case each Judge decides in favor of a different RPer, I will be the one deciding the winner.

-- In case one of the Judges takes too long to announce his/her decision, I will act as the second Judge. - All matches will still have at least two Judges.

-- In case the Judges decision goes totally against what my beliefs are, I will act as sole Judge and my decision will overthrow the Judges'. The reason for this is explained in detail below.

The reason why I'm bringing outside RPers to judge your matches, is because I want the ruling to be as impartial as it can be. Also, I want this decision to be made on grounds of RPing skills mostly. But since this is a seating tournament - and not a regular one - and the outcomes of these matches will decide your seats, I will always have a final saying over each match.
This is because I'm your Captain, and a seat cannot be established solely on the grounds of RP alone. There are several other factors to consider. But since you've all been active and respectful, I believe that my intervention won't be necessary. The really factor I would like you to be judged on, is RPing skills and literacy.

I want to assure you all, that I'll be impartial in my decisions. I won't use this to favor a person over another. You all know me and are aware that I would never do that. But I will also not commit the fault of granting a higher seat to an inactive member - for example - just because his/her RP was slightly better than the other person's. That is why this rule exist.

~ Code of conduct ~

Though each round will have a different set of additional rules, there are some that are common to the entire tournament.

-- Respect the Gaia TOS at all times. Remember that this is PG-13.

-- Respect your opponent at all times. Insulting him/her IC is fine, if your RPC acts that way, but doing so OOC will get you disqualified. Also, don't overdo it, even IC.

-- Don't SPAM the matches with OOC. A little bit here and there is fine, if you need to discuss something or want to ask something. Just don't overuse it.

-- No double posting, even if it's OOC. If you want to say something OOC, then simply edit your previous post.

-- No one is allowed to post anything (not even OOC) in someone else's match, except for the RPers in the match, the Judges, and myself.

-- No Godmoding is allowed.

-- No autohitting is allowed.

-- No puppeteering is allowed.

-- You're not allowed to use any powers or abbilities gained after the match has started. Also, you're not allowed to use any powers or abbilities that have been banned for the duration of the current round.

-- Literacy is required. You'll be judged by your literacy. An excess of 1337 or emotes can simply get you disqualified.

-- No arguing the judges decision. Their decision, and mine, is final. Arguing will get you disqualified and without a seat.

~ Disqualifications ~

Several things can happens if you disobey the rules.

Minor faults will only get you a warning. A second warning will always get you a disqualification.

Disqualifying means that you'll lose the current match, thus the tournament will end for you at that moment, and you'll get your ranking and the seat that you would get, if otherwise you normally had just lost the match.

Some serious offenses however, can get you immediately disqualified from the tournament, without earning a seat. In order for this to have happen, you've probably also went against the Guild rules, meaning that you can even get banned from it.

On the list of rules above, serious offenses are in bold letters (these will get you immediately disqualified) and lesser ones are not.

~ Rankings and Seats ~

According to your rank in the Tournament, you'll get a seat. The winner of this tournament will ultimately reach 3rd seat, seeing as the Vice-Captain's position is a different subject altogether. - VC's are crew members, and I cannot base the decision of making one of you a member of the crew on you winning a tournament.

The actual seats available will depend on the number of people that register for the tournament.But I'll give an example here:

If 6 people register, there will be 6 seats available, ranging from 8 to 3. Meaning that the last person in the tournament will have rank 6 and the winner rank 1. They would have the following seats:

Rank 1 [Winner] => 3rd Seat
Rank 2 => 4th Seat
Rank 3 => 5th Seat
Rank 4 => 6th Seat
Rank 5 => 7th Seat
Rank 6 [Last Place]=> 8th Seat

For now, this is merely an example.

The RPer who ends up in 4th place in this Tournament, will go down to the Honor Tournament and fight for Rank #4 or #5 with the highest Ranked RPer in there. In the Honor Tournament RPers will compete for Ranks ranging from #4 to #10.

The matches for each Tournament throughout Rounds 2 to 4 (the Final Round) are already displayed on the Tournament Grid.

.:: FAQ ::.

Please read this FAQ before sending me any questions. But don't be afraid to do so, if you still have any doubts whatsoever. Better safe than sorrow.

Q: I have more than one match thread on the Squad forum. In which one should I post first? Should I post in both?

A:
Yes. In the event of having several Matches posted in the Squad Forum, you're suppose to participate in all of them simultaneously (like in Round 1 for example). Keep in mind that the tournament is treated as an outside RP, not affecting the normal timeline of your RPC. So while the character is not (obviously) participating in several matches at the same time - you, the RPer, are.

Q: I believe that my opponent has just broken a rule that implies his/her immediate disqualification. What should I do?

A:
You don't have to do nothing. You should concern yourself with your RP only. Only at the end of the match will the judges disqualify beforehand any RPer who (for example) has Godmoded or used a forbidden kidou or similar ability, etc.
It is, however, acceptable and somewhat advised that you inform me via PM of any such events.

Q: I have a question that is not in this FAQ. What should I do?

A:
Send it to me via PM, silly!
If you have any question concerning this tournament, feel free to direct it to me via PM. If a question keeps popping up, I'll post it here - don't worry, I won't mention any names - and turn this thread into a FAQ, so I don't have to keep repeating the same answers.

:: Round 0 -- Registration ::

Since some RPers have been inactive, or some even may not want to take part of the tournament (I can't see why, since it's a win-win situation, but I'm taking all possibilities into account), and I don't want to set up matches and then have people not showing up, I will require that EVERYONE who wants to take part on the tournament makes a registration.

If you haven't registered for the tournament before the round 0 ends, you won't be able to do so afterward.

~ Process of Registering ~

In order to register you RPC for the tournament, all you have to do is post in this thread, saying that you want to participate. I know you all, so no registration form is required (you don't need to put your user, RPC name, w/e). All you have to do is write something saying that you're in. It's that simple!

I'm putting this here so that there are no misinterpretations. Inactive members will receive a warning PM, so they can know of this tournament.

Also, Hibikia Kita - the current 3rd seat, prior to me becoming Captain of this Squad - will have to register as well.

You (Hibiki) won't lose your seat if you register, but will still have to fight for it in the final rounds. If however, you do not register, you will automatically be stripped of it.

~ Deciding Matches ~

The order in which you register will help decide your matches. The pairing of opponents will be random - and explained at a later time - and will be done in this thread as well so everyone can see it.

Below there is a countdown for the registration's end. The counter may change. For example, someone might ask me to do it, if he/she knows that will need more time before the Tournament can start, or if everyone who has not registered tells me (via PM) that he/she will not participate.

~ Round 1 Timer ~

==> 0 days <==

Quote:

.:: Current Round Rules ::.

:: Round 1 -- Group Phase ::

Everyone - except Hibiki - has been assigned to a group. As previously stated Hibiki will only start to compete from the 2nd Round due to not being unseated. All Shinigamis in a Group will fight against each other in single one-on-one matches, and all matches will occur simultaneously IRL. Since there are 3 Shinigamis in each Group, everyone will have 2 matches and each group will have a total of 3 matches - this means that for the first Round there will be at least a grand total of 9 matches.

~ Qualification ~

Everyone will advance to the second Round, the difference is that their performance in the first Round will decide their ranking for the next Round.

Each Group will have a single Winner, so 3 participants will be chosen in this Round to enter an elimination Tournament - 4 people, including Hibiki - in the next one. These 4 participants will then fight for Seats 3rd to 6th. -- The Elite Tournament

Everyone else who's not a leader in his/her Group, will compete in the next Rounds for Seats 7th to 12th. -- The Honor Tournament

~ Deciding a Group Winner ~

If someone wins two matches he/she will be automatically qualified as the Group Winner, seeing as it's impossible for anyone else in the same Group to have won the same number of matches.

The other only possible outcome is that everyone wins one match but loses the other, resulting in a tie among everyone in that group. In case of such an event, there will be an extra match between the three. The Judges will not only take into consideration that match in their ruling, but all the previous ones as well.

~ Rules for the Matches ~

These Rules will also be displayed in the first post of each match thread.

Aside from all the standard Rules described above, these are the extra ones:

-- Each RPer will make 5 posts, not counting the intro post.

-- Each post (not OOCs) must have at least 3 lines (in size 12).

-- NO Shikai is allowed.

-- Only Kidous up to level 10 can be used.

-- NO Shumpo is allowed.

-- Not posting for more than 3 consecutive days - after making the intro post - results in immediate loss of the match. - Unless the RPer has warned (accurately and in advance) that he/she will be unable to post for a certain period of time, in which case he/she will be granted that same period to be inactive (not counting for the 3 days limit).

-- Not posting for more than 7 consecutive days prior to making the intro post results in immediate loss of the match. - Exceptions do apply in the same manner as stated in the above point.

-- Failure to comply to any of the above rules, results in immediate loss of the match.

-- There is a thread for each match being held, located in the 13th Squad Forum --
