-- Each RPer will make 5 posts, not counting the intro post.
-- Each post (not OOCs) must have at least 3 lines (in size 12).
-- NO Shikai is allowed.
-- Only Kidous up to level 10 can be used.
-- NO Shumpo is allowed.
-- Not posting for more than 3 consecutive days - after making the intro post - results in immediate loss of the match. - Unless the RPer has warned (accurately and in advance) that he/she will be unable to post for a certain period of time, in which case he/she will be granted that same period to be inactive (not counting for the 3 days limit).
-- Not posting for more than 7 consecutive days prior to making the intro post results in immediate loss of the match. - Exceptions do apply in the same manner as stated in the above point. The area is a large leveled plain. There are some patches of dirt and rocks, but most of it is a grassy field. It's a sunny day, with mild temperature and wind. This is a remote and isolated field, so no other "living" being can be seen for miles.

[Intro]
Mashiro walked onto the suposed battle area where he was to fight an old friend of his, Shinzou. The two had been friends since they both started in the 13th Squad. Though they had a rocky start, slightly remembering his little outbreak back at the hotsprings in the World of the Living. Anyway, this was yet another test of their friendship. Mashiro was anchous to see Shinzou again, since the last time he saw them was back at the Squad Barracks during the liberation. In any case, Mashiro wanted to make sure he was ready for the battle. Finding a rock, wide enough to sit on, Mashiro sat down. He set his zanpaku-tou down next to him. Just resently he had learned his Shikai, but the rules of the battle detured him from using it. Perhaps it was a good thing, just learning how to release it was a big step. But learning how to use it properly was another thing. Mashiro knew that he had to have more battle experiance before he could actually rely on it in battle. This battle, this tournement, was just the practice he needed. Aside from that, Mashiro had to stay focused. In order to do that he began to breathe deeply and and closed his eyes. The wind picked up and the hair on Mashiro's neck stood. Usually his neck would be protected by the scarf that he had always worn, but it was distroyed during a fight with the Captain, but now he did not care. He had thought alot of what Shinzou had said to him back at the springs, and he was right. "Time for me to move on.." his voice was taken away by the wind as someone approached. " Shinzou...."

[Intro]
Shinzou smiled as he walked slowly towards Mashiro's spot on the rock. As he walked past he pulled back on the hilt of his Zanpakutou, swinging his scabbard forward in the process, and striking Mashiro's where it sat leaning against the rock. As it fell he caught it on his foot mid stride and launched it right to where Mashiro's hands were. "You might want to keep an eye on that. You don't want me cutting up that pretty little neck of yours." He said as he flashed a smile at his squad mate, obviously referencing the fact that he had finally let go of that odd accessory, and continued walking. He was happy that his friend had gotten over whatever insecurities that he felt forced him to wear that scarf, but was now rather disappointed that he wouldn't get to give it a good yank during battle. About fifteen feet past Mashiro he stopped and pivoted on the ball of his foot, spinning to face his opponent. "Well, what do you say we get this thing going? I've never been one for muddling around in formalities when a fight draws near." Shinzou said as placed his hand firmly on the hilt of his Zanpakutou and in one fluid, graceful, motion drew it and entered a fighting stance. His sword was held horizontally at chest height, it's razor sharp blade facing upwards and it's tip pointed right at Mashiro's chest, glinting in the sun as it's wielder dropped fully into his stance. 'Let's smother him.' Came a voice, rattling a rasping as if laced with sand, echoing in the back of Shinzou's mind. The smile slowly faded from Shinzou's face as he readied for battle.

Hmph Mashiro said with a huff of air as he moved his right leg from under him to deflect Shinzou's blow. Luckly for him, Shinzou did not put alot of strength in the strink. With one swift kick he deflected the blade while simutaniously putting all of his weight on his left hand to lift himself up. As he looked Shinzou spoke. The young shinigami seemed to be mocking at him for the scarf that he so cherished since becoming part of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. Even so, Mashiro cared little. Just like all those before him, he would have to live with his deformities. " You are in a good mood today, Shinzou." The blonde shinigami said throwing back at his friend. While speaking Mashiro had pushed Shinzou over his head with his legs. Now his squad mate was 15 feet away from him, giving both of them an ok coution for combat. " So I've heard, Shinzou. Well, you never one for formalities in any case, I guess that is why we are opposites. Anyway, lets just get this fight over with. Remember, no Shikai." Mashiro said, seeing that Shinzou was somewhat pre-ocupied with something or someone. Drawing his blade, Mashiro pointed it right at Shinzou. Then Mashiro brought the blade to his side, standing it vertically, and ran at Shinzou. As he approached the shinigami he swung his blade at a horizantle angle." How is this for formalities, Shinzou?"

(Not sure what you were doing with the first part, since Shinzou was never aiming at Mashiro, just flipping Mashiro's Zanpakutou to him, so...)
Shinzou smiled slightly, "I believe you have mistaken joking for something more serious. And... that's just the way I like them." He said as he seemed to move without having to think about it. His sixth sense allowed him to see, or rather predict through extreme interpretations of regular sense, where his opponents next move was going to be right before they made it. This combined with Shinzou's speed allowed him a dodging ability like no other. This time he heard a sound, a rushing, coming from his right side just before Mashiro began to swing. He stepped ever so slightly to the side and blocked the sword away with a simple downward motion. He then swung his leg around and attempted to kick Mashiro's out from under him. At this close of a range it would allow him to easily pound out a finishing blow, but since he didn't expect Mashiro to be knocked down so easily, he followed with another slash moving upwards about chest height. Shinzou knew that Mashiro was strong, and quick witted, so he put some ground between them and readied another attack, "Hado Number One: Thrust!" He shouted, aiming to send Mahiro flying backwards. He hoped that all he had done just now would allow this to occur at the very least. He figured that three quickly place attacks followed by this would allow him get a hit with at least one. Perhaps the previous attacks and the thought that he had been insulted would coax Mashiro into closing ground and getting close enough for the Hado spell to actually do some real damage, instead of just knock him back, maybe cause some bruises from the forces involved.
(Sorry for making you wait. I kinda fell a sleep for 3 or 4 hours in the middle of making this, lol. This is going to be so hard without more to work with.)

"God.." Mashiro said as if he was irritaited. In fact, he was after being thrown around like a piñata. First Shinzou tried to trip him, which was sucessfully exicuted. Mashiro fell on his side, catching his fall with his hand. Spinning quickly, Mashiro was able to get back up on his feet, and just in time to catch a glimphs of the shinigami's new attack. Trying to parry the sealed zanpakutou, Mashiro lifted his blade but only caught air as Shinzou's blade met his chin. With a clean slice, Shinzou and sucessfully cut his chin, but no where near as bad as what Mashiro thought at first. Luckly for him, he jerked his head just in time. Then, once again Shinzou struck again with a kidou. Flying backwards, Mashiro fell flat on his butt and was now assesing the situation. While Shinzou waited on his move, Mashiro thought for a moment. Ok, he is fast as well as a Houdini, or at least just fast for me. Hmm... If I can distract him, just for a moment, I might, just might be able to land a hit. Even if it isn't much, it will keep him on edge... Then again... Mashiro wiped his chin and stood straight up. " Well, Shinzou to be honest with you: I can't really tell what is a joke or if you really mean it. I have to wonder though... how is it that you knew exactly what I was going to do when I was going to do it? I mean are you some type of Houdini?". Though Mashiro was, too, joking around but it was a perfect distraction as he planned another course of action. Unfortunatly Mashiro did not have much at his disposal. The rules would not allow him to use his zanpaku-tou, or rather the release. His kidou, although profound, was still a match for this shinigami. Other than basic fighting skills that he learned at the Academy, Mashiro had nothing going for him. This means that he would just have to pull a rabbit out of his hat... and perhaps literatly.
(( Sorry I must have mistaken it as if you where actually attacking me. And its ok, take the time you need. I prop. won't be on much on the weekend. In any case take your time))

Shinzou smiled, "Yeah, something like that." He said as he looked Mashiro over. The Shinigami had just spent a lot of energy dragging himself up of the ground consecutive times. Shinzou did know from experience how the brain worked in such situations. It was a small opening, but for at least a moment Mashiro's muscles would be sore form performing the same action in fast succession. Perhaps that, along with the fact that there was now a good bit a room between them, would give him time to perform his next Kidou without being disrupted. "Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat! Bakudou Number Nine: Strike!" Shinzou shouted as he extended his hand towards Mashiro. If this worked, Mashiro would be paralyzed completely and totally unable to dodge Shinzou's next attack. "Hadou Number Four: White Lightening." He said calmly this time as a bolt of lightning rushed towards Mashiro. "Go get him, make sure he's dead." Came that voice again. Shinzou shook his head as if to clear out some cobwebs and then fixed his gaze back on Mashiro. He couldn't let himself be drawn into a bad situation, he had to maintain space between himself and Mashiro until Mashiro attacked. He couldn't match Mashiro as a swordsman for an entire fight. Short spurts maybe, but not for an entire fight. Eventually even Shinzou's abilities would give him too much to process and he would have to rely on his own abilities for a moment. As long as he was in a position of guerrilla style fighting. Attacking and then pulling out, etc, then he would be fine. But if he got locked in an all out sword battle he would get beat in the end.

BOOM The Byakurai hit Mashiro. There was a slight moment of silence as the smoke ball fanned out. An eerie feeling fell over what had just happened. Then something happened, that would even shock Shinzou. A large white beam flew from the heart of the smoke and went right at Shinzou. As the smoke cleared there stood Mashiro, dirt and pissed. " I was wishing that we could have just been easy on one another, but I was stupid for thinking that.... Oh look, you messed up my uniform. You know that I have places to go and people to see. What would my other friends think if they saw how bad I am getting my butt kicked by holding back... oh well." As Mashiro spoke a flash back, so to speak went through his mind. It was almost as if he was having an outerbody experiance... As Shinzou sent the first kidou, Bakudou #9, Geki, Mashiro already knew what to do. All he had to do was wait for the Byakurai to almost hit him before he made his move. As the bolt of white came to him, Mashiro raised his Spiritual Pressure. This would cause a large coution around him as it impacted. Granted Mashiro did not anticipait that the Byakurai would set off the the worlds larges fireworks show, but it saved him from alot of damage. Even though it took alot of reishi to hold off the Black Haired Shinigami's attack, he would have enough yet to continue this fight. This time no holding back.... Back to the present Mashiro had made another move agaisnt Shinzou. Having the Byakurai perfectly distract the shinigami for his suposed attack. With his zanpaku-tou, Mashiro ran to a dirt patch that was off to the right side of him. While he ran he drug his zanpaku-tou on the dirt, creating a huge dust cloud arond the area. " Come and get me, Shinzou." Mashiro dared as he waited for the right time to make his attack

"If your not here to fight you might as well leave Mashiro. This is a tournament to find out exactly who is better than who. Who uses better tactics, who uses their surroundings to their advantage." Shinzou said as he raised his Zanpakutou and watched carefully. He knew that Mashiro was good, but neither of them had really amped it up yet. As Mashiro began to move Shinzou launched an attack of his own. He wound up with his sword and then swung with all his might at Mashiro. A wave of rich red reiatsu sped towards Mashiro, aiming to cut him off in his path. Even if he could stop the White Lightning with a reiatsu barrier it wouldn't be strong enough to stop a strike like this. The sickle of reiatsu spun as it approached, making it even harder to tell exactly where it would be when it reached Mashiro. It seemed strange that Mashiro would try to obscure Shinzou's vision. Perhaps he hadn't figured out Shinzou's special abilities earlier. The dust would only help Shinzou thanks to his sixth sense. Shinzou now sat back and waited for Mashiro's attack to come, ignoring the voice in the back of his head that urged him to chase after his opponent.
(Sorry, would have done more here, but I kind of got writer's block.)

Mashiro was right about Shinzou. He knew that he would try to cut Mashiro off in some way. The wave of reiatsu was enough to stop most people in a perfect cut off, but not Mashiro. Somehow Mashiro knew that Shinzou would try to spin the wave, making it almost impossible to block with a Byakurai. However, Shinzou had underestimaited Mashiro and his ablitly to use kidou. " Bakudou #4, Hainawa!" The yellow rope crawled towar the wave of reiatsu and made contact with it. Instantly the rope wrapped itself around the wave and caused a small explosion. Mashir safely jumped over it and turned to Shinzou, who seemed to be layed back... big mistake. "Byakurai" Mashiro yelled. Usually most shinigami would expect one small bolt of lightning to come racing to them, and easily dodge. However, Mashiro had released not one, not two, but three bolts. This would keep Shinzou on edge as he ran closer to the Dark Haired shinigami with his blade. Mashiro swiped at Shinzou, who was dealing with the Byakurai as well, in a horizantle angle. Then he brought the blade down, and hard. Waiting for the baldes to connect in an almost deadlock, Mashiro spoke. " Why do we keep underestimaiting one another? I think it is pointless to keep this going for much longer, don't you? I mean we have spent all our time with a game of cat and mouse, but now we have little energy to keep that up for much longer. Why not we finish this fight the honorable way? Sword to Sword." Mashiro offered as he waited for Shinzou to make his move. He knew that they could not keep this up for much longer. Now was the time to finish in a bang, and not with kidou...
(( Its ok, it happens to the best of us ^_^.))

(I wasn't aware that you could make crawling rope explode, nor was I aware that it was strong enough to stop a sickle of reiatsu. I'll have to keep that in mind for later.)
Shinzou allowed the dust to roll in around him, closing his eyes and waiting for Mashiro's attack. He heard was going to be coming his way before it even happened thanks to his sixth sense. The cracks of several blots of lightning echoed through his mind. He quickly began to move but wasn't quite fast enough to get out of the way of all three. As he dove one of the bolts streaked just over his right leg, singing and burning the cloth as well as his leg to an extent. By the time he had gotten up the dust had begun to settle and he could hear Mashiro speaking. "If that's what you want, then fine." He said, noticing Mashiro's voice becoming louder, he was already moving towards Shinzou. This surprised him(Shinzou) because Mashiro was playing right into his hands by coming in close instead of staying outside and launching those special Kidou of his. Shinzou thought about this for a moment and came to only one conclusion, that Mashiro was dangerously close to running out of reiatsu. There was no other reason for him to feel the necessity to take this fight out of his element, it appeared as if breaking the Bakudo and stopping the White Lightning had taken more out of Mashiro than Shinzou thought. He didn't need his sixth sense to stop Mashiro, he could see him coming as he rolled to his feet. The Shinigami used this rolling motion to bring his sword down on top of Mashiro's, blocking it to the left side of his body in a continuous move. At the same time he followed it with an elbow, simply continuing the same motion, aimed at splitting the small cut on Mashiro's chin wide open. He didn't stop at this, no, he was aiming at making Mashiro wish that he had stayed away. Shinzou pushed off his left foot, swinging his Zanpakutou at a shallow upwards angle that would take it directly across Mashiro's chest. This moved served two purposes. Not only was he launching an attack that could possibly finish his opponent, he was also gaining the range that his sixth sense needed to work at it's most effective. The motion carried Shinzou about five feet away from his opponent and he quickly reset into the stance he had taken at the beginning of the fight.

((No, you can't make the crawling rope explode, I don;t think. However, if you can make it contact with something like another kidou, or the sickle of reiatsu then it will explode. It would be the same as if I sent a Byakurai, but since it is a straight bolt it was no help. ))
Mashiro kept up with Shinzou's new set of attacks. First, as Mashiro expected, he(Shinzou) blocked his strikes and made his move. Mashiro released his right hand from his zanpaku-tou and put it infront of his face. This was not only to block Shinzou's elbow, but also to give Shinzou another supprize. "Byakurai!" the bolt went passed Shinzou without even a scratch done to him. Then Mashiro had to block his attack to his tourso, otherwise he was a gonner. Yet he could not move fast enough to block the strike and was cut, alothough minor, was enough to make him gasp. Mashiro flew backwards after the hit and was now breathing heavily as he kneeled on the ground. Sweat was beading on his face as he looked at Shinzou, who was now taking position and waiting on Mashiro. With a moan he got to his feet and held onto his chest as he did so. " Man, Shinzou... gah... you really know how to but a hurting on people," Mashiro paused as he tried to stand up staight. Out of all of his fights, even the with the Captain, this is no doubt the hardest he had ever done. Shinzou seemed to be one step ahead of Mashiro, but he could not worry about it now. " Well, to be honest, Shinzou, I am spent. I do not know about you, since we have been neck and neck, but I say we end this... now." Mashiro raised his blade and released all the Spiritual Presure he had left inside him, or at least to fight with. The ground shook as he spoke again. " I know that you are not full of stength, either. So since we are not able to take this fight on any further we should end it with One Strike." Mashiro did not wait for an answer as he charge head on at Shinzou.

Shinzou was surprised by the fact that Mashiro wasn't completely overwhelmed by this recent onslaught of attacks, especially considering that he had used all of that Kidou earlier. "I try." He said cautiously as he watched Mashiro gripping his chest as if he was about to collapse. "I've got a bit of gas left in the tank, then again I haven't been tossing around Kidou like you have." Shinzou add as he lowered himself back into his usual stance. This felt odd to him, almost like an out of body experience, as Mashiro some how mustered up his last bit of strength in a last ditch attack. The voice of his Zanpakutou rushed in and filled the back of his mind once more, "Put that dog down boy." It said, urging him to run Mashiro into the ground. Shinzou was really on edge here.
On one hand there was his future in the squad, if he made sure Mashiro went down here, a higher seat was all but secured. However... if he did that he risked seriously, even permanently, injuring his fellow squad mate. He ultimately was able to find some middle ground in the conundrum, or was rather forced to do so seeing that there was such a short amount of time to consider such a pivotal action. As Mashiro's blade grew nearer, Shinzou's began to drip with a deep red reiatsu, as if it were bleeding energy. It wasn't enough force to severely injure Mashiro, and it would leave him enough reitsu to defend himself with at least one more kidou if Mashiro cooked something up to surprise him again. He felt the drain on his body as he poured his energy into the sword and swung it mightily at the man rushing towards him. What was even weirder was that he didn't get any visions this time, normally they came whether or not he wanted them, but this time they were missing, his mind was completely calm for a single instant. Just as their strikes were about to meet the reiatsu from his Zanpakutou shot towards Mashiro. It was enough to knock Mashiro out, if it hit square like Shinzou thought it would, but at the moment that was all Shinzou could do... think. He probably thought more in that single moment than he had in the rest of his life. It was like for one moment, his mind was silent, then the next exploded into loud concatenation of different parts of his brain shouting their various points at him, dying to be heard. As their attacks connected one rose above the others, he wondered if this was how it was for everyone. If everyone's mind was always this cluttered with contradicting thoughts.

Mashiro
Technique: 3/5 -Generally good, you used the environment to your advantage, and performed as a competent swordsman. Good job. My only suggestion is work on being a bit more offensive instead of relying so much on Kidou.
Flexibility: 4/5 -You responded well to given situations, usually in the manner of a counter-attack of your own.
Grammar: 3/5 - For the most part you have great grammar and usage of the language, there were a few instances that made me chuckle. However there are several places where I found a weakness, so I gave you a 3 rating.
Spelling: 2/5 -While the grammar was good, your spelling was a bit less than exemplary. It wasn't atrocious or anything, I could still understand you well enough, but perhaps you should invest in Firefox or a spell-checker for your posts.
~Overall Rating: 3/5

Shinzou
Technique: 4/5 -Your sixth sense ability was used very well, enabling you to keep a constant edge. However, watch this as it is borderline god-modding.
Flexibility: 4/5 -Great responses to any attack, you knew when to take a hit and how to 'give it back' appropriately
Grammar: 5/5 -You have exceptional grammar, and I am very impressed with your use of English. Keep it up!
Spelling: 5/5 -Just as good as your grammar, your passages are very groomed and mature.
