Quote: ~ Rules for Round 1 ~
-- Each RPer will make 5 posts, not counting the intro post.
-- Each post (not OOCs) must have at least 3 lines (in size 12).
-- NO Shikai is allowed.
-- Only Kidous up to level 10 can be used.
-- NO Shumpo is allowed.
-- Not posting for more than 3 consecutive days - after making the intro post - results in immediate loss of the match. - Unless the RPer has warned (accurately and in advance) that he/she will be unable to post for a certain period of time, in which case he/she will be granted that same period to be inactive (not counting for the 3 days limit).
-- Not posting for more than 7 consecutive days prior to making the intro post results in immediate loss of the match. - Exceptions do apply in the same manner as stated in the above point. The area is a large leveled plain. There are some patches of dirt and rocks, but most of it is a grassy field. It's a sunny day, with mild temperature and wind. This is a remote and isolated field, so no other "living" being can be seen for miles.

...Traveling through the forest was hard enough, now he would have to battle someone that Amatsu knew was powerful. Shinzou, a man that Amatsu had seen in battle, and knew there was something a little more to him, other than what the eye could see. Moving a branch from his way, Amatsu finally saw the field that would be the battlefield ahead of him. As he entered it he witnessed the bright shining sun first. Placing his hand up to obscure his vision from the sun, Amatsu let his eye get accustom to it. As he let his hand down, Amatsu slid his other hand over the side of his face taking the headphones off his ears. Before him laid grass, dirt, and not much else for miles on end. Trotting through the waist high grass, Amatsu stopped about a hundred yards from the tree line. Suddenly a gentle breeze whipped through the grass, striking Amatsu, and his cloths. Fluttering in the wind just slightly, Amatsu brushed his hair from his eyes. Waiting never was Amatsu's strong point. Hopefully Shinzou would be here soon...

[Intro]
Shinzou too came ducking out of the forest, only a few minutes after Amatsu. He wore a soft smile on his face as he trudged through the knee high grass towards his friend. He looked down momentarily, noticing several small rocks and a good bit of loose dirt on the ground. He watched how the grass played of the sheath of his Zanpakutou where it hung at his side. He looked up to find that he was now at a good distance to start this fight, so figured he might as well introduce himself, to an extent. "Amatsu... you know I really was looking forward to fighting you during this." He said with a smile, "But I was really hoping it would be later on. This could really set one of us back you know? if one of us looses here there's a good chance that he won't make it higher than the 7th seat." He said with a sigh, this could really throw a huge hitch in his bid for the top seated, or at least a higher seated, position. He'd never really felt nervous before, but here he did. It wasn't scary, it didn't shake his confidence, but rather it felt exhilarating. It felt exhilarating that he knew he was about to go into battle against someone that he knew could beat him. His heart raced even as he bowed politely and took a fighting stance, his sword raised up at about chest height, horizontal to the ground, it's tip pointing out at Amatsu. "You'll need to go all out on this one." Came a voice in the back of his head.

...Not even a second after his finished his thought on wanting Shinzou to hurry up, a sound came from behind him. "Eh?" Was all Amatsu said as he glanced over his left shoulder, slowly he turned where his left shoulder was facing Shinzou. Amatsu smiled faintly. Just before he was about to speak, Shinzou did. Listening to him, Amatsu let out a sigh. "Well, to tell you the truth. I'd just be happy to be seated. Whether you get 12th seat, or 3rd seat. You get the same treatment... Just have to follow are more rules if your lower." As he finished speaking, he turned fulling to face Shinzou. His right hand placed gently on the sheath of his blade. Another cool breeze flowed through the area. Shifting his feet ever so slightly apart, Amatsu felt the rocks and such below his feet. "So... Shall we begin?" With those words, Amatsu rushed forward, his body slightly hunched over. His chest grazing along the top of the grass. Just before reaching Shinzou, Amatsu unleashed his Zanpakuto with his left hand. Leaping slightly into the air, Amatsu brought his blade horizontally in a sharp arc to Shinzou chest. In this position it seemed as though Amatsu would easily be blocked or deflected, but as always. There was more to this attack...

It was lucky that Shinzou was ready and knew a little about what was coming his way. Amatsu had earned a reputation, at least in Shinzou's eyes, as being one of the most battle driven individuals he had ever met. He had watch Amatsu pushed on through grievous injuries during the battle to retake the Squad 13 grounds, watched as he pushed through a powerful attack from their Captain just for a chance to get a shot off. Shinzou knew that he wasn't going to be able to inflict enough damage Amatsu to stop him, perhaps he could out smart Amatsu's all out attacking style though, use his drive against him pull him into a rut and keep him there. As Amatsu approached Shinzou's sixth sense kicked in, giving him a vision of flashing steel. From the angle of the glint in his vision he was able to tell that Amatsu's blade would be coming in on a horizontal plane. He quickly analyzed Amatsu's path and then made his own move, remaining aware that his opponent would most likely counter almost as quickly and with, at the very very least, equal ferocity. Shinzou ducked an rolled forward, finding the best course for getting away from a heads up fighter like Amatsu was to go directly at them. He rolled just past Amatsu's right side and as he came back upright used his rolling motion, current momentum, and a leveraged position while rising from the ground to launch a powerful upwards strike at Amatsu's back. He quickly shift his back foot underneath himself again as soon as he came to the right height, ready to react to Amatsu's next move. "Get ready boy, he'll be on you in a second, you better not loose here." Came that voice in his head again, almost like it was instructing him through battle. It wasn't telling him that he didn't already know, but it was poking an prodding at him, urging him to push himself. It wanted to make this into a war, an all out battle, Shinzou knew he had to ignore it at the moment. Getting into a sword fight with Amatsu would only cost him the match.
(Not using anything but what we started with is going to be tough. Especially considering both of my opponents have Shikai already.)

...The moment his blade was about to connect with the upper side of Shinzou's ribcage, Amatsu saw something in Shinzou eyes that signaled he knew what was coming. He reacted too perfectly. He hadn't positioned himself to intercept such an attack, but he did perfectly. Not rolling to the side of where Amatsu's attack was going, and rolling all together when Amatsu at leaped at the last moment. It was all too perfect. 'Theres something more to this child, that I can tell you.' The ever sweet female voice within Amatsu's mind said. It was as if a second conscience in what Amatsu chose to do. It was strange, but seemed right at the same time. 'From behind, idiot!' she screamed at him. It was slightly strange, but it seemed as though she was here to help. As soon as Amatsu's blade missed Shinzou, Amatsu swiftly brought his sheath down upon the ground to stop himself from flying any farther. Letting the momentum of his attack carry through as he spun around. Amatsu met Shinzou's blade perfectly. A grin formed over Amatsu face. "You are a brilliant tactician, all give you that..." Amatsu said as his foot touched down upon the earth. As it did Amatsu launched himself back into the air, pushing off his sheath at the same time. Amatsu summersaulted over Shinzou, twisting in such a way that he would come down perfectly behind Shinzou...
...As he continued downward with his sheath still in his right hand, and his Zanpakuto in his left. Amatsu brought his blade down toward Shinzou's left shoulder. At the same moment Amatsu landed in a position to quickly move out of the way. His left and right foot spread wide apart so he could move in any direction. "...But your tactics are for the planning room, not for the battlefield..." Amatsu said in a almost nefarious tone. The one difference in the way Shinzou, and Amatsu thought was Amatsu had been in battle hundreds, if not thousands of times before. Where as Shinzou seemed as though he hadn't experienced enough just yet. Even though Shinzou was a excellent swordsman, and a even better tactician, he's main weapon seemed to be something else. Amatsu hadn't clearly deciphered it yet, but there was something there...

Shinzou heard the sound of flapping cloth even before Amatsu did his little flip, he figured a fighter like Amatsu would surely try to gain his back. Not only did allow his guard to be effortlessly passed, it also meant that he could not counter attack. Sinzou began to turn as Amatsu jumped, keeping his opponent in front of him. He was taken somewhat by surprise that Amatsu's next attack came so fast, but managed to block it down to the ground a hasty swipe of his own weapon, it was certainly not as polished as something Amatsu would have used, but it got the job done in the end. It also helped the he attacked opposite arm with opposite arm, keeping his sheath tied up from doing anything more than blocking. He was careful to keep his blade on top of, or at least above Amatsu's blade. "Only time will tell." He said as that voice echoed through his head again. "Make him move..." It said in the gravelly voice. It was then that Shinzou noticed something that would allow him to gain a momentary advantage.
Shinzou realized as he blocked the sword down, that Amatsu had taken a stance with a wide base. This gave him a good ability to dodge incoming attacks, but it was also quite obvious to an opponent. Shinzou planned on using this to his advantage. His thrust his blade towards Amatsu, letting it trail along Amatsu's blade as it went. He had it I a loose grip so that his hand would follow through when Amatsu blocked it with his sheath. This he hoped, would force Amatsu to move. When he did Shinzou was ready. He flipped a good size stone up into the air and then cast a Kidou on it, "Hadou Number One: Thrust!" He said as the stone was sent flying at Amatsu like a bullet. With the speed it was carrying, it's weight, and it's hardness meant that it was well capable of breaking bones if it hit Amatsu, especially if it his chest and the smaller ribs there.

[Where is Mock XP I sent him a message asking about my other battle and nuffin! Oh, and sorry I wasn't on today, some family was in town.]
...The moment Amatsu realized his blade was nulled to the ground a faint smile formed across his face. He didn't really care about his seat, but a higher seat would do some good. There was no real reason for Amatsu to try in this battle, but he did think of one now. To respect Shinzou. He had given it his all, at in return Amatsu had been doing it against his will. It was a fun spar of rivals to say the least. From the bottom corner of his eyes Amatsu saw the stone rise due to Shinzou's foot, his eyes flickered to Shinzou hand as he saw the formation it was taking. What he had planned was clear. As Shinzou was beginning to speak Amatsu dropped his sheath, his hand was now a open palm. Gesturing it toward Shinzou he spoke just after Shinzou did. "Bakudou Number Eight: Seki!" He exclaim with a wide grin now. As the stone rocketed toward Amatsu it was negated by a invisible barrier. Leaving his sheath where it laid, Amatsu leaped to the side of Shinzou with a single bound...
...As he reached Shinzou's left side; which wasn't the best move now that he thought it over. Amatsu raised his hand once more, bringing the back end of his hilt toward the base of Shinzou's spine. A strike there would enable him for the finish strike, or in this case a blade point to his throat. Whatever happen now hopefully Amatsu could counteract...

(It's all good. You didn't really react to the upwards slash/punch to the face thing, but this isn't a fight to the death so it don't really matter anyways.)
Shinzou smiled an almost sad smile. It seemed as if his opponents, both of them in this tournament of sorts, had decided that this was not all together a serious venture for them at all. Both of them had decided part way through the match to finally step it up. Shinzou couldn't help but wonder if it would wind up costing Amatsu the way it had cost Mashiro, forcing him to work from behind. Shinzou immediately began formulating a way to use Amatsu's own action against him the second he saw the shinigami drop his sheath. This strategy was helped along by a fleeting vision of the area where Amatsu was now, minus Amatsu himself, and the scene fading from color to black. This wasn't terribly helpful, all it really told him was that if he didn't do something he was about to get knocked out where he stood. As Amatsu appeared next to him, Shinzou was alerted first by the sound of the gravelly surface below crunching under the weight of movement. Shinzou immediately turned and raised his Zanpakutou, and in turn his arms, into a defensive position to safe guard from the foreseen knockout blow.
He was caught off guard as the butt of Amatsu's hilt struck him in one of his raised arms, knocking him backwards and off his feet. His left forearm stung like hell as he gathered his bearings. That was when he noticed he was laying right next to Amatsu's sheath. He reached over and grabbed it with his left hand, keeping his Zanpakutou in his right. He quickly got to his feet and charged Amatsu, knowing that giving this man time to ponder things was a bad idea, and just as well that Amatsu wasn't going to wait for him to get it together before he attacked. As he approached his target he swung an over handed blow, striking down with the sheath in his left hand. Anticipating this to be blocked he had kept his Zanpakutou in his strong hand and thrust it up towards Amatsu's hopefully exposed abdomen. Of course, there was always the chance that Amatsu would take the blow from his own sheath to the neck and the dead arm it would bring in exchange for blocking the stabbing blow. Or, as Shinzou knew all too well, Amatsu may opt to ignore both for a chance at an open strike on Shinzou, hoping to end the battle for both of them.
(Adding some color since there is no talking in this post, you know, keep it interesting for you to read. I need to make a Shinzou post format. ^^)

[4/5] [XP Damn. Guess I need to pay more attention ^_^]
...Amatsu smirked slightly as the butt of his hilt connected with Shinzou. Watching carefully as Shinzou started his offence, Shinzou's ability to foresee something didn't seem to help sometimes. Was it a here and now thing? Or was it just Shinzou great reaction skills. Either way Amatsu wondered how much longer this battle would pursue. Suddenly Shinzou rushed him, Amatsu's on sheath in his hand, "Eh? Well, thats different." Amatsu said with a chuckle. Twisting his Zanpakuto where the hilt was facing upward, Amatsu moved it to his right side to block the sheath, at the same moment his free hand thrust outward, catching the blade centimeters before it connected with his abdomen. Blood began to run along Shinzou's blade, and dripped down between the grass. Amatsu flinched slightly at the pain, but a steady smile held through. Keeping his hand upon Shinzou's blade, as he pushed it to the side, and pushing his sheath away from him Amatsu shot forward. As he went down to meet Shinzou, Amatsu slammed his head downward, attempting to head butt him...

Shinzou smiled, it turns out that Amatsu had chosen a favorable middle ground to avoid his attack. "I really didn't expect any less here. I suppose I must say like wise to you." He said just before Amatsu's head slammed into his face, more exactly the bridge of his nose, breaking his nose in the process. Blood ran down his face as he began to stumble backwards. As he stumbled backwards he let go of Amatsu's sheath and placed it on the back of his attacker's head. He pulled down on it to right himself and laced his other hand in with the one already there. This put his Zanpakutou in a weird position, but he wasn't even thinking about that at the moment. He was simply scrambling and imitating something one of his friends had tried to teach him, the judo clinch. Shinzou was probably terribly out of position for such a move, but it was really all he could think of at the moment and Amatsu's current momentum easily permitted it.
It wasn't that Shinzou had not really tried to learn the technique when his friends decided they'd try and make use of his remarkable reaction time, it was rather that he decided he really didn't want to fight that much. Now though, now he was spurred on by that gravelly voice in the nether regions of his mind which was telling him to take Amatsu down no matter what it took and for some reason he felt driven to comply. They(Shinzou and Amatsu) had never stopped traveling backwards from the force of Amatsu's attack, so Shinzou used his opponents currently off balance position to yank his head down again and sloppily attempt to connect a knee to his chin before letting go and sliding through the dirt. All of a sudden he felt the pain in his face as he held his face looking at the blood that covered his hands and spitting some of it out as it ran down his face. He rolled in agony for a moment before sitting up and trying to regain his bearings through gasped breaths and a ringing in his ears.

...Amatsu seemed to be a rag doll in the face of Shinzou's attack. Falling forward along with Shinzou he thought over the battle. It wasn't much, but they seemed to meet one another blow for blow, blade for blade, thought for thought. He smiled as suddenly a strong blow hit his chin. As it did his teeth chattered against one another, Amatsu fell face first into the ground. His breath slightly rapid as he laughed. "That was fun..." He said as he slowly rose from his face down position. Blood poured a little from his mouth and nose. "Though that last attack was a little unorthodox." He said before looking over at Shinzou with a smile through the blood and sweat...

Shinzou simply fell back and laughed his a** off. He had never thought he would ever find himself in a situation like this. It was extremely funny to him in fact. He who had been so non-combative while alive, was now matching a far more experienced warrior blow for blow. Good thing he had all those years to work with his little sixth sense, or else he probably would have lost his head already. He certainly never thought he would have found a use for his friends' crazy attempts to turn him into a fighter. "I don't know why I did that, it was just the first thing I thought of. When you hit me in the face like that the first thing I did was try and make sure you didn't do it again. I just got lucky I caught you off balance after that. To tell the truth I could really say the same about yours." He was spat some more blood out to the side and simply smiled. "Well, I don't know how they're going to choose now. We both pretty much beat the hell out of each other. So much so that we even stopped using our Zanpakutou. Wonder how many fights have come down to fisticuffs around here."

(Ok, yeah, I know the sixth sense thing is borderline godmoddy. I tried to tone it down in this match, put an emphasis on how it still wouldn't help him if someone truly out classed him and if he was being pressed I showed how I planned to have that be it's weakness. I put more emphasis on what exactly it was that was giving him the knowledge. If there's anything else you need me to do with it, any more limitations, then let me know. I really wanna keep it, but when I made it I wasn't sure exactly what was plausible )

I have to admit that this is a tough decision to make. Both of your RPs are about on par with one another - for good and bad.
The detail and thought you guys put into individual attacks and such was fantastic. Also, since no one decided to be purely defensive or offensive, this made for an interesting read.
Shinzou - I thank you for keeping your sixth sense to more of a minimum in this. It actually allowed you to be more creative than just "he sensed it and dodged it."
Amatsu - the way you played out your character as dynamic rather than static was well done, especially in giving him a reason to change. That definitely made it more interesting.
Some advice to both of you - there were a few issues of spelling. Nothing too horrible, but there were spelling mistakes. Also, the grammar was questionable. Amatsu, you have a tendency to have a lot of fragments, or just leaving out conjunctions. Shinzou, you do too, but less so. Still, I advise both of you to be careful. Oh, and both of you need to be careful with using similar words that are easy to mess up when typing tired (he's vs. his, loose vs. lose, etc.)
Overall, I must say the winner is Shinzou. This decision was not based on creativity or ability to use what you had at your disposal - it was simply because of some grammar and spelling issues. Brush up on it and I'm sure both of you will do fantastic.
